I was staying in Temple, Texas this week right by here, so I checked them out once. I'm a Pescatarian so I checked their menu out online and found out they had a "homestyle tuna" option. Great~! We get there and I'm relieved to see it listed on the menu placard in front of the register, so I order and I'm informed (Incredibly rudely) by the cashier (Whose name started with a K) that they don't have it, and yes it's on the menu but this location doesn't carry it. Why not sharpie that part out on the in store menu display then? Or you know just have the proper menu in the store? Cashier was incredibly rude to me, I ordered lettuce and tomato on rye and she snipped at me "Do you want meat on that or just that?" again, with the rude attitude. I thought I was in the south where people are polite. She did give me a discount which is the reason it's 2 stars and not one. I get that this is a chain and the menu online does not reflect each and every store, but when the options are in front of the cash register on the laminated menu then there is something wrong. read more

I eat here very regularly. One of the few places for a vegetarian to get a quick drive through meal. Love the cheese original.

Had a craving for a cinnamon roll. $5 dollars for a dry rock hard Cinnabon they had like two drops of icing was not what I had in mind.

Tonight (5/13/17), I went through the drive-through of this Schlotzsky's on S. 31st in Temple. I ordered a medium pastrami & Swiss on rye sandwich. I couldn't understand the words coming through the speaker, so I said that I'd go ahead and drive up to the window. The young female clerk kept double-and-triple checking what I had ordered, getting it wrong her first two tries. She told me what I owed ($7-something), and I gave her a $10 bill. She disappeared for a long time; came back to the cash register for a moment; then, disappeared again--for such a length of time that caused me to wonder if she was going to forget or had forgotten to bring me my change. When she had first disappeared out of my sight--when the last sign of her in my sight was her exposed, plaid boxer shorts--I figured that maybe she didn't have the coins or bills she needed in the cash register to make change to give me back from my $10. Meanwhile, I watched the cook making my sandwich--at least, I could see the dark rye bread and the pastrami; I could also see him squirt some dressing on my bread, put the meat on the bread, and then he put my sandwich into a sack and set it on the counter for the clerk to bring to me. Finally, the window clerk returned with my change (bills and coins). I asked for a pickle, also. I watched as the window clerk did something near the cash register, did something else, and eventually she noticed my sack that had been sitting on the cook's counter. She got a pickle out of a bin; she reached for a smaller brown sack and shook it open--but this little sack fell on the floor. The clerk bent down and picked up the small sack, and I thought, "Oh, no you don't! Surely you won't!" She did. She plopped my pickle down into that little sack and put that down inside my sandwich sack. She delivered it to me at the drive-through window. I got home and took out the sandwich and unwrapped it from its paper. The two pieces of rye bread were squished and flattened together. I thought, "Something is missing--this sandwich is too flat!" I peered under the bread of both halves and saw only the pastrami and a spare bit of Dijon dressing on the bread slices. I saw no cheese. I took a bite and tasted only the pastrami and the dressing. I called this store, and I believe that perhaps the manager answered my call. I asked if their pastrami and Swiss on rye sandwich was supposed to have Swiss cheese on it--maybe melted on it or whatever. The woman said, "Yes, but the cheese is almost not visible; it's melted into the bread." I said, "Okaaaay," and hung up. Going back to the sandwich, I held the open halves under strong lamplight and saw no Swiss cheese or cheese of any kind. I ran my finger over the inside halves of the bread and felt no cheese. I tasted what my finger had picked up, and I only tasted the Dijon dressing. I'm writing this detailed review because for the past year and several months, I am exasperated with the level of service at drive-through restaurants in South Temple--Schlotzsky's on S. 31st being one of them. Quite a few times, I've gotten home only to have to return to this Schlotzsky's to get my order corrected in some way. read more

Ok, so I decided to go to the drive thru since there were only 3 cars ahead of me during lunch, and took nearly 20 mins to get my damn order! Im sorry but if you order ONE sandwich and ONE cinnabon roll, but you take forever to get someone's order then you need to be fired!! While having dinner with my deaf and disables son the manager on duty was very rude and disrespectful to a fellow employee. The dark haired employee had her back to us while cleaning a table and the manager was facing us. First the manager on duty said that she felt the girl was lying to her about being tested for Cancer due to not having a doctor's note stating so and that she had no reason to believe the employee. This is a huge HIPPA violation for a doctor, so she would not get a note stating that. The manager also assumed that because I was talking to my son using ASL that I myself was deaf. I never spoke up to correct her because I didn't want the young lady to get in more trouble especially after she asked the manager to please not raise her voice at her in front of the customers. I felt this manager was very unprofessional. I felt bad for the young lady and hope that the manager doesn't treat all of her employees that way. read more

Now I understand that Schlotzky's is no longer the same place that I grew up enjoying in the 1980's but honestly, this will be the last time that I ever try to choke one of their sandwiches down. I just drove through the store in Temple TX and got home to find that my order was 3/4 wrong which these days I can live with. It's what I normally expect when I'm forced to use a drive through. The kicker was the half baked bread, no dressing of any kind, roast beef? that tasted like melted rubber and turkey? that smelled like tuna fish. Nope, never again. read more

I love Schlotzsky's original sandwich. I have been eating them for 50 years! I lived in Austin when the first shop opened. I fell in love with the delicious combination of flavors. Very unique! However, when I received my original at this location on November 15 2016 I was very disappointed. The bread did not have its normal golden brown appearance. It was under done. That resulted in a soggy sandwich. Yuck! I have been to many Schlotzsky's restaurants all over Texas and never received a bad one until now. Don't bother stopping here for a good tasting sandwich. read more

there was a curly short hair stuck inside of the soggy sandwich, and I threw half of my sandwich away because I lost my appetite, that's disgusting, first time this happened but once is enough, not coming back. read more
