First time eating here. Portions were great, but unfortunately the food was adequate and not worth the price.

This is our first visit and and everything we put our mouth on was A-mazing !! we were super impressed with the quality of the foo, freshness and taste! we had tacos, brisket by the pound and brisket Mac The service in this establishment is much di from the norm. When you walk in to the pit you are greeted and decide there what meat you are interested in. Then into the dining room to get the rest of your dinner. So at checkout you have already talked and worked with 7-8 employees by this time and it's like the are all there for you, not just one waitress. Very unique experience and environment! So glad we went in early afternoon so it wasn't busy but I sure would love to come back for live music soon! read more

Food was good, nothing to write home about unfortunately. Service was great from my experience as a call in pick up order. Husband went to go get it so I have no clue about the ambiance. Pretty disappointed with the price but maybe that's just how much bbq costs now? Or was just paying that price for the name? We tried the Wet brisket (average and a little dry on the meat side), Street Corn (spicy), cheesy potatoes (pretty good), my mother liked her Brisket burrito,and my father had the Nachos but with Pulled Pork and he seemed to enjoy it and there was a good amount, enough for 2 meals for him. I wish they would just have prices on their menu online so I had a better idea of what I was about to pay. read more

I want to like this place. Have been here several times and loved it. But not tonight. Went in, ordered a stuffed potato to go. Told the man at the checkout counter what I was getting. He said to wait for it to come out before paying. 15 -20 minutes later I walked out. The guy came running out into the parking lot and told me it was ready. When I checked out I asked the lady behind the counter why it took so long. She told me there were orders ahead of me. Excuse this, but that was absolute bull#^}. I was standing by the counter. No one else was served. Literally no one. Not sure I'm coming back. Hate that, but I have a crazy rule about not giving my money to anyone who doesn't seem to care about me or offering even reasonably good service. And...got home and ready to dive in. The potato was great...salted skin and cooked well. Really a good size, too. Brisket was tender and tasty....what of it there was. On a large potato I spent $17 on, MAYBE a half a cup of meat. I realize prices are skyrocketing, but even after I cut it up and mixed everything in the potato was still 90% of what was there. And surprisingly...no sauce. Damn. I hate writing this!!! read more

Hands down best barbecue in Belton! I absolutely love their Tex mex bbq. They have delicious meats all around, but you GOTTA try something off the Tex mex menu. I highly reccomend the brisket nachos or birria brisket tacos. The service is incredible and the inside environment truly makes you feel at home. We were treated with the utmost respect by the manager who also served us our food! Lastly, they have the best sides out of any bbq I've gotten in this area. While I'm not sure this is Top 10 bbq in Texas, it's pretty good. We stopped on the way to San Antonio. It's a quick little exit, easy-on, easy-off on the South side of Temple, just past the city limit sign! It's a nice big restaurant for sit down service, but you can also get to-go orders. A quick little stop for great Chopped Beef sandwiches is all you need, but alas, no fries! They do have several side options though, so you can just pick what you want! The Chopped beef sandwich is simple and good. Choose regular or sweet-and-spicy on the sauce, and it comes with pickles and onions! What else could you possibly want? (Hint: if you need more, you need better BBQ). This is clearly a family run joint, so I have no problem paying a little extra! If you want cheap, there's a ton of soul-less fast food restaurants up the street. If you want quality, flavor, and to help a small business... Was the BBQ anything better than something I could have got in Austin? No...it was just OK. BBQ sauce was nothing I would choose over Sweet Baby Ray's. The ordering and checkout process was tedious. When we lived in Texas, we used to visit Schoepf's fairly regularly, so when we were in Texas last week, we had to stop. The brisket and sausage was just as delicious as we remembered it, as well as the sides. The jalapeño cheddar sausage is just fabulous and the brisket, as always, is fork tender, moist and smoky. They have a handful of sides to go with that are all tasty, but honestly, the smoked meats and sausages are the stars IMHO. If you're in the Belton area, stop and give 'em a try. Going here for years and this place has good food but it's the most expensive bbq restaurant in town which you'd think would translate into better service but it does not. The "watch dogs" that work there refuse to make sure your food is prepared correctly and you have to fight for pickles, onions and bbq sauce. They ought to change the name to "$100 bucks" because that's what it will cost to be treated like a criminal just because you ask for what you paid for. The service was decent but honestly the guy at the front was kind of rude when we walked in we were not greeted the only thing the guy said was "We only have brisket and sausage" and that was pretty much it. Than we get to the side portions and we didnt see any pricing signs so we assumed that they were sold with our food as a plate but we were so wrong. Me and my father both got 2 sides (the smallest available) and about 1/4 of meat and one drink each and our total came out to about $72 which is ridiculous. Was invited to this spot for a gathering. First time going to a bbq joint in TX. They cook the food right in front of you. Had no issue with the bbq itself. Definitely enjoyed the food. We ordered simple just in case because it was our first time. I also picked up a piece of strawberry cake to try. Happy I tasted it before we left. The piece of cake was $7.95. It was crispy not soft. I did get a refund after the one bite. Some lady came to the table and told me the cakes were fresh. Made this morning. We were there at 7 pm. If they were made "THIS MORNING" ma'am. No it's not fresh. I was set back by the way she made it a point to come to our table to tell me she checked the cake I returned and it was a good piece. HAHA okay per you. Per me, nope. Also the brisket did not have a smoke ring. I was told the grilled cheese was on Texas toast. I got 2 thin small slices of brisket on each side of the sandwich cut in half. And looked like regular old bread to me. Food came out at 7:09 pm. We ordered food at 6:41 pm. We also ordered the Brisket Mini tacos. Unfortunately our food was cold. They call themselves TexMex. They should NOT do this. Overpriced for what you get. Food is mediocre. The brisket nachos were great, feeds two, however, need to popcorn-e-fi them a little bit more so that all the yummy stuff is all over and not just on top. My husband and I decided to stop by on our way from Dallas to San Antonio - I really wish we hadn't. We love supporting small businesses and usually don't care about the price HOWEVER this place was overpriced for the food and service, in my opinion. We paid almost $80 for what we ordered, but then it got progressively worse! We ordered one of the "Specials" and other things, all were okay, but nothing that was just, wow. Here's where things got annoying: we ordered our food and we had to make some adjustments as they were out of certain things, which is fine, that's usually what happens at BBQ places later in the day-no problem. We paid and had to wait to get some of the items, again, not an issue. Then, one of the ladies let us know they were out of queso, and that we had to choose something else, I provided two options and went back to the car because we had our dogs in there. After about 5 minutes my husband comes back out to let me know that the first option was off the table as they were out and if he chose the second option they would have to charge us $9 more, so I went back in to choose something else. I then proceed to choose for a THIRD time. Guess what, after about 5 minutes they let us know they are also out and cannot make it. So at this point I'm annoyed and I'm pretty sure they can tell, so instead of just apologizing she suggests that I just don't get anything else and she can process a refund. So that's what I did. After saying I was done choosing she went ahead and apologized, process a refund and we were on our way. Overall the service from the blonde girl was eh, the brunette girl - she was amazing from the moment we walked in, and the food was okay. Awesome mac and cheese, beans, and wet brisket. Great turkey. If you only have one meat, I recommend the wet brisket. Or, just go with a big group and have one of everything! Okay so I had a hard time wrapping my head around the reviews but I get it now. This place is probably closer to 3.5 than 4, but I round of for family businesses. Also, the pictures are not as good as the food actually looks and I don't know why. We went in at 6:30 on a Friday night. I ordered a quarter pound each of brisket and sausage. I get why people gripe about the prices. They would have been high a year ago, but they're in line with market at the moment. Food stocks, demand, and supply chain issues are all impacts, so I'm giving them a pass. Brisket - incredibly tender, phenomenal flavor. The rub compliments the meat instead of over powering it. Unfortunately, it was also dry. Jalapeño Sausage- incredible flavor, but overcooked and dry. Borracho beans - average. Hate they are served in a boat. Scalloped Potatoes - surprisingly good. Clearly made fresh, can taste a hint of sour cream and chive. Really good. Peach Cobbler - The best I've ever had. I would violate the Geneva convention and stack bodies for this cobbler. Brisket Nachos - really good, wish I had gotten the queso on them though. Rookie move. Overall this place is good, but not quite living up to its full potential. The ingredients are fresh, the prices are reasonable for the quality of the ingredients, but there is just a small something missing in the smoking process that's leading to food being a little on the dry side.
