We hired Shannon for our wedding for partial coordination (3 months prior to event) with the idea that she would be the point of contact leading up to the big day. It was one of the best ideas we had, and a worthwhile additional cost. Leading up to the event (2-3 months prior to the event), communication was a bit spotty and occasionally we would need to send a reminder email, but to be completely fair, we were not the most responsive clients either. However, during the 1-month leading up to the event, communication was spot on and Shannon never missed a beat when communicating with vendors or nailing down timelines and the nitty gritty details of the wedding. Even when my entire family was late to the rehearsal the night prior, Shannon never seemed bothered or thrown off, and almost seemed to expect it. On the day of the event, it was as if we showed up to a party fully planned and coordinated by someone else. Everything was set up and ready to go, and the transitions from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception went beautifully. We hardly heard from Shannon that day, which as the bride and groom, we could not have asked for more. We were stress-free, as intended, and it was all thanks to the hard work and dedication of the SD Event Production team. We absolutely recommend utilizing this event coordination team. We are so beyond grateful and thankful to have had Shannon McQuade and Dana from SDEP accompany us on the journey of Wedding planning for our daughter and son-in-law! We hired SD Events for a last-minute event at my school. They only had three weeks to come up with a plan and hire all the vendors. Even though time was ridiculously short, they were able to step in make an incredible event for our students. Obviously I had never planned a wedding before and was a little flustered as to where to start. Shannon was so helpful with sending me vendors she loved to work with, taking all my calls and if she missed one, calling me back right away! With each phone call she made me feel more at ease with our planning. Day of the wedding Shannon was amazing! She was at the venue making sure things got set up correctly as well as making sure my vision came to life. This company is a literal NIGHTMARE. I found them on yelp and I, too, was initially drawn in by the fairly good reviews. I realized the business was newer but figured they had some previous experience in the industry and would be a great choice to coordinate our wedding. Wrong! We initially had some good communication before the two week period and Shannon was responsive. Two weeks before the wedding, when she was supposed to take over, we met once for a walk through of the venue. She showed up in a suit and seemed very professional. She took photos and said she would do diagrams and a timeline. The diagrams were just of the tables, nothing else. She sent the timeline to SOME of the vendors, not all, and had no contact besides that. She did not field any of the final phone calls as she claims, I received all of them and most of the vendors had not even spoken to her. I didn't complain about this because I was mostly concerned with having someone set up and run things the day of. She was not capable of that either. We did not have a rehearsal the day before the wedding due to conflicting flights with everyone coming into town. Our walk through was supposed to be at 2pm the day of the wedding while the groom and I did the first look. Shannon did not even come by the venue to see where things were, what needed to be set up where, where to find it, etc. I ended up sending her walk through videos so she had some idea of what was going on. She arrived at the venue at 130pm the day of the wedding. Keep in mind, the finished time was 2pm as she was supposed to be doing a rehearsal at 2pm and then running my ceremony at 3pm. Nothing was set up, the groomsmen arrived and had to start helping her. My own guests had to arrive and start helping. I get there late due to an issue with my makeup artist arriving and finishing late, and I see Shannon and Dana running around in Tshirts, flip-flops, and jean shorts! I legitimately didn't even recognize them as vendors. She has nothing set up for the ceremony, she's giving my bridal party bad directions, and it's generally a mess. We do the ceremony and start taking photos and I am bombarded with complaints from my family, the venue owners, the catering staff etc, about the issues they're facing and how Shannon is not only not helping, but genuinely rude every time they try to talk to her. At this point, we call Shannon and Dana over and ask them to explain. They acknowledge they are behind schedule, but think it's fine and they can get back on track. I'm furious and explain that I don't find this acceptable and I think they've done enough damage and completely breached their contract at this point. Dana immediately agrees to leave and offers us a refund, Shannon argues that they can stay and be helpful and find a resolution. What resolution given that my guests have done your work for you? They leave, but on the way out, they stop and network with my other vendors and ask to collaborate on future events! You have just been fired from an event; you certainly don't need to be attempting to drum up business on your way out. The next day Shannon sends me a condescending email talking about how she feels they did so much (including asinine things like positioning the photographer or plugging in a photo printer) but since we're unhappy, she'll give us a partial refund now. This is yet another example of her pulling a bait and switch as they previously agreed to refund us fully and were there less than 3 hours. I respond back and agree to a 75% refund based on duties not completed, merely to avoid drawing this out with legal action for breach of contract and monetary damages as I prefer to never interact with her again. She doesn't respond, of course, and later issues a less than 50% refund. There are so many more details of her ineptitude that I could include but I'd rather not waste my time further. Long story short, pass on this duo of newbies and go with someone who won't ruin your special days. Edit: I only selected this business to work with due to the fact that Yelp sponsored them and they paid to add a bunch of tags talking about how they're women owned and family friendly. This was a mistake. Their marketing skills are just much better than their coordinator skills. After I posted my review and several other people posted their own experiences at my event with SDEP, Shannon and Dana had their friends post reviews to improve their ratings and threatened to sue me for the negative reviews. I would highly recommend everyone avoid this business and find actual professionals to work with, rather than give your trust to someone who will drop the ball and then go to extreme lengths to do everything but own up to their mistakes. read more

I had the worst experience with this company. My bride and I hired them as the day of coordinator to make sure that our special day ran smoothly and to handle set up. This was immediately apparent as a huge mistake. The venue was not any where near ready when the wedding party started to show up, the coordinators arrived to set up about 30 minutes before the guests were set to start arriving, there was little to no directiom given to the other vendors, it was clear the vendors did not have a sense of how anything was supposed to be setup and run, and this company's representatives were severely under dressed for a wedding (tshirts, jean shorts or leggings and flip flops). We discussed with them and came to the conclusion that would leave and refund us as they could not really fix the damage that had been done, but they provided only a partial refund and they didn't seem to want to come to any sort of reasonable resolution . If I could go back and keep looking for a different company to coordinate my wedding, I would.  We selected them only because they were sponsored by yelp, but according to yelp information, this seems to be due to the fact that they paid to add tags to their business page ("women owned" "LGBT friendly" etc).   They are now having their friends post good reviews to improve their ratings and threatening to sue us. I can not stress enough how much of a hassle this company is and how in my opinion, you should absolutely look elsewhere unless you enjoy being scammed or really like small claims court. read more

I think it's important to note that my guests and I are a bit much to handle at times, yet Shannon did not only gracefully meet our expectations but exceeded them. As a day of coordinator I expected to hand over the contacts and contract several days prior and for her to assume control but she did much more than that. Several weeks prior to the wedding she reached out to the vendors and made sure they were all tracking our timeline. During the ceremony we had a couple issues with the venue and if it wasn't for the way Shannon handled everything so well I would've been extremely stressed out . I booked Shannon for my wedding coordinator/Partial planning and it was the best thing I ever did. I didn't have to lift a finger on my wedding day and she coordinated with all my vendors before hand and during. She made sure my day was perfect.
