We drove 8 hours for an anniversary trip and i wanted to really go all out for dinner. I chose this spot and it was one of the best places for a date that i have been to ever!!! The atmosphere is calm and rustic. There was open space and small tables that were secluded which made the experience more private. The people were super nice. Especially Scott who helped me make the reservation by email. The food was literally to die for. They have a homemade butter with bread that is perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. My partner had salmon and i got the special- filet (which didn't even require a knife, because it was cooked perfectly) lobster tail, garlic mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts that were shaved with onions and it was phenomenal. The cocktails were exquisite and the wine selection was on point. Everything was cooked perfectly!! The folks were super nice from the time we checked in for the reservation to the time we left. Upon getting the check the server brought us a dessert from Scott that said happy anniversary! It was the perfect end to a perfect night. Thank you for making this day extra special. I will certainly be back because the area itself was beautiful and i will need to try more of their delicious entrees!!! read more

This was our second visit to Scott's within 5 weeks. Our first visit was a great experience and earned 5 stars. Our second visit was not so great but rather was average earning 2.5 stars. Based on the combination of both visits I would rate Scott's a 3-3.5 stars. The service was very slow and considering it was a Wednesday evening we were surprised. We also noticed that 20 minutes after our arrival a group of about 10 arrived and that is when the service took a noticeable drop and we went forgotten. Our steaks were not cooked to order but were "acceptable " and considering it took 90 minutes to get our food we didn't want to send it back. We were disappointed and won't be back anytime soon. A fine restaurant needs to be consistent and always provide 5 star service and not lose control when a larger group enters and forget about a group of 4 or the other patrons. read more

Soft jazz being played, A couple of two person booths for a private dinner. Our server has only been there for two days, know the menu so training is important to them. We've been several times. Food is always delicious. Our last visit was a little off, however. We had to wait to be seated about 10 minutes even with empty tables. Then it took almost 15 minutes to get a server. That was not typical for Scott's in our previous visits. Food was still very good. Wow...not an easy review to write. The food was wonderful, but the service another story. You just do not expect at this caliber of restaurant for the service to be so lacking and then when you try to bring it to someone's attention the chef/owner literally comes out into the dining room and yells at you with all his excuses and tells you he doesn't care if you ever come back to his establishment. Shame on you Scott, this could have been handled in so many different ways. The worse customer service I have ever experienced. So think twice about spending $100+ for a meal at this restaurant. I was between 3 or 4 stars on this one for a few reasons. Our server was very kind, but our group did get the feeling that the tables with the older/more mature customers had more pristine and timely service than us 20 and 30 somethings. The bread did not come out under after appetizers and right before entrees which I found strange. Our cocktails were good but nothing to rave about. The calamari app was tasty but I recommend serving with lemon. As for the rest of our meal, we did enjoy the food we ordered with the exception of the side of grits never coming out and having to ask it to be removed from the bill and the side of green beans (julienned with tomatoes) going untouched as they were simply not good. I would like to give a huge shout out on the Lamb Lollipops....totally YUM. But overall, we may or may not return as our table did not feel like the quality was quite worth the $$ we paid. read more

Went to Scott's downtown for the first time on New Years Eve. They had special menu that evening We were very happy with everything we had. My husband and I had a crispy pork belly appetizer on fennel Cole slaw and our daughter had a shrimp mousseline. Both were delicious. We all got the lobster bisque, which was one of the best we've had. Our mains were prime rib with potatoes and green beans and duck ragu over pepparadelle. Excellent. Dessert was Italian lemon cake, very light and not too sweet and rum cake. It was very moist and not overly doused with rum. Again, we all loved our choices. Love the, building, the decor and the meals are always cooked to perfection. I especially enjoy eating in the lounge when I have a craving for risotto. The ambiance in the main dining room is lovely and quaint, especially when you are provided one of the alcoves or the front window with the deep chairs. All of my experiences with staff and management have been positive. On par with many Roswell and Alpharetta restaurants, and in many respects better because even pre-Covid the tables were not on top of one another. read more

This was our First time to Scott's. We were celebrating a birthday and wanted somewhere new to us, and not in Atlanta. We read the Yelp reviews and decided to try this upper scale place. We were not disappointed. We opened with fried oysters, ahi tuna, lamb lollipops and flatbread pizza. Followed by entrees of Beef Filet, rack of lamb, and seafood special sampler. Sides were Gouda grits, creamed spinach and Parmesan risotto. Desserts were creme brûlée and Lemon cake. Everything was cooked as requested. Portions were well presented and shareable. Next Time in, my personal preference will be to open with the fried oysters & ahi tuna, followed by the Filet. Finishing with a chocolate martini. The owner, Scott, stopped by our table, making a point to learn our names and welcome us to his establishment. Great food, killer drinks, but the prices are getting higher, and the portion sizes are going down. This is disturbing, since Scott's is the goto place in Gainesville for fine dining. They even have a slightly more cost effective lounge eatery. But just as a rising tide will float all boats ... rising prices happen across the board. Quality is exceptional, but my daughters bourbon chicken was one quarter inch thick slice of breast. Cmon. Really? How expensive is a whole chicken breast? How about even one tenderloin? Similar complaints with the lobster and shrimp pasta and the creamy spinach risotto with salmon. They are still one of the leaders in resurrecting the prohibition Era drink known as the Side Car. Delicious. But before things get bad, bring back the portions. I'd rather pay more than get less. read more

A group of 5 people went here last night for dinner. This restaurant was selected in Gainesville due to an appealing menu. Upon arrival we were immediately sat at a table and offered drinks. Shortly after two appetizers were placed on our table. Each person at our table assumed someone else had ordered them when in fact they were just delivered to the wrong table. The server then proceeded to ask to put the appetizers on our ticket. Shrimp Cocktail - very basic standard shrimp cocktail with 3 sauces. Good but nothing inventive / different. Pimento Cheese Spread - delicious with the flat bread that was served. The server told us about the specials and then proceeded to take our orders. She was not very descriptive about the different specials and basically assumed we knew what each one was. One of the people at our table had to ask her several times for an explanation of the fish dish. Everyone at the table ordered a salad before the entrée. My husband and I both ordered the spinach salad which was good but missing some of the ingredients listed on the menu. We also both ordered the stuffed pork loin. We were told the stuffing that night was lobster, crab, and asparagus. The entrée came with potatoes and veggie of choice. I selected French green beans and my husband ordered mushrooms. When the entrees were delivered my beans were cold and the potatoes reminded me of a school cafeteria - a perfectly rounded scoop. My husband's entrée has spinach instead of mushrooms. The pork lion was dry and salty. Overall the meal was not a memorable one and worth repeating. read more

Not a single proper ring. Sea bass is shameful. Please spare me the canned oranges on top. Swordfish was thawed improperly and super salty. Didn't eat more than a few bites of it. Cocktails are off. My wife and I recently dined here for the first time for our 5 year wedding anniversary. We were promptly seated in a unique, semi-private table for 2 with perfect mood-lighting. Our waitress immediately informed us there was a large party going on and things would take a little longer than usual. I appreciated her being upfront with us. We ordered the blue cheese chips for our appetizer and they were really good. Both of our entrees were very tasty as well. I ordered the rack of lamb, and it was delicious, and the portion was very generous. I sampled my wife's salmon which was also very good. She too really liked it. Our waitress was excellent and she even presented us with a personalized piece of cake on-the-house in celebration of our anniversary! Used Scott's as the caterer for our wedding reception at the Civic Center. We had Mandarin orange salad, herb grilled chicken breast with garlic cream sauce, grilled sirloin with demi glace, parmesan risotto and haricot verts. The food was delicious, and served at a good temperature. On a buffet, the chicken may dry and the beef be well done, but not so with Scott's! It was as though each serving had just been prepared. The wait staff were courteous and helpful, and kept the tables looking tidy. Before the big event, Kay and her staff provided an elegant tasting, were responsive to our special wants and needs, and easy to work with. Scott's also provided bar service, procuring a craft beer from Charlottesville, VA, at our request. This is the first time I have ever been there and was pleasantly surprised that this little gem is hiding right there in the heart of Gainesville. I walked in on a slow Tuesday night (who knows in Gainesville! ) and was warmly received by the host and server, as well as the owner Scott. Seated at a cozy table with relaxing music, I drank in the warm atmosphere and several selections from a well-appointed wine list. Scott's Ceasar salad was first up, and perfectly balanced with parmesan and green olives. Great start. I ordered the special, a shrimp and lobster Thermidor. Wow! Served with great presentation and served hot, I enjoyed an excellent meal of lobster and shrimp paired with grilled yellow zucchini and perfectly done wild rice (I am from MN, I know wild rice). One of the best meals we've had in a really long time! We stopped for dinner on our way into Gainesville to visit wineries in the area. The staff were really friendly and our waiter, Sean, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We started with the tuna and crab tower- it was amazing. Very light and fresh; perfect combination of flavors. We both ordered steaks and my husband said his ribeye ranked in the top 3 steaks he's ever had. My filet was so tender you could cut it with a fork. For dessert, we had the creme brulee and lemon mascarpone cake. Both were really good desserts but the creme brulee was a real standout. The chef stopped by our table to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. All in all, just a really enjoyable evening with fantastic food. Thank you Scott's for a wonderful evening! read more

I love how they have the semi-private tables off from the main dinning which promote a bit of privacy yet you can still see the main dinning (very creative)...The entrees are very flavorful, well thought out and nicely displayed. You can't go wrong with the bourbon chicken, salmon or red snapper ALL delicious. Please don't skip on the appetizers because they are equally as good. We thoroughly enjoyed the blue crab and spinach dips (2) different appetizers. The bread is delightful too! Our waiter was super knowledgeable about every dish and he anticipated our every need. A beautiful ambiance, a very attentive staff and an owner/chef who truly cares about your experience. Not only did Scott come out to greet us and help us with recommendations about the menu he also visited us after our meal to ensure we were pleased. The food was outstanding, the smoked Gouda grits were to die for. We each had different main courses all were cooked to perfection. One of the best prime filets I have ever eaten. Kudos to Scott! This place had it's ups and downs. Over all I left disappointed and felt we had spent wayyyy to much money for what we ate. The place IS pretty , and I loved the private seating rooms. The white wine by the glass is not very good, for some reason, it's all sweet. The oyster app is VERY good The lamb lollipops which we asked for med rare were welllll over medium. I'd say medium well to well done. We almost sent them back, they were chewy with NO pink. and the mashed potatoes needed seasoning. Entrees....my mom's Chilean sea bass was good the risotto that came with both of ours was AMAZING, my favorite part of the meal. Now my steak.....Seriously? Don't get that here. I asked for it med well plus. It came out RAW (seriously, raw) in the middle, and medium well on the sides. So I show the waitress, she takes ONLY my steak back to the kitchen, leaving my sides to get cold (as a former waitress you should take that back as well to keep warm under the heat lamp) and they throw the same steak on the grill, so that murders it . It came back almost inedible. Whatever, I was done with this place by then and just let it go. I just ate my semi cold risotto. The dessert was alright, it was a lemon cake. Nothing special but not bad. The bill was around 200$. I don't want to pay that much when the chefs cannot cook. Especially a steak. I wish I would have ordered the shrimp and grits, I think that would have been a better choice. If you come here, don't get a steak. But I'd suggest going to Luna's instead. read more

Come on, Gainesville! Am I really the yelper to write a review for Scott's?! I was writing a review for new local business and decided to check out the ratings on other favorites. When I saw there wasn't a review for Scott's I had to write one. A local gem, Scott's has been in business for a little over 2 years. The success of the restaraunt in the economy of the past few years speaks to the quality. In the relatively short period the restaurant has been open, Scott's has shown incredible support for the community, given the square new vitality and most importantly, provided Gainesville with some incredible food! The space is very nice and well appointed, but casual. The staff is attentive and friendly. Scott, the owner, is a genuinely nice guy who wants to make sure you have great food and a good experience. Tony, the bartender, makes one of the best martinis around. The wine list is not overwhelming, but is well selected. The food is always well prepared, and often their specials are absolutely divine. We have the opportunity to travel and have had dinner @ many "great" restaurants both @ home & abroad. We have the opportunity to eat out in Atlanta frequently and enjoy it. However, the ability to get a great meal and great service at a wonderful LOCAL restaurant that is a vibrant and supportive part of the local community will keep us coming back for many years! read more

We had poor service on one of the visits and on our last visit, there was a game playing loudly on the tv (this is not a sports bar). Took 3 hours to get our meal from start to finish. Way understaffed! Had to ask to even order our food. After 2 hrs 45 minutes, we asked to cancel our order if it wasn't even close to being ready. The server informed us that our meal was being "comped" because they had gotten slammed and didn't have enough staff on hand. Our meal came out 6 minutes later and it was subpar, to say the least. Then the owner/chef came out and asked how the meal was and nobody said anything except okay. The owner was arrogant and I believe wanted/expected us to thank him for comping the subpar food that took three hours to receive. So, when we didn't, he became even more arrogant.
