Got here early enough to have a good selection of bagels to choose from. Sausage, egg, and cheese bagel with a coffee please. It was kind of cold inside the shop so off to the outside patio we went. The patio area has a few concrete tables to enjoy your food. The set up outside offers plenty of shade and feels kind of secluded even though it is right off a small street. Having lived in NY once upon a time, I have a different standard for bagels. For a Florida bagel this place does good but its not a NY bagel! LISTEN. We were in St. Augustine for 2 nights and both mornings we went and got bagels from here! Hands down best bagel I've ever had; I got the sausage egg and cheese on a cheddar bagel one day and a pork roll egg and cheese on an everything bagel the next and both were amazing. The iced coffee is delicious and hazelnut can be added. The owner (I believe) was so sweet and we really didn't have to wait long at all, even though there were quite a bit of people. I loved this place. I really did. Besides the fact that the bagels are delicious, they're doing safety right. Limit of two customers in shop at a time, no indoor seating, and plenty of outdoor space. The employees were so friendly and helpful. They have dog biscuits for your furry friends and brought our toddler some bubbles (big win). Will be back! read more

Dropped in for some quick bagels with cream cheese. My favorite was the blueberry. The place is nice and cozy. There is a nice outside area to sit since. In this time of COVID-19 I would say that they are well prepared. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area. read more

Yelling at people about the 4 person limit inside, complaining that the card machine was lagging and just brushing people off and handing off orders with an attitude. We also came 2.5 hours before closing time and they only had 7 total bagels to choose from. They had no variety and the service was some of the worst I've experienced in my life. read more

Horrible experience... I have received better service at a porta-potty. Whoever the older woman at the cash register is, needs a month or 2 off. I'm sure their only regulars are college students that don't mind rude service and sub-pair food. Do better and provide training classes for your staff, customer service is important. Wow! This place was amazing!! We kept wanting to go the whole time we were there and we finally made it! The bagels are made fresh every day! I got the everything bagel that had so many seeds on it, it was sooooo good!! My parents got Asiago jalapeño bagel that had fresh jalapeños on it! If you go to St.augustine this is the place to go! We got to Schmagel's at 11:30 so we had slim pickins at the choices of bagels which was not really expected since this is a "bagel" place. I ordered a wheat bagel with butter and got a large coffee. My bagel was delivered to us at a table inside (they do have nice outdoor seating as well). It was a bit dry and lacking of butter so I figure the coffee has got to be decent.... not really. We love the Jamaica Me Crazy coffee which we were excited to see there but it tasted burnt which was disappointing as well. I do have photos as well of the baskets they served our food in. Both had some sort of food dried on the outside which looked like it had been there a while. I'm thinking they never clean those baskets and its a piece of wax paper between that and your bagel of choice. So I'm not sure we will be back since if we drove right outside of town, they have a Dunkin Donuts that would at least be cleaner with better coffee. :( read more

We love Schmagel's! We found it while visiting St. Augustine for the weekend, and we're excited to give it a try. It did not diss appoint! Loved everything about this place, including the so-called "mask shaming" mentioned in a recent review. Considering how generally lax Florida has been throughout the pandemic, I LOVED the signs that combined the "no mask no entry no kidding" message with a sense of humor. Anyone who feels "shamed" by the deliberately impossible to miss signs at the entrance is probably used to disregarding more subtle requests to be considerate. We were visiting St Augustine with our daughter & some of her friends as a HS graduation vacation & knew we would be dealing w/a lot of carelessness so it was refreshing to find this place today -- oh and by the way, the food was fantastic (especially the homemade scallion cream cheese), the young guy who took our order was utterly charming & helpful, & we all got a kick out of the funny video messages that play outside while you wait to enter... This is a longwinded review, yeah, but I felt it was necessary to give credit to a business that - in my opinion - handled the whole mask issue beautifully with humor & class. We come to St Augustine several times a year & will definitely make this place a regular breakfast stop from now on. I should also mention that I'm admittedly a food snob when it comes to bagels. Got there about 11am this morning so I wasn't expecting an amazing bagel. The nova was good and you can't beat it with onions, capers, and tomato with plenty of scallion cream cheese. The coffee was just O.K. but again getting there late it wouldn't have been as hot and fresh as an earlier arrival time would have experienced. The bagel itself was a bit tough and honestly looked a little like it had been baked for a shorter time in a hotter oven than for the proper amount of time in the right temp oven. But, that was my observation. The rest of my group seemed sated by their bagel sandwiches but the consensus was "nothing to write home about" The staff was accommodating. It's Sunday morning so we stopped in here because Maple Street is closed on Sunday. read more

Delicious and quick! I got the Jamin Salmon Wrap & it was the best lox I've had in awhile! They obviously take pride in their food & it shows! The lox was thick and flavorful. The other ingredients, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, & lettuce were super fresh. The chive cream cheese with chives and capers were a great mix of the sweet lox and vegi's.
