Been going to Dube's for 60 years. Had my first bad meal there last night. It was obvious to me that the oil used to fry my seafood had not been changed for a while . Their fried food is usually golden in color. Last night it was dark and in some spots black. Very disappointing. read more

My husband and I sat at the bar Saturday night, and Tawna waited on us. She was so nice and efficient, and made Michael a Cosmo. For me, she made one of their special holiday drinks called "A Partridge in a Pear Tree," which had Absolute pear vodka and Prosecco in it. We shared a side of their famous onion rings and baked scallops casserole, topped with Ritz crackers, for dinner. It was delicious and plentiful. It came with two sides, so we had their fresh broccoli and wedge salad (iceberg lettuce & tomatoes), which Tawna brought out before the entree, which was great! This quaint neighborhood bar/restaurant, which has been around since 1961, was also festively decorated. They hung garland and lights from their ceiling, which looked awesome. read more

I went on a Friday afternoon during April. It was my first time and our order was take out. It was not too crazy there. We got the fried seafood combo. The food looked like the cooking oil was not changed. The fried food was rough on my stomach. I did not throw up. I felt the effects of the oil for a couple days. I did eat crazy amounts of food. The value of the food was not worth it. I did not feel like driving 10 or 15 minutes to complain. I wanted to try a new place because the quality of Land and Sea dropped. read more

Visiting Salem with my mother, we were on the hunt for fresh seafood. Dube's is the definition of hole-in-the-wall: if you didn't know where it was, you would drive right past, as it looks like just a regular house in a residential neighborhood. Inside there is a full bar and plenty of booths. For a weekday around noon it was pretty busy. Our waitress was friendly and helped point out things on the menu. We got a large order onion rings which turned out to be a MASSIVE portion for only $11. We also ordered the fried oyster po'boy and a side order of fried haddock. The po'boy was packed with more shredded lettuce and tomatoes than I have ever seen on a sandwich before. The roll was absolutely overflowing with perfectly crispy fried oysters. The fried haddock was so flaky and tender, and their homemade tartar sauce was outstanding. For the price we got a massive amount of seafood, definitely enough to take home. Dube's is the real deal seafood and I know I will be back again soon. read more

We had to make last minute changes to our dinner plans and came here as the next option. It was a Wednesday afternoon so it was decently full on the inside. There is a cute canopy in the back for outdoor seating as well. For entrees, we had their baked haddock which can come with French fries, baked potato, or mashed potatoes and ratatouille or steamed vegetables. They had turkey clubs, and hamburgers so my friend requested for a cheeseburger club which they happily obliged. I opted for their seafood stew which came with salad and rice after much conflict between that or their stuffed shrimp. Everyone loved their choices as everything was well seasoned. I liked how the rice had pieces of carrots and must have been cooked with chicken broth. Baked haddock must have been made with a stick of butter as well as their mashed potatoes which I found almost gummy in texture, not my preferred. French fries were decent but the ratatouille vegetables were fantastic. French onion soup came out with the freshly torched cheese on top and was good enough to finish every drop. Overall, great experience. Our waitress was nice and personable checking in on us regular. I would definitely come back again and see why it's been a classic for so long. read more

Went here a couple weeks ago. It's a small place, but food service and drinks were all wonderful. We had about a 10 minute wait for a table. We were seated and a waitress came over a few minutes later to get our brink order. Started with the vanilla bean martini. It was delicious dessert in a glass. My husband got the clam chowder it was a bit on the thin side, but he enjoyed it every spoonful had tons of clams. I got the seafood bisque loaded with perfect cooked seafood. We shared the 3 way platter, perfect for 2 people. Golden fried not greasy. Coleslaw wasn't good way too vinegary. I wish I read the menu a little closer because the platter just came with fries I would have order a side of onion rings, because the table next to us got them and the looked delicious. Second cocktail was the Rock Candy Cocktail very good. It's a now frills place, but would definitely go back. read more

I cannot sing this place's praises enough: food quality, portion size, variety, value, unpretentious atmosphere, AND THE MOST AMAZING AND FRIENDLY WAITSTAFF. My only regret about my stop today is that I didn't get the name of the waitress. She was phenomenal - super knowledgeable, accommodating, genuinely friendly, and a Salem/Beverly ambassador that made our (me and my friends from Spain) visit especially memorable. I heard someone in line at Dicks Sporting Goods boasting of Dube's. I tried it. I like the old school ambiance. The onion rings are the best I've had in some time, and they're not over-salted. I've been going here since I was a little girl and they have by far the best fried clams and seafood around. The onion rings are also to die for as is their French onion soup. Honestly, it's one of the best French onions I've had in my life. The drinks are strong and tasty. It's the perfect place to stop with family or friends for a low key delicious dinner. What a great find! We were looking for a place for clams on a Friday evening. We have covered most of the North Shore (Essex, Gloucester, Ipswich to name a few) so we were looking for something different. A friend of mine recommended Dube's! We almost drove past it because it is your classic "neighborhood" spot...looks like a house that is part of the neighborhood. We timed it right and the wait was minimal. We got seated and the food was in front of us in no time! We had the clam boat, haddock sandwich, hamburger and an appetizer of onion rings! All four were fantastic! Service was great. We loved the covid-safe little paper bag full of salt, pepper and ketchup! What a great idea! Very reasonably priced for the amount of food that was served! We will be back. Great local spot. Definitely off of the beaten path. A true mom and pop operation with extremely fresh seafood. Stumbled upon this place via a Facebook dining group post and stopped in for an early dinner. Got the feeling that most folks were regulars based on the conversations between parties and waitstaff. Great no nonsense local seafood at a reasonable price. It was exactly what we were looking for and couldn't have been happier. There are comments about the Cole slaw being a bit different but we really enjoyed it. It was more of a vinegar based dressing rather than the traditional mayo version. Even if that isn't up to your liking the piping hot fried clams (whole belly), shrimp, and scallops were beyond superior. Add in an old school bar with what I thought were very reasonable prices and putts and you definitely have a place that warrants stopping by when you're in the area. read more

Let me start off by saying how safe and clean my dining experience was. I work in extremely clean research labs and their aseptic techniques made me proud! The tables and chairs where whipped down TWICE by cleaners and also alcohols whips which was excellent. All food condiments were preped for personal use, menu was tossed after single use! Tucked away on a side street Dube's can be hard to find, but worth the search-there's a parking lot on the side of the building. This is a classic Salem seafood restaurant that's been around since 1961 and was a bar room before it became a restaurant. The wait staff has been working here for years...Say hi to Tawnya, she's been working here since 7th grade! We started with the famous onion rings and the four of us finished a large order in record time! The fish and clam chowders were both delicious with a classic thin broth. Fried clams are from Ipswich and worth the side order, they come with mayo-less coleslaw and tarter. If you like ratatouille, have it as one of your sides...it's thick and delicious. read more

Best French Onion soup EVER (tasted like they added cheddar cheese soup to the mix) and I did my best to help clean the crock by removing all the extra crusty cheese on the edges! Stuffed shrimp entree was also incredible with a generous helping of melted butter. Had ratatouille as one of the sides, and can say never BEEN so happy to eat all my veggies! Coming in was a bit awk as no one greeted me or told me where to sit so I was a bit confused but I went out of my way to ask someone at the bar what to do and she said just sit anywhere so I sat and very prominently someone came to take care of me. I love places that give you bread and butter and they did that's a plus would have been a bigger plus if the bread was warm haha their style is cold bread but still good to have. Meals are around 19 per person excluding drink. I got the fried shrimp plate. Large portion for the 19$ you spend on it so that is nice. Food was nice and fresh and came super quick. Waitress was very nice and attentive to my water needs as I drink a lot of water and finish my glass about 3 times a meal haha. Place was quiet and not busy at all.
