I came here very hungry and completely blind, not knowing anything about the restaurant or even what was on the menu. I proceeded to have one of the best eating experiences of my life. I took advantage of the tapas lunch special and got 6 tapas items and shrimp cocktail. I cannot recommend the saffron mussels enough, holy cow. I finished every bite of everything I ordered somehow. The ceviche worked really well as a palate cleanser between bites of different tapas items. Came by for the first time for dinner last night without a reservation. Place was busy, however we were able to get a table inside. Our waitress was Kathy and she was great. The food was fresh and delicious and out on the patio. Chocolate indulgence was wayyyy too sweet for my taste but husband enjoyed it. My friend and I enjoyed the cheesecake more. Didn't feel like we were checked up on as much as other places. Portions are small and over priced. For example: I ordered for main course Tuna with Crab tempura cost $42 and only one tiny tempura crab leg the size of my child's pinkie finger. I can't say there wasn't a thing we didn't enjoy, from the creamy creme brulee, to the baked clams, grilled shrimp salad, minty lamb etc. Even the fries were perfection. Gas has gone up, which means food has followed, along with inflation in general in the past year but, wow, prices are out of control here. Especially if you look at the menus from 2 years ago. Today, a normal sized glass of sangria with lots of ice- $15. Two baby frenched lamb chops - $15 The two pound fluke dinner? Over $50. Fluke. Yaunno, what we all catch in the great south bay and surrounding area every summer. I have a ton stashed in my freezer. Wow. I think the lobster dinner was $65? We got a little bit of everything, but if you're on that inflation budget, sandwiches are the value choice. I can't help but feel that you're paying the the view. Service was fine until the got busy. Went to Fat fish last night on a beautiful Friday evening around 5pm. Can you explain to me why they had one bartender to take care of a full bar that was 3 people deep? And he was slow as anything... drinks were very good but extremely overpriced. We waited about 30 minutes for our table which was no problem. The live music was also a really nice touch. Our table was right at the waters edge and it was really a beautiful night. There's a really cute playground right next to the restaurant too so I'll have to bring my daughter next time. We started with 4 tapas and then had 2 plates... my friend and I shared everything. Honestly, the food was decent, some plates much better than others, but I think the restaurants rating of a 3 1/2 is spot on. I can't imagine myself running to come back here. The drinks we got at the table were very tiny. I ordered a vodka seltzer and it was a tiny little glass. $12. The fried shrimp, vegetable flatbread and the charcuterie board were the best items. The open ravioli and the mushroom rice balls were not great at all. The empanadas were good but they weren't empanadas at all. They were more of a potato croquette stuffed with shredded meat. The sauce they paired the mushrooms rice balls and the open ravioli with tasted like ragu. Red sauce was an odd pairing with those dishes as well. The service was slow and inattentive all around. If it wasn't for the location, this place would flop big time. Dessert was probably the best part. We ordered the affogato and the pistachio gelato and both were incredible. This is an amazing spot right on the water, but this the windiest restaurant I have ever been to. Bring a hair tie and prepare to be blown away. all of the food is delicious. Be prepared that the small plates are small and expensive. The bill is always surprisingly more than you would expect. Seafood is great. Drinks might be a little slow. Being able to make an OpenTable reservation now helps a great deal. Parking is down the block in a public lot. Everything from start to finish was flavorful. We came here for a light seafood lunch but couldn't help ourselves and had a full course meal instead. I ordered a Paloma because I have to switch up from the margaritas I always drink. We started with the pan fried oysters~ it was a special. I went with the halibut and my husband went with the tuna. By the end, our plates were clean. Very satisfied. We squeezed in dessert. He went with the creme brûlée and I went with the raspberry sorbet. Once dined at this location often when the restaurant name was Porky & Glenn's. Since the new owners, Fatfish, have taken residence, they have chosen to be open all year round. The restaurant has wonderful views with outdoor dining, I have not dined at Fatfish during the winter, but sounds like a wonderful place for a winter laid-back, cold ocean wave breaking melody evening. Flatfish's dining room has walls of sliding glass, tables comfortably positioned, and an attractive fake olive tree in a decorative pot. The restaurant's logo etched on glass doors; the creature is a Fatfish. I do not recall Fatfish on the menu, but if it were there, I would pass. I usually just order an appetizer as a meal. The grilled salmon salad when it is on the menu is perfect for me. But on this occasion, I chose the Tuna Steak which was different, but good. But the restaurant is not all about the meal, for me it is the atmosphere, relaxing with an energetic appeal, waterfront calming views, and a friendly staff at your table always. read more

Fatfish on the Water is an excellent place. There is a small parking area in front of the restaurant, but you will have a better chance of parking in the lot a few feet from the restaurant. The menu has lots of options, and the service is excellent. There is a bar area with music and bar tables in the back of the restaurant. I only noticed this after we sat at the table, but the table was suitable for the ambiance we were looking for. The customers were very friendly also. read more
