Seafood shacks my new joint for fresh and delish crawfish. I love the Asian style that its cooked in with garlic and spicy. Their catfish basket and fries are on point too. Oh and the oysters. Amazing Food. I was pleasantly surprised when I went to this place. I honestly was expecting a typical southern fried catfish place. It certainly is not. Great fresh seafood however you want it. I had raw oysters and my friend had steak and lobster. His steak was cooked perfect and lobster was cooked awesomely. Food tasted amazingly to us both. I went to place on Feb 17, 2024 and decided to stop by on my delivery route. I bought the combo basket that came with 2 pieces of CATFISH, 4 shrimp, 1 hush puppy, 1 roll and fries. Complete garbage!!!! Hush puppies and fries is straight out of the freezer. Not made in house. To the people of Arkansas.......wake the hell up!!!! That is not CATFISH, it's SWAI fish!!!!!!! You can get claws and tails! Slaw. Hush puppies. Fried pickles. Sweet tater fries. And GUMBO! Legit Gumbo. The spicy sausage, mussel, clam, chicken, rice in a spicy broth kind of gumbo. The kind that makes your tongue and tummy say thank you! The kind that entices you to drink the broth from the bowl. That Gumbo! This location is a seat yourself place. The tables seemed small considering the type of messy meals the restaurant serves. The long bar table with bench seating seems like the appropriate seating for a Seafood Shack. It would definitely encourage interaction and conversation and laughter. Servers are friendly enough. All were rather young. The music wasn't overbearing and the TVs were closed captioned. The seafood shack was unexpectedly good! We had the crawfish tail appetizer. They were cooked great with good flavor. The frog legs had a good bit of meat, tender, and juicy. We saw this restaurant when we were driving through town. The outdoor seating made us pull over and we were so glad we did. The combo platter with catfish and shrimp was incredible. We ordered extra corn and potatoes. Everything was fresh and felt like it was homemade. The sauces and spices were just different enough to make it very special and memorable. They were packed and it's a fairly small cozy place, but luckily there was nobody waiting before us so we got seated in about 20 minutes. I had a platter w/ catfish/shrimp/chicken, my wife got tilapia & shrimp, my youngest got a burger, and my oldest got a pound of crab legs with the house seasoning. Everything was fantastic. I'm proud that Marion has a restaurant that serves special food like this. And in a nod to previous reviews, they now serve hush puppies and they're great. I like ordering these spicy bags of seafood to go and enjoying them at home. But they also have $2 beers so sometimes I like to hang around. It seems a little pricey at first, especially when ordering for two, but it's still cheaper than a fancy sit-down restaurant, and not that much more than Kroger. OMGoodness! My husband and I are so glad we stopped here to have dinner on our trip back from Texas to our home in Southern Illinois. The food was AMAZING! I had never had deep fried corn on the cob until I had their Cajun Deep Fried Corn. It was SO GOOD! I had never had a Po'Boy sandwich of any type. We split an order of Catfish Po'Boy that came with fries and coleslaw. My hubby loves Po'Boy sandwiches of any type. This one was so delicious that I'm now a fan of Po'Boys! We also ordered the Gumbo and it was REALLY GOOD with a mixture of seafood and andouille sausage. The only thing I didn't like about it was the LARGE bowl it was served in as it took up too much space on the table. The food was so delicious and the place was very clean. I just wish we lived closer than 2 1/2 hours away because we would be dining here on a regular basis! Definitely worth the time we took out of our long drive home!!! Check out the online menu!!
