We paid over $20,000 upfront in full to Sea & Air International (USDOT #2484337, MC-40986, FMC #020349) to ship irreplaceable family heirlooms from France to the US as our mother downsized her home. These were pieces that had been in our family for generations, split between myself in Pennsylvania and my brother in Connecticut. Once they had our money, we had zero leverage. What should have been straightforward turned into a nightmare of incompetence, dishonesty, and shocking unprofessionalism - all personally mismanaged by Yaniv, the company president and co-owner. MISSING BOX - NEVER FOUND A box containing irreplaceable family heirlooms has never been found: a 100+ year old family dinner service, an antique wicker basket, and other irreplaceable items. Sea & Air noticed the box was missing when the container arrived at their US warehouse in October 2025 and told NO ONE for over a month - not us, not their French subcontractor Grospiron who handled packing. The container arrived in October but wasn't delivered until November. Over a month of complete silence while they knew something was wrong. PRESIDENT YANIV LIED - THEN ADMITTED IT IN WRITING When we discovered the missing box, Yaniv told us Sea & Air had contacted Grospiron immediately to investigate. This was a lie. Florence from Grospiron confirmed in her December 11, 2025 email: "When your container was received at the Sea & Air warehouse towards the end of October, no missing package was reported to us." When confronted, Yaniv admitted in his December 17, 2025 email: "We did not report in time on the missing box, you are right." Dana (Claims Specialist) and Chris (Executive VP) at W K Webster insurance were copied on this email as witnesses to the admission. The president lied to our faces, got caught by his own subcontractor, then admitted it in writing. DAMAGED FURNITURE I received two antique cabinets damaged by subcontractors during delivery to my Pennsylvania home. When I pointed out the damage while they were barely beginning delivery, their response was: "Whatever you say, bro, contact the office." Not only careless but deeply unprofessional. WRONG DELIVERY ADDRESS My brother's desk drawer was delivered to me in Pennsylvania by mistake. I had to drive it to Connecticut myself. IMPROPERLY PACKED ITEMS My brother received an antique bowl shattered to pieces. It had been packed standing on its edge - any competent mover knows this guarantees damage during transport. THE INSULTING SETTLEMENT AND "BLACKMAIL" ACCUSATION After all these failures on a $20,000+ move, Sea & Air initially offered $250 (1.25% of what we paid), eventually raised to $500 (2.5%). We requested $1,000 - only 5% of the move cost, incredibly modest given they lost items that cannot be replaced at any price. President Yaniv's response was to accuse us of "blackmail" and "extortion" for saying we would leave honest reviews if they didn't offer fair compensation. Direct quote: "demands for payment conditioned upon the suppression of reviews may constitute coercive conduct, including blackmail or extortion." Mentioning you'll leave factual reviews if a company fails you is normal consumer behavior, not blackmail. Instead of accountability, they chose legal intimidation. WARNING: FULL PAYMENT UPFRONT Sea & Air requires full payment upfront. Once they have your money, you have absolutely no leverage when things go wrong. And as our experience shows, when things go catastrophically wrong, President Yaniv will lie, fail to investigate, stay silent, offer insultingly low compensation, and accuse you of blackmail for pushing back. TIMELINE * Sept 2025: Move from France, PAID $20K+ UPFRONT * Oct 2025: Container arrived, box missing, Sea & Air silent * Nov 2025: Delivered after month of silence * Dec 11, 2025: Grospiron confirmed they were never contacted * Dec 17, 2025: Yaniv admitted "We did not report in time" * Dec 2025-Jan 2026: Offers of $250, then $500 * Jan 2026: We requested $1,000; accused of "blackmail" * Feb 2026: Matter declared "closed"; we file complaints and reviews BOTTOM LINE We trusted Sea & Air International with generations of family history. They lost irreplaceable items, damaged what they didn't lose, lied about investigating, stayed silent for a month when they knew something was wrong, and insulted us with a $500 offer on a $20,000+ move. This wasn't a junior employee - this was the president and co-owner personally mismanaging every single step. We are filing formal complaints with the FMC, FMCSA, BBB, International Association of Movers, and British Association of Removers. After my daughter's passing, we were pressed for time to pack up and clear her apartment and move some items from NYC to Dallas, Texas. Other items were shipped to Switzerland. The movers did an outstanding job packing expensive art and a custom table set, among other household goods. The family decided to move my husband to our home in Portugal. We were all in an unstable state of mind during this period. I packed what I could but a large bulk of the moving were done by the Sea & Air team on the ground. They were professionals, compassionate, courteous and overall marvelous human beings. Actually, from the coordinating team online to the movers onsite and their connecting moving company in Portugal, the whole experience was smooth and seemed effortless. They listened and adapted to our situation. It was so moving when the team who went to our house said they would add us into their thoughts and prayers before they left. The fees they quoted were really reasonable considering the labor and care they put into it and the container size amount to be moved. 50 person office move location: NYC Time: 6 hours including paving and unpacking From first point of contact the team were fantastic, we had a tour of the office to give an accurate quote. On the move day the team were punctual and very professional with duty of care of our belongings, the entire move was done in under 6 hours including packing and unpacking and travelling across town during high traffic times. The invoice we received matched that of our quote. We previously had issues with another company that did a switch and bait demanding an extra $1700 and broke some of our goods after turning up 3 hours late so this was a welcomed service. We moved from Brooklyn to Australia with Sea & Air. On the day of our pick-up, the movers were unprofessional (one was arguing with his wife on the phone in the middle of our street) but got everything packed quickly. We paid $6,400 + tips in cash directly to the moving foreman per our quote. Not two days later we received an invoice for an additional $4,000+ due to going over the space limits. This is despite a thorough inventory and size estimate of our boxes and furniture directly with an account rep. The dispute over the massive price disparity (how could "professionals" possibly mess up an estimate that badly?) led to our shipment being delayed further on an already lengthy trip. We eventually settled on throwing away several of our belongings and paid an additional few hundred dollars. Our stuff arrived two months after we did in poor condition. There were boxes that contained no liquids but were covered in greasy stains and puncture marks. Several pieces of furniture, which Sea & Air packed for us, were crushed or had holes punched into them. Don't bother using this company, they don't seem to value their customers or their belongings. Pick from any of the other hundred international moving companies in New York, I certainly wish I had. read more

During the pandemic, I moved internationally from New York to Malaga (Spain). Everything was easy with Sea and Air. I was in contact with Yaniv during all the process. He was always available to my calls and emails. The notice was short and they were able to pick up as requested and the goods where also delivered on time. Honestly, Jon and the Sea & Air team made things really easy. I scheduled my move to Hong Kong from New York in relatively short notice (~1 month) and had lots of jitters about moving. After speaking to what may have been with two dozen different moving companies, I had confidence in Jon and the Sea & Air team since they were super responsive, honest and fair about pricing, and were able to hold my hand throughout the process. Full disclosure, I was moving out a studio-sized room without a bed or large furniture. I packed my boxes and the moving team was able to bubble-wrap the things that couldn't fit. When they came in the morning, the movers took around 30 minutes to clear around 20 boxes. Really painless. I wanted to wait until I received my stuff before writing the review. I was anxious about the potential damage that could happen during the transit process. Everything was as is the day I packed them up and it was truly a door to door process. The only suggestions I would have would be outlining communication on the local team in the destination about local tariffs and my stuff arrived towards the longer end the estimated arrival time. I was doing a big moving from US to France : first they over charged the delivery to my address claiming that the door to door delivery I signed for was until the shipment reached the temporary storage they used with their French partner. Then I received some heavily damaged items and a few lost boxes. They refused to make the insurance work because I signed up for a 3 month insurance and that delay passed, although nothing proved the damage was done after those 3 months (most likely it happened within the 3 months). read more

I am delighted to have just received delivery of our household contents in Valencia, Spain only two months after they were packed up by Sea & Air International in our New York City one-bedroom apartment. We filled a 20-foot container and had Sea & Air do all the packing. The process started over a year ago during the height of the pandemic with a virtual walk through that was later followed up with an in-person visit, taking into account all that we had jettisoned in the interim. I interviewed five different movers, comparing prices, services, and references. Interestingly, one of the big companies asked who else I was considering, and when I said, Sea & Air, he admitted, I've only heard good things about them. In the end, Sea & Air was the clear winner; I was particularly encouraged that they had handled other moves from NYC to Valencia with glowing reviews. The crew in New York was professional, courteous, and careful. They worked straight through the day from 9 am to 6 pm packing sculptures, paintings, dishes, clothing, books, furniture, etc. Their partners who delivered in Spain were excellent as well, unwrapping and setting up furniture and removing the packing materials. Yaniv kept us apprised every step of the way, seamlessly handled logistics, and responded quickly to questions via email and phone. Moving internationally is not cheap and is always going to involve a certain amount of stress. That said, Sea & Air's price was among the lowest and they kept our stress at a manageable level. I have moved with Sea & Air from Ireland to New york on 07/2011 and everything was ok because they had a great agent in Ireland which is not their company, their company unloaded everything in NY and it was ok. on 02/11/2013 I moved back to Dublin Ireland and this time it was horrible, I have left a lot of items behind such as huge swing set, bedroom set and a patio set and they could not fit it on the truck, I called their office and asked them to unload it because I am going to use another carrier but they refused to do it they said it will cost me $9500 to unload it??? make no sense to me, I have agreed to keep it and they billed me for around $4000 extra, when it arrived in Ireland i was amazed to see that there was so much room on the truck and they could fit the remaining items very easy and the movers in Ireland have confirmed it. now that i am in Ireland I am missing some Items and they refuse to take any responsibility for anything, I also have some damaged items that i did not even bother to bring it to their attention because it's waste of time. I would never move with them again or recommend anyone to use them. there are better companies out there. read more

Yaniv and his team are first class from start to finish. Everything was completely seamless, from the first conversation, to the delivery of packing materials, to the move day. I was particularly amazed that Yaniv estimated the number of boxes I'd need almost down to the actual box! And I had a lot of moving parts on moving days from picking things up from storage to having to be out of my old place and into a new one before a certain time and his team worked so hard to make it all happen without one hitch. Everything was done with such care, literally NOTHING got broken, and I always expect something to break...and they even helped me decide best furniture placement. This is the most dishonest company that I have ever dealt with in my entire life. In my life I have moved from Rio de Janeiro to Paris and back, from Rio to Toronto and back and, recently, from NYC to Rio. I contact Sea & Air on September, 2018 for a quote to ship my things from NYC to Rio in October. I got an answer from Jon Smith, which is the most disgusting person I have ever interacted with, a liar, and he sent me a quote of US$1,845 + insurance. It was slightly cheaper than sending everything by plane but (i) because I would still have to find a place to live in Rio and (ii) given my (good) past experience sending things by sea I thought it would be a good idea to use this 8-10 weeks shipment. Because of my past experience, I asked Jon many times by email (attention: not once but many times) about any possible extra cost I might have and every time he guaranteed me that that was it: US$1,845 + insurance and no extra cost at all. On the day of scheduled for pick-up, two rude people showed up and took my stuff and from there it was one problem after the other. The first problem that shower up only after we had signed the contract and our things in their possession was that I would be forced to hire another company to which my things would sent in Rio and, obviously, pay a lot of many to have my things. I argued that Jon had never said anything about that before even though I had asked about it. He only mentioned this after the contract was signed. In many exchanged emails he simply said that there was nothing he could do. So I studied about international shipments and talked to my father, who is a lawyer, and answered back that what Sea & Air was doing was illegal and I would sue them . After that, Jon told me that "my situation" was analyzed by the owner of the company and that they would "open an exception for me". So, I said let's move on, I want to pay for the insurance. The answer from Jon is that, in my case, they could not offer insurance because they would not deliver my things to my home but only until the port. I shower him all his previous emails and quotes that had insurance included and asked him if he was crazy, besides dishonest. He answer that he had made a mistake and that he would talk to insurance company to open another exception form me... He did get the insurance company to give me quote that basically didn't cover anything. Even if they threw my boxes from the ship into the ocean I would not be able to claim anything given the amount of exceptions and "not covered items". The departure from NYC was delayed 3 times and the 5-8 weeks time to receive my thing is long gone and I still don't have them (today is 01/05/2019). But the worst was still to come. A few day ago I received a call from a woman named Isis Melo, from a company called Vanguard, which I had never heard of, saying that for me to be able to gat my things I would have to pay them additional US$500.00. I was obviously upset and explained to her that Sea & Air had guaranteed me that there would be no extra cost and that I had never heard of them. She went on too explain me step by step what was going on with my shipment and suddenly asked me how much I had payed ro Sea & Air. I told her US$1845,00 and she said "well, you see, they only payed us US$415.00 and we still have to pay for space in the ship" among other things. At this point, after a miscarriage and overwhelming stress I decided to just pay and get this over with but... this was not the end. I still have to pay another US$500.00 to another company to handle my things in the port of Rio and another US$500.00 to another company to deal with the bureaucracy. It didn't matter that I asked Jon in at least 4 different emails about extra cost (that he always said would not happen), I am now having to pay an additional US$1500.00 (almost as much as I payed to Sea & Air) to retrieve my things that are in their possession. These people are dishonest, liars, misleading. This company should be shut down and never allowed to rob people as did with me. I am preparing to sue them to get my money back but, in addition to that, I want to let as many people as possible know what they do to their customers so they will not fall into this trap that I have. Don't hire Sea & Air, they are little cheaper at first but in the end you will pay twice as much and you will go through a LOT of stress. Do yourself a favor and hire a serious company that treats its clients with respect and honesty. Sea and air is garbage. Specifically, don't accept any information or quotes from Jon Smith, who is incompetent and dishonest (other people answered my emails too, like Yaniv Risman and Julie Nagar but no one seemed interested in fixing the situation). read more

Do not use this company!!! If I could give zero stars I would. This company is a complete scam. They shipped my goods to Italy. Told me that they had provided me with all of the documents I would need to receive my goods, but they did not. I was told I would have my goods in 5-6 weeks. Well my goods did not leave the US until 5 weeks after my goods were picked up. Once my items finally arrived in Italy, I was given the run around from the Italian counterparts for 8 weeks. Things were stolen from my apartment by the packing crew that they sent, my furniture arrived damaged and I paid for packing and unpacking services but was told when my things arrived in England that unpacking was not included. When I called my International Relocation Consultant. He was rude and said there is nothing he can do. I will never use them again or recommend them to anyone. read more

Did quite a bit of research on different companies. There are a lot of fake reviews out there, so I thought I would add my own real one. Dealt with Adrian on our move from Manhattan to Cape Town in two lift vans (LCL). Very good communication and clear pricing structure, and helpful and fast responses to my questions. Their moving crew of three guys were very professional, worked hard, and did an excellent job. from our 3rd floor walkup Their partner in Cape Town (Stuttafords) also did a good job in delivering the goods. The only negative I would say was that the shipping took longer than expected (10-11 weeks)- apparently not uncommon if you are sharing a container. I think the shipment only left NY after three weeks or so after me moved. Also, the moving crew could have packed especially non-breakable kitchen items more effeciently (metal pots and pans couldve been placed inside one another with paper wrapping). As I was paying around $10 per cbft over the mimum required amount of 200cbft, i had to pay an extra $800 or so after the moving date. On the bright side no items were damaged on delivery. Sea & Air also gave me the best price among the companies I researched. I would definitely recommend Sea & Air! read more
