    Steak frites.
    Amy B.

The food here is delicious. It is a little on the salty side- so if you have salt sensitive hypertension you may want to mention that to your server. We had the steak frites, chicken, and chocolate cake. It was all yummy. My favorite was the steak. Ambiance is fancy without being pretentious.

I was so excited to try Scoundrel and decided to walk up right at 5 to see if I could snag a seat at the bar--and I'm so glad I did. The whole experience exceeded my expectations. I started with the broiled oysters (omg) and the osetra duck fat caviar bites, which I will genuinely be dreaming about for a long time. Every bite felt thoughtful and indulgent in the best way. They also have a fantastic wine selection. I had a Chenin Blanc that was completely out of this world and paired beautifully with everything. The bartenders were outstanding--knowledgeable, warm, and clearly passionate about what they're doing. It all came together to make this one of those meals you know you'll remember. If you can grab a seat at the bar, do it. Absolutely worth it.

I went with my boyfriend for his post birthday celebration when we got time off of work and although we did make a reservation - we waited quite a bit for our table. Food was spectacular - we also waited not that long for our entrees but because we waited they brought out a complimentary pasta dish. Ambiance was great- although dress code was a bit confusing with some people in sport coats and others in jeans. My only complaint is wait time even with a reservation and the drinks were tiny for the price. Overall - would definitely go back. I don't mind a hefty bill if our bellies were full and service was spectacular!

For a Michelin star I was a little underwhelmed. We've been to a handful of Michelin star restaurants and the service has been over the top. Here, the service was not what I would expect. They forgot my drink for half of dinner, it took forever to get a glass of wine. The server would come at the most inopportune times, but then go missing for long periods. I absolutely love the beef tar tar table side presentation but the restaurant is small, and the servers would bump into each other with the carts The food was good, but not over the top. It was fine. I'd give it 3.5 stars.... But yelp doesn't allow for 1/2 stars.

Spectacular meal. The service was amazing and thoughtful. The FROMAGE ET POIVRE was one of the best appetizers we've ever had. Perfectly cooked pasta, with a creamy, peppery sauce that we couldn't get enough of. The ribeye was some of the best steak we've ever had. You have to squeeze the roasted garlic over the steak. It's the perfect enhancement. The bernaise sauce was the star of the sauces. The fries and broccoli were just ok. Really phenomenal meal.

I have enjoyed scoundrel many many times and love siting at the bar ! The bar team is so engaging and offers excellent recommendations ! The happy hour is amazing but get there early- folks line up at 4pm!

First off the vibe is cool, very chill place to bring friends, family, or have a date. Sat at the bar and had no problem getting in around 5p (all reservations are booked out till like February at the time of writing this) Food was excellent. I recommend the chicken! Ribs were wonderful in taste/texture but were overshadowed by the chicken and gnocchi combo. Make sure you get the bread too! Is it worth the Michelin star? I'm not so sure, but I'm not the one judging and will be back. It was quite good food and service

    The very understated menu.

We had seen the buzz about the Michelin star and were able to get an earlier than expected seating so we took it! EVERY SINGLE BITE WAS BEYOND DELICIOUS. Subtle flavors that linger on the palate; excellent wine list as well as a good variety of beers. Because of the popularity and interest in this venue I felt we were somewhat pressured to conclude our visit earlier than we might have liked. There were several parties waiting for seating when we left so it's somewhat understandable. But overall, it was a delightful evening with dear friends, excellent food, excellent service and charming ambience. And let me add that I am absolutely on board with the current trend of using vintage china for serving dishes that many venues are using now. Such a unique glimpse of the past--mismatched and fun.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Greeenville! We try to have reservations every month for no reason at all and to celebrate special occasions. The food is always on point. It's essentially the best steak you've ever had and the best chicken you've ever had and the best ribs you've ever had and the best Caesar salad you've ever had! In the list honestly could go on and on. The dark ambience for dinner is something I love to. It's just enough light and just enough darkness to have an intimate setting. Also, the artwork of scoundrel throughout the restaurant is my favorite. Done by one of my favorite artist Carlisle Mercado!

    Roasted chicken and gnocchi

Just tried for the first time, hopefully I can convince you to get the roasted chicken (I know, I know- sounds boring. But trust me here) it was AMAZING. Best chicken dish we've ever had- had a full on Ratatouille moment! I'm not even a gnocchi person & I'm sitting here craving it all over again. 10/10 Honestly- would skip the tomahawk next time! It wasn't bad but we have definitely had better, & based on the chicken dish we had, I would say the entree's are where they really shine! Crème brûlée was also very yummy. Look forward to trying again sometime.

Ahh I really wanted to love this place. It's so cute inside but Overall it was not as good as I hoped. I of course reserved a reservation a month in advance as soon as I heard about the star. Wow I mean what an accomplishment. As soon as we arrived we were seated. The tables are very small for the meal we purchased so If you're lucky to get the booth with two people as some did take it. Started off with the Colin's baguette because duh bread. Wow this was my favorite part of the visit. I ended up ordering 2. As first time visitors I was very disappointed with my server. She didn't ask if it was our first time or even give us a rundown of the menu or what was recomended ,I think what was more disappointing was the couple that sat to the right of me who ordered a bottle of wine was given the full run down of the menu. We shared the waitress but I was seated first and she treated them much better than my table. And then to the left of me I witnessed not one but 2 couples come and go with a waiter and he gave both couples a full run down. I just wish my service would have been better however the girl (Kate) who refilled the water was so attentive and kind to us. I wish she would have been our waitress. Back to the food after seeing and talking to a few who were disappointed with their items we decided to play it safe and order the Tomahawk Ribeye with melted broccoli rabe, green salad, duck fat fries and the sauces. First we ordered our ribeye medium well and our waitress said I'll cook it medium because you can cook up not down. Well our steak was for sure not medium well. It did taste good however it wasn't special. The garlic was good. As for the salad which came out first. It was so wet which was fine but very vinegary. The melted broccoli rabe was so salty we could barely eat it which was disappointing and as for the duck fat fries. Nothing special. Skinny string fries with garnish. As for the sauces. I liked the light white sauce and then the gravy and then the basil? Last . During my wait for my steak which they say takes around an hour to prepare so order early. I asked for more bread. Well after 20 minutes of waiting we asked the water server about our bread and I think she informed our waitress because she came back and said I'm sorry I heard you say you were good with bread, not that you wanted more. Do you still want it? And I said yes. Bread came out 5 minutes later. I feel like after spending $260 which didn't include alcohol because we didn't drink during this meal. I really was hoping for a better experience.

Excellent!! The ambiance is moody with an artistic flare. Our server was on top of things and our meal was perfectly staggered throughout the night. The duck was the best dish at the table (as agreed upon by all four people at our table). The steaks were all perfectly cooked and delicious!

The service with Will was excellent. The item you should try is the Pate. The roasted chicken with gnocchi was perfectly seasoned. The chocolate cake was moist and delicious

Everything is made from scratch; from the fresh burger patties and soft, homemade buns to the delicious pralines they hand out as a sweet palate cleanser at the end of your meal. You can absolutely taste the difference. The restaurant is small with limited seating (first come, first served), with seating along the windows and down the side, and a couple of outdoor tables. You order at the counter, grab your number, and then find a seat. Even though it's a casual, fast-service restaurant, the hospitality was anything but ordinary. We were greeted the moment we walked in by the sweetest older gentleman whose genuine Southern hospitality made us feel so welcome. He even stopped by to chat with us during our meal, making the whole experience feel warm and personal. The food was outstanding! My burger was cooked perfectly....juicy, flavorful, and served on one of the best hamburger buns I've ever had. It was incredibly soft but somehow never got soggy or fell apart, even with all the cheese and sauce. They offer about 10 different flavor options for burgers. They even offer grilled chicken sandwiches and Open face burgers. I ordered the Sawyer Burger ($13.95), topped with chili garlic glazed pork belly, Asian slaw, and crispy onion straws. It was absolutely delicious and well worth the price considering the quality and generous portion. The fries deserve their own review! So many burger places treat fries as an afterthought, but not here. The portions are huge and perfectly seasoned. I chose the Buffalo Blue Cheese fries, and they were packed with flavor. I wish I'd had room to try the Parmesan fries, which sounded like a customer favorite. Even the tiny bathroom was charming, covered in funny and quirky signs that made me smile. If I lived in Greenville, I'd definitely become a regular. Amazing food, generous portions, homemade quality, friendly service, and true Southern hospitality. I can't recommend this place enough!

Hubs had the meatballs (which the server said they only had two left...a friend nabbed the others) and other friends had the moules (mussels) frites and the braised short rib IIRC. The *.frites were the biggest hits. My filet was perfect, Sharon was raving about her mussels being the best she's had in ages. I had a bite of the meatballs, they were ok but people agreed there are better things on their menu. I love that the frites come with a choice of 3 out of about 10 different custom mayos (aiolis for the fancy-schmancy). I tried the curry, sriracha, and a fruity one I can't remember exactly what it was. I liked the fruity one the best and to my surprise, the curry the least (I usually love curry, but the balance was off). The sriracha mayo was too subtle for me, I slather sriracha mayo on my burgers regularly. I have no class. The frites were fresh cut and I enjoyed them but there were far more than I could eat on my plate, and sadly frites don't keep. They have my favorite super sweet Lindemann's framboise lambic on tap; I've only ever had it in bottles before, so that was a treat. My husband thinks I'm crazy to drink it because it is SO SWEET but I love it. So does Sharon, and clearly we're not alone or they wouldn't waste a tap on it :). It's beer for people who hate beer. (I resemble that remark. Maybe hate is a strong word. But in my 30s I realized I'd rather drink a soda than a beer, except for this one.) Desserts sounded good but we were too stuffed to order any. Next time I come, I may try the mussels, or I might just order that steak again.

It is a unique vibe and after your meal, when emerging back onto the brightly lit street, it's akin to stepping out of a secret place and back into the light of day. The beer selection is impressive. This food is Belgian inspired. Hence the name being derived from a mix of Trappist Monks, trap doors, and a hidden underground enclave. Many of the beers have higher alcohol content, listed on the menu, be advised. The specialty is Moules Frites, mussels prepared in various broths and fries double fried in duck fat served with a flight of your choice of flavored mayonnaise such as wasabi, curry, truffle, sriracha, etc. Very good. Reservations are highly recommended. It was a busy Thursday at 6:30pm and the place was literally packed, even the bar. The two of us were seated in a large, dark, alcove booth fitting for six or perhaps even eight. We had a reservation, so the hostess said, "we may as well fill it" since it was that crowded. Being such, it was five minutes before we were noticed and placed our drink orders, another five before our water arrived and we ordered and about 30 minutes later to get our food. In between we were left to ourselves. The service was not negligent, but it was minimal and not really friendly either. It was a busy night, so we will have grace. But the mussels were delicious. We both had the Provincale, a rich, savory, Mediterranean sauce of tomatoes, garlic and white wine. Bourdain says "never order the mussels", in his Kitchen Confidential book, but here you are safe because they are very popular and the main feature. I've probably said this before and it is worth repeating, they need to up their crusty bread game. The broth is so good and the accompanying bread just doesn't lend itself to bringing the dish to another level, but it could were it better bread. This is a solid and must do restaurant experience when visiting Greenville. It arguably should be the "one" restaurant you must visit in town because of its unique ambiance and unique food & beverage.
