Such a fun additional to downtown Greenville! Went here for a girl's night and the ambiance was by far the best part. I played it safe and went with the burger, but it did not disappoint. We went to Scoundrel to celebrate my husband's Professor Emeritus award. The atmosphere was intriguing. However, tables were too close to have a private conversation also very dark which we don't mind. Right off the bat they tried to pushed their tomahawk beef thing, the most expensive thing on the menu. I don't/can't eat beef and once the waiter found that out, service wasn't very good. I had the Scottish salmon and it was excellent and my husband had the oysters and said they were good. The reason for the 3 and not 4 is the same as someone else mentioned. Our server vanished when it came time to refill water glasses, see if food was prepared to our liking, leave and pick up check. Ridiculous! Food was great, service sucked!! Won't go back! read more

Food was excellent! Three of us enjoyed sharing delicious appetizers of Caesar's salad, crab, Duck Liver mousse was outstanding! Such a surprise as I have never had it. A beautiful sea bass with a crisp outside, and various desserts(croissant was my favorite) It was a wonderfully relaxed evening sharing food and wine. It was my birthday celebration. Service was outstanding with waiter giving perfect wine suggestions for various foods. The atmosphere was inviting and a beautiful feeling as we entered the restaurant at 5pm. We got beef tartare, mousse patay, T hawk steak, Fish, bread/butter with truffles (amazing), escargot, some noodle appetizer, and three deserts (crème brulee!!!!)... there was one more dish I can't remember. We had a early booking because we went after a matinee show at the Peace Center. Ambiance was really nice. Lighting was appropriate with hanging curtains to dampen noise levels. The Tomahawk Ribeye Works was delicious. Service was attentive but not overbearing. We enjoyed our evening. read more

Went for a business dinner with a couple of colleagues from out of town. Our first time to Scoundrel. We had the beef tartar and it was prepared table side by Tyler our server. I had the spiced chicken chassuer & it was fantastic. My colleges had the ribeye with an poive they raised about it. Finished with cronut. So excellent. We all agreed: Tyler was one of the best servers we've ever had. He was extremely familiar with the menu, described the items in such a detailed, reverent manner his respect for the restaurant & the diners was obvious. Austin did a great job of explaining and suggesting the items on the menu. He made sure that our Alphagirl had a meal that would not cause any unwanted reactions. I had the tuna appetizer which was phenomenal although I would have really liked a Jerusalem Artichoke for each bite. Hubby had the hamburger that tasted like a steak with a hamburger texture. What a treat! Welcomed with a smile and quickly transported to a French bistro in our minds. Trey, our server, was an absolute delight. He was knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions. We started with apéritifs. The Dorian Gray was dreamy. We then opened dinner with a baguette (crispy outside, warm and fluffy inside) served with sweet corn butter and a perfect Caesar salad. Loved the fine texture and spiciness of the breadcrumbs. For entrees we shared the branzino for 2 (Julia Childs would have approved), the duck, and the summer squash. I dreamed about the fish and squash last night. Not gonna lie. Such harmony in the flavors and textures. Finished with chef's grandmother's chocolate cake and felt like I knew her with the first bite. We also had the salted cantaloupe sorbet and honest to goodness, it felt like a summer garden in my mouth. It ended the night perfectly with my last sips of Bordeaux Blanc. The detail in the serving pieces were a highlight for me; inviting me in like i was in someone's home. Oh, and the storied art! I wanna know more about Scoundrel. I was so excited when I saw this restaurant come into town. It is delicious! The fries are to die for! We had good service. The restaurant is very nice. I did take away stars due to the bathroom decor. It is all naked women. It's extremely graphic and inappropriate. I would not feel comfortable for my boyfriend/husband to go into a bathroom that's just plastered with photos of naked women. It's unnecessary. I cannot imagine if I had a child and knew they saw that. Please change the bathroom decor and you'll be a perfect restaurant for all to visit. Please take this seriously owners, I'm not the only one that feels this way. read more

We went to Scoundrel on Friday. We did like the atmosphere; the service was great. The dishware and the silverware were super nice and certainly special to see in a restaurant. The beef tartar was fabulous. We shared the Branzino fish for two and had the squash as the side dish. It was delicious; well seasoned, maybe a little bit too creamy/buttery. The dessert options were only verbally presented to us (we were full), but none of them sounded European/French or intriguing to us. The neighbor table had one that looked like a brownie. There is maybe room for improvement on the dessert side of things. The espresso we ordered was watered down a bit. Other than that, it was a great experience. Escargot was perfectly cooked and seasoned, deviled blue crab was super refreshing, and the sauce on the dirty rotten scoundrel paired perfectly with the burger. 2nd time dining at Scoundrel- this time solo at the bar.. what a welcoming place with Lauren the bartender at the helm. Food and service still stellar. I ordered Colin's baguette, Caesar salad, the Duck, and the summer squash. It's the little details that are impressive. Corn+butter = wow! The grilled celery roots hidden in the Caesar salad- a delightful surprise underneath the veil of cheese. Luxurious. Duck was perfection and who knew summer squash can be that light and delightful. Here are the highlights: perfectly dressed Caesar salad with a hint of anchovy; warm baguette with compound butter; Sichuan sashimi tuna with crispy wontons; escargot with croustini and tons of garlic butter; roast duck with crispy skin on the breast, and pressed, confited dark meat; the very BEST pork dish of my life--pork Milanese--crunchy crust and succulent interior, counterbalanced perfectly with a squeeze of lemon and a peppery arugula salad; a fried crousant thingy for dessert, reminiscent of a pear-stuffed beignet; and last but not least, the VERY BEST chocolate layer cake of my life--rich without being cloying, and capturing the essence of chocolate perfection. Wow, wow WOW! Service was amazing--genuinely kind, hospitable, and invested in creating a memorable experience. Amazing atmosphere, service, and food! Clams Thornton, chicken, and rose croissant are beyond incredible!

We had an absolutely incredible experience here. First off, the ambiance is perfect... dark wood and brick with an equal amount chic and fancy without being stuffy. Each dish is served in a unique patterned porcelain dish, and the dishes are plated beautifully. The beef tartare is even served tableside! We had just about everything on the menu, and everything was awesome! We started with the muffuletta salad and Caesar salad, and both cou have been the main! They were delicious and creative and unlike any salads I've had before! The caesar had a cool smoky taste to it, and the muffuletta really tasted like a muffuletta! We also had oysters, escargot, clams, beef tartare, and the blue deviled crab with cream. The oysters were fresh and the minoeitte and horseradish were the perfect accompaniments. The escargot was buttery and delicious! The clams were just the right amount of spicy and smoky, and the blue deviled crab and cream was unbelievable! At the table, people also ordered the salmon, the duck, the chicken, the steak frites, and I had the puff pastry with winter roots. It was truly amazing... melt in your mouth delicious with this beautiful sweet sauce! Everybody loved their meal and cleaned their plate even though we'd already eaten so much! We also got the side salad, fries, broccolini, and the honey butternut squash! Every side was so delicious! It was incredible to see a place that takes just as much pride in its sides and salads as it does in its main course! We finished off with the chocolate cake, and I couldn't stop eating it! It was unbelievable... perfect amount of sweet and rich but not too much that I had to stop eating it! Service was wonderful as well!
