This place was always just ok. Well then Covid comes along and I get it they take precautions. Well the Colorado County Supervisor opens up Columbus Tx so no mask needed for entering businesses. Well you walk in here and the Mask Nazi = Hostess jumps on you and will not seat you without a mask. People explain they have a waiver (ADA Act or the Governor has stated that underlying medical conditions are exempt from wearing a mask-person had a copy of the Governor's letter) Mask Nazi said she don't care and neither do the owners. No mask no service. Person explained they are in violation of Federal law again Schobel's s didn't care about their rights, lawsuits or anything. Schobel's are the big name around here cause they had two boys play in the NFL. Big deal. They got money and don't care for the little person. So I watched the couple leave and my family and I turned around and left also. I will not give my hard earned money to disrespectful people like that. I will never eat there again!! Shame on you Schobel's "family" Reataurant. You do nothing to help the community! Nothing!!! Only think about your pockets. Take an example from Blake Street or Joes. I work with many restaurants in the Industry and am proud of my reputation. Schobel's is probably the finest example of Texas Comfort Food I have found. In fact, it is SO GOOD, that I will fire up the motorhome and make the trip to Columbus just to have the family "make a go it" at their buffet. (YOU HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THEIR BUFFET!!!!) I don't do business with Schobels, but I am so happy to endorse them. Just read a terrible review below that prompted me to write my own. That guy has some personal issues which is his business. A wonderful, amazingly fresh buffet. The vegetables were fresh, and not from a can. The selection was astounding, and one has the choice between healthy or comfort food. The meatloaf was great, the fried chicken was amazing, and don't pass up the awesome buttermilk pie! I didn't have high expectations for this buffet restaurant, but I have to say that I was blown away by the quality and freshness of the food and the friendly service! There were employees constantly bringing out fresh food to replace what had been taken, and I enjoyed everything I tried. I didn't try any desserts but my 13 year old and her friends enjoyed them.
