My fiancée and I both fancy ourselves bourbon snobs and I love that Epic always has a great variety of bourbons and whiskey in general among other spirits as well. If you want something good yet affordable they have plenty, but if you're looking for top-shelf, they have plenty of options for that as well. Nate is always very friendly, professional and attentive when we come in. His quality of customer service alone would be enough to keep us coming back if nothing else, but rest assured, this place checks all the boxes. That said, Nate's knowledge and passion for his business just puts him over the top of other stores. Some of the nicer bottles we've found here was the Weller Full Proof, Mid Winternight Dram, Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend and as of this afternoon a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 15-year that we will be opening and sharing at our wedding. Everything about this place is awesome! The selection, the service, the cleanliness and professional layout, this is truly a place I don't see myself straying from. They have so many other bottles I want to get my hands on and in time I hope to try some of the other options they offer and am eyeballing the Weller Antique 107. I seriously can't say enough good things about this place. I sent my friend's wife here a few months back because she wanted to get a bottle for his birthday and Nate did not steer her wrong either and I believe sent her home with a bottle of Oban 18. On my way to San Marcos, I stopped in to pick up a few cigars. While browsing the Scotch section, specifically looking at a Dalmore 15, an employee approached me and greeted me. I politely responded and made it clear more than once that I did not need assistance. I prefer to shop independently, and if I need help, I will ask. Despite this, the employee continued trying to engage, ignoring my clear and respectful responses. At that point, I was already feeling pressured and just wanted to check out and leave. While waiting in line, the same employee approached me again and redirected me to another register, saying he could help me there. I agreed, expecting a straightforward checkout. Instead, the interaction became uncomfortable and frankly bizarre. He asked if I needed a cigar bag. I responded clearly: "Yes." Rather than proceeding normally, he paused, stared at me, and acted as if he did not understand my response. There was an awkward silence where he simply looked at me in a confused and almost performative way. At that moment, I had to say: "I think my English wasn't that bad saying 'yes' after you asked if I need a bag." His response was dismissive: "Oh no, I asked if you need a cigar bag."! This interaction felt unnecessary, patronizing, and inappropriate. What should have been a simple transaction turned into an uncomfortable experience that made me question whether I was being subtly mocked or tested over something as basic as saying "yes." This happened around 3:33 PM on a Saturday. what should have been a quick stop after a long week turned into a frustrating and unwelcome experience. For clarity, the employee's name was John. I expect better from a company like Total Wine. Customers should not feel pressured while browsing, nor should they be made uncomfortable during a basic checkout interaction. This kind of behavior reflects poorly on the store and needs to be addressed seriously. I hope corporate reviews this and takes appropriate action to ensure customers are treated with respect and professionalism.

Every few months I would stop by, and buy a mixed case. I learned to ask, How much of this is available? If I liked it, I would call and reserve a case. Today, I stopped by to pick up a mixed case for the holidays. I had a photo on my phone of some bottles I had bought during a previous visit, hoping to buy more. I asked someone, Are any of these still available? His response, "Yes, No, Yes, and Yes." And before I could ask where they were, he said " Look out behind you. We're loading new inventory. Can you please get out of the way? " So I got out of the way. There were 2 or 3 people delivering wine, and a few more stocking and organizing. But there were no other customers in the store. Nobody bothered to ask me, "Can I help you?" I've never felt so invisible in my entire life. I wandered through the aisles, found a few bottles, paid for them, and left. I know the holidays are a busy time, but this was a Wed morning, about 10AM. And this is the last time I will shop there.
