Tried this place for the first time last weekend. The waitress who served us was awesome, very friendly and she really took care of us (hence the 3 star review). Once we ordered, the meals seemed to take forever to come out. The menu and food were nothing to write home about. When I think of my meal, I just feel "meh." Stopped here twice for late night dinner on a recent vacation to Wausau. The place is quite large, but was relatively quiet both times we were there. The food was excellent: the sweet potato fries with dill aioli are a great starter. The cheese curds are quite good as well: very lightly breaded and then quick fried, so you get lots of cheesy goodness and just a hint of breading. The beer selection is good, with a focus on craft and local brews. The clear winner was the old fashioned. This was hands-down the best old fashioned I have ever had. They make their own bitters and simple syrup, and it shows. Wait staff were friendly, quick, and attentive. Getting the hostesses attention later at night was a bit of a challenge, but we came in the back door, so all is forgiven. They have pool tables for rent by the hour, but we didn't get to play. They have a couple of 9 footers and the rest were Valley tables. Looks like a great place to hang out and play, but there wasn't any action going on while we were there. read more

Great patio with above average food. The standouts were the ranch dressing and the seasoning on the chips that came with my sandwich. I really enjoyed the cheese curds, which were unique with some dill in the coating. They were pretty salty though. I thought my Ruben was just alright. I didn't care for the deviled eggs special or that they have Pepsi products. Personally I think Pepsi should be illegal. I'd definitely go back for the patio. Friend and I went out on a weekday night and found this place fairly busy, and after the lack of welcome I kinda wanted to turn around and leave. The wait. For a table was slightly confusing, but not terribly long. Communication was lacking as the staff seemed either overwhelmed or inexperienced. We each ordered cocktails, and mine was perfectly good, but they missed the opportunity to sell more to us than they did as we were barely attended in the hours we were there. Flatbread was okay, but menu description was not realized. I went with a group and we ordered the veggie hash, avocado crab benny, bananas foster French toast, tostada, and the jumbo pecan grandmas cinnamon roll. It was all exceptional! Was seated by hostess at 7. Two waitresses and bartender made eye contact several times. At 7:20, when no one paid any attention to us, I called the restaurant and asked for manager. Pretty cool, hip place. Went here for lunch during the week and they weren't busy but I can imagine its a very happening place at night or on the weekends. It just has that feel. Pool tables available. Very nice, attentive staff. Pretty good beer selection. We went here because we were told they have awesome cheese curds and they certainly do! Some of the best I've ever had although they were a bit salty. Unfortunately, the main course which for me was the avocado burger, was not that great. The burger had no seasoning and was just boring. They did have great steak fries! My fiancée had the beet burger and he said it was tasty. We'll try it again when we are in the area. Have only been there once since COVID-19 but have been there prior a few times. The good is good. Nothing spectacular but decent bar food. That's why they are getting 3. The service is not very good. Stick to sitting at the bar, the bartenders are usually significantly better. I've been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years. Just not a fan compared to other spots in town. The bar staff if pretty cool and they have a selection of beer but for a restaurant we haven't been impressed with anything we've tried on a couple of visits. Average pub fare, tried a trout dinner one time that was pretty much petrified when served. Pizza is OK but overall wouldn't be a choice for us unless someone else wanted to meet there. read more

Combining an excellent rotating beer selection with an amazing locally sourced menu, you cannot beat Sconni's. Their beer selection it the best in town and is renowned for getting in some very nice Rarities from lots of different breweries. The cuisine is locally sourced and features some great American staples but what stands out the most is the chef's menu. The chefs at Sconni's are top notch and highly creative coming up with some amazing dishes. Combine that with their friendly wait staff and it is a winning combination. The food wasn't anything to brag about but it was decently priced. The service was horrible. We had a group of 7 and the waitress that waited on us had my group speak very loudly across the table when there was plenty of room for her to come around. Secondly, when I was leaning over to talk to someone at my table, the waitress decides to wedge our water between us. Slightly rude especially without saying "excuse me". Cannot get enough of this restaurant! Have a great time every time we visit. Atmosphere is easy going & welcoming. Servers know the menu & daily specials details & can answer questions. An added bonus, you don't experience very often anymore, is the Sconni's servers actually have personalities, are friendly & act like they are glad you are there! Shout out to Ali & Taylor for always being fantastic & attentive and Angela, who hasn't been our server, yet, but still always chats with us because she's seen us in the restaurant before. Their menu has something for everyone. Anything we have ordered has been tasty and a good value for the price. Owners, Ben & Jack are usually around and pitching in. Ben has been our food server when a server was called away suddenly. Jack has brought our food to the table when our server was taking an order with another table, so we would have it served hot. Would highly recommend. If you don't have a good experience at Sconni's, it's probably you & not them! read more

Stopped here for a Friday lunch with my hubby. We were there early and the place was nice and quiet with just a few tables full. Service was great and I loved the fact that they have some interesting mirco-brews on tap. Some nice dark beers to try. The fish was great, the fries were hand made and even the slaw was good -- a mark of a good fish fry. It was a nice place for lunch and would go back again. My hubby wants to go in the evening and play a game or two of pool. I have been here twice now and have had a great experience both times. This was called Mickey's but a few years ago they switched up the direction of the restaurant to its current incarnation. This was a great move. The interior decoration is fantastic with a north woodsy vibe. The beer selection is great with many options from around Wisconsin. The food is also very good.
