Big flavors, a few misses, but worth a visit. Tried Scratch Kitchen on a whim and overall had a good experience. Beer was great, but the martini fell flat--no heat or depth. The hummus and whipped feta appetizer stole the show, easily the best thing we tried (though more bread would've been nice). Burgers were excellent: The Spicy South had fresh flavors and a nice kick, while Somewhere Near Nashville was huge and well-seasoned. Fries were meh, and service had a couple hiccups (late salad, no extra bread). All in all, solid food with some room for improvement, including more lighting for outdoor seating. I ordered the caprese panini and shared the garlic boo-boo I'm in the shower and try to eat it parm fries.b The panini was good but not worth $15. Should have been $8 max. The fries were good, I like how they are a thick cut and was perfectly fried, also comes with a horseradish aoili. Different, blended well with the fries but not super strong with the heat. The fries are good but not worth $11, should have been $5-$6 max. This place isn't bad but definitely overpriced. We had a great experience visiting Scratch Kitchen, the menu had plenty of intriguing options and I had a hard time deciding what to try first. I ordered the Bacon Basil Chicken Salad with a side of Sweet Potato Fries and my boyfriend got The Spicy South Burger with a side of Coleslaw. They also have an expensive beer and cocktail menu as well as wine. Our server was Alec, he was friendly and hospitable. They have options for both outdoor and indoor seating, we sat outside but there were a lot of flies around so I would recommend sitting inside unless you have a furry friend accompanying you. I've ordered from here twice this week - got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich the first time, and ordered a burger the second time. The chicken breast on my Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was really high quality, really big, fresh, and I really liked the way it was fried. My only complaint (and it's an important one) is the Nashville hot sauce was pretty weak and mild. I got excited when I saw it on the menu, but ultimately I won't be ordering it again because it just didn't pack the punch I'm looking for in a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. The burger was also big and high quality, my only complaint is it was a little overdone compared to what I typically would order. They don't give you any doneness options to choose from (at least on DoorDash). Overall it's a solid 4 stars. Quality food and large portions. read more

This was my first time at Scratch Kitchen. I was definitely pleased with our waitress (I forgot to get her name). Scratch is very casual with seating outdoor seating. Close to lake Norman. Now onto the food I got the pulled pork sandwich I could only eat half it was so big. My friend got the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. For an appetizer we got the potato chips with bacon bites and cheese. For me do wish they would layer as most of the cheese and bacon was on top of the chips. They also have a fully stocked bar and serve specialty drinks. Definitely a spot I would return to. So the next time you're in Mooresville NC go check them out. read more

The following has never happened until today. I opened up my Yelp because I sent a few Donkey Poker Crawl invitations for Vegas this summer and this restaurant popped right up. This is a chill vibe with indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar. I chose the latter to eat because nobody at the bar. I ordered the Garden Salad with Chicken (not a thing but you can make it a thing) and a beer followed by an Old Fashioned on the side (not at the same time). The Old Fashioned was also right on the money. I said 'also,' but I had yet to mention the meal being right on the money. That was the case and I'm quite pleased about it. I needed a good meal and a good drink or two as I'm currently in 'negotiations' with two places and I gave up on a third after two years (a big one!). So, just chillin'. This place has a good vibe, the food is great, and the staff is friendly and efficient. You can also tell that they take their food and service seriously. And let's add cleanliness. This place is PHENOMENAL! I haven't had food that tastes as good as this in quite a while. Kudos to the chef! Everything was extremely flavorful and tasty. It's always a hesitation for me to go to a place that serves "bar food" but it wasn't what I expected at all. The use of herbs and other unique flavors really brought each appetizer and entree to life. There was not one plate that was brought to our table that I didn't enjoy. I really loved the maple cheddar bacon chips and the Ghostface flatbread, those are both insanely good. I also really enjoyed my Cubano sandwich with the sweet potato fries that came with the is super delicious brown sugar dipping sauce. I can't rave about the food enough! First time I ate here was with visiting family members and kids. Burgers were great altho cooked to done (not really given a choice on how you want your burgers cooked). Huge portions. I love their sweet potato fries - crispy and plenty of it. It's very loud inside and tables are close by. It's a little quieter to eat outside despite the interstate noise but those tables are few and seem to fill up quickly. They have a small selection of draft beer that my husband liked. Service is efficient. I've ordered takeout here - burgers again - and my orders were correct and ready on time. Great service. I stumbled upon scratch kitchen when visiting the area. It is in an upscale apartment complex on the bottom level. The indoor and outdoor seating was great. The staff was excellent in their recommendations. The flight of beer was perfect and each pour was delicious! The cider was one of the best I've honestly ever had. The idea of a scratch kitchen is awesome and again I went with staff recommendations on a bite to eat. The brussels sprouts were smothered in Parmesan cheese and pinenuts. This was 5 stars all the way! We were sad we had waited so long to try this place! We were greeted by a super friendly host who also was our server. He truly cared about our experience and wanted to know what our favorites were from our meal. My daughter and I both had the Bartender's Choice mocktails and they were so good! I told them I liked fruity and spicy and I received a delicious, spicy strawberry pineapple drink! My daughter requested something berryish - they made her a sparkling berry lemonade! We love places that offer fun mocktails and these were top notch! My husband and daughter both had the Granny & Brie panini and said it was delicious (loved the mango pepper jelly!) Man the reviews for this place were great. Sadly our food and service were not. At first things started well. Our drinks were good. Props to the bartender. But our food took way too long for two sandwiches to come out. And BOTH plates were supposed to come with fries. When the food hit the table our server said the fries would be right behind it. They never came. Either of them. After 10 minutes I finally asked for my fries and they only brought out one serving of them. And they were the sweet potato fries. I was supposed to have regular fries. I ended up not eating them at all they were WAY over salted. On top of that my "scratch burger" was overcooked to a well done doneness and not at all enjoyable to eat. The bacon jam was either flavorless or nowhere to be found on the sandwich. Also our server changed mid meal with no warning. And was extremely infrequent. I never even got asked if I wanted a refill on my Arnold Palmer in the hour I was there. There was no shortage of staff. Our waitress was chatting most the time we were there. I watched her. Overall our bill was $93 for two meals, 2 cocktails, a beer, and cake pops. Which don't get the cake pops... they were disappointing as well. We still tipped our... second server I guess? Still don't know where our first one went. Won't be back. read more
