This is a old school kind of place. Steaks, salmon and caloried laded fare. One needs this kind of food on occasion. When selecting an appetizer, the calamari is really good, second to the seared teriyaki beef. Love the hot focaccia bread. They had a wonderful early bird special I loved, but have discontinued it due to Covid. My favorite dishes after the early bird special, is the Broadway pea salad. I usually order a side of grilled salmon, which they do very well. Delicious tomato soup and one of then best hamburgers I have ever had. Good french onion soup. Great grilled salmon and seared scallop dinner. I usually do not get dessert, but they have a delicious chocolate cake I tried with ice cream. Good key lime pie. One star off for the management decision to limit servers. I have experienced a prolonged waiting time, as one server is responsible for many tables. I think the backbone of Scotts is the hard working cooks. They make every attempt to send out the best food possible. This has been a favorite place for my friends to meet up for dinner to celebrate birthdays and Christmas. However it was a disappointment last nigh. Although they had calamari on the menu when we tried ordering it they were out. And were there to have dinner at 5pm so how they be out already! Don't include it your menu if you're of an item. While it wasn't busy when we first came there, that soon changed and it became apparent they were understaffed. Hopefully things will improve so they are back as a great place to dine read more

I came here on a Wednesday with my family to celebrate my mom's birthday. The place was packed so I would definitely recommend making a reservation. The service was a little slow because of how busy they were, but our server was excellent at keeping bread coming out to our table. I will say that the food, while it was flavorful and nice, was missing a wow factor for me. I had the crab stuffed sole, my sister had the honey and ginger mahi-mahi, and my mom had the sirloin steak. We all enjoyed our meals, but agreed that the price was a bit much considering that we all expected a little more flavor and that "wow factor". Overall, it was a nice experience. I don't usually bother to write reviews, but decided to this time around. The only reason I'm writing this is not to complain, but with the hope that the folks in charge will read this and work on improving the shortcomings. My wife and I had a gift card, so it was kind of like a free meal and a nice "date" on a weekday afternoon. We were disappointed, however. I'll start with the good stuff: the garlic bread starter comes with every meal (I think), and it is fabulous! The cucumber/elderberry smash cocktail was also really good. After that great start, though, things went downhill. The crab/artichoke sandwich tasted like a tuna melt, only mushier and less flavorful than the ones I make at home; the fries that came with it, though, were pretty excellent. The fish tacos we ordered were accompanied by tortilla chips that had the flavor and texture of cardboard--not fresh. A scoop of seasoned rice sat on the plate and looked really good; it, however, was bland, with very little seasoning and undercooked (this rice was more than al dente). The tacos: fish was deep fried and seemed like good quality (probably cod); batter had, once again, not much flavor; very little sauce; slaw was incorporated into taco--it was skimpy and pretty spicy, but no tang, no sweetness, very little flavor. I'm not generally a picky diner; I clean up my plate, even when the food is so-so. With this meal, though, I didn't clean my plate (or my wife's plate, which I sometimes do as well). Went to Scott's for Easter brunch. I'm not sure the cook had ever seen a frittata before. What we got was more like an omelet with next to nothing on it and very small portions. Scott's is a must go to place if you are looking for a nice meal in a warm friendly environment. I loved it. From the moment I walked in and sat on their comfy couch to the time we left. The experience is everything and this place has got it down to a T. To start off they bring this focaccia breadth your table that is covered in buttery garlic goodness. And this stuff is amazing. We are a few baskets. And then they have an artichoke dip that's to die for. You need to try it. I got the French dip with au jus. You couldn't get a better one. It was so good. They have a house made au jus. I would get it every time I came. My wife had the steak salad and it was also to die for. I would come back just for those two items. But to top it off we had the chocolate indulgence cake. And that was so rich and sweet that it was sooooo good! Ala mode of course. I would recommend this place with 5 stars. read more

There are a few times in life when a meal just seems to hit all the right spots. Tonight was one of those times. We went to Scotts to celebrate our daughters new job. Starting it off sitting outside in a perfect Saturday evening. The quiet outdoor patio was perfect (except the pesky yellow jacket that kept visiting us!). A round of margaritas started us off. I had peach on the rocks. Bread was fresh, with rosemary and garlic seasoning. The House salad was refreshing and a good size. Thousand island dressing was just the kind I like, light in color with a simple flavor. ( not heavy on ketchup). I chose the Cherry steelhead with Swiss chard and potato cake. It was delicious. Perfectly pared flavors. The steelhead was mouthwatering and the chard perfectly seasoned. I was very impressed with our meal. Worth every penny! The other items my daughter and husband ordered which were prime rib and the surf and turf were equally well prepared We all had clean plates at the end of the meal. A friend and I grabbed dinner to go from Scott's Bar and Grill. When we got back to her place, we realized that the bread pudding we'd ordered for dessert wasn't in the bag. When she called about it, they didn't even give her a chance to ask for a refund for the dessert before offering a solution. When she said who she was, the person on the phone said she had just been looking for her number (they realized they forgot to include the bread pudding). She was immediately transferred to the manager, who offered to drive the bread pudding out to us (she only lives a few blocks away). So I had a very mixed experience at Scotts. They tend to be a bit pricey - and I did not remember being super impressed in the past - BUT the $20 coupon received in the mail encouraged me to try again. They had a grilled steelhead (I believe) - which, when it came, was still QUITE raw. The waitress initially said "well, this is the way people like it". And, having only eaten about 40 higher end restaurants in the area - mostly salmon - I knew this was a bunch of BS. Ultimately the manager looked at it - and we agreed that if I could get a new half portion - since I had unwittingly eaten slightly more than half (was not evident from the exterior - so took a minute to realize what was going on. Unfortunately the serving that came back was a quarter sized serving - not even a 1/4 of the original. Admittedly, it was cooked perfect - so know they can do it. Of course part of the issue is that some of the fish is thinner than the thicker part (who knew...:-) ) which was the original problem. The other issue is, quite frankly, for the $26 I paid, I was pretty disappointed with the quantity in general. What I can say is that the chicken quesadilla was pretty decent quality and value - and salad not bad (waitress offered a half salad) - modest value. BTW - the waitress did come back and essentially note that, yes, that was basically sushi after all.... (which would have been okay if that is what I had ordered...). There you have it - I would tend to stick with the standard bar foods and see how that works. read more

Yesterday Friday it was apparent the orders were behind and the manager was helping the cooks and salad station. We were seated, got our drinks our waitress said she would get us bread she was waiting for it to be done. Watched her gala around chatting it up with other servers. Watched the bread she was waiting for get dished up for other people had she been paying attention she could of gotten us bread quickly saw 3 or 4 other breads get cut up and some of the bread sitting for a period of time. When she walked past us again said she would check on bread right away. I watched her again go chit chat it up as bread sat there. Finally she walked past our table again I said can we get our bread this was 45 min after we were seated and she was a tad snooty, but really flat out lazy from what I could see. Thirty min later we got our dinner. The asparagus was so cooked it tasted like canned. The small spec of mashed potatoes we got were so salty we could of skipped the potatoes. I am giving this night a 3 for how hard the cooks and manager were working. We spent $130 on food had the worst server and yes sadly we still gave her a tip. My question is this, is it better to serve everyone who walks in knowing you are not staffed well enough that people will leave unhappy with food quality or do you reach a limit and say we can not seat anyone else because we are at capacity and keep your customers happy. It's probably time to call out the lazy server, she is not leaving a good impression for the other hard working staff you have. I have often visited Scott's to meet up with old co-workers. I should mention that we continue to go there at my dining companions' request, and not mine. After today's visit, however, I don't think they will mind if we choose a different dining location The food is decent, and they have a special lunch menu that includes an entree, side salad, and drink for $12 which isn't that bad. After eating and settling the bill, we lingered to chat for a bit when we heard a distinctive squeal from one our fellow restaurant patrons at the neighboring table. Hmmm, maybe they are squealing with delight from their meal? After recalling the food that I had just eaten, I highly doubted that and was deep in thought about what could cause the outburst when I saw the object of the excitement scurry across the floor and under our table. Oh yes, it was a rat. A big, fat, hairless tailed, rat. Under our table. As the squealing traveled from table to table, pandemonium erupted. Finally the chef saunters up with a big white table cloth and proceeds to try and catch the equally terrified rat. Yeah, uh, time to go. We gathered up our things, shook them out to make sure the rat didn't try and stow away in our purses or jackets, and made for the exit. Though we received an apology from the restaurant staff, we were not offered any sort of compensation. Granted, we had already paid, but I think a generous gift card might have been in order. Never been here before. Lackluster overpriced food & drinks, horrible self-impressed yet stunningly disappointing service. Hostess tells us, if we sit in the bar section, that appetizers and drinks are half-price. She was wrong, and nobody apologized. We ordered the chicken tacos, got two tiny tortillas each of 3 bites apiece. Good chicken, overall dry and flavorless. $6, which had to be the full-price for those amuse-bouche portions, right? Nope. Waiter, Joe, asked us 2 times if we'd like to order something else, never asked if the drinks were okay or if the food was okay. Hot drinks were meh, definitely not worth $4 for cocoa or cider that tasted as if they were from powdered mixes. Apparently, since we didn't keep ordering food fast enough, without asking us, Joe closes the tab and plops the check folio on the edge of the table, a traditional position for indicating that it's been paid and awaiting pickup. We ignored it, after a baffled moment. When we decided we couldn't leave fast enough (which was not much longer than the time it took to try and muddle through our pitiful drinks), it took almost 15 minutes to get the hell out. Had to go to the bar to discuss the insanely priced check. As soon as I'm at the bar with the bartender, Joe finally shows up. No apology for leaving us in the lurch that we would be so rude as to go over his head, get up from our table and try and find help. Unhelpful, unforgiving explanation from Joe the waiter: chicken tacos are normally $9, served with three tacos instead of two, plus rice. How is that half price or any kind of special? Sounds like less food for more money, is the discount on the plating charge? Joe treated me like an idiot. When I asked him to please tell the hostess not to mislead people about half-price specials, again, no apology, not a noise that he would do that. His lack of care or acknowledgement of my feelings and blatantly unmet expectations, even if he thought me to be mistaken, was insulting. Sometimes, when a server isn't good with words, they can make it up in actions. Not here. It would have been nice if he had cut the tacos down to $4.50 or actually at any point provided a stitch of empathy or redress. I didn't even bring up that the drinks were supposed to be half-price too, as I could well have guessed that the hostess meant only alcoholic drinks. She didn't say that. Look, even if you didn't MEAN to do a Bait and switch, if a brand new customer feels like they've experienced that, PAY ATTENTION. Total Fail. read more

Came here for the first time on a Saturday night with family friends. Ambience is great and it was plenty busy so restaurant noise level was great for us since we had two toddlers in our group. Food- we ordered mozzarella sticks and the crab and artichoke dip. I would recommend both as and the mozzarella sticks are the best I've ever had. Delicious crunchy outer shell with melts cheese. Dip had good chunks of crab so no complaints there. Entrees ordered were the pork chop, a special that was flat iron and prawns, and I had a braised beef and coconut shrimp dish that came with scalloped potatoes and some rice. Entree sizes were good but not so generous that you felt terrible finishing a plate. The pork chop dish is one of their most popular dishes per the server. For dessert we had the key lime pie which is amazing. Food all in all is four stars. Service- our reservation was at 6:15 and we arrived and were seated at our table within 5 minutes. It was set up to our specifications based on number of people, car seat sling, and high chair. Our order was taken promptly after we all decided on food- but we didn't get our actual entrees until 7:40. During this time, we didn't have anyone come and ask for wine refills or check on us in general. I think it was just a busy night, but it was a long dinner and service wasn't impressive. We were lucky that we had brought along new toys for the toddlers and they were entertained- but had one of them had a meltdown- it would have been disastrous. I give this two stars. I've been here a few times and it's always been a pleasant experience. I think truly this is might be a 3-star restaurant but I dunno, something just makes me bump it to a 4. They've got a really diverse menu - it's always hard to figure out what to eat because everything sounds good. I've had the halibut cheeks here (pretty good, not spectacular), I had the spicy fettuccine which was ok - all the salads here are awesome. The wine list is good, though I wish they included one or two more "expensive" wines by the glass for those who don't want to order a whole bottle. I have been coming to Scott's since the mid-90's and I just love it! I almost always have to order the spicy Cajun chicken fettucine. It is sooooooo yummy and has some actual heat to it. I'm also a fan of their happy hour. The prime rib sliders are fabulous, as are the wicked shrimp. Scott's is located in Edmonds/Shoreline and is a great local restaurant. I would describe the food as Pacific Northwest Comfort food. They have a great 3:30-5:30 happy hour that's a must to try. Order the Teriyaki beef tid bits on a sushi rice with pickled ginger. They are so flippin tender and good! Also the "Tipsy Clams" are quite tasty. I am one of those people who think any good restaurant should serve some type of bread as soon as the customer sits down. Scott's is unique as they served warm garlic butter brushed rosemary focaccia bread. The focaccia bread always puts me in a good mood as does the peachy flavored unsweetened iced tea that I always get. A definite standby dish of mine is their Bacon wrapped meatloaf. It's served with a mushroom cream sauce, mashed potatoes, and braised sweet and sour red cabbage with bacon pieces. It is so good. The roasted chicken breast dijon also is a solid dish. For seafood I recommend any salmon dish they have, it's always fresh and delicious. The crab cakes are really delicious as well. Not the largest, but well seasoned and panko crusted. The best part about them is the sweet and sour and a buerre blanc sauces that are served with it. For desserts, their creme brulee and key lime pie are both equally fabulous. The downside to Scott's is the ambiance. Its decor is just plain ugly, but ugly but in a homey type of way. Scott's also gets busy and sometimes there is sometimes a wait. The have a good Bacon Mac and cheese that really fills you up and tastes very good, and that's the thing that keeps me from giving it two stars rather then three. The service is average at best and the drinks are down right poor. They use sour mix for their Mojitos and I don't think they even put whiskey in the whiskey sour. Our fries came out stone cold, but they replaced they quickly so I can't fault them for that. The decor is OK but nothing really stands out. It can get real busy especially for lunch. read more

Scotts is among the best in the North Seattle/Snohomish County area. I have not ever had a bad meal there. This time was one of the best lunches...very pleasant atmosphere, not too crowded and not noisy. The lunch was for my birthday and they had laid out a birthday card for me with little ribbons...a small but thoughtful gesture. I had the panko crusted halibut, served with garlic mashed and roasted veggies. Everything was well prepared. The fish portion was larger than I expected. I also recommend the Maytag salad, which is very tasty. Their garlic bread is also great. For dessert, I went for the mocha and chocolate pie...delish. I will return to Scotts often...I am thankful to be going back there, actually...in 2008, I made a reservation at lunch for my boss and me. He had me make the reservation there so he could fire me...(nice guy, huh?) I was so upset that I made a decision i would not go back to Scotts until i was employed once again...it took just 6 months to land a new job and I try to get back to Scotts as often as possible. read more

I don't know why this restaurant does not have a 5 star over all rating. It is the greatest place to eat. Most would say it attracts an older crowd but I feel like once you've been here, you are constantly looking for excuses to go back! Everything on the menu is awesome. You can't go wrong. The servers are impeccable. Most of them know us by name even though we only eat there like once a month! Its reasonably priced, especially for the seafood. I have never had better halibut cheeks in my life!! They renovated the back patio into a super trendy and modern outdoor eating area with heat lamps and beautiful fireplaces... perfect for an evening summer date!! Recently, my boyfriend graduated, and we rented out the back patio with catering for his grad party! It was the best service, the food was great and everyone commented on what a great party spot it was!! If you LOVE desserts, they have one of the best Key lime pies I have ever had. The manager Janna is the sweetest lady ever, and if you have any problems she is eager to take care of you. Eating at Scotts makes you feel special. I love it. read more

We had the worst experience tonight. I can not even believe it! We have been coming here for years and have NEVER had a bad experience. Our waitress messed up our entire order and did NOT follow the CDC health guidelines. She used her hands to get my kids celery and carrots and lemons for our food/drinks. That is so disgusting. When I called her out on it, she said she changed her gloves. That is not ok! You are NOT suppose to pick up food with your hands period! We will NEVER go back again!
