This was an OK stay for the price. The parking is OK. The breakfast was horrible and there was no Wi-Fi. Everything else was pretty clean. The room was big enough. We only stayed one night. I have never stayed in this area so I don't really have anything to compare it to. The staff seemed nice, but there was periodically people not up in the Front Desk and we had to keep ringing the bell.

Avocado omelette, my side of hotcakes (wow!) and my husband got a Shipwreck scramble.

Very quiet and private spot for breakfast. I asked for hotcakes as my side and they were big and golden and delicious- a meal by itself even! The waitress was generous with the coffee. Very polite. I really love this place.

    Heater only,

The room change was not your fault. The fact that there was no one cleaning our room for the Three days we stayed, is. When we asked for someone to help adjust the thermos stst when it was uncomfortable and hot, they told us to " crack a window" after telling us an hour and a half before that very would send a maintenance man up to help- they sent someone after I was told to " crack a window." There has been loud banging noises from somewhere in the area near our room, and rhe last day house cleaning asked if we wanted our room cleaned after 3 days of not so much as toilet paper replaced in our room. There is a loud echoing noise coming from the thin walls and when I asked the front desk to quiet it down- it's 10 pm, and we are leaving tomorrow early, it's my understanding that the hot tub closes at 10 pm at posted hours. At 10:20 pm it was finally quiet. ( There is an open hatch on the roof by our room, next to our balcony) Our new and improved room is above the hot tub. It is echoing and we can hear loud conversation in our room. I am glad that your establishment offered an " upgrade" and gave us a king-sized bed. But I have to say, that no house keeping ( we put that we needed our room cleaned, and no toilet paper, we had to ask for towels, and being ignored when we asked for maintenance ,loud disruptive voices after 10pm, and being told to "basically " handle it ourselves" when the room temperature cannot be adjusted is unacceptable. Also the room is DATED. I took a picture of the phone from the 80's. The only thing missing is a rotary dial. The fact that your temperature gauge is not up to date, makes a huge difference in the comfort of your guests. I wanted to cook meals to save money for a much needed get away with my daughter, and was told from the storm we had to change rooms was stressful, now we are being told that it's our problem if we need basic attention for things like temperature control, loud noises, and a clean, maintained room. The girl at the front desk in the morning is pleasant and helpful. Whoever is at night is rude and apathetic, and needs to find a different job. Last night Told the front desk person after 8 pm that I injured myself, and needed extra bags snd towels. I told her my daughter would be by to pick them up or if she could send someone to bring me those basic needs. She said it would be better if my daughter came to her and picked them up- not a huge deal, my daughter is helpful, but I thought isn't that her job to make sure we have basic requests fulfilled? I am extremely dissatisfied, will not return to this motel again. I true to save money, and paid for my mistake.

Make sure your WiFi works as soon as you get in. If you get true guy at night with an accent, forget about it. He will do nothing for you
    Jas C.

Great room and all but the night time customer service here is the worst. The WiFi in this room does not work at all. The man with an accent at the desk 8/3 11:30 does not seem to care. He has not fixed it, nor offered any compensation, or shown any sign of wanting to do a good job. All he says is it should be working. Or that maintenance is not answering but I doubt he cared enough to call maintenance. I know a deplorable worker when I see one. I demanded compensation due to the fact that I'm paying the same amount for the room as people who are getting internet but I doubt he will make good on that too.

Just a roach hanging out behind the bed

ZERO stars !!!!I made the mistake of booking this through a third party and believing the pictures I should have read the reviews but I got so busy with work I lagged. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot I had a bad feeling. But I was willing to check out the room. I indulged in a room with a balcony ( hahaha I laugh at that now) front desk was friendly during check in pointed us to our room. Upstairs with the rear facing the ocean. I knew it was trouble when there was carpet on the walkway and stairs leading to room mind you this is out side walkway and stairs. As soon as I opened the door the smell hit me. Musty old carpet with stains. I started checking the room like I always do and I always first go to mattress and check the corners for signs of bedbugs or critters. Using my phone I look behind and behold a roach trap with a little fellow stuck there. Ok nope I'm out ! Told my husband to grab our stuff let's go ! Went immediately to the front desk and said I'm not comfortable here the room has insects better yet roaches. I explained I wanted a refund and would be finding another hotel. Front desk lady tried to convince me to check out another room. Uh no if you got roaches in 1 room I'm not going to another. When I showed the picture she then told me oh no we don't even have those kind of traps. What are you implying? I brought the roach with me to get out of the room ? Yeah no ! Other man who was there and said oh it's just preventative. Ok if you got roaches on it and it behind the head of the bed Im not staying here ! Im not sure if the staff thought this was normal or what but that roaches public death saved me from staying at this horrible, dirty disgusting place. Ended up in Holiday Inn down the road in a suite with a wrap around balcony. Take my advice don't stay here this place does not look like the pictures and should be taken down. UPDATE: this roach motel has refused to refund my money !! They made a statement implying I placed the trap ! Hilarious because I have nothing better to do but to frame a dirty hotel so I can go get a better one ? Gaslighting for sure ! Rest assured I will get my money and there will be a call to the health department. Please this place is not worth the money at all ! Stay away I am so upset that I didn't read the history of reviews. Don't stay here !! Beware !!!

Step back in time at the seabird lodge. I felt like I was walking into my great grandmas bedroom. While Cozy and mostly clean the carpet is probably from the 70s stained and smelt wet. Needs upgrading desperately. Walls were painted pink over the old wallpaper. Pros: clean. I didn't get any bug bites. Bed was clean. Price was ok. Cons: smelt mildewy, carpet had stains and was gross. Walls are paper thin heard my neighbors going to pound town all night long. Every time someone flushes their toilet I heard it. Bring your own pillows these are thin and hard. Tossed and turned all night. The coffee machine has tea but the machine doesn't brew just water you have to have a coffee pod to make it turn on. So the tea can't be used. Vending machine stole my Cheeto's also... lol

We thought it was a saw, sounded like someone was doing renovations above our room. No 'continental' breakfast, just coffee pods and tea bags. Agree with Doreen B - rooms are shabby. Don't expect daily room service as that must now be a thing of the past. Rates don't reflect the lack of services or condition of the property. Location is fine. Not far out of town. Does have access to the beach - with a walk through a field and then a hike down a cliff. So if your up for that? There is a paved walk/bike path that runs behind the property and is heavily used. Don't expect privacy on your little deck - if you are lucky to face the ocean. Parking is slim, but there is a public parking lot right next door that you could walk over from. The staff is great. They are well aware of the properties shortcomings. Would I come back here again - no.

I think my only complaints are 1. the remote control was weird like you had to point it a certain way for it to work and 2. a tiny bathroom. But these were minor. Staff was great and very helpful if I had any questions. Would definitely stay here again.

But we were provided ear plugs and a box fan. Due to the excessive heat this year (and probably every year moving forward--thanks a lot consumerist culture and climate change), we were roasting the first night. No AC. (And I hope they never get it. More wasted energy.) Used the box fan the second night and it was perfect. During the day, opened the glass patio door and enjoyed the ocean breeze. We learned that the neighboring wastewater plant helped replenish the soil after the conservancy obtained the land from the old lumber mill. Volunteers seeded plant life. We called ahead to see if there was a restaurant on sight. There isn't one, but they have a sister restaurant that is about 3 min away that if you get their coupon you get 20% off. It's only 3.5 stars on Yelp so we passed and ate on our way. We were running late so that was really our only option to get lunch on our way to work. On the phone they asked us our arrive time and according to the gps it said 1hr and 12 minutes. She said she'll try to have our room ready as people were just checking out now. We arrived at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, May 4th 2026. To our amazement our room was ready, we weren't expecting that as we were so early. It was a blessing as I had to get to work in the room, we can work remotely sometimes. They also upgraded us to a room with a view. And it's a remarkable view of the ward and harbor. You can hear the sea lions, I believe barking at each other and many species of bird singing. There is a balcony with chairs you can sit out on too. The room has its own thermostat which keeps the room toasty warm on low and it's quiet. I can't recall what kind of unit it is but it's in the blood bad it quietly pushes hot air out. The room has a kireg type machine with sorted coffee, large mini fridge and freezer, and microwave. There is a desk and lounge chair and big screen tv with multiple channels. The shower/tub and toilet is separate from the vanity. The light to the tub/ toilet are is on the outside and the fan is extremely loud, so loud that it will wake up your mates who are in a deep slumber, so that's a minus. They have a ground floor that requires no steps and has a ramp that goes around to additional rooms. Other than that there are a lot of steps and no elevator that we've seen. So if you don't do stairs pick the ground floor and walk in on the lobby side. The lobby has all day tea, coffee, hot chocolate complimentary. They also have snacks and drinks for purchase: rice a Toni, Mac n cheese, spaghetti o's chicken noodle soup, tuna/chicken and crackers, chips, jerky oatmeal, and cold cereal. As for drinks they have juice boxes, milk, Gatorade, matcha, ect. No alcohol that I could see. The wharf is a 15 min walk or 3 min drive and they have seafood restaurants there. Across the street is Homestyle cafe for breakfast and lunch and you're a few min from downtown. This is a great location.

We had a room with a balcony overlooking the harbor and highway 1. Be forewarned, this hotel is definitely outdated, but it had everything we needed: it was fairly quiet, had a comfy bed, good water pressure, and was clean! Since our room was closer to the highway, it was a bit noisy with the sliding glass door open, but was fine once it was closed. It didn't bother us at night. Your room will also not be turned in daily, but they give you plenty of towels and the garbage cans are big so it was fine for our stay.
