The worst, ordered the Atlantic and several people obviously did as well at the same time. We ordered medium spice and it came out fire hot. Several other platters came out around us. We asked if possibly ours was mixed up. We were told they would take it in the back and wash it off. I'm sorry but if I'm paying 90 for a seafood platter I don't believe it should be washed off. Passing through town and saw this little gem on Yelp. So glad I stopped in. I had the lunch catfish basket which came with 2 large, clean, catfish fillets, fries, coleslaw, hushpuppy and a roll. It was by far, the best catfish and french fries that I've ever had. Very lightly breaded and tasty and it's not greasy. My husband had the lunch Shrimp Basket and he said it was some of the best fried shrimp ever. I think our lunch specials were $8.99 each and they were large portions. Our server was Mel, and she was friendly and provided perfect service. Restaurant and rest rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. Lots of TVs with sports on. Incredible find! This little treasure was an awesome meal. Don't be fooled by the name or outside appearance. This is a relatively new restaurant and sports bar. It has many beers on tap, lots of killer fried seafood choices along woth gator and froglegs. It also has a boiled/steamed side of the menu that has a plethora of options. We were traveling through from Waco, TX and found this on Yelp. We had the catfish basket, grilled chicken, and the boiled shrimp bag. They were all great choices and served piping hot. The sweet potato fries were especially good with the catfish. We also got the deep fried corn for an appetizer and it has a slightly spicy tender crispy crust that was wonderful. The chicken had grilled peppers and onions alonf with a remoulade sauce. The shrimp bag was the most amazing choice. WOW! There are 5 choices of seasonings you could get. I got the house, which is a combination of all of them. The boil came in a bag, just as advertised. I dumped it out and peeled and ate. Dipped them in butter too. This place is amazing! We had crab legs, boiled shrimp and fried shrimp. It was the most delicious that I've ever had. When we pulled up to the place we almost didn't go in because the outside looked like a chain and we were looking for a local dive. The inside was decorated nicely with great atmosphere. It did not disappoint. Great food and the sweetest server. He took great care of us. We will most definitely return when we are back in the area. I have now tried the Seafood Shack on 2 different occasions. Second visit was probably 7 to 8 weeks after the first. On the first occasion we got the Sea Shells Bag (to go) due to Covid precautions. This bag comes with 2 Lobster Tails, 1/2 lb of Snow Crab, 1/2 lb Clam, 1/2 lb Mussel, 1/4 lb Large Gulf Shrimp, 1 Corn on the cob, 1 Sausage, & 1 Potato. The Lobster Tails were very good. Snow Crab and Gulf Shrimp were good as well. The Clams and Mussels were nothing great, but they were okay. Sausage and Potato were about what you would expect in a boil-n-bag. The Corn had to be tossed out. Old and hard like maybe it was cooked earlier and sat under a heat lamp. So on the second trip I tried the 3 piece catfish basket (to go) since Covid is still running rampant. First thing I noticed was the larger than normal catfish fillets. That's a plus. What I wasn't overly thrilled with was the dark spicy batter. Not really spicy hot, but just a slight kick. Just not my preference, but I'm sure there are others that would find it just fine. The cole slaw had larger than normal shreds of cabbage with not much seasoning. Once again it wasn't my preference, but I'll admit I'm a stickler for really good cole slaw. French fries were fine. More like seasoned fries. Also came with a very small sweet roll that looked like it was from a pack of frozen dinner rolls. According to the menu it should have also come with Hush Puppies (plural), but it only came with one. It was your typical small frozen hush puppy. I ordered Extra Tartar Sauce and that request was even printed on the ticket that was stapled to the sack. Unfortunately I received NO Tartar Sauce at all. So all in all this meal was somewhat of a disappointment. Mainly due to my personal preferences I suppose. In summary, I would have to say this place is okay, but not anything memorable. I can see from other reviews there are those that seemed to have better experiences than I did. Maybe the dine-in experience is much better. I won't be finding out any time soon due to the Covid precautions. I also know I can find much better catfish and cole slaw just down the road in the heart of old Marion at another Shack that also includes a lower price. Then again, all of this is just my personal opinion based upon 2 visits. I do wish them the best. read more

Staying at the Hampton Inn nearby. Was expecting a fast food type restaurant. Very pleasantly surprised that it was a sit-down restaurant with a full menu. I had the Shrimp Basket which was served with 8 large shrimp, a heaping serving of French fries, cole slaw and a hush puppy. All of the items were very good. My wife had the shrimp Po Boy. She could only eat half of it, so lucky for me, I got to eat my meal and half of hers. Lots of shrimp on the sandwich for under $10. I thought the service was good and the prices reasonable. So happy that we found this place on Yelp on our drive through the state! We ate lunch here a week ago, and I still can't forget how delicious it was. We had the fried crawfish tails to start. They were lightly breaded, so the actual crawfish was front and center, and even though I'm sure they were frozen crawfish, they seriously tasted fresh. We went all in after that. We had the Ocean Bag and the Steak and Crab Legs. The Steak was cooked nicely, but it was all about the seafood! I chose the cajun flavor, medium spice: highly recommend. Perfectly seasoned, every bite. No butter necessary. Huge shrimp, plenty of crab, loved the potatoes, and the corn was great as well, not the shriveled, overcooked corn you normally get in boil bags. Surprisingly to me, the Lobster was delicious! Lobster is almost always overcooked, no matter how you get it, and this was insanely perfect. We're just sad that Seafood Shack is too far away to get there regularly. Go there regularly if you live in the area! We want it to be there on our next drive through! read more

Had the most wonderful experience at Seafood Shack. The food was outstanding and plentiful. Mattie was our waitress but have to mention all waitresses working there tonight . They could teach the whole country a thing or two about self discipline and teamwork. These girls including their manager were serving as waitresses, bus people , sweepers , and garbage emptiers . They were hustling and always with a smile! They helped each other and didn't work in isolation. We had never been here (just driving through) and asked the waitress what she recommended and she said nothing. Probably should have been our first clue to leave. But we stayed....three of us (out of our party of five) do not eat corn or potatoes and asked if we could substitute for some grilled veggies. We were told no and if we wanted them they would be an additional $5. Really? Are you kidding me? I can substitute sides at fast food seafood restaurants. And we were ordering $30 dinners! We then asked if we could substitute coleslaw and was told they would need to check. They did allow that substitution but the attitude of the manager was terrible. As far as the food goes the steaks were over cooked and WAY over seasoned and the boiled shrimp was lousy. The crab legs were ok. This place is extremely overpriced for what you get. read more

I can handle when my order is wrong, but what I can't handle is when my order is wrong and there is no offer to fix it. I ordered the shrimp basket which should be fried shrimp and fries. Instead I got the shrimp bag that's seasoned boiled shrimp. I don't do boiled shrimp. Pointed out the mistake. Got an apology at least, but had to pay for a meal that I didn't eat. The food at this place was awesome. We had the fried alligator, which was fried perfect. We also steak and crab legs that were delicious. My daughter had the shrimp alfredo that she loved.
