I had lunch here with some friends and it was very nice. The people were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere had that local business feel to it with a dollop of hipster. The food was good and they have a small selection of beer (I don't recall whether or not there is wine... sorry). The portions are moderately sized - about what you'd expect from a place like this. This place is so much fun. Went there for a "Beer vs Wine Smackdown" class. It was a cheese/wine/beer pairing class. Excellent date event. The atmosphere was great. The guy explaining the cheeses did a really good job. Enough detail for serious (??) cheese connoisseurs but light enough for those of us just there for the social aspect. Very solid cheese store in Dallas, has a lot more selection than Jimmy's (but not of Italian cheese). We moved from Austin and wanted something to replace Antonelli's, and this is the closest we have been able to find. The selection is really varied if not enormous, same with the wine. We attended a Fondue night at this place, and were shocked by the poor quality of the products and service. Although the meal started with a decent tasting appetizer, the Fondue part itself was a total bust. On top of that, the service was terrible, with the waitstaff making it abundantly clear that they did not care to provide any quality of service. It was a case of "you've paid, so here is what we have to give you". If you want to waste money on dipping a cut-up sausage, apple and stale bread in so-so cheese, look no further. On top of the perfectly executed venue, these people are as genuine as it gets and deserve every last iota of success they have received and more. Love the concept that Scardello has going. They not only serve cheese, but have a great little menu as well. Just to be clear it is not a full-blown restaurant, but there are three or so tables in the back of the shop where you can sit down and eat your food if you do choose to eat there. I have also participated in three of the cheese and wine tasting courses that they offer there and was very satisfied with my experience! The owner Rich Rogers really knows his stuff. He can recommend a cheese you are sure to love. All staff is quite knowledgeable and I always make a point to get a new cheese each time I visit based on their opinions. Have not been disappointed yet! Don't be afraid to ask for a sample because they are quite generous. My only criticism is that they did not build it closer to my house! I have been dying to get a good quality authentic cheese shop closer to my home. I can dream can't I? read more

My boyfriend and I used to be fans of the place but after today, I doubt we'll be back. We stopped in to get sandwiches and patiently waited the usual 25 minutes for them to be made (I just don't understand how everyone who works there is so consistently slow--it's like they've taken an employee class in slow motion sandwich making). We get to our favorite picnic stop and unwrap our sandwiches only to find the most meager, sad looking sandwich I've ever laid eyes on. A few puny bits of prosciutto with barely a smear of fig spread and hardly any cheese to speak of. Think about it, you buy a $9.00 sandwich from a specialty cheese shop and you expect more that a nickel's worth of cheese on the thing. Pathetic. To add insult to injury,they forgot to give us forks and napkins so we couldn't eat our little salads. We had also tossed in a little chocolate (three pieces of chocolate covered salted caramel each the size of a chiclet) with no price tag that turned out to cost $6.00. Live and learn, I guess. In the future I'll stick to supporting the local businesses that don't shamelessly upcharge their customers. read more

We came for the wine and cheese pairing night and it was wonderful. Being sat at a table with others not in your party was a positive rather than a drawback. We were able to bond over how delicious, or crazy, or divine the cheese and wine pairings were. And as for quality: it is top notch. You can really tell they spent time crafting their tasting menus, as evidenced by the enthusiasm and background knowledge of the host for the night, Marco. He was super friendly and inviting. The environment is lovely and romantic without being snooty or too posh. Truly a wonderful date night, but also just a lovely evening out to try new flavors and savor great wine. read more

We loved this place. It's the best way to try gourmet, artisan cheeses without purchasing a large quantity. If it's your first visit, try a cheese platter ($5 + cheese by weight) with 3 or 4 cheeses. This place is amazing and honestly, I am in love. I love cheese anyway, but I had decided that a group of friends and I should have a cheese tasting party. The five of us snagged a large table in the back of Scardello and a very kind young man came over to help us. He offered to put together cheese plates and some charcuterie for our party; we wound up with a dazzling arrangement, from a triple-cream brie to a very sharp, pungent washrind, and everything was delicious. The presentation was beautiful and we loved his selections. He was very helpful at answering questions and suggesting pairings ("try that one with a bite of a fig", "that goes well with the proscuitto"). We had more than enough to fill us all up and our total was under $80 for the group, not bad at all for what we got. None of us did wine pairing though, we stuck to water for our beverages. This was a fantastic place for brunch and I will be back very soon! read more

I simply had no idea how great cheese could be until I sampled the carefully chosen, hand crafted delights that owner Rich and his fellow cheesemongers serve up.
