And Failed to give me a receipt or paper anything saying I went to them and they messed with my brakes and tires in case anything happened. Went in for a free brake check on my 1990 Toyota Tercel, they didn't fix it because they don't work on cars 95 and back apparently. Too hard to find parts is what they said. I just had an oil change and visited this place for the first time. Jocelyn, the receptionist was very friendly and accommodative to my appointment times. The work was done in a reasonable amount of time and they did a free total car inspection with emailed pictures and a report showing what needed to be attended to soon and what could wait. I went to this shop after reading reviews. I needed help with a Lexus and Candelario is a Toyota and Honda expert mechanic. But he works on other brands too. I don't trust mechanics and dealers as I had way to many problems with the "quality" of their work and the overcharges. I always check everything after someone else has touched my cars, and I usually find something out of place or damaged. Last time I had my coolant replaced, the Toyota dealer didn't even purged the system properly and the overflow reservoir was empty! And in the past I had oil changes done at the Infiniti dealer and they forgot to tighten all the screws of the bottom engine cover. Many of the mechanics at dealers these days are young and inexperienced. And the dealers push them hard to not spend much time on a car while charging 2 arms and 2 legs. Many experienced mechanics start their own shops, disenchanted with ever changing dealer's managers. I am an engineer and I tend do everything myself as it is usually simple and cheaper to jut buy the right tools. Just sometimes hard work physically. But this time I needed (wanted) help with a difficult situation. I had an engine check light and Code 0450 on one of my cars, a 2002 Lexus with 208,000 miles. The car runs like a clock and has everything original. That's why we buy only Lexus (or Toyota). I had diagnosed the problem to the fuel tank pressure sensor but it sits on top of the tank with no access from the top (no floor opening). As this car is a 4WD, the drive shaft had to be removed and the tank dropped. I didn't feel like doing it myself, I am retired and getting old. I met Candelario and he promised to troubleshoot it for a very reasonable price. As promised he called exactly when he said he would, and he confirmed that the problem was at the tank pressure sensor. The sensor was fine (amazingly after 22 years and 208k miles), but the little jumper wire harness that goes to it was chewed up and 2 wires were cut. He smartly looked with a little mirror at the end of a telescopic and, and he saw the problem. Obviously a rodent did that, there are many rats in Simi Valley. This is a very common issue as car makers use many recyclable plastics that are tasty to hungry rodents! I can't imagine a dealer either willing or capable to do this work, or not overcharging, or simply telling me to buy a new car! A few years ago I had an estimate done at Toyota to check this car and estimate the cost of fixing all issues if any. Their estimate was over $10K !!! Whether it needed to be done or not is highly questionable, more like what they recommended...
