This is what I got at Scotty's on Tennessee St this morning. Had to easte my time and take them back. I showed them to the girl and she said, you know sometimes they get that way but don't actually taste burnt. I said the bacon burnt too. She said oh you didn't ask for them crispy. I said no just my eggs well. I said i know how pancakes taste and if they are burnt they taste burnt and you shouldn't make excuses for the cook, just say sorry and i will be on my way. Best breakfast of our trip was at scottys! We were seated and served promptly and our food came out quickly and was very good. Did not like this place. Was not what I expected. They don't accept any cards, cash only, which they failed to tell me on the phone before I came in to pick up my order. Also not the best takeout place, probably a significant factor in my experience. Also the food was not very good at all. Not a good place for those why are trying to eat healthy. This is a great restaurant and they have some really good values for breakfast. If you look on the front page of their menu you will notice that many of their specials include coffee in the price. The staff is great and the food is always good too. You have a lot of choices for coffees there, and I suggest getting the Kona. read more

I had been to Scotty's years ago, but a couple of weeks ago a friend mentioned Scotty's and I thought to myself "I ought to check it out again." So my sister comes up from SF, I'm trying to think of a breakfast place and "Scotty's" popped up in my brain. So we head over, it's a 5 -10 minute wait for a table, so we take the last two counter seats. Ordered a waffle, the traditional buttermilk (not Belgian) and an egg over easy. My sister orders a breakfast with bacon, egg, hash browns, English muffin and a coffee. We so enjoyed the "show" watching the cooks and waitresses do their things. From making & buttering the toast, to frying up bacon, to slipping the eggs onto the plate, to seeing the ingredients lined up waiting to be cooked. The bacon, they put it on a towel after cooking to press out the grease. My over easy egg was perfectly done as was the waffle. My sister's hash browns were not greasy at all. Plus seeing the true affection between the regulars and the waitresses was a bonus. I could see that the cooks and waitresses all worked together as a team. On the way out we bought two doughnuts, a custard filled bar and an old fashioned. I only tried the custard bar, it was good; not greasy, not too sweet, generously filled. This may become my regular breakfast spot. I live in Benicia, and most of the places there are sooooooo pretentious. read more

This place is disgusting. I ordered a Denver omelet it was dry as a desert I asked for salsa they brought me some green looking water... I know it was their take on salsa verde but who the hell wants green salsa on an omelet??? the beacon I got as a side was GROSS it was clearly cooked earlier and microwaved, or perhaps it was purchased pre cooked and just thrown in the microwave I'm not sure but the beacon was dry also and you really have to try hard to make beacon dry. My girlfriend got a Cesar salad that was made with iceberg lettuce and was soggy and a bunch of bred crumbs were thrown on top. To top off the horrible experience we had about 3 different people serving us, the one lady that kept calling me honey and hun was the most classic. I AM NOT YOUR HUN! The icing on the cake was the fact that they don't take cards but directed me to use their ATM that charges 3$, I only wanted to use my card because my bill was 32.89 and all I had in cash was 32$ and some change. First of all there were no clear signs anywhere that I could see that said cash only and secondly the server should have said something so we could have just left to pull money from an ATM that didn't charge a fee, Why would I pay a 3$ ATM fee to give someone a 4 or 5$ tip for their service???? Shitty service at that! Even if the shittiest service is given I still tip but this was bullshit so they got exact change and we left. 10 minutes later is when my stomach started churning. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP. Both myself and my girlfriend just had an unsettled feeling in our stomachs after eating this garbage. Seriously, Denny's is better than this place. Went on a Sunday, service slow, food came to table with orders mixed up on different plates. When we brought this to the attention of the person that brought us the food, she simply brought an additional plate so we could move food to create original orders together ourselves rather than having kitchen fix it. Then there was the taste of the food itself. First of all, people raved about their french toast, that was a total let down. C'mon everyone can make french toast with sliced bread. You would think because they make donuts there that they would at least have a decent tasting batter for bread that they eventually make into french toast, but nope all you get is simple sliced bread. The rest of the food seemed mediocre, nothing glorified, most people could make the same meal at home if they were not lazy and actually end up with better tasting food. We were on our way home to South Dakota from San Fransisco.. We left outta of San Fran and did not eat.. So we figured we would just grab a bite to eat somewhere... Long story short we took a wrong turn and ended up in a neighborhood.. We parked on the street as a searched my phone for a place to eat.. Luckily a lady came out of her house to smoke and she asked if we were ok.. My wife then asked her about a place to eat... She referred us here... What a great place... Service was good, maybe one of the best pancakes I ever had.... Biscuits and gravy were awesome my daughter had a Caesar salad, wife had a breakfast burrito and my oldest had eggs and toast... All said it was great tasting . Another thing i noticed, a disabled man was in a wheel chair was having breakfast and a lady who works there but later gathered she was the owner cut up his waffle for him. I don't know many places that would do that... At first I thought he was a local person but I don't think so.. Came with the girls after we finished a week of exams. Coming from SF where brunch is the most popular meal of the day, I was not very satisfied with the overall quality and ambiance of the restaurant. I ordered the omelette which came with bell peppers, sausages, and cheese with a side of hash browns and toast. The egg was very fluffy and moist but the overall flavors of the filling for the omelette was lacking. They specified that there would be a spicy kick to the omelette but I did not taste any as I was eating the dish. The hash browns were also very soft and not crispy at all. I like my hash browns extra crispy with that nice crunch when you first take a bite of it. Unfortunately, I did not get the same experience with this dish. However, given Vallejo has a limited selection of brunch spots, this place does the job of providing classic breakfast options for those who are looking for a hearty meal in the morning. read more
