I have been going to SCV Quality Care for many years because of Dr. Louis. Head and shoulders above other doctors. Compassionate, kind and caring. Allows the time necessary to explain your situation and discuss options. Never rushed. Through the years Dr. Louis became more difficult to get an appointment with due to his popularity. As a result, I started going to the other members of his team. All outstanding just like Dr. Louis. Most recently I began to notice his staff at the front desk. Friendly and helpful always greeting you with a smile like an old friend. During my most recent visit, Arlene was especially helpful in securing information from another doctor. Highly recommend. BTW. Yelp has me in SF but I live in Valencia. Go get your physical. This team is GREAT. read more

Very nice office, the rest of the the staff is nice and friendly, but that's where it stops. Cohle or Zoey (couldn't tell because she told me her name with an attitude) was very rude and apparently had an attitude from when I walked in the door. I was here for my drug screening and check up for my new hire position at the hospital. After I told her my reason for being there she quickly responded with a rude remark that I was at the wrong place. Then after I assured her that I was at the right place I had to call the lady from my HR on speaker to tell her that I was in the system and that shent the verification code to them. After a minute of going back and forth with this, one of her co workers had to point out that I did have a appointment and that my papers were right in from of Zoey in a folder. Then proceed to tell me to fill out paperwork with an attitude. I don't who pissed her off or if she woke up on the wrong side of the bed. But if I ever have to come back here I will be sure no to see her help. I understand times are crazy right now, but ots no excuse for poor customer service. It was so bad that a fellow patient in the waiting area even commented to me on how rude she was. I hope this gets correct in time. I really dislike going to the doctors and avoid it as much as possible. So I am very happy when I find a doctor that I really like. I admit the wait was a little long, but Dr. Lewis was worth it. He listened to me, figured out the cause of my problems, and came up with a quick solution. He is engaging and caring balanced perfectly with efficiency and professionalism. Ever since Dr. Alex Tunipseed left the practice has just gone down hill. My last visit I ended up asking for my copay back and left to go else where. The wait times are ridiculous especially considering they only had 3 other patients in the office at the time. I waited about 2 hours. And the receptionist was rude and unprofessional, she looked like she was half asleep and had no interest in being there at all. Please think twice before visiting this urgent care!! We typically go to Valencia Medical Care for urgent care which we love, but we weren't out that way so we decided to try this new Urgent Care out of convenience. This was my first visit to this urgent care facility. We came in about 45 minutes prior to their closing time. After the waiting period, they took my daughter in to see the doctor which was closer to their actual closing time. The doctor (Dr. Lewis) answers a phone call as we were discussing my daughter's reason for visit and talks to the person on his phone, who I'm assuming was his wife and says "Sorry I'm so sorry but someone came in 15 minutes before we close so i won't be out of here yet etc, etc") He was on the phone for a good 2-3 minutes or so. As we sat there and waited for him to finish up his personal business. Awkward to say the least but most of all poor bedside manner! I was shocked! I've never had a doctor do that during an actual visit. What doctor answers a personal phone call right in the middle of discussing things to me during our visit and makes the patient feel uncomfortable for coming in almost an hour prior to them closing. It was pretty clear to me that his intention was to do just that. This doctor had a very strange personality. He was very defensive and didn't really listen to the concerns of our visit. Regarding billing: Our visit was on 2/20 and i called on 3/22 to ask for an invoice of proof of service showing what services were performed that day in order to submit to my Health savings account provider. When i called the billing contact, she said that they still didn't show that the doctor had input that info in the system. She said that "this doctor in particular is very backed up and behind on his paperwork). I asked if he could call me back so I could get an accurate estimate as to when I'd be able to expect this. He called back and was VERY defensive. Very strange...and not a great personality for someone who is dealing with patients on a daily basis! There are definitely a ton of other urgent care options in Valencia. Think twice before choosing this one! read more

It was disappointing that Alex Turnipseed is no longer on staff. So I decided I would try another provider. The level of service was no where near the excellent service that has always been given to me by Alex Turnipseed in the past. So, for future physicals, I am off to find out where Alex Turnipseed went to. It is rare to find a healthcare provider that actually cares about your health and listens to you the way Alex Turnipseed did. I will not be returning to rhis center. My husband sliced the tip of his finger almost all the way off a few days ago and after a successful er visit, he needed to be rechecked for infection but we felt that since it was no longer urgent, we shouldn't add to the real emergencies that the er has to deal with and just go to urgent care instead. BAD IDEA! The Dr. here (woman, I can't remember her name) peeled off the treatment that was supposed to be left to sit/seal and the instructions specifically say not to peel it off. We told them the exact words of the er Dr., and yet they peeled the stuff off which resulted in excessive bleeding. The Dr. seemed confused and not sure and said that it is expected to bleed and to change the dressing daily. We went to the er right after, feeling very unsure and that this didn't sound right at all per what we were told previously. The er Dr. was so upset that another Dr. would remove the "surgiseal", and that obviously any major cut needs to be sealed to prevent infection and not left open and expected to bleed. We could have spent way less time and a better Mothers Day at home with butterfly strips from CVS! Anyway, I am not one to write reviews and am only doing so in the hope that if this Urgent Care does happen to even read these.. they will take a second to make sure of what the patient is referring to, if they have had prior care especially, and if they aren't sure then just to have the confidence to say so. If they had just said that they were unsure of the "surgiseal" treatment and that it was best to go back to the er doctor that would have been much more preferable than making the wound worse to where we had to go back to the er anyway, and in even worse shape. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Lewis for years. I've actually referred him to a lot of my friends, and now I feel bad and wish I hadn't. I called their office ALL week regarding a prescription and kept getting the SAME response/runaround from the front desk. FINALLY Dr. Lewis just called me back personally, and he must have had a really bad day and couldn't wait to take it out on someone, unfortunately, that person was me. He was talking so rude and condescending to me I could NOT believe it. He would not let me get a word in at all, and I had to interrupt him to try and explain why he was so confused and not understanding what I called for. He kept talking over me so the conversation ended because I said 'I not going to argue with you and I guess I have to find a new dr." His quick response was "ok" then hung up. SO FRUSTRATING! I'm so disappointed because I have so many close friends that go to him and I really did think I FINALLY found a DR that actually cares.....ugh. read more

I have been going to this practice for over ten years, sadly it has been going downhill since. My hope was restored when Alex Turnipseed practiced at this office; he was smart to leave. The staff is rude and does not care about their patients. From the time you walk in to the front ladies, to seeing a doctor or PA, or the rude Asian woman who walks around seeming to be running things; all utterly rude and treat you as if you are unimportant. This place needs serious improvements. A week ago I went in refill on medications and they had said it would be called in, never was called in. I called 3-4 times and everyone that answered was rude and not helpful. I called in one more time and I spoke to Vanessa, now I remember her name because she answered with the most helpful voice and for a second I thought she was the office manager or supervisor. I'm a office manager at a clinic so I know how everything goes behind the doors. One call and I got my medication with her help. She was extremely helpful, she was nice and had compassion for me. She apologized to me countless number of times. And said she will find out what happened and she got the medication for me. I'm glad to have had her help. I now will only ask for her. read more

Dr. Lewis not only has a wonderful bedside manner, but is intelligent, patient, and caring. He takes the time to listen and thoroughly explains his findings. After my recent visit, he made sure to follow up, report my lab results, and recommend a specialist. He makes you feel comfortable and is everything you can hope for in a doctor. read more

I learned about SCV QUALITY Care several years ago when I needed to see a doctor immediately, but my primary care physician office could not see me that day. My PCP office is located near Henry Mayo Hospital. In desperation for medical attention I drove to my PCP office anyway to explain personally my medical emergency hoping they would figure a way to get me in. The only option I was given was to go to their urgent care located in Woodland Hills. Desperate and sick I felt I had no choice but to make the drive. As I was maneuvering through the parking lot I noticed a sign for a medical office stating Walk Ins Welcome. Best decision I ever made because I walked into SCV Quality Care. I have multiple sclerosis so I have a tremendous amount of experience meeting and being treating by a plethora of different doctors throughout the years. I know that when I meet an outstanding doctor who listens and is thorough, I have hit the lottery and I must sign up to have that MD as my doctor.It has been was of the most difficult tasks in my life finding a good, caring, thorough doctor who truly listens and does not treat me like an educated clueless individual. I found that special medical professional my first visit at SCV Quality Care several years ago when I was seen by Alex Turnispeed, Physician Assistant. Unfortunately, my insurance would take pay enough of the bill so I could not see him as my PCP back then. MY husband and 3 daughters have seen him throughout the years and all of us adore him professionally and because he is just a great guy and personable and kind human being. Tonight I was in need to see a Dr on an urgent care basis. I have had incomplete and rushed visits at the newer urgent care we have been using because it is closer to my home. I knew if I saw Dr. Alex he would listen to what I consider a medical emergency and tell me exactly which specialist I need to see and take the steps needed to get my four month medical issue addressed properly. The other urgent care I had been seeing the past year gave me anxiety meds and said I was worrying too much. The doctor didnt even EXAMINE any part of my body. The last time before tonight, SCV Quality Care was located in parking lot of Henry Mayo. The front staff was always horrible. This was a major reason I did not figjt my insurance to cover in full my visits to Dr. ALEX. Phone call etiquette by the receptionist was the worst. To call in to make an appointment or ask questions was always horrible. Didn't matter if it was a different person each time taking the phone call at SCV Quality. She was always rude, made my husband and I both on Saturday several different occassions feel like we were a nuisance and we were bothering her. The front desk staff was just as miserable and horrible to all the patients as we check in. Their tone is rude, you are made to feel unwelcome and they never show any initiative to help the patients if they need to set up payment plans or want/need any type of help. At the beginning of this week I called SCV Quality to inquire on Dr. ALEX. I knew I needed to go to an urgent care this week and after not visiting SCV Quality Care for over a year, I need confirmation that he worked there and what his schedule was. The receptionist was not friendly nor accomodating. Her phone demeanor is not what I would allow for my business. Tonight when I made it into the new and beautiful SCV Quality Care Urgent Care, I was shocked then excited to be helped and go through the patient intake process by two extremely helpful, patient, kind and professional front desk staff. The two women who went above and beyond to answer my questions. They were the epitome of professional front desk workers I beg the office manager to review the office staff and their verbal exchanges with the patients. Tonight, I was so PLEASED to be helped by Vanessa and April. They are nothing like the office personnel U have dealt with in the years past atvthis facility. I have spoken each time I have visited SCV Quality Care to other patients in the waiting room about the front desk personnel and every single waiting patient has said the same thing: the only reason they put up with the rude unprofessionalism is because Dr. ALEX is the best. But they have never had pleasant experience with office staff! So if you ever need the best doctor I have found in my searching for 20 years, Dr. Alex is your man! It is obvious that there are still some rude unprofessional workers there that I experienced on Wednesday evening on the phone. But Vanessa and especially April were so amazing and deserve accolades feom their supervisor. If the majority of the office staff is the same from 3 years ago, I highly recommend trainng them in professional and courteous behavior. People come to this office when they don't feel well or are in pain. True Professionals at the front desk shoukd already be aware of this. The place was very nice, very clean and up to date. I had been seen at the location next to the hospital a couple of years ago and let me tell you what a difference it was. The only reason why I continued to go to them was because of the doctors, the front desk in the past were mean and crude. They did not care about the feelings! This time around what a change they have made, about time! I went in was surprised that the place was beautiful, it looks like a real drs office not a crack house. I was greeted by Vanessa and April. Needless to say they were wonderful compared to the past! Great attitude and extremely understanding! Great job to the manager! They helped me with every question I had. I must say if you need any help contact one of them or go in when they are there! wonderful customer service!Now i saw Dr.lewis for the first time, I always see Alex! I see the Kathy the RN and she is outstanding. The nurses are great, all very nice. The people in the office are what ruin this place. One receptionist in particular is the most rude person I have ever met. I was sent here through the Veterans Affairs Choice program and when I checked in she grilled me in front of a packed lobby like I was some kind of criminal trying to get away with a free doctors visit. When I gave her my approval letter she then went on to tell me she had no idea what this program was and that she would have to verify that I was in fact eligible to be seen. She proceeded to call the number on the sheet I gave her, which approved me for 12 visits. She was very loud on the phone call and behaved as if I were making it up. It was humiliating. When I checked out she came across the office and interrupted myself and the woman trying to schedule my follow up to let me know that it was not approved to come back and I could go ahead and make the appt but it was not approved and if I came I would pay for it. She was awful. Also the doctor is never given messages when I call. It is impossible to speak with her. read more

This is one of the worst places I have ever been to. The front staff has always been rude whether in person or over the phone. The customer service can be compared to Mcdonalds or maybe even worse. Aside from the customer service, I want to talk about Kathy Herrera. Every time I was seen by Kathy, she was always bitter and crude. She hasn't been of any help out of the multiple times I have visited. The only person that actually is worth being a provider is Alex Turnipseed. He deserves five stars for actually trying to help me out since my work injury. Kathy would always tell me, "I don't know what else to do" or "You probably need to find a new job". Instead of helping she was just making matters worse and causing stress. I'm tired of having to hear her sigh whenever she is reading through the papers during my follow-ups. Alex made me feel better by saying things like, "I'm going to try to get you fixed up for summer (or back to work." Maybe Kathy is telling me the cold truth, but to just sit down and sigh and tell me there is nothing she can do is just plain disgusting. I'd rather have someone like Alex help me by getting me the care I need. If you do end up going here, just deal with the staff and try to get an appointment with Alex Turnipseed. read more

Dr. Lewis is by far one of the best doctors! Extremely intelligent, competent, and caring! My mom first saw him for a hand injury, which was caused by her lifting my little ones too much in her old age. He was so good with her that she refuses to see anyone else when she is here visiting us from Hawaii and needs medical care. She had a stroke this past summer while here with us and he was very thorough when I took her in after she was discharged from Henry Mayo Hospital. He was even more thorough than the doctors on duty assigned to her while she was at the hospital. I myself went in for an issue based on blood work ordered by another doctor. Dr. Lewis clarified the issue for me and explained why it was not cause for concern. My husband recently went in for the worse pain I had ever seen him in. Both Dr. Lewis and Alex took very good care of him. I'm surprised to see negative reviews on here. I'm guessing that SCV Quality Care going through two moves from their old location (first to Castaic and then to Valencia Blvd) is perhaps why things did not go as smoothly as they usually do with regards to issues others are mentioning in their reviews. I personally am willing to be patient with the hiccups that happen with moving to a new location given the doctor here genuinely cares about providing quality medical care to his patients. I had a very good experience with this care facility. Recently needed urgent care to deal with a rash that popped up at a wound site which was not healing well (6 weeks old). I was a little frightened because the rash was spreading over my entire body. I didn't have to wait long. I was seen by P.A. Alex Turnipseed who was engaging, knowledgeable, thorough and upbeat. My condition was improving but I did return to the office 3 days later to pick up lab reports and had a couple of follow up questions. Alex was not in yet so I was seen by Dr Lewis. Dr Lewis took an interest in my condition as if I was his patient. He made suggestions and adjustments to my care program which addressed my concerns. I really appreciate the way both of these professionals took time with me, listened attentively and discussed their evaluations in an inclusive way. My wound is healing nicely and rash nearly gone just 4 days later after first visit. Thank you! read more
