Sea Crab is a neat seafood boil restaurant with a lot of interior space and a great local ambiance. Seems like they have sushi as well. We were served by Brandon who was friendly and always made sure our waters were filled. We ordered the crab catch signature bucket which came with 4 half-crab clusters (all snow crab), 1lb of shrimp, two corns, several potatoes, and a lot of sausages. Pretty epic proportions for two of us. Needless to say, it was quite the messy meal, but stocked with great flavors. The seafood was meaty and tasted pretty fresh. Didn't have a great experience overall recently and won't be rushing back. I checked the website before visiting and found that Sea Crab has happy hour all night on Mondays. However when I arrived and asked the bartender, he said happy hour had ended at 7pm. Disappointing and hope they update their website. I ordered a couple of small plates. The salt & pepper calamari consisted of big, rubbery pieces. It was edible but not great. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there -- and most of the issues seemed to stem from management rather than the staff themselves. Food Availability: On a Friday evening at the Jersey Shore in summer, the restaurant was already out of a surprising number of items and ingredients, which took several main options off the table. It became a running joke among our group for the rest of the night. This falls squarely on whoever handles ordering and inventory -- running out of that much on a peak summer weekend is poor planning. The Food: To their credit, the food itself was solid. The clam and oyster starters were well prepared, though our table was cleared a bit prematurely -- about six clams and oysters were taken away while a few of us had stepped away, without anyone checking if we were finished. The main courses took a while, but I didn't mind since everything came out hot. I had the Fisherman's Feast -- a generous portion that was well worth the $188 price tag. Service: This is where things got rough. Our waitress was visibly overwhelmed, which again points to a staffing issue on management's part. At one point I asked for a fresh Sprite since mine was flat (possibly a CO2 issue), and she said she didn't have time to check and would just comp it instead. Not the ideal response, but I didn't want to make a scene -- I could tell she was slammed, so I let it go and finished my water instead. An 18% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. In hindsight, it felt slightly generous given the experience, but we didn't push back. By the end, even small requests felt like a burden to fulfill, so we wrapped up and headed out. On a lighter note, there's karaoke at 8pm on Fridays, which made for a fun close to the evening once the bill was settled. I walked into the Sea Crab on a sunny Tuesday to experience a poorly lit warm bar. It was about 80 degrees and like 9 people in the restaurant at 5 o'clock in early August. Where is everyone? I saw online on their website they had a large happy hour and when I asked at the bar they said, " oh yeah we're not doing that". So what they were advertising online was false. There was a tv in the wall displaying their specials for the week and I see a taco Tuesday special. There was no signage on the bar or the menu advertising the specials. So if you didn't watch this tv you would not know. They do have a large stage but they suck at advertising. According to their instagram they post about once a month. The place was infested with gnats and staff was swinging around an electrified bug zapper where food and drinks were being served. Crab dishes were fishy, bread almost chipped my tooth. Came here this past Saturday night with my brother and sister-in-law to celebrate my birthday. My brother said it was a "home run", I agree. My sister-in-law got the salmon poke bowl, my brother and I had the broiled seafood platter. We got so much seafood, it was enough for two people to share. It had a generous cut of salmon, several shrimp, mussels, three stuffed clams. Came with delicious grilled broccoli and roasted potatoes. We also shared the grilled edamame appetizer which we got because we read the great reviewed. They were out of this world. My brother also got a half-dozen oysters, which he enjoyed. My boyfriend and I had a delicious dinner here while we were in town! He is a big seafood boil fan and I am not as big of a seafood fan as he is, so it's great that Sea Crab offers plenty of non-seafood options. We split the Bao Tacos and Wagyu Sliders, which were delicious. The timing of the seafood boil coming out gave us plenty of time to enjoy the tacos and sliders. Our server was really helpful in planning our "Create Your Own Bucket" - which was great! We ordered black mussels. It was my first time trying them and I was a fan. Sea Crab is spacious with some fun signs and decor. It smells delicious too. We came on a Friday night and they were having karaoke. If you are like my family we love checking menus prior to going to see what we plan on eating. Well that didn't work out so good at Sea Crab as they've since changed menus but never updated their online menu. No: - wedge salad - short rib burger - whisky burger 3 types of steaks were sold out 7pm on a Saturday, weird. They were out of gloves for the crabs, not a big deal. Service was good, Diego did a good job. I had shrimp cocktail for an app although they gave hardly any sauce, not a big deal, Diego hooked it up Wife had clam chowder she said on the watery side but tasty. Mom had crab cake which she loved. Nick had a chicken sandwich with fries, he said it was good. Fries were really good. Me and my daughter shared a shrimp boil. Shrimp, mussels, sausage, crab legs and potatoes with garlic butter. All was good and tasty although the last time there our portion was larger. The best edamame that I've had where they were "oily roasted". The Waygu burgers were excellent. A surprisingly nice venue in a strip mall In Neptune City where Asbury Park and Ocean Grove meet. Forgot to bring our drinks 20 mins later when i finally caught his attention he apologized and brought them, which was nice & i thought it would end there. WELL NO. Another 20 minutes pass and he's checking on everyone except us, not once updated us on the food, neither did he ask how was everything until he saw me looking at him & then i just asked for the check and refill because i knew damn well he wouldn't come back. Unfortunately, the experience became extremely uncomfortable due to an aggressive and hostile staff interaction that unfolded in front of customers, including one staff member slamming items on the bar right in front of us, along with repeated insults and cursing. We ordered clam chowder soup, asian zing wings, calamari, oyster, and seafood boil. They also have a full bar and they do karaoke nights. They need to fix ladies bathroom the lights were flickering. We ate at Sea Crab early last evening. We arrived at 510 pm when Happy Hour was in progress (until 6 pm). This was bad because the place was quite noisy, even though we sat as far as possible from the bar (and the bar was only half full). On the other hand, it was good timing: Happy Hour meant we could get glasses of wine at discount and we got two tasty fish tacos as an appetizer for only $8. Service by Jose was attentive and friendly. For entrees, we both ordered The Boil with Large Shrimp ($21.95 each) one with medium Old Bay sauce and the other with hot Louisiana sauce. Both were delicious and generous portions - about 24 large shrimp each. This was our first time at Sea Crab. We will be back. Perhaps next time we will get one boil and then mix catches, like shrimp and crawfish and also add some corn and potatoes to the boil. read more

Alright so figured I would take my chance at this instead of hitting up one of the usual popular "safe" options in asbury. Big mistake. Prices are semi-reasonable for what you get and the bathrooms are very clean as well as the dinning room. Those are really the only good things I have to say. 3.5 star average and when we got there it was empty. So with an open mind and empty stomach I decided to have an unbiased experience. I didn't even read any of the complaints so I was curious to see what's up here. Waiter came pretty quick, young kid, very nice, didn't use a paper to take our order so it was bound to be messed up. To my surprise, wrong drink was brought out no biggie. Food actually came out reasonably quick. Nothing special at all about the menu. This place has all the symptoms of a dying restaurant. To be honest we couldn't quite put a finger on it but there is just something dry and sad about this place. There's no vibe at all. They seem to go for a fancy approach but have a casual menu. Everyone there was in a bathing suit and flip flops, you're in a strip mall, I think they should change to feed into the casual crowd. As for the quality of the food. The wings were smothered, let me say that again SMOTHERED in their mid tier BBQ sauce. We decided to get a mix of the different seafood to try and honestly the quality was good but the sauce destroyed any enjoyment. The sauce was terrible. We ordered two different types, one with their Cajun butter and one with old bay. The old bay was old bay can't complain. The Cajun butter was garbage. And again, SMOTHERED. It ruined the dish. To be honest I don't know whether to give 2 or 3 stars because they do exactly what they market: a higher quality seafood dinning experience but not super fancy. However it doesn't match up. I love a good seafood boil! I was sharing the seafood boil with a friend. We created our own seafood boil but got the inspiration from the Jersey Catch boil. We did a pound of shrimp, 2 snow crab clusters, added extra corn, added ramen noodles and hard boiled eggs. It was very good. We got the cajun sauce at medium spice level. I've definitely had better sauces before but this was still good. Our server Gary was very very nice. The whole concept of the place was really cool. When you walk in to the right is a liquor store, straight ahead is the bar, to the left is a karaoke stage and a bunch of tables. Interesting concept at the old clancys in Neptune. Plenty of parking in the lot out front. Service was great but the food just misses the mark. The margarita was made from a cheap tasting mix. The soft shell crab was okay but over fried. The lobster roll tasted over cooked and not fresh at all. The fries are good though. After eating one leg I looked deeper into the bag and found out that none of the other crabs were cooked, we than returned to the store and the person at the front took our bag to the bag, than another person returned to the front and said one of the whole bags were almost finished, mind you I cracked open 1 leg and my girlfriend ate maybe 2 of her before finding out hers was pieces dark black and some under cooked, but we told them we don't need refunds we just want good food that we can eat because we came multiple times, she came out later about 15 min and said she gave us 1 extra cluster but while writing this I didn't even look in the bag because the store is closing so it won't matter if she really did or not. This restaurant had the freshest seafood, from the calamari to the crab legs, it was amazing. We started with the fried calamari and coconut shrimp. Both were perfectly fried with a delicious crispy and seasoned crunch. We ordered a seafood boil which was scrumptious, fresh, well seasoned, and yummy. The old bay seasoning mixed with butter was delightful. We also ordered fried catfish and fried shrimp both tasty and heavenly. The food was exquisite. Since there's one seafood boil in the area, then I would probably consider coming back again. My niece ordered the platter with wings, fried fish, and fried shrimp which was so good. I have so many wild and free-flowing thoughts about the Sea Crab. We took a long trek down to mid New Jersey for Mother's day. This was the destination of choice. Which worked out great with only having to walk over and not drive. Happy hour unfortunately on weekends ends promptly around 4pm. So we just narrowly missed that window. Although drinks weren't outrageously priced and was still able to get a beer for $7. They do local live music shows. The food is a little bit pricey but that's expected with most seafood and again I think you get the most bang for your buck during happy hour. What gets me is all of the tacky neon signs. I came back from the bathroom and loudly exclaimed "There's a sign that says 'I got Crabs in New Jersey!' and my boyfriend wanted to die. But this place is a mix of trying to be tacky and fun and serve quality food. I think. I ended up going with a cup of clam chowder and the fried shrimp po boy. Portion size was insanely huge. I ended up donating many old bay seasoned fries over. I really liked the calamari appetizer. The clam chowder (which I don't normally ever order) was some of the best I've ever had but that's not a high bar to beat if the main competition is Progresso. The sandwich was okay. It was a bit of a mess. It was impossible to eat as a sandwich because the bread really couldn't fold over and contain the shrimp. I had to cut through that sucker. The breading on the shrimp was a little flimsy and flying off. But again, it was an okay rendition. I was wondering if I made the wrong choice mid-way through and if I should have just gotten the crab mac and cheese. My boyfriend got the fried chicken sandwich and he said the calamari was better so I think he felt the same way on ordering the wrong thing. And then everyone else got salads I believe. They also oddly have a full sushi station and make poke bowls. The sushi probably should definitely be explored. It was pretty difficult to narrow down a final decision on what to get. All in all, it's not bad and they have an adjacent liquor and beer store attached inside the restaurant, which I haven't seen something like this in a long time and is a complete novelty for me. Service could use an upgrade. I don't think the tables were cleaned down and we never received water once while dining. Our first time here - We were a bit disappointed in this liquor store/bar/restaurant - weird vibe. Our waitperson was nice, and the food was just OK. I ordered a steak and added a 17 dollar lobster tail. The lobster was - believe it or not - mushy and terribly textured - I could not eat it. I pointed it out to our waitress, who said she would tell the manager. She returned with the check and said she mentioned it, but there was no other apology and the tail was still on the bill. My wife's stuffed lobster was good, with shrimp, crabmeat stuffing, and pasta. Also - and this is a big issue for me - it is apparently this restaurant's policy to automatically add 15% tip to the bill, so it is in the total when the check is presented. The tip should be up to me to decide. Frankly, I usually tip more but left it at 15% as I considered this an inappropriate move on the restaurant's part. Another interesting thing is that we had a hard time finding a reservation, so had to make one for 4:30 PM on a Sunday, but when we got there the place was empty, so not sure what that was all about. Apparently the place has live music, and our dinner was interrupted with sounds of the band setting up, with startling bursts of feedback. Maybe we didn't;lt know what to expect, but we probably won't be back. Overall our bill came to almost $200 with two cocktails, two glasses of wine, 2 appetizers and two entrees. I don't like to leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had lately. Inexperienced waiter, noisy restaurant, bad food. I got the clam boil, clams were tough and overcooked, potatoes were undercooked, and I ordered just butter and garlic. It came with some sort of a reddish sauce with various spices in it I sent it back and the manager said that's the way we make our butter and garlic sauce, she did replace with coconut shrimp, which were good. We asked for the martini to be remade and we over heard the bartender says "I have to make a fckn espresso martini" that one was even worse. Ordered shrimp n snow crab legs, they were so over cooked the shells on the crab legs were soft. I never had crab meat that tasted like mush. The 2 guys behind the bar were giving shitty service to everyone. We watched. They fcked up someone else's espresso martini too. They remade it twice to no avail as well. You had to flag them down for anything. And i get it during bingo it appeared to be busy. However we remained there after the bingo crowd left. There were barely no customer and these two bartenders were running into each other, messing up shit. It was wild to watch.
