The restaurant has a chill mid century vibe and every staff member we interacted with were super pleasant and welcoming. The food is great. My partner and I split a few small plates and an entree. I had read great reviews about Seabird and wondered - could it really be THAT good? The answer is a resounding yes! Our party of five went there on a Friday evening to celebrate 3 of our group's birthdays. We ordered a number of small plates to share - Habanero Sorghum Ribs,(my personal favorite!), Catfish Pups, Cauliflower Hummus, and Baked Oyster Rockefeller. Every item was cooked perfectly, with amazing flavors. For main course, 2 people ordered the cioppino. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the sauce was very interesting and non-traditional. Both of the people who ordered the cioppino would have probably licked the bowels if we would have let them! :-/ Two people split the spinach salad and the swordfish schnitzel. Wow! Who knew a salad could be so interesting and delightful. The swordfish, as everything else, was perfectly cooked with delightful flavor. The fifth person in our group ordered the roasted beets small plate, which was also fabulous. We weren't quite finished as we ordered 3 brownie trifles (one for each birthday). I was skeptical about ordering a brownie since so often they are so boring, but - like everything else - this brownie was unique and delightful. Our server, Claire, maintained her pleasant professionalism throughout the evening even when we became a bit overly inquisitive about the menu. What a fabulous experience! I've not been for dinner yet. But I've done brunch a number of times and it is wonderful. And last night we went for cocktails and enjoyed it thoroughly. It's a beautifully designed space. A little Art Deco/art Nuevo/MCM. It feels like somewhere you could go in a much larger city than Wilmington. The staff is helpful and informative. We popped in here for a quick lunch on our way out of town on a Thursday. The staff was very warm, welcoming and gave us a great suggestion for some amazing wine. We ordered the shrimp and oyster Po boys and settled into wait. The environment is beautiful, comfortable and inviting. Our food came out surprisingly quickly and did not disappoint! The french fries were thin and perfectly done with just enough salt. Our shrimp and oyster poboys, with that lovely touch of citrus were absolutely perfect. My husband and I grew up in and out of the New Orleans area, so we're pretty picky about our Poboys. We agreed that these were the first poboys that needed absolutely nothing to make them perfect. Went in tonight to eat, we had only 3 of us. Wife called ahead to ask about reservations before our vacation there and they said for small parties we did not need one. They wld not let us dine in when we got there and the manager said he did not care and would not give us a table. I quote "We are so popular, you cannot eat here wout a reservation". One word. Amazing!! We waited for weeks to give this newbie to Wilmington a try and it did not disappoint!! Melonie cheerfully greeted us and had a table waiting to seat us right away. The wait staff was buzzing around; every table was well attended. After our drinks arrived a small plate of the best corn bread biscuits with sorghum drizzle arrived. The Chef, Dean Neff, brought us fresh salads of watermelon, canary melon, mint sprigs and charred biquinho peppers., with lime zest! A multitude of flavors to make your mouth dance!! Our food was quick to arrive shortly after we finished our salads. My husband had the Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Plankton Pasta. He said it was delicious! I had the Swordfish Schnitzel with Spaetzle and sautéed Squash. The fish was tender, moist and so much flavour! Our friends had the Eastern Cioppino which he said was delicious and the Bavette Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Kale. She said it was done to perfection! You would think after all that food we wouldn't have room for dessert. Au contraire! We had the Orange Ice Cream, full of flavour, warm Brownie Truffle (with the right hint of banana )Sundae, Chocolate Pudding with Blackberries and the cutest tiny popcorn and Coconut Panna Cotta. Everything is always great, breakfast has significantly improved since the system they initially had as well and it's one of the coolest looking spots around, super New England feel with excellent drinks and meals. Great time. Rachel M provided amazing friendly service, and made great recommendations. All our drinks and waters were always full. Someone who, I believe was working expo, actually caught an (empty) wine glass that was about to fall off the table in a spiderman-esqe move! Staff was really amazing overall. Food was great, dont sleep on the ribs they are so tender and delicious. Obviously seafood is the star and you should definitely try the different raw oysters. Can't recommend enough. read more

The service was great I can even say over the top from our server but other than that I wanted to try the place out and see how it was. There's a nice vibrant open feel about the place and the food was good but that's only average for downtown, when I think of having dinner at the new seabird at "1 Front street" I think of one of the nicest, newest places with the best food and although it was good I can't say it was over the top. So sad to say this, but we were highly disappointed. We were expecting great things because we love Pinpoint so much. Unfortunately, the food was bland and relatively uninspired. The ribs were so dry that they were inedible. The tuna was lacking flavor - needed some acid and salt. The crab ravioli was good enough but did not have the "wow" factor that we have come to expect from chef Dean Neff. I really hate to write a bad review, but we left wanting a lot more flavor. read more

Seabird is a must visit when in Wilmington. The beet and raw tuna salad with capers, caviar, and pieces of citrus fruit was the best dish I have eaten in 2022. Each bite was balanced and the textures were thoughtful, it is no wonder the chef is a James Beard nominee. We ordered the crudo, fish pie, ciopino (fish stew), rice pudding, and house made chocolate donut ice cream. Amazing dinner at Seabird last night!!From the moment we walked in, the food and service were both impeccable. The ambiance at Seabird feels like you are dining at the hottest restaurant in town while being treated like family. We started with drinks and the 3 different baked oysters. My favorite was the Broiled Hollandaise Oysters while the other 2 members of my party loved the BBQ oysters. All 3 were fantastic and enjoyed by all. Next we decided to order all 7 small plates on the menu and share. Wow, just wow! Each dish was flavorful and unique. Chef Dean truly has a talent for pairing flavors to create dishes that are next level culinary creations. Our absolute favorite was the Smoked Catfish and Oyster Pie. A bit of advice- order this for yourself and don't share. It's that dang good! For dessert we enjoyed the Warm Brownie Trifle Sunday and the Chocolate Budino. Both were beautifully presented and were a perfect ending to an absolutely amazing dinner. Seabird is at the top of my list of exceptional dining experiences in Wilmington. read more

This is my new favorite restaurant in North Carolina. The food is amazing, and so are the cocktails. The bar area is super cute and has a coastal ambiance with a little sprinkle of an Art Deco/1920s vibe. The oysters on the half shell were beautiful and fresh and their cocktail sauce was very unique and delicious. We tried all 3 baked oysters (hollandaise, bbq and Rockefeller and they were beyond amazing. The saltine crackers they make and cornbread with sorghum honey were really good. The drinks were ordered were really great too. "From the ashes" cocktail is a standout. It's going to be very hard to eat anywhere else in Wilmington now.
