Delish bagel Sammy. Adorable spot but very tiny. Friendly service. Fun chip selections.

I've been wanting to try out this cozy spot for some delicious deli grub, and we finally went on a Saturday morning. We were surprisingly able to get a seat at the bar with no line. Our orders were made very quickly as well - I got the nova lox sandwich on an egg everything bagel toasted with hot giardinera schmear. It was huge but so delicious I was able to finish it all! My fiancé got the corned beef hash, which was so tasty too with good portions of quality corned beef. Would love to come back and try some other menu items next!

I really want to like them so much more than I do. If there were a continuum from hipster deli (think Mile End) to traditional deli (Manny's, 2nd Avenue, etc) Schneider would on the hipster side of center. Two of us shared a half pound pastrami on rye with a side of hash browns. The rye was pretty decent but the pastrami was sliced far too thick and the meat was lean. That is not a good thing when it comes to pastrami and I attribute the lean meat to the deli catering to its hipster-ish audience. Although the flavor was decent, the sandwich was dry and difficult to eat. We disagreed on the generously sized pickle. One of us thought the flavor was just right, the other not so much. We both agreed on the hash browns. It's a no-go. They were well fried but entirely unseasoned. I understand the lack of schmaltz but there was no onion or salt or anything else. Waffle House has nothing to worry about. (IYKYK) Service was fast and polite. The space is tiny, but it works. Prices are okay for this area but if you want traditional deli in Chicago, go to Manny's.

Got the The Good Eater, which comes with 3/4 lb Pastrami/ corned beef Reuben on multigrain bread. This sandwich was HUGE and honestly really solid. The meat was super tender, the mustard had great flavor, and the multigrain bread was toasted perfectly. The pastrami was definitely the better meat for me, but both were good. Only downside is the sandwich gets soggy over time, so you definitely wanna eat it fresh right away. Vibes were pretty normal casual deli vibes, nothing crazy. Service was nice though and the girl helping us was smiling the whole time which made the experience feel welcoming.

Schneider's is a real delight! We walked here from our hotel and were met with smiling faces, table service with our orders brought to the table, and generous, filling portions of food. Seating on the main level of this restaurant is a bit sparse, especially on a Saturday morning.

I'm biased because I'm a Schneider, no relation. Outstanding matzah ball soup, Reuben was solid. Bagel I flew home with to Nashville. It was rock hard at this point. I heated up a pan. Added some water to steam. Put some butter and sea salt on it. If I could do this every day and sell them here I'd be a millionaire because it was one of the best bagels I've had all year.

Old school diner vibes with some of the nicest staff and so many great options to choose from. The sandwich was so fresh and perfect portions, even for a 1/4 pounder. I love that they use mainly beef and turkey products, with a lot of fresh in house made products. Will definitely be back to try some of their other sandwiches!

This is such a great local find in downtown Chicago - it's exactly what I expect a divey deli to look like. I got the 1/2 lb pastrami reuben on rye and it didn't disappoint. Family joint that has been a staple in the area for many years. Will definitely come back for breakfast bagels.

A new staple for when I come to Chicago. The bagel was so fluffy and so wonderfully cloudy and thick!! And the egg and bacon, they crack real eggs on there!! I love the diner look; it's very cozy with limited seating just to warn!! And although it was super busy when we went, the workers still greeted us with a smile and a couple of jokes. Love it!

First of all, I loved that the guy that answered the phone taking my order connected that it was me coming to pick up my order. The line was pretty busy and I was outside for a little bit in the warm sun. It was my first time and felt like a good indicator of a tasty popular spot. I got the pastrami sandwich on a hoagie with lettuce and tomatoes. I also picked up the local Chicago chips which we are a huge fan of. It was a sandwich that hit the spot! We will definitely be back and excited for this place to be around as this building has had a few other business turnovers in the past.

food: really good deli for pastrami or corn beef. good portion meat in sandwiches, really like overall consistency. i will say the pickle given wasn't my favorite as it tasted like a very light salt brine. tip: buy your own sweet pickles and add them at home service: nice staff ambiance: very small interior but i love the vibe and great for a weekday lunch or something

I came across Schneider Deli while on the search for a place that does a decent lox bagel. Based on the photos I was instantly hooked and needed to try the lox bagel. On the website it's listed as a fish bagel sandwich with the option to select nova, gravlax, or smoked whitefish salad. I recommend the bagel with nova smoked salmon. The lox bagel was priced on par for the River North area which means it was a little pricer. It's priced at $16 but it comes with a fair amount of the smoked salmon. I ended up being able to share half of the sandwich with my husband and still feel full afterwards. The restaurant is located conveniently on Lasalle and Ohio right next to the Ohio House Motel. The inside of the restaurant was sizable enough for a few tables of smaller parties of 4 (or less). The inside seems to be a mix of souvenir items, grocery shop, and restaurant. They have a lot of the classic jewish deli classics such as Dr. Brown's soda and loafs of challah. The lox bagel itself was just okay. I've had a ton of lox bagels throughout the city and it wasn't anything to phone home about. I do appreciate they give you a ton of smoked salmon so you can easily get two meals from your order. The next time I visit I'll try a different bagel to see if it has a little more flavor. The bagel mainly just needed a little rock salt to add flavor. Overall, the vibe was cool and I can see myself visiting again.

This place has delicious sandwiches! Stopped by for a mid afternoon snack and it was great. We must have come at the perfect time because when we left there was a huge line. I love how they added cucumbers to the egg salad sandwich for a little crunch too. Plan to come back on the reg!

It is a pretty neat place when went in I saw that they have a lot of memorabilia all around the place. Also famous people have also been there with their autographs on their pictures. This place was quite busy which tells me that it must be good. It was very organized you can order your meal on a kiosk or at the counter. We decided to order it at the counter I ordered a famous Chicago hot dog which is an all beef hot dog on a poppy seed bun topped with chop onions, sweet pickle relish, tomato slices, dill pickle and a small spicy pepper with no ketchup but does have yellow mustard the price you could not bet it was very reasonable my guest ordered an Italian sandwich. After ordering the cashier gives you a receipt with your number on it and you step to the side. Then you wait until your number is called and that's how you get your order. Yes it was crowded but we waited for our two items for at least a half an hour which to me was unacceptable but besides that the place is really neat to try and the hot dog as well as the Italian sandwich was delicious definitely will be back again fingers crossed that we don't have to wait so long but the wait was worth it. They also have lots of seating around the restaurant. There is a second story as well you could sit up there.
