So this one is tough because they have been pretty good in the past but it is just not consistent anymore. A couple visits ago the food was pretty good...not amazing but pretty good. And the ambiance is very nice & comfy...Feels like an upscale 90's-era restaurant. The last few times we ate there though, the food was bland, texture was weird and ultimately it was just hard to swallow. If the food was more consistent we would probably go back every now and again but it just hasn't really been worth it lately. read more

While the food is incredible and the waitstaff (servers and busers) are kind and cheerful, the front of the house manager is incredibly rude. I went there on a first date with someone who happened to have a handicap. The manager made it sound like it was their fault, that they should have announced their handicap. She made me and my date extremely uncomfortable and it is for that reason I will not return. If she is fired then I may reconsider. read more

*Long Island Restaurant Week Review- Being that it was Restaurant Week and seeing the variety offered on Sea Basins Menu, I immediately put this place on my list. I was a bit apprehensive to come due to the poor reviews, but I ended up having a great meal. This is definitely more of a Locals Spot though. Located on the ever so busy 25A... plan to hit at least a little traffic when traveling out this way. The Parking Lot was Small with really tight, nearly impossible spaces. Free street parking also available. The Restaurant itself isn't in the greatest shape. It was outdated and downright dingy. With that being said, I did still have a great meal... but I usually enjoy updated more trendy places to eat. The Prices on the Regular Menu seem high, especially for the area. If your interested in coming, try it during restaurant week, the Price Fixe is perfect. The Service was quick & attentive. Each and every time my water glass was running low, someone immediately came to refill it. Our Waitress continuously came and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. The ticket times weren't crazy long which is also a plus. Also was able to make Reservations on Opentable! The Food was very tasty and exceeded my expectations. The Portions were HUGE! Spiro's & Sea Basin have the same owners, I personally liked Sea Basins food more. They offer most of the same items but I thought the cook at Sea Basin did a much better job of executing the dishes. I will be reviewing what I tried: -Complimentary Garlic Bread: Delicious and was able to get a second basket...score! -Caesar Salad *Restaurant Week App: Fresh lettuce, tasty dressing, and croutons. A very basic but flavor dish. The portion was definitely more than I was expecting... in a good way. 3.5 out of 5 stars -Grilled Eggplant & Shrimp *RW App: Portion of 2 Large Shrimp and a few pieces of eggplant underneath. I wasn't sure what to expect but what I received was shrimp cooked perfectly, nicely done eggplant, baked in an outstanding garlic sauce that was still bubbling when it arrived to the table. I would definitely get this again. 5 out of 5 stars -Lamb Chops *RW Entree +$7 Add On: I'm a sucker for Lamb Chops... Sea Basin did them right! I got this exact dish at Spiro's and it didn't even come close the the Sea Basins Version. Portion size of 7 Chops served with Mint Jelly & Mashed Potatoes. The potatoes weren't anything special but the lamb was tender and well seasoned. I would get this again. 4.5 out of 5 stars -20oz New York Strip Steak *RW Entree: Cooked exactly as requested. Had a nice char on the outside, incredibly juicy in the middle. Served with the basic mashed potatoes but the gravy made it better. 4.5 out of 5 stars -Chocolate Mousse *RW Dessert: Boring, Bland, Blah and served with store bought whipped cream... boo. My advice, skip it. 0 out of 5 stars -Cannoli *RW Dessert: Portion of 2 smaller than usual Cannoli's which were filled to the max! I thought the filling had a unique taste, not like the cannoli's I'm normally used to but I did enjoy it. The shells were crunchy & heightened the fillings flavor. 5 out of 5 stars Overall I'm happy I decided to try out this local hangout in the heart of Rocky Point. This is a dated restaurant that needs some TLC but the food didn't fall short for me. Went to the Sea basin for their lunch happy hour. Food was a very good. service was Excellent however I ordered an IPA when the check came. It was $10 at happy hour. I asked the waitress how much is IPA at regular time and she said $15. I think this is ridiculous. Why don't restaurants advertise the price of the beer? We made a reservation through Open Table. Very easy, also changing our reservation to make an earlier arrival time was smooth. The ambiance was very lovely. Fun, family friendly & still semi-casual. Our dinners were delicious. I had the shrimp fra diavlo. Perfect amount of spice and the linguine tasted fresh (and not mush), and the shrimp were perfectly portioned. Our family (5 total, 4 adults, 1 child) enjoyed the following: Salmon over crab cake, Shrimp parmigiana, and veal (something I cannot pronounce). All rave reviews. Sadly, I do not recommend their calamari for two appetizer. The portion was much larger than expected, but tasted as though it came from frozen. The breading was bland and the calamari was definitely over cooked (hard/chewy). Our baked clam appetizer (4 medium sized clams) were also, disappointingly bland. Overall I would recommend the entrees over and over. Portions were great. Staff was friendly and attentive. Would definitely go again. (If ordering wine or cocktails, be expected to pay in the $$$ range for your total bill. We may skip the appetizers next time and try out some dessert instead). read more

To start the food is not good. It has no flavor and is poorly prepared. It is way overpriced for what you get. I ordered chicken francese. It was about $30 and it just had two little pieces of chicken. They don't even give you a side or a vegetable or anything. We haven't been here in years. We have moved out of state. This place is excellent as I remembered it. We had great service. Our drinks came out a few minutes after we ordered them. The appetizers came out very quickly they were hot and tasted great. The main course came out quickly as well. Again everything was delicious. The waitress came by a few times just to check on us. Went to this restaurant last night and couldn't be more disappointed. Food was terrible and waitress Eileen was worse . The bus boy was at our table more than her . She basically dropped off food after we sat waiting for it and when it arrived my dish of stuffed lobster was worse than any I've ever had . The meet in the lobster was of super soft consistency which I'm sure as a cook you wouldn't know that but waitress never came back to the table to find out . After sitting for 15 min after my husband finished eating he got up and spoke with the woman that sat us and she took my meal off the bill . Waitress Eileen walked quickly by and placed bill on the table with not a word even after the woman that sat us spoke to her about us being dissatisfied. I understand the meal could have been unknowingly a bad lobster but the service was the worst. We will never go back again . This is a similar experience we had a while ago but did go back in between with no issues. Just not consistently good and this experience is our last . One of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. Food is mostly late, the quality is subpar, the food is tasteless, the fish doesn't taste super fresh, almost as if it's a day old. I've been to Sea Basin a number of times through the years and have mostly been satisfied. Reading through other Yelp reviews it seems Saturday's May be the problem? We had reservations for a party of 10 this Saturday night. We were celebrating my BFFs birthday. The complimentary garlic bread was warm but uncooked on the inside. Appetizers of mozzarella sticks were good. The fried calamari was over cooked and had a dense breading instead of a light, crisp dusting of flour before frying. Clams on the half shell were just ok. Drinks came slowly. Very slowly. Our waitress may have been inexperienced. She was not sure who ordered what drink and we needed to sort it out ourselves. Water glasses were not refilled. I ordered the seafood special; stuffed flounder, stuffed clams, stuffed shrimp, Bay scallops. The scallops were placed in clam shells and baked. No seasoning. Erasers would probably tasted better. The stuffed clams, flounder and shrimp were mostly bread. The mashed potatoes were fake. They should have paid me the $25 to eat this entree. Three others who ordered the same felt the same way. They had pasta on the side that came with NOTHING on the pasta. The waitress seemed confused that the marinara asked for was an option. Two in our party did not have their order input. One didn't get the stuffed shrimp that was supposed to come with the surf and turf. Swordfish of another was dry. Veal Cordon Bleu special was mediocre; the sauce tasteless. Should I continue or do you get the picture? The birthday girl was very happy with her steamed King crab legs. The dining area is cramped. Our table was awkwardly configured, perhaps explaining why the waitress forgot to put in the order of the two hanging off the end. I believe she thought they were on their own. And, don't look up at the ceiling. It is disgusting. Dirty. My review may seem brutal but for the kind of money my BFFs daughters had to pay (maybe $400-500) the meal and service was terrible. read more

We hadn't been here in years. They redid the bar and the menu at the bar is basically the same as Spiros. Our bartender here was the same as it was as Spiros. Elias is awesome and completely remembered our drink orders from last week. Ashley was also GREAT! To the owners!!!! The bathrooms are beyond hot! You need to do something about this. It is EXTREMELY uncomfortable and the fact that the staff knows this is not great. I don't want to sweat my butt off when I go to relieve myself. Put in an exhaust fan or a window. Or run an AC DUCT INTO THE BATHROOMS!! It is totally awful!! You spent money to redo the bar, how about not having a bathroom where the clientele feels like they are going to pass out? Came in yesterday for dinner and I have to say the food was really good but the service from our waiter Michael was even better. We eat out a lot and haven't received this type of service in a very long time. Especially since everything with COVID. I think a lot of people forgot how to be personable. I asked the waitress if they were always this big and she told me that they must have run out of the little necks and that is why they were big. Really! With that being said, waited for a coke for over 25 min, by that time dinner was over. The rest of the meal was ok, but nothing to write home about. I informed the host on my way out and was asked if we would give them another try. To be honest, after spending close to 100 and between the clams, waiting for drink (which was served with the check) being served HUGE clam (which should have been comped) and overall unpleasant experience I will not be back. I try and support local businesses, but we work hard for money and there was no efforts to make it right? Sure, I'll be back! Fave spot! Best happy hour on Long Island. Not many places you can find a martini for $6 now a days. Seafood is always so fresh. Their oysters Rockefeller is out of this world and the seared tuna- a must. And just to top it off- they have blue cheese olives for their dirty martinis 5 stars all around. I think it's been over a decade since the last time I ate at the Sea Basin. After last night, I know that I will be back again very soon! We were greeted by the hostess Kristen in front. She was warm and welcoming and promptly lead us to a nice table in the back. Having just walked out of another place that was noisy and cold, this was such a needed break. I don't think that the decor has changed much , if at all, but I still find the warm wood walls and old light fixtures charming. Lisa, the manager, who was working the bar, made me a delicious margarita. I was a happy camper. My husband had a Sauvignon Blanc accompanied by some delicious, freshly baked bread. He ordered a fillet mignon, perfectly cooked, with a cup of delicious lobster bisque.. I ordered a special off the menu which was delicious. I'm always happy to find Sea Bass or Snapper . Last night, the Sea Bass was wonderful and a kind of lemon piccata sauce, I asked for artichokes instead of sea scallops which they accommodated me with along with a delicious Greek salad. Melanie, our server was so sweet and helpful in suggesting things off of the menu that would appeal to me ( I'm a bit picky). The service was excellent. We didn't feel rushed, nor did we feel neglected. We will definitely be back again very soon! read more

Lovely place that my boyfriend took me to. Everyone was super nice and you can tell it had that home town feel. Believe it or not the steak was the best thing we ate, followed by the bacon wrapped scallops, though we did enjoy the rest of the seafood and you cannot beat the prices. My boyfriend ordered some stuffed seafood and he said that he thought that the stuffing was the same for everything even the stuffed mushrooms he ordered as an appetizer, not that it wasn't good but wondered if that is what they just stuffed everything with! For me, I would just suggest that they offer some gluten free options, maybe a pasta as the pasta with seafood dish looked amazing or offer it over a rice.... read more

Regarding service, our waiter was taking forever to come back to the table multiple times. It was quite frustrating.... no where to be found and it wasn't even that busy.
