During a June-August 2022 water mitigation event, Scene Clean was paid $6200 from our insurance company for doing very nearly nothing. Further, they seem to have no idea what they were doing. Communication was virtually nonexistent, and the scope of the project was completely fluid depending on which person at Scene Clean we talked to. The initial crew of two technicians showed up and immediately got to work drying out our space. That part was fine. They removed some drywall and put in a bunch of fans and the water went away. After that, incompetence flowed downhill fast. The scope of the project at one point included removing all tile from our laundry room and bathroom, a toilet, part of a wall, and a bathroom cabinet. In the end, the team removed some drywall and our expensive bathroom cabinet which appeared to have no water damage at all. We asked for a written scope and the technician hand wrote the affected areas on a sheet of paper. There was no communication between different parts of the company and very little experience and expertise was brought to our project. We were asked to approve the work and we never did. Nevertheless, insurance paid the bill and so Scene Clean got what they wanted. This very clearly seems like a fraudulent company which screws over homeowners just to get insurance payments. read more

our home sustained serious water damage on account of a water pipe rupture. SceneClean was the company assigned by our home owners insurance. initially, the crew showed up outside of any scheduling or prior announcement, staying until whenever. no information/explanation was provided regarding the remediation and it's progression which made preparation on our part impossible. after several conversations with SceneClean it was agreed to that we would be notified of their arrival ahead of time so we wouldn't feel overrun. the crew appears to be hard working but lacks any and all understanding of the notion that they are working in a private residence. at one point, a door in an unaffected part of the home was opened without knocking. (it so happened that someone had just gotten dressed there!). the owner of this outfit came to inspect the work (without introducing himself!) which appeared to be related mostly to measuring the spaces that had been treated. the worst came a day later...through a hatch in the subfloor we discovered that three lines of HVAC flexpiping in the crawlspace were variously ripped, detached or sagging with water and that wet insulation was laying on the gravel floor. a new hardwood floor would have been installed by an unsuspecting home owner over a seriously compromised HVAC system and absent insulation. no surprise this company rates a B- at the BBB. read more

This company is a nightmare. 2/1/19 I had a condo water leak from the unit over me 2 floors up. Alarm went off while I was working. Fire truck came; it was a water leak. damage from water occurred in my kitchen, living room via chandelier onto dining table and carpet. I heard the water gushing down to bottom unit. ServePro was called via condo Insurance by engagement. They put in huge air dryers. I contacted Nationwide my Ins company who referred me to Scene clean. At an inconvenience to me; time wise they set up dryers that had to be left on all night; they the owner patrick Heidenberg came out saying, "you have a problem" going around noting issues. His crew was friendly, he himself would schedule at his convenience, while I was juggling work and a ill mother. State Farm allocated a lower amount of compensation [$6,000] ceiling damage and floor; Scene Clean tore up gyp creek and flooring with an amount almost twice that; it took forever to get started; I ended up sick with MRSA; dust/fumes/air dirty; In the interim they punched holes everywhere to assess the moisture; Finally getting the living room wall painted I wanted 'creme white' as it had been; I ended up with yellow; they wanted everything packed out; this was another charge; they had a separate charge for water mediation. I did not do mold mediation which was another charge. Items were broken; a mug; a new washcloth had plaster on it; fireplace was scathed; lamp busted; I purchases 2 lamps as advised one to be replaced with water logged in base and 2nd in lieu of hallway for damages. looking around; carpet was not located [at first]; i think they were going to throw it out. or think I had forgotten about it. Recently, I am still noticing crappy shoddy work paint around base of things; strip between kitchen and living room came up; and it was not painted behind commode in bathroom. Flooring; I wanted a higher end wood type floor vs vinyl I had had. Showing samples from floor and decor it was noted I could go with the one withing insurance estimate [previously It was noted I could go with my choice paying the difference]. carpet turned out ok; to my relief. The kitchen engineered flooring is darker than I thought it was [per floor and decor model] but I grew to like it. there is still a ring around sprinkler in bedroom where water accumulated. long story short; today is 10/29/19 despite writing consumer affairs and having issues with the owner attutude and pointing this out with someone he brought with him going over punch list; I am still being hounded for $10,000 [pound sand] and $2,018.96. for the pack out [where they wanted everything out of my residence and stored at their facility]. Nationwide [I thought] compensated for busted lamp and table I paid for out of pocket. Do not; I repeat, DO NOT go with this money grubber attitude wielding company who does a "re-model" using insurance money and NOT to you the owner specifications. ps I was also dealing with work issues and an ill mother who died and only had memorial this past Sunday. email from Erin Funk "Ms. Faville,We are sorry to hear you feel this way, however, please recall that you signed a work authorization that approved us to remove your contents from the home and store them off site. Additionally, your adjuster has confirmed that payment was in fact sent to you for our completed work, and the check has since been cashed. All of your items have been returned to you and we are not in possession of any of your items, therefore we should be compensated at this time. Regarding the slanderous accusations of breaking items and not compensating you - We did in fact install, at no charge to you, two (2) lights as an agreed upon trade-off. Furthermore, the paint that you claim was the wrong color, is the color you personally handpicked. We would be happy to provide you with the signed spec sheet that has your signature authorizing that decision. This was the exact spec sheet that was used when ordering the paint. It deems necessary to point out that when you completed the final walk through with our project manager, they were not made aware of any other paint issues behind the toilet. Again, you signed off after that punch work was completed that it was corrected. We apologize that the floor strip has come loose. There is a warranty on the work so we will certainly honor that. Had a washer flood a week ago and my insurance company assigned Scene Clean. I thought they were very good, completely thorough. The equipment had to stay in my house a miserably long time, but that was because it wasn't drying out - the workers came literally every day to check. In particular, Mikey - who seemed to be in charge of the daily crews (and sometimes came alone) was REALLY good. Very responsive and sensitive to my concerns about noise and inconvenience, but he was vigilant about getting the place dried out to a safe point. Knew his stuff too - my biggest concern was mold and they seem to have prevented that effectively. read more

Scene Clean came out to do a remediation following the flooding of our basement. As they were leaving in their truck they bottomed out and broke two of our pavers - this driveway was just installed April 2018. I have made repeated attempts to reach out to Patrick (owner I think) and my messages have not been returned. I have spoken to Melanie many times and each time she assures me she will be in touch with Patrick but nothing ever comes of it. Hard to believe a company that specializes in fixing damaged property would avoid something as simple as addressing the problem. This could have been resolved and now I have to escalate it. Run the other direction if you are thinking about using this company. A pipe burst in my home and my insurance company sent out scene clean. They came out ripped apart everything and put holes in my hardwood flooring due to thewater damage. None of this concerns me at the time because they said it would be repaired or replaced. The owner of the company came out a few days later and told me to sign a paper saying they could submit the estimate so not to hold up the process. I requested a copy but was not given one at the time. I Then followed up with the insurance company who said what I had signed was an agreement for scene clean to do the repair work. At this point I had no problem with them doing the work but I was not happy that the owner of the company was so deceitful and manipulative. He then said that instead of ripping up the flooring and putting down a new floor they would build a floor on top. When I told him that this wasn't an acceptable solution he then said that they weren't going to do the floors at all and weren't going to submit that to the insurance company. After weeks of going back and forth I basically didn't get the floors replaced or repaired from the water damage even though I paid my deductible because this company was so utterly dishonest. I think the owner is scum and because I wanted him to do the work the right way which was a little bit harder he refused to submit the damage to the insurance company. The best way I could describe the owner of this company would be dishonest and deceitful. I would most definitely recommend another company if you were looking to have repairs done or water damage fixed. read more
