Went in on a weekday afternoon with a group of friends during their happy hour. The place was completely empty except for the 2 people at the bar. As we sat down at the bar the barmaid asked us what we were doing there NOT the correct greeting which might have been hi how can I help you today. We said we were there for HH food/drinks and do you have a bar menu. She said yes but we only had about 45 minutes to sit since she had "regular " customers that usually come in and when they did we had to give them our seat. I said I've never been told or heard of such a policy. She said that's what she does and she was very rude about it. I wonder if the owners are doing so well that they do not need customers and only rely on their so called regulars or this is just the rude barmaid policy. I just happened to pop in for lunch on Presidents' Day. The restaurant was empty but it was early. The bartender who was also our waiter seated us and immediately asked if we would like a drink. Through out our entire meal he was attentive even as the restaurant began to get busier. We ordered an appetizer of baked clams and French onion soup Both came out in a reasonable amount of time and were delicious. Our lunch mains consisted of a very well maintained skirt steak sandwich, which came with really good French fries and a Caesar salad which also was very tasty. I have been here many times over the past few years and I have to say it is our go to place especially when family come to visit. Last night we were there with family from the west coast and the food was amazing as always. When we walked in and sat at a booth the first thing they said was how quaint and cozy it was. I said, wait to to try the food! We shared a few appetizers that were really good along with a grilled octopus. Our main courses were so tasty and the pork chop special was to die for. We came to Bistro 44 at the end of 2023 to celebrate a family member graduating from the police academy. I ordered the Cioppino. As we were on our way home from the restaurant I started to feel very ill. As soon as I got home I got sick in the bathroom and then it went on for the rest of the night getting worse and worse. Went Saturday evening with a 7:45 seating. Sat out back in the open air section . Was a great evening, the waiter was excellent. I had A rack of lamb chops (which was not on the menu but they were nice enough to out it together for me )! Awesome . My wife's and friends' dinner was great as well. Went to Bistro 44 in Northport for the first time today, and everything was perfect. We had the roasted butternut squash salad with grilled chicken and the baby greens salad with grilled chicken. The combination of almost contradictory ingredients in the butternut squash salad was absolutely delicious, and the chicken was tender and flavorful. Went for dinner with my husbands and friends, Northport is so cute, location is nice by the water and dock. We went on a Saturday night, restaurant was busy because of it but service was still great. We had Thai calamari and mozzarella cheese for starters. Both delicious, Thai calamari had a spicy sauce with pineapples and plantains that was very good. I had the sesame tuna, my husband had the pork chops, friends had the halibut and skirt steak. All delicious I will get the steak next time! What a great night out dining, everything tonight was right on point. Food and service was impeccable. Made reservations a few weeks ago for a party of 6 and got the best table in the house, private table in the front window.... When they're busy it could feel crowded and very noisy in other parts of the restaurant. Everything is made fresh and tastes incredible, served hot and very flavorful. Nice wine list and full bar. Very accommodating for those with food allergies and I definitely recommend calling for a reservation at least 2 weeks out... Unfortunately we won't be returning. Unless it is for drinks. Dirty martini was good. It was 16.50. The ribeye - which we asked for medium - was not only rare but basically black and blue. My boyfriend couldn't even eat it. He said the rareness wasn't the worst part but rather it was a really vein-y piece of meat -- and he eats a lot of steaks -- and said this was definitely a bad cut. Wow. We took it home to heat up further and give it to the pets. $52 give or take. My chicken Milanese -- was a well pounded chicken breast breaded. So so thin it was like "where's the beef" commercial (well except this was chicken lol) and the salad on top was very generous which I liked -- but so overdressed I felt like I was drinking salad dressing (well ...chewing). Anyway for the price we paid for all of this it just wasn't up to that quality level unfortunately. If I can post a pic of the rib-eye I will....you let me know if this looks medium to you. Found a nice place in Northport. Was going to see the Jersey Boys at the local theater. Made a reservation and was a bit upset when the receptionist decided to place us across from the bar at the only high top ! Wife was pissed and was not going to accept this and was then offered any free table which was probably most of the restaurant. It was early. We found the service to be a bit chaotic. We waited a long time just for water which was warm, and bread which seemed to be at the other tables with customers. We tried to ask but it did not seem to work. When a waiter decided to acknowledge our existence, he took our bar order. We asked for the bread but waited a bit more. I had to stop a person who seemed in charge of filling glasses of water and distributing bread. At last we were honored with bread (30 minutes after sitting down) we were not a fan of the olive spread nor the garlic spread. Way too extreme. We ordered Thai calamari which was delicious and very large in size and the goat cheese salad was amazing. We did not appreciate trying to fit both appetizers with the bread on our small table so we had to disregard the bread. Our entrees were very good. However, my potato was frosty on the inside. They took my entire dish and had to wait atleast 10 minutes which meant my wife was done eating when I received my dinner again. I was a bit disappointed that no apology by management nor any compensation for the chaos. My $55 steak was great but eating alone was not my intention. I am on the fence if I would test this experience again. $175 without alcohol and a bit upset is hard to forget. Plenty more restaurants on the block to utilize. Your call read more

Came over on a Friday via boat and had issues getting a seat at 2 other places. We were happily greeted by the hostess who offered us seats at the bar for the 4 of us. Bartender was amazing and rest of staff stopping by bar to get drinks kept checking in on us and offering up suggestions. The food is delicious, particularly the baked clams with this lemony sauce at the bottom. They were fantastic. It's really vintage in here and do them nice way. Everything is enjoyable looks almost like either a ship or train car with the table set back in these partitions. It's a nice area to the right by the sea. From all the woodwork right to the tin ceiling's we love the atmosphere. They offer a prixe fix lunch during the week and it's a great deal. Went pre Northport Theater dinner with my girlfriend/spouse (smile) Did not want a big heavy meal so we decided to not get the Theater fix pre selection which did look amazing!!! but would have resulted in one of us probably snoozing. (yeah me!) I got the tuna tartare with avocado onion and some wasabi sauce.......very very good!! My wife got the mussels with a wonderful "nicely spicily" sauce. WE BOTH had for our "main" the butternut squash salad with a few candied walnuts, apples and a nice light but flavorful dressing . I had no goat or any cheese at all, and my wife kept the goat and added some grilled chicken. We both REALLY enjoyed this salad. The butternut squash was well seasoned and amply cooked, firm and not mushy. we BOTH woudl order this again. some pictures in here somewhere. I have been coming to Northport for the last 5 years with a sailing group. We don't really hit the nicer places like Bistro 44. Its thin and compact but the layout allows for intimate dining and conversation. VERY nicely decorated and utensils and server-ware and presentation is top shelf. Our service was awesome, waitstaff super!!! ("the bald guy" was hugely helpful and knew the menu and ingredients well ;-)) water glass never wavered below half glass, table and utensil were attended to with military precision. Everything here was delicious! And I wish I could remember our waiter's name because he was very friendly. The busboy was also very attentive, filling our waters whenever they got low. I had the soup of the day, which was potato and leeks with lump crab meat. My dinner was also a special--sole with shrimp over spinach risotto in a lemon sauce. My husband had the baby greens salad which was a very generous portion. And the skirt steak. For dessert, we had the French apple tart. It was so light and crispy. Amazing quaint restaurant in the heart of downtown Northport. We went here to celebrate my sister's engagement in September and we sat in the outdoor courtyard in the back. It was lovely! The service was impeccable. She had great recommendations. We got the fried mozzarella and Thai calamari to start and was great. The pino Grigio was yummy.
