My husband and I have been raving patients of Dr. Lewis at SCV Quality Care for four years. That was until this week. My husband passed out and required paramedics to respond last Saturday, January 1st. The paramedics advised his heart rate was extremely low and to contact his primary care as soon as possible. Because of the holiday we had to wait until Monday. We went into the office and after explaining the incident the extremely unhelpful and unfriendly receptionist told us "we don't make appointments" and the wait is 2-3 hours, "you want to wait?". I asked her to advise the Dr of our situation and her response was "he's with a patient and we don't do that". We were told if we left a phone number and could respond within 5 minutes - seriously? - we could wait the 2-3 hours somewhere else. We agreed and went home as we were waiting for a conference call from our cardiologist. After 2 1/2 hours we got the phone call and drove back. I timed it and we arrived 7 minutes later. My husband was told he had not responded in 5 minutes so it would again be another two hour wait. We left a message for Dr. Lewis requesting he call us back. It has been 26 hours and we are still waiting for that call. Like I said, great doctor and associates but apparently too busy in the practice to address a serious situation or to call and explain the behavior of the staff. Sadly we will be looking for a new primary care physician. read more

I've been to a couple Urgent Cares in the area. This was far and away the best experience. I saw Dr. Alex Turnipseed. He knew exactly what to treat and how to treat it. He was very personable, friendly and thorough in explaining things. The front office is classy with large leather seats and the people at the counter and those running things in the back were super friendly. I had to pick up my son from school so time was an issue and they handled things so well I had time to spare. The waiting was about 20 minutes total which is fantastic considering I was a new patient with no appointment (I've had waits at other places of well over an hour). Finally the other big convenience is the small pharmacy right outside the door. I had my rx filled in minutes. Definitely the only Urgent Care I'll be visiting, even though there are a couple closer by me. read more

I held their mailer advertisement card for 2 years thinking I would use them some day. I called a few minutes ago to be put on hold for 5 minutes. I called to find out if they can do TB testing and Meningitis Vaccines but, all I got accomplished was a tossing out the card of places to go file. 1 STAR FOR ANSWERING THE PHONE + 1 STAR FOR THE LAME MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND. read more

This afternoon I had a great experience with Dr. Lewis who also happens to be the owner. I was in pain with a gout attack and inflammation in my left foot. He's super nice, knowledgable, has a great personality, listens, takes time to explain things, answers questions and makes a lot of sense. His stuff was nice as well. I think, I'll switch to him to be my family's primary doctor if possible. Really didn't expect to find a great doctor in urgent care. How refreshing. read more

When I saw she was with SCV I was hoping I had found my healthcare providers. I am so relieved and happy to say I have. It was a stressful time not knowing what to do or where to go. Now we know. I've been going to Dr. Lewis for about 15 years. He's the best doctor I've ever had--he listens and is open to discussing your symptoms and courses of treatment. He's also personable, knowledgeable about a variety of things, and basically nice. Kathy has also been very helpful over the years. The front desk staff has always typically been friendly and patient, as is Jeanette in billing. My only mildly unpleasant experience has been with the nurse, Arlene. Her people skills can be abrupt and unhelpful, but I've only interacted with her a couple of times (once via phone), so maybe it's just her manner. The other medical staff have always been friendly and responsive. I don't know what I'll do if Dr. Lewis ever retires! Highly recommend. read more

.I recently took my wife to see Dr. Lewis at SCV Quality Care. It was her first and last experience with Dr. Lewis and his team. My wife was refered ther by her medical insurance carrier because he was in her network. The experience with Dr. Lewis left a lot to be desired, as well as his manner in which he treats his patients. His personal skills are poor and he doesn't know how to listen to his patient concerns. If you question his ability he becomes rude and condescending! Being that this was my wife's first visit she had several medical concerns, which seemed to annoy him as well as his constraint for time. My wife was given a thirty minute consult in which her co-pay for the visit was $120.00 He spent way to much time dealing with family medical history, as well as her medical history and medication. All questions which could have easily been answered by having her fill the necessary paperwork prior to her seeing him. Further dissappointment with the doctor was his lack of physical exam and his quick determination of a diagnosis without running any medical tests or lab work. Yet he was quick to prescribe an antibiotic without any bloodwork. When we addressed the issue of my wife's elevated blood pressure over the recent weeks he couldn't justify putting her on blood pressure medication which I had no problem with. My wife told him about the stressful work environment over the recent weeks and her blood pressure being up and down. He told her he could prescribe a low dosage of the antidepressant Zoloft, which we had no interest. I told Dr. Lewis that I woyld monitor my wife's blood pressure on a daily basis at home, and track it until our next visit. I question this individuals lack of compassion and empathy towards his patients. He comes off as a narcissist with illusions of granduer! As a licensed doctor you are sworn to an oath regarding patient care, to me it was very visible that this wasn't so. After reading several other reviews regarding Dr. Lewis behavior it leaves me more than a little worrisome when it comes to patient care. read more

It's been many months since my experience here and I wanted to wait to leave a review so that I was in a place to share my experience without the anger I was left with the day I was there. I'd been coming here for a couple years and the previous visit I had there with Dr Lewis was odd. I couldn't put my finger what the issue was but I chalked it up to him being in a bad mood. I told my husband about it since it was really odd and he said he'd never experienced Dr Lewis that way. Then I came back one day. My left arm had been numb and tingling for days. Like most people, at first I ignored it, then my busy schedule got in the way but a co-worker of mine scared me into going in saying that was the sign of a heart attack. So I went. I told Dr Lewis my concern and everything that happened after that was a series of him belittling me and a level of agitation from him that I was blindsided by. He told me he thought my issue was a pinched nerve. I'm younger and healthy and with that, he believed the nerve was the issue. I simply asked him what the likelihood of it being a heart attack was and his response was something like 'he didn't think so but he can't say 100%'- which I get. So I asked him how I could rule it out cause I didn't want to regret it if it was more serious than a pinched nerve. He began to blatantly attack me saying if I really thought it was a heart attack then why did I wait 4 days to come in? I told him I didn't think about it till a co-worker suggest it. He told me at that point why then did I bother coming to him and not go to the hospital? With each exchange we had from there on he got obviously more and more aggressive with his tone. At that point I was not only concerned for my health but feeling so vulnerable and insecure and smaller and smaller with each jab he took. The next thing that happened just through me for a loop. He told me in a very upset tone that he was not going to get sued for this and I needed to leave his office and go to the hospital!! Sued??? No one was talking about suing anyone. I was a curveball and my mouth must have hit the floor. My husband showed up since he worked down the street and came in the room while Dr Lewis was filling out his paperwork. We left to go the hospital and I had to check with my husband to see if he thought the Dr was being aggressive in his opinion. He had been to Dr Lewis many times over a couple years and said he was a completely different person when he saw him with me and that he was berating me and obviously agitated and was belittling me over and over. (husband will not go back again either after seeing that) All this over me asking if I should be more concerned about what was going on. Never again! I'll never understand why (not that it matters) my asking about it being more serious lead him to get the way he got. I can only assume he's been threatened by someone with a lawsuit before (maybe common for Dr's unfortunately) but what happens with other patients should NOT be taken out on others. Beautiful reception area and the buck stops there. Chloe the MA or intake nurse, unsure of her title was unkind, disrespectful and unprofessional with how she treated us. Once inside, Melissa was very sweet and caring, but once again when the Nurse/Manager came in she treated us with disdain and misdirected/misdiagnosed us. When I brought this to her attention at a later date she did not appear sincerely apologetic. After speaking to other people who have visited the clinic, the feelings were mutual and experiences were similar. Be forewarned that you will not be greeted or treated with care by many of the employees at this location. read more

I have used this clinic as my primary care center for the last few years. I have been more and more frustrated by the way they run their practice. They have denied my refills for a routine birth control, stating that I need to come in for a pap smear every year. I have discussed with the provider that I am 33, no family history of cervical cancer, I have never had an abnormal pap smear and that I am a nurse and I know that the guidelines recommend testing every 3 to 5 years. The nurse practitioner refused my refill and stated I needed to come in for the test. I think it is terrible that they want to demand unnecessary testing and drive up health care costs. This is just one of the many problems with our healthcare system, and this clinic is taking advantage of the patients and the system. read more

SCV Quality Care is a first class operation that I can't say enough good things about. Patients are treated with impeccable care by well informed providers and staff that put patient needs first. Arlene and her staff are always professional in every aspect and make a point to make patients comfortable while treating them the right way. Dr Lewis, Harold Wong, and Kathy Herrera are as good as they come in terms of health care providers and their willingness to listen to patients while providing individualized solutions is a breath of fresh air. I've been going to SCV quality care for 13 years for my annual physicals. Dr. Lewis and his staff are amazing.

I'm writing this review from one of the exam rooms. I was sent here due to an injury at work and unfortunately this was the required clinic. My first appointment took about an hour and a half without an appointment. Was seen by Dr Harold who was attentive and answered my questions to the best of his ability. Came back for a follow up visit with an appointment scheduled and walked in at my scheduled time and again waited about a half hour before being seen. The DR told me at this point it'll just be follow up after follow up until the MRI got approved. Again another follow up was scheduled for in hopes an MRI would have been approved bu today. I walked in to my appointment on time and waited an hour and a half inside the waiting room. At this point another client asked how much longer they should expect and they were told that they were next in line. She gets called and as I'm reaching my last nerve another client walks up to ask what the abbreviations for the vaccinations means as she's trying to remember whether or not she got the vaccination. I KID YOU NOT, the nurse had no idea until the client mentioned "oh it's on the bottom of the paper never mind". At this point I walk up and without even asking they knew what I was going to ask. They quickly got me into an exam room where a nurse ran around like a chicken with her head cut off taking my temperature and taking my pulse. I've now been in this exam room for 20 minutes and have yet to be seen. If I wasn't required to be here I would've walked out an hour ago but unfortunately I'm stuck here. If you're one of the poor souls who's required to come to this clinic I wish you the best of luck. Otherwise stay far far away from this place. read more

I showed up at 12:31 on a Saturday for a simple prescription renewal and was turned away since they stop checking people in at 12:30. There was no one in the waiting room. I like the Drs here, but that was so offensive that I'm no longer going to use SCV as my primary medical center. I'm giving two stars because I like the Drs but that was unacceptable. My experience at SCV Quality Care today was very pleasant. I was a walk-in, and it was busy, but I only waited about 20 minutes. The environment of the facility is very calming and the staff, nurses, and doctor were all very considerate and helpful. I saw the NP Kathy and she was perfectly nice. My family usually comes to see Dr. Lewis though, and he is the best there is! I know I can always trust in him and everyone else at SCV Quality Care. read more

I have been to this facility for a TB test, but that is not why I am rating this location. I have spent ALL afternoon trying to figure out how my insurance works. I spoke to Barbara in billing, and she kindly helped me understand how it will work. I am so impressed with the patience and kindness she showed me, not even being a patient of SCV Quality Care yet. I feel very confident that when the time comes for Urgent Care assistance, my family can go here and get the help we need. Love this place! Everyone I refer loves it too. I will continue to refer folks here. Been patient for years. Drs and gnp are great - better than most I have seen. (That's why they typically have a wait!) They know when it's a diagnosis they can treat vs. when patient needs to see a specialist. One thing though - it would be great if they would change their online hours to the time of last patient check-in. When you are sick and google hours from a phone - it shows a half hour longer than the time they take their last patient. So budget time for a visit and don't come in last minute. read more

I've been here a couple of times. First time, the doc figured out I had a sinus infection, had the worst allergies!! He was spot on and professional. The office is clean. It does take a bit long to be seen, but when they do, they are nice and get the job done. read more

Although I love this place still, and the doctor and physicians are fantastic, the last time I was there I waited over an hour to be seen, and I between times waiting over 20 minutes two different times. The wait never used to be that long. I loved when i could walk in and walk ok. But price for cash patients is great and like I said, the doctors are fantastic. But I give 4 stars for long wait time and for them letting Alex Turnipseed move on to bigger and better things (which in reality is great for him but he was the best physician I've ever met with, and I'm pretty sad that he's no longer there). read more

I have been diagnosed and dealing with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) since 1984, 35+ years to be exact. Last Friday February 1, 2019 I had my first appointment with Dr. Dennis Lewis at SCV Quality Care in Valencia. My insurance carrier recommended Dr. Lewis after not having a Family Care Physician for about 2 and half years, due to Medical Insurance loss. I've been fighting a cold for the past month, my blood pressure has been out of wack lately as well as many health issues in part due to my Lupus. When they called me inside the examination room to see this SO CALL Dr. Dennis Lewis, my husband came with me, he has been a wonderful supporter and my advocate for the past 10 years. The Nurse took my vital sign and told us the Dr. will be with us in a minute. I need to mention that the Nurse was nice and polite but never let us know how were my vital signs. I had to asked her about them before she left the examination room. Few minutes past and Dr. Dennis Lewis came inside, he introduced himself to me and my husband and started asking me about my family health history, everything was going normal then he proceeded to asking me what was my visit for and I told him that I was a new patient. I told him I have Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, I explained about my cold, he started examining me, and asking me if I was taking any medication which I told yes, after that he asked me for the second time what else besides my cold brought me in, which I started pointing out about my knees problems which he related to my Lupus, for the third time he asked me besides my cold, my knees anything else so I told him about my blood pressure problems he asked about the readings. He wasn't sure if he would prescribe me a blood pressure medication since he wasn't sure if my blood pressure problems is caused by stress instead he wants to prescribe me Zoloft an antidepressant medication. My husband and I told him that we would rather start monitoring my blood pressure until we see him again. He repeated that I can take it in a low dose of Zoloft and our answer was no. Then Dr. Dennis Lewis started to become very condescending and rude, he asked for the fourth time if I have any other health issues that he needed to know but at the moment he started getting agitated, when I was ready to tell him and show him another issue with my body he snapped at me telling that he didn't have enough time to go over with me about more health issues on my first visit, which I found it very odd especially when he was the one who kept asking me for the fourth time about my issues. At the giving moment I got frustrated with him and his lack of empathy, compassion and understanding, talking over me. It isn't that I want to be babied. I asked him firmly if he could order an ultrasound, that's when he snapped at me for the second time, he and talking to me belittle me and started telling to me in a very condescending tone the reasons why he's not going to order an ultrasound. He lectured me about what ultrasounds are for, he actually recommended for me to see a Dermatologist because my problem that show on my lower body looks to him like skin cancer..He was debating whether to order some blood work, since I'm schedule to see my Reumatologist in a couple of weeks. He was so sure that my specialist would perform a lot of lab work on me...I am 50 years old and dealing with my Systemic lupus Erythematosus for 35+years, I have been seen and taken care by wonderful Drs and Specialists, not only at UCLA medical centers but also at Cedars Sinai for years. I've never experienced such a humiliation by a SO CALLED DR. Which makes wonder if he got his Licenses and certificates at the Mcarthur Park...I didn't want to give him any starts however this app requires at a start in order to post. read more

Arrived at 6:40 and first thing staff said was they won't see any more patients even though they don't close till 7:00. Didn't even ask what the injury was. Staff had no regard for patients or their well being. Clearly more concerned about closing up shop for the day than a patient in need. read more

Not quality at all SCV Horrible experience, I didn't see a doctor in my 4 hr wait out and in a room. X-ray results not read by radiologist 4 days after it was done. Nothing about the care is urgent, you will be on hold for ever, ask to leave a message we will call you back. read more

Impressed!! Reception is clean, comfortable, and relaxed. Receptionist was pleasant, helpful, and honest (evidentially I can't count money, thank god she can). Dr Lewis is incredible, takes time to listen to complaints, and and an easily recognizable passion for the well being of his patients rarely seen in providers. Kind of looking forward to getting sick again so I can see Dr Lewis. Would highly recommend and absolutely would return if needed. read more

Dr. Dennis Lewis at SCV Quality Care is the type of primary care doctor most people can only dream of having. After seeing him once as an urgent care patient I immediately changed him to be my primary doctor. If I have an issue that takes an hour to diagnose/treat, he is willing to put in the extra time. While sometimes this means there is an extra long wait to see him, it is well worth it. If you want a doctor that puts in as much time as needed you need to be flexible with your wait time. I have a complicated medical history but Dr. Lewis effectively manages my care and genuinely cares about me as an individual. And their new location is great! read more

I'm really annoyed. The website hours say til 7:00. When I arrived at 6:37 the front desk person rudely stated that they were no longer checking in patients; a patient had to check in by 6:30. I explained that I really needed to be seen as I had a fever and very bad sore throat. She reiterated that they were not taking any more patients. I pointed out that the website said 7:00 and asked if the 6:30 check in was somewhere else on the website to which she admitted that it was not but that was the policy. I asked her if the policy was posted in the office and again she admitted it was not. I am not a psychic.....if the website hours say 7 that should mean the doors close at 7 unless otherwise indicated. The front desk person was completely uncompassionate and unsympathetic. She could care less. I am posting this as I am in the waiting room of a doctor's office that is taking patients and I will not return to SCV Quality Care. read more

I moved 350 miles away, coveredca changed my insurance plan, and I ran out of refills on my prescription. With 10 days until my new health insurance starts Dr. Lewis flat refused to give even a 10 day refill unless I came to their office in person. Dr. Lewis' last words to me were "take care." Dr. Dennis Lewis is amazing. You never feel rushed as he spends enough time with you to thoroughly go over your health and treatment plan. He is very compassionate and caring. He is a one stop physician as he knows so much about different health issues. For instance, my husband is having some pain in his hand. Normally, he would have gone to an orthopaedic doctor that we have in Burbank but Dr. Lewis has the experience and knowledge about bones as well so it was easier and less stressful to be treated on the spot. I have also seen the PA in the office and had a good experience. She is very helpful and responsive. Everyone from the front office staff, billing, nurses, etc. have been so personable and friendly. Like most doctor offices, there will be a wait. I have never waited longer than 30 minutes and this was when I walked in without an appointment. Last year, the front desk let me know when Dr. Lewis can be seen without an appointment and I will generally go in during that time without any issue. If you don't want to wait for him, the PA is very good as well. read more
