Gotham Bagels was both incredibly convenient and absolutely delicious. Not only was it just steps from our hotel, but they also offered two vegan cream cheese options, regular and scallion, which was such a treat to find. Our bagels were toasted to perfection every time, and the coffee was always piping hot. We ended up coming back each morning to start our day because the bagels were so satisfying and filling. My husband also tried their maple cinnamon cream cheese and said it was absolutely out of this world and well worth the upcharge, so definitely give it a try if you're not vegan. For the vegans out there, the scallion cream cheese is where it's at! If you have the chance, definitely stop by. Their bagels rival some of the best I've had, and I'm still dreaming about them! The prices are also very reasonable, around $4 for a bagel with schmear, which felt like a great value for the quality. read more

I went to get bagels today! I couldn't believe the guy got a couple of bagels with his bare hands!!! It seems to be the norm there. I told him I did not want any bagel anymore after he touched them.... Simply he asked " why my hands are clean".... Gross. If they do that in front of customers, I can only imagine behind the scenes STAY AWAY!! read more

The bagels are thick and super hard to chew. My jaw hurt and I could not finish more than half the bagel. The contents of the bagel sandwich were alright not did not offset the hard texture of the bagel. Very disappointing. read more

Good breakfast sandwich! Shares location with Eduardo's Enoteca. Gotham bagels offer a takeout option which allows patrons to order via a QR code. You can either eat it inside or take to go. The sandwich options are pretty plentiful for breakfast options. I had the OMFG and was thoroughly satisfied. It wasn't that long of a wait Al's. Maybe 5-7 mins for the sandwich on a Friday afternoon around lunch time. Will highly recommend and be back! read more

Really enjoyed this bagel joint after a long walk on the lake. I ordered the Brighton Beach on an egg bagel and an iced matcha with oat milk and lavender. Really enjoyed the bagel and how packed it was! The matcha was very tasty, but I could barely taste the lavender. My friend did order a sweet cream cold brew and it was mostly milk and not much cold brew, so minus a star for that. Nice outside patio to sit for a lovely day! read more

Picked this up for a late breakfast this week, SO GOOD! We ordered ahead and it was ready and waiting when I arrived. The sandwich was very filling and could have easily fed two. Incredibly flavorful, salmon was amazing, not fishy or chewy. Will definitely be back. Parking was a little difficult as I don't think they have a parking lot, but worth the struggle. read more

The price for a sausage egg and cheese bagel plus tax and forced tip was $17.30. Yes you read that correctly. I used to go to the location in Madison, WI when I was in college there instead of going to Einsteins. It's been 10 years but there is no way in heck that the cost of this should be near that. I ordered a spicy sausage, soft fried egg and cheese on an everything bagel and that was it. As you can see the bagel was huge and the fixings were all skimpy. 1 extra thin slice of cheddar, 1 small egg and a mini sausage patty is what they consider reasonable portions. Then to top it off, when I was paying it automatically added a tip even though I was taking it to go. Tips on to go orders are insane. The worst thing was that the gentleman in front of me ordered a chocolate milk for his daughter and the service was great and cheery. Once the cashier with the blond hair and glasses heard us talking about Trump and all the great things that have been happening politely, the cashier became upset and clearly changed his service quality. Gave the food the to gentleman with an attitude and did the same for me. Put your emotions to the side bud. We pay $15 for a bagel and not attitude. Never going back to Gotham Bagel and sticking with NYC Bagel Deli on Dearborn and Illinois. Best fresh bagels in Chicago hands down. When you tip there willingly, the whole crew says thank you and even the guys in the kitchen! read more

We got one breakfast sandwich which was not good, the filling was was bland and just very average, lowering the quality of the bagel. Neighborhood gem. Great spot to drop in for a tasty bagel sammy and hot coffee. Got the Brighton Beach today and if you like salmon, its really great and fresh. They just remodeled and have new indoor and outdoor seating on Dearborn as opposed to the back of pick up window. It looks nice. Staff is very friendly and service is quick. I was in town and Gotham has been on my bagel list for quite some time. I almost missed it walking by because the sign said a different restaurant. The inside was a bit snug, and since it was Sunday morning it was pretty busy. I got a bacon egg and cheese on a sesame bagel with a vanilla matcha latte and vanilla. The bagel itself was flavorful, and I'm very particular about how the bacon is cooked. The bacon was really crispy (how I like it!) and the cheese was nice and gooey. I had to ask them for more vanilla flavoring in my matcha but that's just a personal preference. I probably wouldn't order a matcha from here again but will definitely rely on gotham bagels to satisfy my bagel addiction next time I'm in town! read more

I Wouldn't have even known it was there, but the nearby place we were headed for was closed, and the cold weather drove us to the first available spot. Fine bagels and proficient service. Lox: tasty and fresh! People have been talking up Gotham Bagels to me for a while. Are they good? Absolutely. Are they the best? Only perhaps if you've never been to New York Bagel and Bialy up on Touhy. This is a nice, but tiny location, and it was very cozy on a weekday morning. A good place for coffee, bagels, and catching up with a friend. Not too busy. Quiet enough to do some work too. read more

Gotham Bagels inside Eduardos Restaurant is a hidden gem. It is a regular stop for us when we go to Chicago, which is about once a month. If we stay a week, I'm there at least 2 to 3 times a week ordering their asiago cheese, toasted bagel, sliced with plain cream cheese on the side. It is absolutely the best Asiago cheese bagel I've had. Rivals any New York deli. The coffee is excellent as well, in my opinion. If you like Starbucks coffee, you may not like this coffee. Personally Starbucks is too strong and bitter for me. The atmosphere is very welcoming, urban and the music they play is kind of jazzy and eclectic. They have indoor and outdoor seating. In the evening, Eduardo's take over I will review that later. read more

We were staying at the Claridge House a few doors down and our lobby was packed with folks looking for breakfast and coffee. I took a walk as I figured there HAD to be another spot that wasn't as crowded and saw the Gotham Bagels sign in the window of the Eduardo's Restaurant. I remember the chain from other cities I'd visited and knew I could order online. Sure, enough, within 10 minutes I had an awesome breakfast bagel sandwich as well as a half dozen of those plump, crunchy/yet chewy beauties, and a "schmear" in my hands going back to our hotel room. Like too big for the bagel we got which is saying something because these bagels are huge. A little confusing to find with the banner that is posted on Dearborn but it is directly next to the USA Vein Clinic on S Plymouth court and Ida B Wells drive. The omfg bagel got me omfg-ing. Once you walk in, you'd probably think you are in the wrong spot. Looks like a bar but just walking down, and you will see the order counter. It's very dimly lit but I found out that this place turns into a bar at night. So cool. Staff were great and super friendly. My order came out less than 10 minutes. I ordered the OMFG bagel on an everything bagel with extra scallion spread. It was loaded and definitely messy to eat. The fried egg exploded on me so be careful. The bagel was perfectly toasted; soft yet crispy texture. I enjoyed my bagel so much! I ate half of it there and saved the other half for the airport. They have a nice spacious outdoor seating in front. The OMFG bagel was the popular item and I can see why. It had fried chicken, cheese, fried egg, bacon bagel with sriracha aioli. I added the scallion cream cheese and it was a game changer!! It was totally worth it. IMO I think it's better than some bagel places here in San Jose, CA. I highly recommend! read more

NGL I couldn't find this spot right away. It wasn't immediately clear that it's inside another restaurant. But I stopped in here to take a bagel sandwich to go. I was able to park in a 15 minute standing zone across the street while I ran in. I was in and out within 15 minutes. For myself I ordered the spicy sausage on asiago and I got the Brighton beach on asiago for my husband. The total was about $35 for both. The sausage sandwich was okay. It was a little dry, and the bagel was chewy so it was hard to eat. However, I did get a fried egg over hard because I planned to eat it in the car. It probably would've been better with an over easy egg. The Brighton bagel was much better. Even though we ate it a few hours later, it was fresh and flavorful. My husband says he likes New York Bagel and Bialy better. Personally I don't eat bagels that often so I can't tell. I'd get the Brighton or another bagel next time. read more

Decided to try a local place than a chain bagel shop. The reviews on Yelp were a hit or miss. I can see why people claimed it's over priced, I agree for the portions and quality. The bagel was dry even with fillings inside and the over easy egg was underwhelming. Every bagel ordered did come with a third of a picked wrapped in foil like a condiment. I would suggest to look at the menu and have an idea of what you want because the ordering process is fast and can be overwhelming when you read their in store menu. I was one of their early bird customers on a Saturday morning so the food was fast. read more

My beautiful and genius fiancé found this bagel place while in town. On a Friday morning we journeyed the streets and into Gotham Bagels. It was a great move. The bagels are extremely chewy. I attempted to get a bagel here this morning. Walked the mile which was a nice walk to get there. You order while outside at a window. I asked the lady if this is where you order and she directed me to their online menu and informed me to order there and pick up at window. I went online and even though the board outside says they have cinnamon and raisin online it was not available. Ok got a sesame but could not for the life of me find how to add cream cheese. I went on to order coffee and they did not have half and half only oat milk. At this point I had enough gave up and went elsewhere. It should not be that hard to order a bagel with cream cheese and a coffee. read more

Finally got to try this place and it didn't disappoint! I ordered ahead on the app and waited on their little patio which was cute! Perfect day out to sit and enjoy this. The spicy ketchup and potato later really took this to another level. The pick-up spot is inside another restaurant to the back but you won't miss it with the outdoor patio. We stayed at the hotel down the block, so one morning, I ordered online and picked it up to take back to the hotel. The ordering process, including notification texts, was easy. They prepared them super quick. We got the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel, the OMFC (Nashville fried chicken, egg, bacon and cheddar, side of spicy aioli and pickle). We also ordered an everything bage with scallion cream cheese. Both breakfast sandwiches were really good. There was so much cream cheese on the bagel, they didn't skimp. They have turned a normal bagel shop into steamed, stuffed bagel sandwiches on steroids. The sandwiches have crazy names, interesting flavor combinations, over-stuffed and are not shy on ingredients. The menu is divided into numerous different meats, vegan options and breakfast selections. CBA's space is very tight with a robust take-out service. There are a few tables but CBA is more of an order, grab and go. We ordered the Belmont, a steamed bagel with smoked ham, maple sausage, chive cream cheese, jalapeno, egg, Gouda and pepper jack cheese. It was served hot, tasty and "over-stuffed" with ingredients. The orders here take time due to the volume they serve. One could order a different sandwich each day over 2 months and never have the same sandwich. Chicago Bagel Authority is killing the bagel sandwich market in the Lakeview area. Even though the wait is longer, the flavors and taste are well worth it. They have crunch, chew, density, but air pockets. Chef/owners def put thought into the menu with flavors like zatar, dilly ranch deviled eggs. Dr. Browns sodas. Baclava cappuccinos. White fish on bagel chips, Bagel dog is such a simple combination of not just the everything bagel seasoning, but the dough as well. And the mustard pairs better than had they added schmear (sorry Seattle dogs, i'm not a fan, i only like my cream cheese in philadelphia sushi rolls, lol) . The pizza bagel needs more toppings like pepperoni, sausage becuase then it would eat like a normal size bagel bite. The challah bread on the rachel really is more well rounded than the reuben. It's something I've been recreating back home. Giard cream cheese, cmon ya'll are really hitting the nail on the head for a Chicago bagel shop. I guess that's why there are 3 locations now. The Haystack with apple butter works better than expected, but also works with a chive cream cheese sub, no ketchup needed (if you do go with the harissa ketchup from the yada yada). BEC with a side of salted tomato and harissa ketchup is amazing. If everything was 10% more like toppings wise this would be amazing, but they always seem to skimp on something whether it's the schmear, pickels, salad. I feel like i was haggling for my meal sometimes. Prices area little high for most items, but of great value for others. It's busy in the mornings, but lines move long and only once did I have to wait for a fresh batch of anything despite some large orders ahead of me. It's a 20 minute train ride, but worth it. Prime location near Wrigley.
