These are amazing donuts!! Get there early cuz they do go fast! I've had to choose from donuts I don't usually like - like plain cake donuts- and absolutely love them! The dough is made fresh from scratch, so they say and it shows! Never dry, just the right amount of chewy in the raised sort. Maple bars frosting is the best in town! And drive thru, come on!! Lucky for me I live right up the road from here! Went here one afternoon and was instantly in donut heaven. The donuts are soft and don't taste odd like the ones you get from chain grocery stores. I should come here more often, but I don't. Nice variety and the staff are really nice. Oh, and they give a wonderful military discount and I think kids get a free donut, so it makes me think the establishment is family oriented, which is wonderful in my book. read more

I was disappointed that my father in law accidentally only got two boxes of Apple Fritters, which is my least favorite donut. Until I tried the Apple fritter. It was incredible!! I thought about giving a lower rating.. But the owners are gear and the kids loved seeing them. My only complaint is... Unless you are there at 8am you will not get any donuts. Stopped by there yesterday a little after 10...they had nothing really. Just wanted a chocolate glazed and a chocolate bar. These are the staples at any donut store. But not here. Hit this place up for the first time on a Wednesday morning for our daughter's "Birthday Donuts" at 7:30am. Service was slow but friendly. I agree with other reviews that say you need to get here early if you want the full variety of donuts to choose from. We showed up at 10:30 on Saturday and they were already out of many varieties. In my mind, that is to be expected from a local bakery that isn't open all day long. If they made enough to ensure every type of donut was available all day long, they would end up with a massive pile of donuts at the end of the day that didn't sell. They just can't do that if they want to stay in business. Bottom line, the donuts are great. The woman working the counter went out of her way to add some custard to a chocolate donut. It was spectacular, and I really appreciated the extra effort on her part. Get here early if you want a specific type of donut. I plan on trying to call the day before I need donuts, the next time my family is in town, to see if they can set aside a couple dozen of our favorites for pickup the next morning. I will definitely be back to try other donuts. Update 6/14/16 - I stopped in at 9:40 this morning and they only had a total of six plain donuts. While I don't expect them to have the full variety until they close at 12:30, I would expect that they don't completely run out of donuts almost three hours before closing for the day. My guess is they are losing more money due to not having donuts to sell to customers, than they would if they overproduced and had to throw some out (or sell them at a discount as being a day old). I know we are supposed to support local establishments over national chains, but how can you if you can't get what you want? I will preface this by noting that our circumstances are a little different. My oldest daughter has autism, so it's hard for her to deal with change. Everything is relative. They are a wholesaler with a retail counter. They bake in the afternoon/evening, still, I believe, for overnight/early-morning deliveries to retailers, so what is in their case in the morning and early afternoon is not early-morning fresh, like most retail shops. Goods are usually grease-soaked ("heavy"), and on the stale side. They are essentially small-market/convenience-store-type donuts. Mike's on Sprague just west of Bowdish is FAR superior (except for business hours), and Donut Parade at Hamilton and Illinois easily beats, as well. I have been to SD a couple dozen times in the past fifteen years--at their current location and their previous site in Otis Orchards. The service is usually pushy. She tries to persuade purchase of whatever she has too many of. It is common to feel sick from grease after two or three. If you can time it for when whatever you are having is fresh, they can be fairly good. read more

I have always had a good experience here, but lately they keep closing earlier and earlier. I went in and the sign said they closed at 1230 but it was 1155. All the chairs were up on the tables. There were quite a few people just chatting around and they still had quite a few donuts in the case. I asked if they were closed and the young guy behind the counter said "yeah kind of".
