This place really gets 10 stars. Are you hungry? If so, this place is it. Where do I start? Any of the food you try here is super delicious and blows the city competitors out of the water. No lie. A turkey sandwich and mashed potatoes makes my world go round, but then the sliced brisket and the greens are a great pair as well. There is no wrong choice and you won't leave disappointed. Stopped here on the way from Buena vista to Denver and are we glad we did. Called first to be sure they were open and had indoor seating. Between the four of us, we had three options, sliced brisket, chopped brisket, pulled pork and sliced chicken. All were super tasty, with good smoke flavor, had the sweet sauce and spicy sauce, but really did not need sauce because of the great flavors. The sides were very good also, a thicker French fry, baked beans and sweet potato fries all were good. Having spent over a decade in Texas I do tend to be hard on BBQ places. Scooters was a welcome surprise in the somewhat restaurant sparse Conifer. I admit to my single biggest favorite was the fried mushrooms and the homemade pork rinds. In terms of the entrees "Fatty Brisket" was awesome... My wife loved the smoked turkey. There not going to get any points from the TV doctors of America at Cigna as this place is about meat and deep fryers. Thank you for staying true to the mission. Scooters is as good as it gets especially when taking location into account. If you want to brave the 285 corridor I doubt your going to find anything better BBQ wise. Real Texas BBQ (we're born and raised in Texas). 4 flavors/temperatures of sauces, help yourself to AMAZING complimentary pinto beans & cornbread that are more than DELICIOUS, and an assortment of sides and desserts that taste homemade! I'm a vegetarian and we go here twice a week and I love their sides! And their bread is so good! We always have to get a dessert or two to go-they're also amazing! The owners are friendly and engageable. They're open until they sell out, so get there early! My husband claims the meat is lean, tasty, and the best around and he's tried it all! Out of the many BBQ places I've been to in Colorado this place tops them all. The SLICED brisket had an actual smoke ring was moist and very tender. It was also served properly and by that I mean it wasn't drowning in sauce to hide shortcuts or lack of skill. Sauce is readily available in different flavors if you like. The German sausage was also very good and the sides were spot on. The Texas toothpicks appetizer and the bean and cornbread bar were also a hit. When I don't have time or the weather doesn't allow me to cook my own I'll be returning to Scooters. Great job y'all! read more

Ever since moving to Colorado in 2011 we have struggled to find good BBQ. There are lots of posers and more than a few bad chains, but the really good southern BBQ is hard to find in Denver and to the west. Fortunately there's Scooter's! Owned and smoked by a texas transplant, Scooter's has FANTASTIC smoked meats. That, plus a good variety of really great sides. I had the turkey breast and sliced Black Angus brisket combo with jalapeño hush puppies and some house made chips (can't remember what they called those). My wife had chopped brisket and beans and my daughter had the Friday special, fried catfish. Everything was just as good as it gets! Real texas southern BBQ without mosquitoes, hailstorms, tornadoes, and everything else that sucks about the south. It's a bit tough to find if you aren't a local. Fortunately for us, we are. ;) Head south from Conifer on 285. Scooter's is in a small strip on the west side of 285 maybe 1/4 mile south of Foxton Rd. It's where the old "Angry Llama" burger place used to be. Scooter's doesn't yet have a liquor license but that's apparently in the works. That's just the only thing they're lacking: cold beer to go with the food. Food quality, service, cleanliness, friendliness... everything is simply outstanding! Definitely a new favorite haunt. read more

Ok so in all honesty we were stuck in traffic and I was so over it! Looked over we were hungry and saw this place and decided to stop and boy are we happy we did! The food and staff were great! The meats are so tender and flavorful. They had a few varieties of BBQ sauce that you could close from. Nice drink variety as well. Not a bad way to wait for traffic to clear. Scooter's just keeps getting better! Picked up dinner on Tuesday and both hubby and I were craving their brisket again by Friday...so, why not? Tonight we tried the baked beans and sweet potato fries and both were outstanding. And you may ask, "why order baked beans when they have pintos at the bean bar?". One need just try them to know that they are the perfect sweet and savory compliment to a smoked meat. I'll still indulge on the pinto beans every chance I get but it's nice to know they have some real standouts on the menu when you're in the mood for something different. Two weeks ago, our party of four (Texans, I might add) all tried the fried catfish served on Friday night's. It was the real deal and I expect I'll be making Scooter's my regular Friday night meal. Was really looking forward to eating here - have ben past it many times. Got a rack of ribs, pulled pork, and chicken, just to try some samples. The ribs were so tough I could not eat them. They were just tough. So disappointing. The chicken was ok, not great. The beans were good. And the Mac & Cheese was not great. I grew up in Texas and BBQ is my thing. This is one of the best bbq places I've found in Colorado and I believe it is family owned which is great if you like to support local communities. Better get there early, they are so good they run out of their smoked meat early sometimes and are really good at keeping their customers up to date on this if you look on their social media (I personally check facebook). The meat and side dishes are all to die for and they do have alcohol available which is great after a nice bike ride, hike or snowshoe on the way back home. You won't be disappointed! read more
