But food trucks are all over the bay area, so it would be nice for Vallejo to start getting some of that action. Lo and behold, food truck collective SactoMoFo brings its food truck event to Vallejo. Very cool. I actually went on the first day they did it (it's held every 3rd Wednesday) and they had run out of food. This was understandable as it was nearly the end of the run time and I got there very late (I didn't know about it until, literally, the last 45 mins of the event.) Also, lines were initally quite long. Again, understandable since this was the first time they've had something like in Vallejo. There would be hype for it regardless. Defeated for the day, I went home. I decided to give it another shot once it returned. Upon it's return, I was welcomed with more reasonably sized lines. Also, layout of the trucks seemed to be much cleaner, if that makes sense. The trucks are lined up on the gigantic lawn area of the waterfront. Though the truck variety is not as great as a Off The Grid event, it's definitely much more than Vallejo is used to. So whether you want a burger, some sort of loaded fries, or Asian fusion, it's more than likely that you will find something you like. I've eaten at a couple of the trucks here and have had nothing but fast and friendly service. Food has come out quickly as well. Another plus is they show free movies on a big screen. That's always entertaining for kids and adults alike. To be clear, this isn't as varied as an Off The Grid. But again, it's definitely better than what Vallejo is used to in terms of new food options. Hoping the popularity of this event will build more steam for better businesses and the like in Vallejo. Consider me a fan of this event.

I lived in a glorified food park a small fishing village north of San Jose, it ruined my well exposed pallet for basic food here in Vallejo. The line was considerably long around 7:30 p.m. so it took a while for us to order and receive our food. I like that the tacos here are single tortilla -- as opposed to double tortillas, so the filling to tortilla ratio feels a lot more balanced. For both tacos, the meat is incredibly tender and flavorful. Although a bunch of sauces and garnishes are provided, the taco was good enough on its own. Of the sauces we received, my favorites to add was a squeeze of lime and the red sauce, which had a nice smokey Chipotle flavor and wasn't overly spicy. My friend ordered a quesadilla and it was absolutely massive! I definitely would only recommending ordering a quesadilla if you're sharing it, or if you're coming with a massive appetite. Overall, Tacos El Sazón Oaxaqueño was a nice gem we randomly stumbled upon while routing to In-N-Out for burgers. When it's slower, the portions are generous and everything seems to be made with more care. During the rush, though, I've noticed the portions get smaller and the food feels a little rushed, which is disappointing considering the prices. One of my favorite things is the salsa bar. They have a great variety of salsas and toppings, including cucumbers, pickled cabbage, and other fresh additions, and you can help yourself. They also had four different aguas frescas available when I visited: Horchata, Strawberry Horchata, Piña, and Jamaica, which was a nice selection. I do think the customer service could be improved. One thing I really like is that they actually list the length of their burritos on the menu. That's a nice touch because sometimes you order a "super burrito" somewhere else and end up with something small. Here, you know exactly what you're getting. Out of all the taco trucks in Vallejo, this is easily one of my top three burrito trucks. I try not to burn myself out eating at the same place too often, so I like switching between favorites, and this is definitely one I keep coming back to. I almost always get the steak burrito. One thing I really love is the pico de gallo they use. They use red onions, which gives it a nice touch, and every time I get it, I can really taste the cilantro in the pico de gallo throughout the burrito. The steak and chicken street tacos were also really good but the burrito is always my favorite! Parking is never an issue because they share a parking lot with an auto body shop during off-hours, so there's usually plenty of space. They also have cones to help guide cars entering and exiting the lot. When your food is ready, they call your order number over the microphone/intercom system, then ask if you want red or green sauce and chips. Overall, I've always had a great experience here. If you're in Vallejo and looking for a good taco truck, I definitely recommend giving this place a try.
