KinderCare in Scripps Ranch has been an incredible experience for our family. From the moment I emailed Celida asking if they had any availability, we were treated with the utmost kindness and professionalism. The friendly staff genuinely care about each child's well-being and development. The facility is clean, safe, and equipped with engaging learning materials that keep the kids excited about coming to daycare every day. Our child has shown remarkable progress in social skills, language, and early academic concepts, all thanks to the dedicated teachers who provide individualized attention and encouragement. I really want to highlight the teachers and staff here because they are what make this location so special. My child spent time in 3 different rooms while at KinderCare and each room had fantastic teachers. So much so, that with each transition my daughter was truly excited to move up. Shout out to the Mobile Infants, Todds, and Twos teams! We are forever grateful for your patience and guidance with our energetic and strong willed kid. Communication with parents is excellent, with regular updates and photos of our child's daily activities, which always brings a smile to our faces. The staff's commitment to creating a nurturing and stimulating environment is evident in everything they do, and it's clear they take pride in helping each child thrive. And as a last note, one thing we really valued about this daycare is the cultural diversity of the staff and students. At one point I think my child was in a classroom with several students that spoke a home language other than English. The Director and Staff here are great, understanding, and communicate very well. My son was in the preschool and pre-k classrooms. Even during COVID, I felt that my son was safe and being taken care of. The App that they offer is an added bonus and makes me feel included in his daily learning activities. We absolutely love Scripps Ranch Kindercare. The director Celida is amazing. You can tell she loves her job and really cares about what she does, the well-being of the kids and all the teachers. Our son started in the infant room during the height of covid, but they have taken all the necessary precautions and we have always felt comfortable with our son being there. We love how they send updates and pictures via the kindercare app throughout the day. They are so creative with all the activities they do too! We appreciate Celida and all the staff!! read more

In one year we experienced 4 different Directors. The classrooms are filthy, not clean and kids and teachers are sick all the time. The toys are broken, overused and not pleasing to kids. The pictures posted here do not represent 80% of the teacher/child interactions. We got a sick call one day and tried to call back 5 times with no answer. The communication from the current director is very poor/lacking and not professional. This company is good, but location is Poorly run. They need a makeover and major intervention! Pretty sure this place is getting shut down. I heard they were being investigated. My son went here about a year ago and got bit in the face by another kid pretty hard. It seemed as if the teacher was not paying attention to the kids because the bite mark looked as if the kid had bit down for a long time. My son was tramautized from this incident and every time after that when I dropped him off he would immediately cry from just seeing the place from the parking lot. I finally decided to change my work hours and take him out. One of the best decisions I've made thus far. They did give me a full refund since I took him out early which I appreciated which is why I give them 2 stars instead of 1. read more

This review is based on a tour of the infant and toddler room only. This Kindercare took over what used to be Children's World waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day. I showed up early for my tour so had to wait a few minutes before I met with the Director. Ms. Brittni was very nice. She seems young (but I don't hold that against her because my sister works in the child education field and was a Director herself once out of college.) The facility is nice and new. I believe they remodeled the whole building. The infant room was large, bright, and very open. Everything was clean and organized. The one thing I did notice that I've seen in a lot of infant rooms is the floor is tiled with not much carpeted space for the infants to spread out so that might be one thing I'd hold against them - more carpeted soft space for the infants to crawl on, please! One of the infants was quietly sleeping, one was being fed, one was hanging out and another one (one that could crawl) was playing with some toys. There was music playing which was nice. I met with Ms. Vanessa who was friendly and answered some of my basic questions. After a quick look around the infant room, I asked to see the toddler room which was another nice space. The kids were all in a corner with a teacher doing some kind of activity and another teacher was picking up toys. Tuition for infants is the same as the Penasquitos KC and its a newer, "prettier" center. The staff was very nice here but I ended up choosing the PQ Kindercare for our infant son. Turns out I know one of the infant teachers at the PQ Kindercare (found out at our tour!) and having an infant, its hard enough to leave him with anyone, so it really put my mind at ease to place him there (on top of meeting the rest of the staff there which are so nice and caring.) I'm a fan of this Kindercare :). read more

This is our second daycare center as the first one didn't work out. The location is very convenient for us. I enjoy the relationships I've built with the teachers and directors. It is great knowing what your child is learning each day! The rooms are nice and spacious -- filled with various activities for the kids. I like that the kids are taught to clean up the toys before snack/meals. I feel safe with my kids being there and again, I enjoy that I am able to have a conversation with any given teacher in the room about my kids. read more

My Daughter is 18 months old and had been attending KinderCare for 6 months now. My husband and I are very happy with Celida and her staff. My daughter had a home nanny prior to us attending to KinderCare. They made the transition very smooth. All of the staff are very loving and caring. My daughter would feel comfortable going early in the morning and I had peace of mind knowing that she was in good hands. They offer a lot of activities daily that included circle time for reading, outdoor play, music and art that our daughter really enjoyed. They also provide daily updates which was great to know how and what she did for the day. read more

My 3-month old son started in the infant class just last week and I am already thrilled with the teachers and the curriculum. I am lucky enough to be able to visit him on my lunch break and he is always smiling, making goofy faces, and babbling away! The staff is very supportive and attentive, even though they are juggling multiple babies. My son came in with no schedule and is already finding a routine in less than a week! My family has always been a Kindercare family. My son started off at San Carlos Kindercare (which was the most amazing center) and then moved to Scripps ranch a year and a few months ago. The teachers at Scripps ranch are spectacular. The preschool teachers specifically are one of a kind, genuine teachers. I give the center a lot of credit for my sons development. Unfortunately with the good, there comes the bad. 1. There have been four directors in a year. My issue with this is that there was never communication with the parents. The first conversation and introduction I had with the newest center director was weeks into her role and our first conversation was about them bumping up our weekly cost 2. The price changed on us two times in the year we were at the center, with very little heads up. Its a pricey center already but every three months, you also pay a seasonal registration fee which again is never communicated. One time I paid $250, another I paid $187.20 and didn't even know about it until I saw it on my account and asked the director why there was a "field trip" fee on my account for a preschooler I never approved to leave the school. She told me that its just the coding they put in the system. 3. My son has a late birthday that runs mid September. Apparently the cut off is September 1 to transition from preschool to prek in the new year. I understood their policies. Until my son started getting bored of learning the same things. I asked three different teachers about moving him to prek and got three different answers. They didn't seem to be on the same wavelength or have my sons best interest in mind. 4. The school was getting ready to have people come in so they could gain accreditation in October. The director stopped when I picked my son up and asked me if it were at all possible for me to not bring him to school the next day because they were having the inspection and didn't want him running around the classroom.... I pay over $1000 for him to attend and work full time- no, I can't just take off work. I called corporate because of the situation and they were completely unprofessional with handling the situation and no one could understand why I was upset. This was our last straw. Also, when we put in our notice that we were leaving the center, the director did not once talk to me about us leaving. When I picked my son up the day after emailing her our 30 day notice, she ignored me in the hallway and didn't even say goodbye to him on his last day. I don't ever want him feeling that way again. After the complete lack of communication, professionalism and overall disrespect we have decided to leave the center. Our son was starting to hate going to school and his passion for education was gone. Again, this had nothing to do with the teaching staff but everything to do with management. Since our son transitioned to a new school, the change is unreal. He is so happy. They are communicating with us and the staff is wonderful. On his first day as soon as we walked out of his school he goes "I love it here mom." I would never tell another parent what decision to make for their child but what I can say is to follow your gut feeling. Your child's happiness and well-being should not only be your first priority but also the priority of the school.. I personally wouldn't recommend this Kindercare location to anyone and would hope that the teachers there can get hired by a better company because they sincerely deserve it. read more

Our 4 year old daughter attended Scripps Ranch Kindercare under their preschool program and absolutely loved it. The staff there is amazing. Celida and Rosella are wonderful to work with. Even during teacher transitions, they made the process seamless. My daughter loved her teachers and all the friends she made. The summer activities and calendar they laid out were wonderful and the Kindercare app was very fun to see photos of what she did throughout the day, and other information such as napping and food. We appreciated the wide variety of food they provided for lunch and snack. They also made pick up and drop off smooth, following all precautious necessary during COVID times. This location isn't convenient for me so I will not be bringing my kiddo and know nothing about this place. I'm reviewing only because I think one of the reviewers' review is very unfair and unreasonable. She may not realize that all day cares (at least those i have visited/considered) have strict late pick up rule. Employees there get paid peanuts and shouldn't be expected to volunteer their time. Also, they may have their own kids to pick up and their time should be respected. To avoid that reviewer's dilemma, we put our little one in a place by our workplace (Downtown too), instead of near home. This is our first kindercare and we absolutely love it. The teachers there really do love the kids. Whenever I pick up my daughter and son, my daughter is always smiling and excited to show me all the activities she did for the day and learned. To me this is not just a daycare, my daughter is in the preschool classroom and not only is she learning her ABC's and beginning to learn how to write her name, but she is also learning how to play with other kids, share, and I absolutely love that this center does family style meals. Ms. Amanda and Ms Rosella are the nicest teachers and my daughter is always excited to go to school and see them. My son is in the infant room and words cannot express how much I appreciate Ms. Mai and Ms. Deborah. They are so caring for him and always keep me updated on how he is doing and what he's doing throughout the day. Any struggles i have had with his eating and as well tricks to try for his sleeping schedule, I can always ask them for advice. We have come a long way in the 7 months we've been going here and it feels great knowing that both of my children are in good hands with these amazing teachers. read more

This was one of the worst places you can put your child. Being a former employee and parent of my kids that went here, I was very disappointed with the lack of professionalism and respect. The employees in the infant room are very caddy and rude. The babies are always on the floor crying and never held. The ratios are very very high which it makes it hard to teach one on one with the children. The food may be healthy but very disgusting and not appetizing. And the same thing is served everyday. It's all processed food and not real fruits or veges. I don't recommend working here or placing your child here at all. This company is very greedy. They only care about the money and not the actual well being of the children. Very sad. read more

SAFE ENVIRONMENT, NICE STAFF, POOR ASSESSMENT SKILLS, MY DAUGHTER DID NOT LIKE IT. I have only had two months (3 days a week) to form my opinion, because after this time, my 2 year old daughter was still miserable at the school, so I decided to move her to another one. She did not cry when I dropped her, she did not make a scene, she simply said she was sad all the time she was there. I watched her once at the playground (because the school does not send you photos) and I could see exactly how said she was, sitting in the corner while everybody played. It was heartbreaking. When I picked her up, I would ask her in the most positive ways possible what she liked the most, or what did she play wit, etc, and she would always say: I did not play. I did nothing. I was said. The best part was when you arrived. I was happy when you arrived. She never complained of anything or anyone from, that must be stated. Besides not wanting to be away from me, it just seemed that nothing really appealed to her enough. Then, on my daughter's last day, I WAS GIVEN AN ASSESSMENT, OUT OF THE BLUE, which evaluated milestones, but disregarded completely the fact that my daughter only spoke a foreign language before starting school. SHE WAS EVALUATED THROUGH ENGLISH, WHICH SHE DOES NOT KNOW, as if her cognitive skills were being evaluated. Most questions assessing different skills depended on English. She was rated below average with no mention to the fact that the test was not applicable to her, since she could not understand the questions properly. I found that highly INSENSITIVE AND DISAPPOINTING. read more

My oldest daughter has been at Scripps Ranch Kindercare since she was 4 months. She's now 4 years old and will graduate this spring. She's had the most nurturing teachers, and I can't thank them enough for helping her to grow up the way she has. My youngest (now 1) is also here, and I'm so glad because once my oldest goes off to kindergarten, I know I'd miss the staff, so I'm glad I still get to be a part of the KinderCare world! The current director Celida goes above and beyond to make every student and parent/guardian comfortable, and any concerns or questions are always heard and addressed. And the teachers...I just can't say enough...they are simply amazing. They have endless energy, implement excellent curriculum, and truly care about each and every student. We've been with SR Kindercare for almost two years and it is our second childcare center. I have a love-hate relationship with this place. First, things I love/like: 1. TEACHERS ARE AMAZING. They genuinely care about children and I feel very safe leaving my little ones there in the morning. 2. Sunny rooms with many pay stations. A reviewer before me mentioned broken toys; I did not inspect all the toys but the ones I saw seemed ok to me. In my experience, children do not care much how "well-preserved" a toy is; playing with something not so new in appearance may stimulate imagination, which is always a good thing, IMHO 3. The Director always tried to accommodate our special requests. It does not mean that all of them were accommodated but the director is very understanding. Now, things that are seriously wrong with this place 1. Dishonest business practices. The center enforces policies that are not written and that are actually the opposite of what they say their policies are. The case in point is biting policy. They say (I did contact a Kindercare representative via kindercare.com) that in case of biting a teacher would follow a kid to figure out the triggers and will work with parents to address the issue. A biting policy printout that I requested and received from SR Kindercare is in the same spirit. In reality, however, the policy is: if a child bites but does not break skin, we will write a report. If a child bites and breaks skin, we will send this child home. Well, it is very difficult to get a sick leave or any other justification for an employer why a parent should leave work to go pick up a child. My child was bit four times before biting for the first time; so I assume SR Kindercare is where he learned such behavior. So far, we've been on both biting and being bitten sides but nobody "worked with us" or identified any triggers. From my conversations with the previous director, this policy is reviewed in directors' regular training courses; a regional manager says what should be done (a biting child should be sent home) but this is not mentioned in the contract, and directly contradicts their "official" policies. This issue seems to be common for at least several Kindercare centers across the country according to complaints I could find on the web. My fundamental problems with this policy are (1) Kindercare does something different from what they promise to do in such circumstances; (2) I do not know what this policy teaches a child. If biting is unacceptable, it should be unacceptable in all forms. 2. Lack of proper communication from the center management At several occasions we discovered the center's practices only after our bill was too high and we started digging. I feel that anything that affects the amount I pay should be explicitly and beforehand discussed/explained. Never got it here. The management either does not care, does not know better or are stretched too thin. If the latter is the case, the center needs to stop accepting children or should hire more people. 3. Repeated billing errors It seems either a very unprofessional person does their finances or the billing/subsidy person(s) do not get timely information from the center management, which is likely given how (un)organized the management is. On several occasions we were billed more than we should and it takes quite some time and effort to get somebody at SR Kindercare to take care of this, which, honestly, does not always happen. If you'd like to pay to somebody who takes your money issues pretty lightly and will try to get out of you more than you owe them, SR Kindercare is the place to go. Minor things that I do not like 1. Very narrow hallway where children should be signed in and out. Sometimes kitchen delivery boxes are taking half of this narrow space. It is crowded if two adults are there at the same time. If at least one of the parents has a car seat, it is impossible to pass by. Add here children and toddlers and sometimes parents with two car seats. A recent renovation project that, I suppose, meant to make the space more inviting made things worse by moving the folder station to the narrow part of the hall and adding cute but useless things that take additional space. 2. Only two outside pay zones for at least 4 groups of kids shorten the outside play time to 30 minutes two times a day. I feel kids need more of outside play. In rainy days children stay in their room because there is no open inside space to give them an opportunity of active play. 3. Teacher/director turn-over. In the last (almost) two years we saw quite a few teachers leaving the center and it is our third center director. This might be the result of low pay but for the tuition we pay, it is even more disturbing Overall, super teachers, very nice but unprofessional (or not caring, or stretched too thin) management, ok facility, and very high tuition. read more

We left this Kindercare in August of 2015 for the same reason that others gave it a low rating. Turnover was rampant and the teachers we love were leaving. The director at the time of us leaving was terrible but I have heard that she has since left. We are now at a different Kinder-care so please know that just because they have the same name, not all of them are alike. The new one we are at we love! Hopefully this location can get someone great running it and keep the amazing team they once had. read more

I absolutely love this center! My son has been going there for almost two years now and he has learned so much! Every day he is excited to go to school to see his teachers and all of his friends. I love to pick him up everyday and see a smile on his face, and to hear all about his day. I read the previous review about several directors, which is true, but it has not affected my child's classroom in anyway. Looking for day cares in San Diego is crazy. It should be a law how much they charge. That has been my sad song for a while. After getting a tour at this location I stop fussing about price and started focusing on quality. The director at this location is different she has it all together for this center. First off it took my wife and I three times to try and get someone to call us back. When we finally got someone to set up a walk thru of their facility I should have known it wasn't going to be good. When we walked up to the front door it was propped open with a box so anyone could walk in or out. When questioned as to why it wasn't locked I was told oh it's because we have it propped for parents while I take you on your tour......really????? To start our not so friendly tour we were taken to a filthy classroom with dirty toys and two ladies that seemed to not really care what the children were doing or getting into. One child had a cot that was up against a door fall into his head. This is not even the worse part of our tour. We then went outside for playtime and it seemed as if the "two Bris" didn't give a damn about if the kids fell and they didn't interact with them unless they did something bad and they yelled at one of the children and told him "hey I don't like that". I could go on and on about this place but the final draw for my wife and I was the sick children they had there. Needless to say our little tour gave us a departing gift for my son now very sick and running a fever. I wouldn't give them the one star I've given them and I understand it's hard to take care of a bunch of kids at one time but if you don't like your job then work someplace else! Oh and one more thing when we asked about playtimes and meals we were told oh I'll just give you a packet explaining it all.
