Great place if you're looking for an authentic Japanese food. I ordered the udon tempura set. The set comes with 6 piece California roll and a one shrimp tempura . The broth is very tasty doesn't seem like they use a lot of msg. Not bad $11. I also got a drink Calpico it's a Japanese citrusy flavor drink. They also make fresh roll and sashimi when you order. They have sushi chefs that makes sushi right in front of you. They have pre- made rolls you can pick from. With all the different food drink and snacks. It almost feels like a mini Japanese super market. You go up and order they give you a number and you find a seat. I would say they have 14 tables of two. Sea ranch gives you the Japan feel. So not the biggest place but it works. It's street parking you have to pay for. Unless you park 2 blocks down in the neighborhood then it's free. Great place highly recommended!

Food: The sashimi combo and seaweed salad were delicious! No complaints at all. Seaweed salad was super fresh, and so was the sushi/sashimi as well. So worth the value for the price! Service: Sushi was so fast! We came at like 5:30 on a weekday, so it wasn't super busy. The cashier was also friendly. Ambiance: I love it, it's like a mini Japanese style mart. Really clean as well, and a lot of yummy Asian things to buy.

i absolutely love sea ranch! it's been my go-to for the past few years in evanston, especially when i'm craving sushi or japanese food in general. the food is always delicious (the spicy tornado roll is my favorite) and i love trying the rotating specials they have! my friends and i always default to meeting up here because we love their food and the casual atmosphere. the staff are always very polite and friendly, and ive never felt rushed at a table. a couple times i've ordered curbside pick up or had my order delivered to me in pour, which is also very convenient. if you buy sashimi grade fish, they also offer to cut it up for you, which is really nice! the selection of grocery items like rice, seasonings, snacks, instant ramen, and ice cream, as well as the cute stationery they sell, is another plus. the nearest asian grocery store to my knowledge is hmart in niles, about a 20-30 min drive, so being able to get smaller items at sea ranch in a pinch can save me a trip to hmart. the one thing i will say is that the take out containers are a lot of plastic, though the ones for soup and noodles are reusable. really minor though since i guess with sushi, a paper container doesn't work as well because the rice sticks. all in all, i love this place, and if i could give them more than 5 stars i absolutely would!!

Very fresh fish! Excellent sushi rolls and donburi! Complimentary hot tea. No fishy smell when you walk in. Service was prompt and tables turn over quickly even when the place is packed. Street parking wasn't bad.

Visited here on a whim Saturday Evening and did a take out order as there was no dining allowed during this time of Covid. I did do the order over the phone ahead of time which was great. By the time we got there there was a line of pick ups and people coming into order. Street parking here is always challenging however it is free on certain holidays Sundays and after a certain time in the evening. The place is small Homie and quaint but the food is very direct and no nonsense. The sushi is pretty simple no nonsense which I appreciate completely. I would consider this a go to for some basics and Staples but definitely not a place if you're looking for something fancy. The price point is fair as well and the portions are decent. I would definitely come back to fulfill a craving and get some good staples.

I've been a fan of the Sea Ranch since they were in Wilmette. A great spot for no attitude sushi. Great for take out.

Terrific sushi. Wish the place didn't smell so bad, so I could actually sit down and enjoy it there rather than hurry out the door.

Good run of the mill sushi. Soba and ramen not the best but the prices are normal enough. Good spot for reliably good sushi and prices.

At the end of our meal he turned to me and said "it either used to be way better here or maybe the restaurants in the burbs have just gotten a lot better over time." Our meal last night at Pescadero was just A-OK. Our waiter got the job done, but wasn't overly helpful. Ex: he asked after we put in our entree if we wanted anything else and we decided to throw in some oysters. He then told us he didn't know if he could get them out before our entrees since he already put in the order. Well he asked, didn't he? When we asked if the east or west coast oysters were meatier his response was "they are all the same here." They get a star for having Riesling and it was a pretty tasty one. We had very unexciting shrimp cocktail and oysters for our apps. I would skip both next time, which is sad for a seafood & oyster bar. For my entree I got the scallops special. According to my last review from here i loved the scallops. These scallops (served with risotto) were enjoyable, but would probably order something else next time. And my husband said his salmon was just fine. I love a good seafood & oyster bar so bummed this didn't live up to our past meals here, but it's a nice atmosphere so was still a nice Sat evening out in downtown Wilmette.

So started off with th Prosecco and the pink City (?) a great refreshing cocktail. We started with the crab cake and the pork belly. Both were fabulous. The sea bass was huge, and the breast served on a bed of charred veggies and shallots. Unbelievable. We finished with the lemon mousse Napoleon. Just wonderful. I was trying to find a place at least midway between us and discovered Carlos and Carlos on Yelp. Carlos and Carlos is old school from the perspective you actually have to call the restaurant to make a reservation. The space itself is located in what I think is a condo building. The space itself is compact, with tables relatively close together. We ended up sitting at table next to the kitchen door, which for me turned out not to be too bad as we were not sitting on top of other folks. The restaurant and bar were packed as it was a Saturday. Based on the size of the space and number of tables, I would strongly suggest making a reservation if you go there. We started out with fresh bread and one of their specials for the night: flash fried calamari served w/fresh tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers, shaved garlic, black olives, capers & garlic butter. This was a first for me as I have never had calamari served this way and it was great. Definitely a dish I would drive back to get. The bread was wonderful and hot. I could see through the kitchen as fresh bread was being pulled out of either a warmer or oven, not sure. It was served with some sort of olive oil and pesto, I think. It made for a lovely spread on the bread. For dinner I ordered a dish called "Meatballs" and it was just that, a whole lotta meatballs with some spaghetti thrown in as a side...HAHAHA! Not complaining, just staying a fact. The meatballs and pasta were good, but I would say there was a fair amount of garlic in the dish. I had my dish as a leftover and as I was warming it up, The Doctor commented that he could smell the garlic. The Doctor had the Pollo Vesuvio, which also came with pasta. I had a small piece and it was pretty nice. Again there was more meat than pasta, but again we were not complaining. The chicken was nice and tender and had a lovely flavor to it. My GF got the Risotto Al Fungi (Arborio served with wild mushrooms & goat cheese). Prior to sampling her dish, I would have absolutely stated that this was a dish I would not order in a restaurant as I wouldn't have any interest in it. I tried a spoonful of my GF's and was amazed at how good it was! The broth that the risotto was cooked in was chicken and I think beef. That with the goat cheese made this a very nice dish and the second reason I would drive here to do a repeat visit for dinner. Portion sizes were nice as The Doctor and I had plenty to eat and enough for light snack the next day. My GF had no leftovers, she became a member of the clean plate club. For dessert we shared a slice of the chocolate mousse cake, which was really nice. It had a lovely dark flavor to it and was creamy in texture. Service was nice and everyone was friendly. There is plenty of street parking within walking distance as well. While this is a bit of a drive for us to get to since it is outside of the city, I could see coming back here. I think I want to try a serving of that risotto on my own instead of a taste.
