Have purchased appliances in the past from Peter at Sclamo's. Went in recently and asked for pricing for a washer/dryer. Previously, Peter delivered for free. Since Ray at Better Electric retired, it appears that Sclamo's has assumed the customers from Better Electric. Asked Peter about free delivery and adding washing machine hoses as Ray had done at Better Electric. Peter went on to tell me that he is the largest dealer in Worcester County and has a large payroll. He told me that if I wanted free hoses to go and find Ray. Looks like he is now wearing a big hat and has a pompous attitude. I would never shop there again and urge others to shop around. I found prices that were better in Milford and Bellingham. Arrogant and pompous describes my experience at Sclamo's. You've lost a customer for life and word spreads fast! read more

We purchased a dishwasher from Scalamos for my mother in law. Shortly after she received it she experienced problems. The dishwasher continuously run for hours ( 8+) on a short cycle. After three attempts having repair people come out, it was determined that the motor was blown. They replaced the motor and the dishwasher still kept on running for hours when placed on a short wash cycle. I then contacted Scalmos and spoke with the owner Peter. Let's just say it was not a pleasant experience. He was rude, condescending, argumentative and simply incorrigible. He hung up on me twice. I simply told him that we wanted another brand new dishwasher shipped from kitchen aid ( not from them. I dont trust him as far as can throw him), or a full refund and we will buy from home depot or lowes. After he hung up on me twice, i called back and basically had to threaten to file a dispute/complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Consumer protection agency. I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism with any merchant in my life. The negative reviews about Scalamos are 100% true. Peter should retire as it is clear he has been working in sales far too long and is a miserable man. Eventually we got a new dishwasher from kitchen aid and the defective one was removed. Do yourself a favor and buy anywhere but Scalamos. This is a shady company with bad business practices. We will certainly never shop here again. read more

We purchased a dishwasher, propane gas stove and microwave there on 2/23/22. It took almost 2 weeks for them to deliver and install after us chasing them by phone to get ahold of the installer. Installer came installed everything. We told him that the flame on the stove needed to be adjusted. You couldn't get the flame to do simmer. He left it the way it was and told us we should have gotten a better stove and left. We called the store to complain and they could care less. They kept telling us they had the best installer. He was the worst installer we ever dealt with. With what he charged it should have been done right before he left. I will not ever deal with this company again and not recommend using them to anyone. Today 3/21 we have the guy that fixes the appliances that Whirlpool recommend and he did a great job. I would give them NO STARS if I could. Stay away from this place. read more

Call the store needed a new fridge spoke with Peter he said no problem come on down and will take care of you. I was in the store a total of maybe 15 minutes and Peter had gotten me a fridge that was my size and in my price range with no problem. He knew I had an issue with getting my old fridge out the door because of a small strip of weatherstripping. He noted on the paperwork Pedro and Benny were the delivery man they came in they took care of it they set up my fridge they put my door back on they put my weatherstripping back on and they Left with everything being exactly the same way it was before they came. All in all this was an amazing experience from this gentleman they made me feel like I had made the right choice and they had done so much in making sure I was comfortable before they left thank you we will return for another visit when we need more appliances read more

Great! Bought a mattress in the past. Lasted many years. Bought a Air Conditioner. Still works after 9 years. Now in new apt; bought a semi mini refrigerator (Avanti, about 5 ft. tall). Perfect! And lightweight. 2 very polite young men carried it up 3 flights of stairs. Set it up for me. Owner calls before they leave to be sure the product works, no damage to product or home. I bought a portable dishwasher and was told it would be installed after being dropped off. The total price was $723 with delivery included. When the delivery men arrived they were rude to me. They dropped the machine off and I asked them to please hook it up. John, the man who was delivering it said "I'll do it but can't come over every single time you need to do your dishes". I called and complained, to the owner of the company, Peter. He said I must have taken it the wrong way. I also mentioned there was some cosmetic damage on the side of it and he said that is normal and would be normal at any other large retailer. I sent him proof of the damage as well. He refused to return the item and after much back and forth, he agreed to refund me $75. He had hung up on me after saying he would do this. I called back three times over the course of the next few days and week to ask how I would be getting the refund. I have yet to be called back. Do not go to Sclamos. I tried helping a smaller business out during these hard times but am completely dissatisfied with how I have been treated. For a $700 dishwasher, I expected it to be gleaming and without any damages. My concerns were completely ignored and I have never been treated so poorly by delivery people or an owner of the company. Peter was extremely rude, condescending, and dismissed the reasons for my call. They do not value their customers at all and I wish I would have gone to a larger retail store for this purchase. I know Home Depot/Lowes would never treat their customers this way. Big mistake on my part. I will never recommend or shop with Sclamos again and neither should you!!! read more

We went to Sclamo because we like to shop local businesses rather than the big box stores whenever possible. Bad choice in this case. We bought a refrigerator that was supposed to have an ice maker installed. It was delivered with the ice maker in a box. We had to chase them for days to get them to send someone to install it. The owner griped, "What do you want, at least you've got a working refrigerator." (The one we replaced worked and had an ice maker). More than once they scheduled to come and didn't show up. The guy who finally came wasn't wearing a mask, communicated in grunts and connected the fitting wrong so it leaked through our floor to the basement. When we called about the leak and insisted they come back and do it right, the owner grudgingly agreed to send someone out "as a courtesy." They sent the same guy who put it in wrong in the first place. He showed up maskless again. He never even looked at the refrigerator. He told us it wasn't their problem and to call a plumber or the manufacturer. We ended up fixing it ourselves. A small thing that could easily have been resolved became a time wasting source of aggravation for us. Once these people had our money they treated us like a nuisance. I don't see how they've stayed in business this long. read more

Not only did it not work but the tech who installed the washing machine cross threaded the line which caused a flood in my home damaging two floors. Sclamo's has some of the best customer service I've ever dealt with. I bought a fridge from them about a month ago (a beautiful stainless steel side by side Fridgidaire for only $275, refurbished - retails brand new for $2,000) and the man who helped us, Jamie, was extremely personable and helpful. He had us explain what we were looking for rather than steer us towards what he wanted to sell, and even dropped the price of the one we really wanted. He was also very knowledgeable about what they sell - no pushiness or sketchiness. We were also very happy to learn their refurbished items come with a 60 day warranty. Delivery was free and they delivered the next day - in a different town on a 2nd floor apartment with painfully narrow stairs. A few weeks after buying it, the fridge was just not keeping cold. I called and they sent someone the very next day. Well lo and behold, it was MY fault, not the fridge's, because I had stuffed the freezer so full, frost was accumulating and there was no air flow going to the fridge. BJ, the man who came to repair it, took one look at it, knew exactly what the problem was and spent about a half an hour melting the frost off with a blow dryer. He even replaced a cable inside "just in case" and now it works like a charm. He even explained to me how to pack the freezer to allow proper flow and explained the mechanics of the problem. Any other appliances we purchase in the future will be coming from Sclamo's. Could not ask for better service and prices. read more

Horrible horrible in customer service and delivery of merchandise. The sales man James was all to eager to hello me in my purchase. Unfortunately not computer savvy. I looked for it myself on his computer showed him what I wanted he never bothered to put everything down. Not until delivery did I realize I didn't have everything I wanted. Not to mention my daughter's dresser knobs aren't centered they are to the left. I wish I could take a picture and post it. I've been calling and calling to have them fix this. So, my wife bought a bunk bed here, and it still wasn't confirmed in stock, let alone delivered, weeks later. I called to figure out the issue, and was told that it was on backorder, and they couldn't guarantee if it would ever come in, and couldn't guarantee a time by when they would be able to tell us if it would ever come in. So, we bought a possibility that may or may not exist? I asked if they'd be able to sell the floor model, and she said she could sell it for full price. I admittedly made a stink. She offered 10% off. Considering the circumstances and the fact that this is the floor model they've had on the floor for months, I said I'd expect more. She offered 11%. Seriously? I asked for a refund. We were told that there were no returns. I said that they took our money but could not guarantee that we would ever receive what we purchased, and, as an attorney, I was demanding my money back. So, to their credit, she did refund my money. I recently purchased a washer and dryer here. To start there was a mix up on the delivery! Once they arrived the delivery men installed both, but I had to fish around in back of the washer for the plug to finish the installation, which was minor compared to what happened to the dryer! Put clothes in and started the dryer and heard a strange buzz and the dryer stopped! A neighbor is an electrician and solved the problem. The delivery man had hooked the pigtail incorrectly which burnt it out and could have caused a fire, but luckily the circuit breaker switched off! Called Sclamo's and was told they could send a technician the next afternoon, which I requested sooner and was not guaranteed! The technician did arrive earlier and replaced the new pigtail (which I had purchased) with then old one from my 20 year old dryer! Called again, after having another electrician pay a visit (at my expense) and was told that the breaker had suffered a mishap (loose wire) which caused it to blow again! Called the store once again and asked to speak to a manager, several times, and was not connected but talked to the female that answered the phone and was told "We will send technician on Monday with new pigtail, they would not help to pay for my expense incurred with the electrician, and they were WASHING THEIR HANDS after the new pigtail is installed," Will NEVER set foot in Sclamo's again, and would advise the same to anyone thinking of purchasing anything from them! read more

Very disappointed with parts that I brought for my stove. They were stovetop grates that I brought and were painted by Sclamos. When I got home and started to cook on them the paint immediately became soft and started to run and they started to turn off yellow color I could also smell the burning paint which is a little troubling as I have an infant in the house. I brought them back to the store they said they would repaint them which was what I needed. So I had to make another trip back to the store to pick them up. I once again cooked on them and the same thing is starting to happen! The stove grates look like S**t and they won't come clean and they are smudging again from the high heat! I don't appreciate being mislead and have spent a great deal of time and money going back and forth to the store. Now I will have to spend more money to get them correctly repainted! To start I ordered a washing machine from Home Depot Black Friday deal,completed purchase online,received confirmation and delivery date 10 days out,a little long but accepted. On the day of delivery get a call from Home Depot that it would be another 10 days item out of stock,really after 10 days. In a panic and quite pissed I ran down to Sclamos and was greeted promptly I explained my situation and my dismay with Home Depot and also explained why my less than 2 year old washer failed me. Upon hearing this one of the techs asked me a few questions and come to find out we were committing two detrimental things regularly. One was too much detergent,another was only using cold water. I quickly went online to find the best price on the washer I was looking at and he matched the price without hesitation,wrote it up and within 15 minutes I was having it delivered the next day. When I got home I found out no one would be home to accept delivery after 10:45 am. I called to postpone delivery to the following day and he asked why,put me on hold for a minute and then said he would bump my delivery to 9:30. I was beyond happy with a mountain of dirty clothes stacking up asap was a must. Showed up,installed,removed old washer and came through for me as advertised.you can never make all of the people happy all of the time,that being said they came through for me big time and I'm not going to hesitate to use them again read more

My friend just had a Horrible experience there and has been going on for weeks now. Didn't deliver her kitchen set with the rest of her furniture and said they couldn't find where it went. Really?? So they gave her another to use while they try to "find" the other one. She hates it and so do I so they told her her old set would be in in July. Absolutely loved my king size bed I ordered. Had a few issues though so ultimately I wouldn't recommend this place. One when we ordered it seemed the kind of bed where you didn't need a box spring and when it was delivered the guy said we didn't. So they got here to deliver it and realize they didn't have the right tools so they had to run to the hardware store...no problem. They got back and started putting it together and I guess one of the guys messed up and ruined the headboard. It happens I guess so we were like whatever as long as it gets done today because we took the day off to be here. They left and said someone would come back to pick up the broken headboard. Someone came by and grabbed it but didn't tell us what was going on. So, we called the manager and she said it'd be about a week to get a new headboard from the warehouse. We were very upset and said explained how we missed work for this. We then worked somethings out for the next day...to miss work again. Whatever. So two new people come and put it together and what do we find out oh we need a box spring so now we get to sleep on the couch while we wait for a box spring to be delivered weeks later. Completely inconvenient but like I said were in love with the bed frame and the mattress is great so it is what it is. Next time I know to take my business elsewhere which is unfortunate since my aunt recommended this place to me and I had to tell her about our nightmare so someone loyal like her probably won't consider doing business with them anymore as well. read more
