I would rate this place higher if based on the food alone. However, the following gets in the way. We were greeted by no one upon entering. One must go through the bar to get to the dining room (which I knew from previous visits). So we were left standing awkwardly by the hostess station. After a few minutes, we were approached simultaneously by two different staffers, both scowling as if we had inconvenienced them. One didn't ask us about a reservation, the other did, but rolled her eyes when we told her we did, indeed, have one. (We guests all looked at each other as if to say WTF?) We were seated shortly thereafter. Again, The food was mostly good, but the timing of one course vs another was terrible. Further, our server never checked to see if we needed anything (we did) or came back to see if the food was satisfactory (it was). Still, it's nice to be asked. The room was not crowded and the number of guests in the dining room could hardly be described as a demanding work load. The place seems to thrive on its bar business and lets the dining room take a back seat in priority. That might be acceptable if we went there for a drink and not to eat. If they want to be taken seriously as a restaurant, they've got work ahead of them. These days, there are plenty of alternatives. read more

Food was very good. Didn't order an entree just ordered a bunch of small plates... Which pleasantly were not small at all... Blackened Fish tacos had a nice heat to them, Asian calamari as well. Shrimp po boy pizza had a nice flavor combo. Bacon Mac and cheese was slightly underwhelming but that's nit picking on my part. Definitely will be going back again to try some more items. read more

We had our wedding at Sea Levels three weeks ago. We couldn't be happier! As always, the food was amazing. Just as important was the fact that Monty and his staff worked really hard to make sure the day was just as we wanted it. The menu was custom, unique and so delicious. The duck cakes, truffle mac and cheese, and the swordfish had our guests raving. The bar area, outside patio and formal dining room were all perfect for the casual, elegant feel we wanted. We definately recommend Sea Levels for any type of party, big or small. read more

The reason for the extra star is the service. The service was great! Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the food. We asked for 4 different things and they didn't have it. We went on a Thursday night, luckily I made a reservation because it was packed! They have a Thursday night hamburger deal so maybe that was why it was so crowded. We just had drinks and appetizers, coconut shrimp, crab cakes and a Caesar salad. Our server Quinn was super nice and very helpful. A stomach and wallet rip tide. Went for dinner, started with two seafood appetizers, both texture and taste were off. Immediately knew at that point, not to order anything else and got out of there. Sick all night and days thereafter from both. They buy crap and they serve crap. Bad seafood, real bad. This scum pond is swimming with bacteria. Unhealthy and dangerously bad. Their goal is cost not quality and their reason is cheap, selfish or ignorant, buying and serving inferior seafood that is mishandled, sitting around for a while, improperly stored and not cared for, all under the guise of their getting a purveyor deal for greedy profit, at the expense of their unsuspecting guests ( victims ). Shame on them. Seafood condition and quality, or in this pathetic case, a lack thereof, should never be like this unless something is seriously wrong. This $$$ fishing hole $$$, actually a sink hole in more ways than one, is a food borne illness time bomb, a torpedo aiming to inflict stomach pain and food poisoning, if you're fortunate to get just that. Run fast....before you get the runs fast. Don't get lured or reeled in by this " seafood ?" place. It is nothing more than expensive, doctored, tainted, contaminated chum, plated with outdated fancy presentation to hide the deceptively calculated, expensive garbage called food. They should accept Blue Cross cards as a form of payment. Better still, in my opinion, don't go in but if you are reading this now and are already sitting there, having already ordered, don't give your hard earned money away. Send the crap back and leave. If you haven't ordered, get up and leave now. They are trolling and fishing for your money, not your well being. A true embarrassment to what food should be. Horrible, in this case, would be a compliment but it's not, this place is beyond horrible. It is a health risk and it sucks. Gives new meaning to what a crab trap is, in fact this place is a trap in all regards and based on what was served, hopefully not a death trap. One of the worst ever. Beneath sea level is more like it, moreover a 1000 leagues under the sea and infinitely deeper. Dive out of this dive before you even take the plunge. Not even minus stars for this one. First time eating here and wasn't sure what to expect. The restaurant is actually a bit fancier than we had expected so we felt under dressed but they do give you the option of the dining room or the bar area for a table. We sat in the dinning room which had a romantic and timeless vibe. They have big comfy chairs and benches rather than the standard chairs. As far as the menu goes we thought the choices were good. They have a full page of soups, salads and apps which is nice if you like to eat smaller portions or even for sharing. They also had a separate special menu and a price fixe menu as well. I ordered my entree off of the special menu and it was fabulous! The perfect portion size to not feel stuffed but not be left hungry. My boyfriend ordered off the price fixe menu and got the baked clams appetizers and the seafood stew entree. The baked clams are definitely good but they have a thanksgiving stuffing type of flavor maybe nutmeg? The seafood stew was good but it was more of seafood with broth on the bottom and he was not given a spoon which was clearly an oversight. Service left us unimpressed. We look young (late 20s) and I feel as though the waitress paid us less attention in comparison to the older couples (50+). I even noticed that when we were seated, the waitress put the menus down and walked away but 3 tables were seated after us (older couples) and she immediately explained the specials in detail and immediately asked about drinks. I find that Sea Levels is a comfortable place to go with family and friends, from just the two of you to a large group. I love the food here and they have a decent selection of wines. Last night, while it was snowing pretty intensely, the restaurant was full. I had crab cake appetizers and the cod special. Outstanding. I have been here numerous times and it has yet to disappoint. I never go to the bar on the opposite side of the restaurant but it looks like a nice older mature crowd. The restaurant dining area is separated from the bar by a wall partition so you never hear any noise coming through from the other side. Nice place. read more

Two words: Weekly Specials! Thursday nights there is no place I'd rather be. Sea Levels has the best burgers and brews around. Tapas on Tuesdays are a clear second. Waitress was not happy to be working. She was very sarcastic and pushy. You could feel that she did not want to be there. The restaurant was half full so I didn't see the need for the rush. We wanted to take our time and enjoy the 2 bottles of wine that we ordered. My mussels were so EXTREMELY salty that I had to take bites of bread and sips of wine in between each shell. The mozzarella in my salad was of sub par quality. The reason for the 3 stars and not 2 is because I had a nice buzz going at dinner and I enjoyed the company of my friends. I have been eating /drinking at sea levels for at least 8 years 2 to 3 times a week,not once a bad meal,service is always on point,owners and staff always pleasant and welcoming,definitely a go to place if you are in the area,no idea why there would be any bad reviews,if i had a problem with food or staff in any establishment i would bring it to the owners attention and not resorted to yelp without even putting my name in the profile. This place is perfection! A hidden gem. First time there last night and we cozied up in the dining room to a cold Heineken light and a perfectly done Cosmopolitan. For appetizers we shared raw oysters and crab cakes; both perfection. The crab cakes were "the real deal" made with jumbo lump crab meat and oh so satisfying. The chilled raw oysters with lemon and cocktail sauce...amazing! This quaint establishment takes so much pride in their presentation. The servers and the food are top notch. It was a relaxed, elegant atmosphere and is now a favorite hands down. For entrees we ordered Italian Bolognese that was out of this world! Last time I had it like this was in Italy. Portions are perfect and not shy. Also ordered the evening special of Striped Bass with lobster risotto nested on a bed of sauteed fresh spinach and topped with microgreens. It was sexy and delicious. For desert you must order the "bread pudding" - omg never had better. Portions were plenty and we are enjoying the leftovers now. After dinner we ventured through the sliding doors to the bar area, which also has tables and service in a livlier setting with quality live music, guitar players. We sat at the bar for a glass of red wine and Basil Hayden and soaked in the warm community atmosphere, of a spacious British pub feel. Can't wait to go back and enjoy the rest of the menu. Made a reservation for 4 people at 8pm and was sat promptly that's where the positives ended ..... The waitress came over to our table and when we asked about the specials she said they were all sold out I think that was our first strike on this place . My brother in law ordered the baked clams and they were horrible then we ordered dinner . We all ordered swordfish which came out looking like this little small medallion of frozen fish on top of cous cous with some sort of a metallic tasting canned tomato sauce poured around it .... They were all promptly sent back and we asked for the check.... Maybe they had a bad night but for a first impression I was not impressed read more

My Brookhaven Singles group was set to arrive at 5PM but my call to Sea Levels a couple of days prior, found no reservation. They were closing at five for a private B'Day party. No, problem, we dined later. Those around me loved their fish dishes and the chicken roll with sweet potatoes. I started with the mussels appetizer which arrived barely room temp. I ate it because warming would have turned the mussels into rubber. My paella dish arrived with a very delicious sm. amt. of rice tossed on top of the mixed seafood. I think that tweezers would have been useful to find the rice on, in and about the mussels. Below was a watery seafood broth. What the heck! Paella should be rice that has absorbed all the broth with the seafood lightly tossed in. Trust me on this. The scallops were small, and tasting them alone, I found them to be, um, odd tasting but not off...like they had been stored improperly. The staff was hard working and three of our diners were late because the loc. was difficult to find. When I asked about the dessert menu, I was sharply told, "I'm getting to that!" Sorry. I like dessert an awful lot. I folded my hands in my lap and waited with bowed head. We all passed on the desserts so I can not comment. It seems that they had trouble adjusting from the sm. private group to a packed house. The bar area filled as soon as the doors opened. There you have it my wishy-washy review. It was restaurant week and @ $20 bucks, it was do-able. I won't feel the need to go back, but maybe you should give trial. I don't know. Don't pressure me. read more

Food has gotten worse since I was last there. Salads were wilted and brown . Room was ice cold! Most patrons had their coats on. This wasn't the first time people complained about it being so cold. Used to be a great place when when it was As Time Goes By. Lost the the atmosphere. Have been back 3 times and each time say I will never go back. Was there with a large group and treated terribly. Was there with one other person to watch a game, and they refused to turn it on. Even when what they were watching was over. Only two tvs and both on the same channel.
