I attended this place for a work event. The rooftop was a little tight with the amount of people that were there, but it had great views on each side. The service throughout the night was appreciated, specifically at the bar. I will give my thoughts on each food item tried below. Lomi-Lomi Salmon - This raw dish was tasty. There was solid flavor and tiny pieces of salmon had a melt in the mouth like texture. Kalua Pork - This was very tender with a good amount of seasoning. Sweet Potatoes - I believe these were purple. They were good with having a soft texture too. Mixed Green Salad with Papaya Seed Dressing - This was light and a nice compliment to the other dishes. Macaroni Salad - Again, this was light with tons of flavor. Huli Huli Chicken - These were small chicken wings with lots of meat. They had a slightly sweet flavor to them and were very tender too. I brought my good friend to visit AP from out of town and knew this would be a nice spot to wrap up the night. It didn't disappoint. Just a block away from where we were already having dinner on the boardwalk... extremely convenient. On street parking can be found. Entrance was easy and friendly. Elevator to the rooftop and you're immediately impressed by the layout and beautiful views. We found that service at the bar was quick and easy. Didn't order any cocktails, just prosecco and wine, so can't really review those. Music was decent enough and if you move to the far end of the rooftop past the bathrooms, you can even have a nice conversation without screaming. Salvation is serenity in the chaos that is Asbury on a Saturday afternoon. Up here in the sky with great cocktails (I got the Cloud Chaser), beautiful views, and good music, you feel miles removed from the activity below. My wife got the Nichibotsu and we both loved the drinks and would order again. We got two appetizers. Wagyu hot dog and summer rolls. Both of them were ok, not special but not bad either. Located at the Asbury Hotel, this rooftop bar offers absolutely beautiful views. The bar is open to the public. It's quite spacious and modern. I enjoyed the upbeat music that was playing. We had a 5:30 pm reservation to celebrate my friend's engagement. We were a bit early and they alerted us that due to a short rain spritz they would be slightly delayed. They then proceeded to have us wait for 30 minutes while they sent a wedding party up and were unable to provide us with any type of update. Finally this year I got to come to this place. I tried so many times last summer .. but it seemed to be closed whenever I came. I would definitely recommend finding out if it's open before you go. I think Monday's - they are closed for sure. And I believe it's open seasonally So this Hotel used to be the old Salvation Army building so I assume they named the bar as in ode to that... Anyway... moving on... Salvation is located on the top of The Asbury Hotel... this is a super cool hipster kinda hotel. You would enter thru the door left of the entrance of the hotel. Security checks ur ID and then you take elevator to the top. The bar and dining area is modern ... and has some great views of Asbury Park ... it's a great place to watch the sunset for sure!!! Drink menu is small... $12 /cocktail. I tried two kinds - the Asbury PainKiller which had an eggnog taste to it and then the Boardwalk Sunset which is kinda like a mojito. The worst dirty martini I ever had in my life. Handed to me in a small plastic cup. No olive. The bartender had no idea how to make drinks. For this venue, it's shocking how basic the drinks are. Was there Saturday night, it smelled moldy and like old vomit. Our bartender, well for a more upscale type bar she was white rude and not very happy to serve paying Custer. Salvation has one thing going for it: the views. They are stunning at sunset and provide an almost 360 degree view of the area. Unfortunately the cocktails are weak, expensive, and not worth ordering. My advice is to get a reservation, enjoy the view, and get a beer instead. read more

Oh how I love Salvation. Good drinks, good music, beautiful views. The sunset views are amazing. There's a mixture of people dressed casually or decked out, so don't stress about dress code. It has an NYC rooftop vibe, but it is still in a beach area, so no strict dress code. If you have bags, you can't bring them up, however. You'll have to check them at the lobby. Definitely recommend. The Salvation Rooftop Bar, wonderful place when you need to unwind! It sits on the top floor of the Asbury Hotel; to get in is easy before 9pm or on weeknights but on weekends after 9 it is a mob! Be ready to stand on an extensive line! The entrance is located on the left side of the hotel's doors; there is always somebody standing to let you in and an attendant at the elevator which will ask you for floor number since this is also the way into the Baronet on the 6th floor! Another amazing space at this hotel! Most of us go all the way to the top!! Once the elevator doors open you find yourself in an elegant, modern setting with comfortable chairs, couches and lounge chairs throughout. The décor is enhanced by subtle candlelight and lighting and tropical plants. Some of the furniture is strategically placed to provide privacy for a group while others offer the right setting for couples. The bar located immediately left of the elevator ends by where the DJ or live musician usually plays. A little further to the left there is a section which is very popular for private parties or events but that anyone can utilized when it is not cordoned off. If you go straight to the end of the rooftop you can find additional lounge beds and tall bar tables. The atmosphere is usually serene and upscale on weeknights or before 9pm on weekends. It is like an oasis offering spectacular views of the Asbury boardwalk and Atlantic! Due to its location, the dress code before 9pm is casual but dress policy is strictly enforced after 9pm! My husband and I have enjoyed it at various time during the summer months. The drink menu is not extensive, offering mix drinks, beer, and wine for a reasonable price. I had went to salvation with a group of people last night and the ambiance and the views were the only redeeming qualities this bar had to warrant a second star. I had ordered my wife a Malibu and coke and instead of saying they didn't have Malibu the bartender made it with Bacardi. Then said it's $20 as she was handing it to me. I replied "what?" She said I mean $10. Ok, so I brushed that off until the same thing happened to my wife 20 minutes later. She went to the same bartender and the bartender tried charging her $20 for the drink. Luckily we had a free drink coupon otherwise I would have lost my mind had my wife told me she just paid $20 for a drink. The bar decor and views are gorgeous, but if you can't back it up with stellar cocktails you lose me. That is the problem with this place. They are completely full of themselves and act as if you are lucky to simply be there. The bouncers are extremely rude and on a power trip. We were at an expensive reception in the hall space so we came through the inside of the hotel. They acted like we were trying to break in instead of just politely explaining how their "system" worked. Yelled at us to go get in line on the sidewalk because they only let you up on one little elevator. Just let me use the steps that are right there. The bartenders are not good and the drinks are way overpriced. Now the view it's obstructed by the larger hotel in front of it. I will never go back to this place. read more

The Salvation is a rooftop bar on the top of the Asbury Hotel. There was a Jazz Trio performing which is why I went. The entrance is manned by an attendant who let me up to the 8th floor in the elevator. The atmosphere and decor is modern, casual and comfortable with a variety of seating including couches, lounge chairs and high chairs at tables. The views of Asbury Park and the beach are scenic. The entertainment was excellent and added to the relaxing vibe. It was a mixed crowd of younger and older people, some were well dressed and others with beach cover ups. The disappointment was the service, food and drink. While I was ordering my drink, another customer came up and interrupted asking for a place to charge her phone, and the bar tender took care of her needs first. I tried a "painkiller" which tasted like a waterery pina colada. There was a limited food menu and this night, I was told only the pizza was available. The other bar tender was having her photo taken multiple times by what appeared to be someone she knew. This place has the potential to be amazing, however they need to train the staff to be more professional and how to make proper drinks. Instead of asking us what we wanted to drink, she saw a couple of people she knew at the end of the bar and chatted with them for a while. Meanwhile, I was sitting there waiting to order and trying to get her attention. She walks back and forth making drinks for other people who ordered before us, which I can understand, but then after she made the drinks, she stood at the end of the bar where she continued to chat with her friends. Have been sitting there for 10 minutes now and my bf is ready to order another beer, but this bartender doesn't seem to notice that there are no drinks in front of us. After waiting for this long just to get a drink, we left. Another couple took our seats, and this same female bartender went up to them right away to ask them what they wanted to drink! I like Salvation for the drinks and the view. I had recently gone with some friends who had never been there before today. The male bartender seemed frustrated for pouring 3 cups of water for guests who later did not take them. Like, he was strangely, overly ticked off. Then, when it came time for us to order, I literally got cut off by another bar patron who continued to place their order before me. They claimed that they were there before me which, whether it was true or not, is just plain rude. I mean, who does this in a public setting? In all of my years of going to bars, I have never gotten interrupted while ordering a drink at the bar. The female bartender's response was "sorry...it makes things awkward for us too." The place attracts a pretentious crowd and makes it not fun to visit.
