I came in to celebrate my 6 year anniversary and I have to say the food was amazing some of the best sushi we've ever had and the atmosphere was great really clean and you can tell the staff takes pride in their presentation. We found this place on DoorDash and gave it a shot. Both my husband and I agreed it was some of the best sushi we've had in a long time. He enjoys the raw sushi while I prefer rolls that are cooked/tempura. The Mr. Krabs is my favorite so far. It was so good we got them 2 nights in a row. Sooooo good, We have lived on oceans all our lives and now live in Arizona so visiting we neeeeded sushi. The fish was so very fresh, there is not a roll we wouldn't recommend but the sunset roll was my absolute favorite. Any roll with Yuzu sauce was so refreshing. The chicken teriyaki was hot, fresh, and juicy. Our server Jessie was very sweet and gave great service. The sushi came out extremely fast as well. The place is a little small so a reservation is helpful, we were lucky to walk in but it got very busy. I highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

I've been wanting to go to this place for a while, so I finally got the opportunity. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed although the service was wonderful I was the only one in the place for lunch and the roll that I got with no rice was so small that it was the size of a $.50 piece when cut and it was fishy. Then I got the spicy scallop hand roll and it had a very weird taste and was very gooey. I get them all the time this one didn't do it for me. Unfortunately, not super impressed. Poorly trained busboy brought water carrying the glasses with his fingers from the rim instead of grasping the glass from the bottom. What's worse is hos fingernails were dirty. Basic restaurant training teaches to always carry glassware from the bottom and never touch the rim, where patrons place theor lips to drink, with your fingers. A delicious new spot that has opened up in Westlake. This place is always packed and deservedly so. The fish here is absolutely fresh as can be and the creative rolls on the menu are all delicious. While the restaurant can feel a little bit small, I like to think of it as being a bit more intimate. It doesn't feel cramped at all but the restaurant seats about 30 people across roughly 18 tables. We were a party of six with a 6:15 reservation. We checked in about 10 minutes early. We had to wait about 10 minutes to get our table, which was totally fine. The service is always undeniably the best around; you get greeted with 'How can I help you?' and smiles are just everywhere--phenomenal. We put in an order for salmon avocado Pressed sushi right away since we had some hungry people. Before we actually ordered our main dishes. If you haven't tried it, I would absolutely recommend the salmon avocado pressed;the salmon tonight was absolutely out of this world. The Sunset roll is always my go-to, always perfect. We also ordered Shishito peppers; they were on the spicy side tonight, but I love that!! read more

I bit into my rainbow pressed roll and said, oh, they named this place well. Sea butter, that's what it tastes like, melt in your mouth sushi. There is a good reason why this restaurant was crowded when we went- people know the sushi is worth the name. I had a glass of cava and it was perfect with the fish. My husband got the dragon roll, and it was flavorful, I liked it better than the pressed roll because the inside was more complex than creamy. We don't live nearby, but we will remember to come back when in town. read more

Goodness, this place is well worth the price of admission. You have the upscale feel of a high end restaurant, with the personal touch of attentive servers happy to provide recommendations. I can't say I had an empty sushi plate on the table for more that 10 seconds. On the topic of sushi, wow... the quality of fish is incredible. The rolls aren't over the top with sauces or thick masks to cover up the fish. Rather, the rolls are constructed to enhance the taste of the fish itself. Wonderful!! I have read the complaints about the portions being small, and the prices high, and it is easy to think that if you are used to grocery store sushi. My Omokaze plate could not have been better. The selection was beautifully presented, and each piece was served at the perfect temperature, artfully displayed, and thoroughly delicious. I also started with the baked scallop roll, which I was hoping to be a bit different, and I did enjoy it, but as I was hoping for something else, I probably won't order it again. Don't let that stop you. My lunch ended up costing $70, including tip, so this isn't an every day meal for me, but this is very high quality sushi, and like ordering authentic Wagyu beef , you shouldn't expect to pay Denny's prices. This place is amazing. For such an unsuspecting spot, they've got some really quality sushi and nigiri. I got the spicy tuna albacore roll as well as the chef's choice nigiri which was excellent. My wife and I had dinner here yesterday around 6pm. I would normally give this place a 3 because of the fish quality, but the value is decent for the price, the service was great, and it's Westlake. Their fresh sushi is like a 2 out of 10 compared to higher end omakase in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills or the Valley on Ventura Blvd which have actual Japanese chef masters. If we're talking about Westlake standards, it is probably a 7 or 8 since anything remotely okay is considered decent given that there's a serious lack of authentic Japanese food in the area. For the price point and closeness to my house, it's fine I guess but I'm pretty picky about sushi. Sugarfish in Calabasas which to me like a Tier 2 Sushi restaurant (Lower than Sushi in LA like Shin, Shunji, Tanaka, Iki, Soko, Yotsuya ) has fresher fish but the service there is pretty bad sometimes and the wait is long during peak hours. If I had to choose sushi close by without driving more than 15 min, I personally would go to Sugarfish for their fish for an early dinner (less people around) and just suffer their mediocre service but I can see why people would prefer to go to a less crowded Seabutter and a shorter drive. read more

I know sushi. The Hamachi was fresh so was the maguro. Then I ordered the scallop with only on top for $15. It comes and the thinnest slice humanly possible of uni is laid on top of the scallop. BS. Then I ordered the sweet shrimp with the heads. The heads usually have some green gunk that doesn't affect the taste necessarily but doesn't look very appealing. However, this one came and the show was so hard it was nearly enough to cut my mouth and not be able to eat it. In addition what normally is green Gunk look like motor oil, real black and real unappealing. Maybe in Westlake with unlimited funds nobody cares, but as a matter of principle The Sweet shrimp debacle combined with the obvious minimalistic effort on a $15 item is a gigantic NO for me. read more
