Drive by this pizza place all the time and decided to stop in. Very glad we did, upset at myself for not stopping in way before today. The pizza was cooked to perfection and the meatballs were very tasty. They broke the meatballs up and spread it around before the cook. Service was polite and quick. Stepping in there Lyon wouldn't think much of the place but I like the old aesthetics and cozy feeling of an old dive. Will definitely be back for the pizza and to try the grinders. read more

Sat at the counter and watched as the preparer took two meatballs from a bin, mashed them up on a cutting board with his bare hands, (no gloves), and shoved the mess into a roll. I recently gave Scituate Famous Pizza a try again, after discovering they were on Grubhub. I hadn't ordered from them in about seven years. I am pleased to say that this awesome local pizza place is back in top form. The Italian Grinder is the perfect combination of crispy and doughy bread, great deli meats and melty cheese! The pizza's have a perfectly crispy crust, melty, gooey cheese and perfectly baked toppings. I haven't dealt with the staff recently, because I've ordered through Grubhub, but people I know tell me that the staff is friendly and nice. I have had a good experience with the food so I'll be making an effort to try eating at the restaurant again soon! read more

Since the pandemic they have changed their hours and phone number. They also were only expecting cash. Also it seems they've changed the quality of food as well Luckily I googled them and found their new number. Ordered pepperoni & Olive pizza and was disappointed. It's scary how many times I've driven by Famous but had never had their food until a few days ago. Not sure if they're associated with the West Warwick location but I have to say this one was better. I ate in on a Monday night, takeout was steady..a few people dining in not too crazy. The guys working were cool had some sense of humor I could tell by him busting my chops about how much salad dressing I wanted lol..all good. The inside was cozy not really big but not cramped either. Very clean, warm..I was diggin the atmosphere. I ordered the grilled chicken salad and it was DELICIOUS. Not all salads are equal, trust me I eat enough of them to know outstanding when I see/eat it. Everything was super fresh the chicken was so good I loved it..up there with some of the best I've had,even at fancy expensive places. The bf got a large pizza he said it was awesome as well. Food is solid, but new management is allowing employees to steal from customers. I have been twice in recent weeks and the first time was told that the couldn't print a CC receipt. I figured it wasn't a big deal, but the scumbag behind the counter added a $10 tip. Obviously no proof, but who leaves a $10 tip for takeout Paid with cash the next time, same guy tells me it is $48 for 2 pizzas. When I questioned it, he backtracks and says $37. Stopped in for a pepperoni pizza, and man oh man, I am I glad I did. The pizza is cooked in like cast-iron. the pizza was nice and caramelized and crispy. Nice and cheesy, and beautifully crunchy pepperoni. I went to town on this thing and savored every bite. I'll be back. read more

Not Bad We stopped in this little pizza joint coming from Connecticut on the way to Massachusetts. The subs were great, just a little too rich for my blood. Granted, the large sub was 2 subs, so it was worth it. The staff was excellent and friendly. There are some really cool pictures in there, and the guy making the pizzas was telling stories about the different pictures and autographs. Plenty of room to sit with a large bar type counter to sit at and order, but the the problem is that don't serve beer. How do you have an old pizza joint and no beer. The people behind Famous Pizza are the kind of people who make a community strong and supportive and a nice place to live. My toddler was carsick on the road near here and I pulled into Famous Pizza's parking lot to clean him up. It was an awful situation all around - my son crying and not feeling well as I tried to clean him with a baby wipe. Someone (the owner maybe?) came out and gave me a roll of paper towels and a plastic bag and told me he has kids too and we've all been there. Even aside from the real help the supplies were, he made me feel like I wasn't alone and that there are kind people around to help me and my son through life. Maybe that's too deep or sappy for a yelp review, but this place deserves your business not only for the pizza but because of the genuinely good people behind it - the world is a better place with businesses like this in it. read more

Stopped into this place while on business. While it wouldn't be my first pick, it's also the only place in the area. I ended up getting the tuna sandwich. It was surprising ok. I'll tell ya though, the two gentlemen working were great. Super friendly and accommodating. Not being from here, I don't know if people eat inside a lot...but with that being said, the temperature in the place was crazy hot. Pretty bad food. Just ordered a steak, mushroom, onion grinder and the bread was soaked to the point it was like eating wet croutons, not sure why it was so wet, it wasn't even grease?!? The peppers were just raw peppers he put on top of the grinder, not even fucking cooked! Yet, he decided to cook the mushrooms and onions? Wtf?!?Tasted really strange like freezer burned meat. I told guy at the counter who made it that it was terrible and asked for my check. The nice guy only charged me $5. The guy acted like I was an inconvenience to him by telling him how bad his food was instead of asking if he can remake it or fix the problem. He instead came up with a nice even $5 for the food I took one bite out of (before deciding to stop eating because it tasted like something that would make me sick. Famous Pizza makes me laugh because they're not famous for their pizza everyone loves them for their sandwiches. This place has the best grilled chicken grinder ever. I always get it with provolone, green peppers, lettuce, tomato and mayo. It's the friggin bomb. The guys who work in there are cool too...very chill. Not impressed at all. I have heard great things about this place. I went there today and asked for 4 large pizzas cut in 16 pieces each. I gave them a little more than an hour to prepare them. I ran some errands and went back to pick them up. The pizzas were ready on time, smelling awesome and nice and warm. I headed out to a family party. When I arrived and opened the boxes I was not excited about the looks. First of all each pizza was only in slices of 8. The cheese and topping fell off each slice as we tried to pick them up. When I'm in the mood for greasy, comfort food, artery clogging pizza, I go to Famous. The crust is chewy, with a crisp outside, just the way I like it. On the thick side, but not like chicago style. The pepperoni is cured and thick, to the point of where the oil pools inside the curled up little piece of goodness. I really did mean it when I said artery clogging. I always get take away, but if you're in the mood for sitting and enjoying your pizza, there is a bar area and you can watch your pizza being made. Take out has always been on time and never wrong. They also have beer. No waitresses, you just let the boys know what you want. Like I said, there is a mood I have to be in to get Famous, and it's not all the time, as I usually head down the street to Cuozzo's, but when in the mood, Famous is good. The Creamery was next door, but now the Village Tavern is there. I'm not a fan of their pizza (it's different) during the Art Festival, and it's really misleading. The pizza is thinner, and its obvious that they are taking down their quality to make some extra money. I'm still trying to find out why a simple large pizza from this place is 14.99 compared to 9.99 from EVERY other place around For miles. There IS no point of difference, sorry. I ordered two steak and cheese sandwiches over the last weekend. As one who's worked in he business, it was apparent the shaved steak is all pre-cooked and stored in a bin for whatever period of time. One of the sandwiches was ordered with onions which were (red onion) 'included' raw. It was apparent they have no idea how a shaved steak should be prepared. This place gets a bad rap. It's a family-owned pizza joint. No frills, just down home people serving good pizza. I think the pizza is delicious, cheesy with plenty of toppings and a chewy crust. But everyone has a different opinion of what a good pizza is. We get takeout often, and the staff is not cookie-cutter but friendly and nice to me and my daughter. Small pizza place we stopped at on way to the airport. You seat yourself, look at menu, then go to counter to order. I ordered drinks also and they told me to get from vending machine. $1.75 each. Back to table, not a long wait, they bring pizza to table. We ordered Hawaiian. It was good sauce, plenty of toppings. When your done, you take your pizza pan/trash to counter and pay. It was ok, inside decor different/outdated for sure. It was quiet inside but busy with what looked like mostly regulars. I would have given it a 4 for the pizza but the wait on myself and getting the drink from the vending machine was a bit of a turn off. Growing up in North Scituate, I've always gone to Famous every now and then. Their pizza, while pricey, has generally been pretty good consistently. Admittedly, I do like another pizza place in Scituate better, but yesterday some friends and I wanted pizza for a get together, and that other pizza place's pizza oven was unfortunately broken. So, we decided on Famous. We ordered two large cheese pizzas, 1 large veggie + cheese, and 1 small veggie pizza without cheese (vegan). The two cheese pizzas were a little floppy because they were undercooked, but they were edible and fairly good. The veggie + cheese pizza however? It was COMPLETELY RAW. Like, it was 100% dough in the center, completely inedible, and would have made us sick if we ate it. The vegan veggie was extremely doughy as well but not quite as bad as the other. Both pizzas we had to put in our oven to continue cooking and still weren't great after that. This is inexcusable. For the price we paid, we received food that was barely edible? Ridiculous. We won't be back. We will be going to the other pizza place in town for future get togethers, or if they're closed again - going with Chinese. read more
