Terrible experience. Avoid the Taiwanese female stylist! It was my first time visiting this salon based on a friend's recommendation, and it was an absolute disaster. 1. Dishonest Pricing & Awful Hair Wash: Before starting, the Taiwanese female stylist told me that washing my hair would only cost $2 more than just a dry cut. However, I had called the salon beforehand and knew the actual price difference was $15. I didn't say anything at the time, but the hair wash turned out to be extremely sloppy. She barely applied a bit of shampoo once, and it felt like my hair wasn't even fully wet. She rinsed it out in just a few minutes without massaging my scalp or doing a second shampoo. she kept pushing a $100 hair treatment. Thank goodness I refused. 2. Extremely Lazy Haircut: she literally made only five snips (no exaggeration) to trim the back and immediately started blow-drying. Shocked, I asked, "Aren't you going to cut the front? Did you trim the back?" She said the back was cut already ( me : with 5 snips??!) and I wouldn't be able to grow my hair long if she cut the front but she could do it. Under my persistence, she finally cut the front, but that didn't exceed five snips either. She spent way more time blow-drying my hair than actually cutting it! 3. Zero Professionalism & Service Awareness: After blow-drying and straightening, she took off my cutting cape. I pointed out that the left side was still flipping outward and asked her to fix it. Instead of putting the cape back on, she just started cutting right over my own clothes, leaving loose hair all over me. As a girl, my entire wash, cut, and blow-dry took only 30 minutes, while a male customer next to me got his hair cut by other stylist for an hour. I ended up paying $50 total and the result is extremely disappointing. My hair is not smooth at all; it's very frizzy, and the unruly hair roots weren't trimmed off at all. Waking up this morning, my hair is completely messy and flipping out worse than before because it was chopped randomly without any technique or layers. Unbelievably unprofessional. I walked in the next day and they were ready for me, although there were a lot of walk-in customers they did not keep me waiting for too long. I didn't choose any stylist, but I was very lucky to have Mia, who was very experienced and skilled. She gave me a very nice sperm and throughout the process of service was very tentative. This place caters to mostly Asian clients, and they have a lot of walk-ins, however, they were polite and courteous to all. Saw a lot of grandparents bringing their grandchildren. In for haircuts, this is definitely a family friendly place. Their prices are reasonable for today's market situation, however, their website listed much lower prices, which they said they had not updated for many many years! Jean is very friendly, sweet, and knowledgeable, and I am ultimately happy with how my hair looks overall! I'm leaving an honest review for pricing transparency. I asked for the price at the beginning on a standard trim/wash/blowdry, and was told it was a certain price, but was charged extra at the end for either the curtain bangs or the wash -- that wasn't made clear to me beforehand. I really wish the add-on fees had been discussed upfront. Additionally, the water at the sink was uncomfortably hot at times, and my hair got pulled a bit during the comb-out. Straight to business and no-nonsense service. Mei greeted me hello and motioned me immediately to their chair as soon as I walked into the door. Twenty minutes prior, I called ahead and was quoted a price for pre-washed hair plus cut vs unwashed. I opted for the pre-wash price and proceeded with showing Mei pictures of my chin-length layered lob. Mei nodded with understanding and took about 10 minutes to lighten my hair deftly with her shears. Then after 15 minutes of my fretting, motioning, and suggestions, she added the finishing textures & trimmings before tousling and drying it. She didn't add any products to my hair which I appreciate! Many salons add product and I cannot replicate the look at home. At the end of the service, my cut was very close to my inspo-photo. Also, my wallet was not as dented (even with a 25% tip included). Final thoughts: Quick service for walk-ins on a weekend. Very affordable for women's haircut (~$40) especially if you arrive with pre-washed hair. Will definitely be back if I'm in the area. read more

I got a Groupon so decided to try this massage. I called to make a appointment. The person who answered the phone was really nice and it was simple to find a appointment time. There was plenty of parking. There's a big massage sign right in front of the store. The store is connected to a salon. The place was clean. It's a community massage room that is not super private, so the massage is clothed with no massage lotion. The therapist has very good pressure. She can definitely give a deep tissue massage. It's not very relaxing cause it's clothed and there is no lotion but if you need pressure on a area that has pain I can se why it could be beneficial. They give foot massages that would probably be more of a relaxing massage. I read a review that the therapist calls you out if she thinks you did not tip enough. I guess I did not tip enough because she did call me out on it. It was rude but funny cause I had read that in one of the previous Yelp reviews. Be ready to tip 15% or more or you will hear it. I took both my kids here a couple days ago, and while the wait time was relatively short, the service was very poor and my daughter had complained of the passive-aggressiveness of her stylish. She'd gone to get her hair cut shorter and the stylist seemed very impatient with her. She'd told me that she was going to show how short she wanted her hair, but her arms were not free because of the barber cloak and the stylist would not let her arms free to show her. My daughter ended up with a haircut way too short of what she'd wanted and was afraid to go to school for the next couple of days, even wanting to purposely get sick to stay home. (im pretty sure i've been 5-15 mins late to every appointment...sorry!) ok..lets get to the nails. now, i guess i have been known to have these wild and crazy nails with giant cakes/flowers/bows hanging off of them...well as it so happens, i've grown up. :) i no longer desire wearing cakes and lollipops on my fingertips. minnie mouse, duffy, and bunnies? no thanks. i've gone simpler, meaning i mainly want things like...one or two colors, some glitter, and maybe some rhinestones. i want flashy but im no longer desiring "OMG-HOW-DO-YOU-DO-ANYTHING" nails. in other words, the flatter, the better. i was still going to my old haunt, Atlas, but they were starting to rush and get careless. the gel peeled off almost every time. i was losing crystals after a couple days; nails were breaking more often then they should have been. i had been going there for 3 years, and i knew it was time for a new salon. ENTER HSIN HSIN: a coworker asked me how much i paid at atlas and when i told her, she was APPALLED! she recommended that i give Hsin Hsin a call and try her at least once. i gave in. :) I made my appointment and went. The first thing i noticed was that she was working by herself, renting a station at a salon. GREAT! she went through the process of filing down my nails and shaping them and then when i went to pick a color, i noticed that she used PRESTO gel....THE SAME PRODUCTS as atlas!!! after she applied my usual "baby pink" (#51) color, she asked me if i wanted glitter. OF COURSE! she got out all these different glitter powders and mixed it into the gel! i asked her why she just didnt buy premade glitter gel and she told me, "if I did that, everyone's nails would look the same!" OMG, i'm falling in love. i got one white bow on each hand with my new set of glittery pink nails. It cost a grand total of $35. OMG OMG OMG I'M IN FREAKING LOVE ..... At my old salon, atlas, this would have cost at least $62($50 for a new set, $6 for each bow. sometimes they charge for glitter, sometimes they dont. XD) anyways, i am SO glad that i found her!!! :) i even told her i'd be so upset if she stopped working or decided to leave and have kids because i'm selfish and want her to do my nails and listen to my ridiculous stories forever. ok....im done fangirling over her...i've been back 3 times since my first visit and she never ceases to amaze me with her talent and skill! just go to her. ps, cash only. i found that out the embarrassing way. I'd always wanted to get Japanese nails done but I couldn't decide on a place because 1) they'd be too expensive or 2) they were too far away. Once again, Yelp to the rescue - I found Hsin Hsin in Irvine, which is only 20 minutes away! When I tried to make an appointment with her for last week, she was already completely booked, but luckily she had space for me this week right before I have to leave again for NY. Hsin Hsin is so friendly and nice to talk to, plus she's clearly great at what she does. I have never had nails as fancy as these in my entire life, all for $60 + tip! (The other places I was looking at were at least $100+, which I could NOT afford.) I'm so glad I found this place! Now I won't need to go back to low quality nail salons again :) P.S. The building has apparently undergone some remodeling, so now the nail area is in the back part of the building, behind the hair salon. read more

I came here with my son previously and had a decent experience (I'd say a 3 star). But this last time will be our final visit. My son and I walked in and were the first walk-ins, but everyone was busy so we sat and waited patiently for our turn. Others came and sat near us. May Chen is amazing! My dad has been going to her for years. I came in with him, spontaneously wanted to chop off my dead ends, and immediately got squeezed in. My hair feels amazing. I went to see Tina and got my hair done today. She has been my hairstylist for over 5 years. I precious my hair so much and don't want to damage it by perming it. But Tina suggested I give perm a try, which I did. And it turned out to have a good result. It looks like I have more hair, and easier to style it. Review for the massage part of the salon: I was in desperate need of a back and shoulder massage and wanted to find a cheap massage place nearby. Yes, I know GG/Westminster/Bolsa have a ton of cheap places for only $15 but I've been to a few and they all murder me-yes, I'm super sensitive! I found one from Yelp in a center that I always frequent (Yummy Taiko! Lollicup!) so I know I wouldnt get lost or waste time trying to finding them. The Yelp phone # listed is for the SALON part. I was redirected to another phone number-for next door (but same business name. They also close later.) I got the appointment time I wanted. I got the bed back body massage which ran for $30/30 minutes. I felt that time would be sufficient for just my back. I get my own private room and get to undress so she can work out the kinks and knots. (The cheaper chair ones outside are for clothed foot massage-$25/1 hr. The BED full body massage is $60/hr.) I undressed, hopped on the bed, and was ready to go. The prepared bed is pre-warmed or something which felt nice. It was clean and sanitary too-the spot of the bed where you put your face had several liners and towels. Annie started off massaging my back through a sheet and also did my legs/feet for about a minute. Then she put oil on my back and went to work. Before she started, she asked me where I have pain so that she can focus on that spot more (I felt that she didnt-but thats ok.) I spoke up a few times when I wanted her to go lighter on me-especially around my bony prominences/scapula. It ended with a warm wet towel to wipe the oil off and then some tapotement over a sheet. I think I actually enjoyed that brief part more! Less pain! I wish I could customize my massages! Now there's a new business idea! Like ordering sushi-put what movements I want on a paper and where so I can bypass the other unnecessary painful parts. Overall, I enjoyed the experience!
