Decent pub with Irish fare and ambiance. We came here recently because it was the closest place we could find with Mac and cheese on the menu for 2 little kids. We were able to be seated immediately at a table and kiddos got their own menus to color on. Service was decent. Food arrived in an acceptable time. Is like to give this a 3.5 star rating, so I went with 3 instead of 4 stars. The place is cute, reminiscent of pubs in Ireland. First time here, I was hoping for some Irish music, but there wasn't. I went with one of their traditional Irish dishes, Irish Stew with lamb shank over mashed potatoes. The sauce looked demi-glace, sort of transparent, not opaque like you would expect. I wouldn't call it stew, save for potatoes and carrots that are typically in stew. It tasted ok, for $30, I expected more. We shared the spinach artichoke dip and that was good. My boyfriend ordered a burger, and it was nothing special. Our server was good, she kept checking on us to get more drinks and clear plates. The Jameson and ginger and Guinness were good. We ordered the corned beef and cabbage. The good: corned beef was delicious, bartender was really great. The bad: the carrots, potatoes, and cabbage were not cooked, hard as a rock. They brought us more veg that was almost cooked, and no cabbage. We asked again for cabbage and they gave us a core and the outside leaves, not the actual cabbage, and everything was a salt bomb. It took 20 minutes to get the carrots and potatoes and another 20 mns to get the cabbage. Edit: we got our bill and they took the meal off without us asking. I appreciate that. Grabbed dinner here with a friend and the food was amazing! We tried the Rueban Wrap which was basically a huge Reuben egg roll and it was so flavorful. Then my friend got the burger and I got the Cajun Tenderloin Tips. They were fantastic- so melt in your mouth tender and flavorful! The kitchen was very accommodating with a substitution I requested. The staff were all friendly and kind. The restaurant itself is built like an Irish pub and has fun nooks and alcoves. I generally don't expect the most amazing food when I go to pubs but the food at Sean O'Callaghan's is elevated while the atmosphere retains a more comfortable vibe. Definitely recommend! read more

The server and hostess were very pleasant. The place is bigger than it looks and has different seating areas. I had the whitefish it was cooked very well the lemon caper butter was tasted good but it started to solidify by the time I got my plate. The fish had a crispy coating which was good. The potatoes and green beans were tasty. The other plates we had were the Reuben sandwich which looked really good but they didn't have horseradish but had this mustard with horseradish instead which was amazing. The hamburger was good. Decided to stop in here after searching for an Irish pub in the area. Being from out of town, we totally loved the location of this place. Right in downtown Plymouth, it is surrounded by cute shops and restaurants and has a friendly and authentic feel. On a warmer day, we would have chosen to sit outside and enjoy their patio while taking in the local traffic and sights. We were seated quickly on arrival at a high top (our choice), and our waitress was very attentive and fast. Our O'Callaghan's Burger was hot, juicy, perfectly medium-rare, and delicious. The Arugula and truffle-roasted garlic aioli elevated this burger, giving it an amazingly rich taste that kept us full for the rest of the day! There are a lot of great places up and down this street, and if you have the time, I'd recommend an after meal walk and checking them out. Especially after a big, Irish meal! read more

My husband and I love Sean's and are there at least once a week. The bartenders are always friendly, the vibe is always fun, and the food is excellent. What we've loved so far: Spinach dip Ahi tuna tower Fish n. Chips BOMB meatloaf And you have to get whatever their seasonal bread pudding is. This place is more of a restaurant than thought, I thought it was just a stereotypical bar. I got the Shepards Pie because I heard many people rave about it, but it didn't live up to my expectations. The flavor was good but the ratio of mash to the rest was uneven and I thought it was too soupy. We also had the pretzels and they were solid with a great honey mustard dipping sauce to pair. I appreciate a bar with a comfortable stool and super service. We arrived Saturday evening and found 4 seats at the bar. Windows were open, and there was even a cute dog there. I read the draft beer list and found one I wanted to taste. It wasn't for me, so I requested a taste of a second beer, and it was perfect, a light fruity nitro. So this is based on lunch. We stopped in and set up at the bar, we were greeted by a very energetic and very nice bartender. She was very helpful on our picks. She suggested the most popular from her customers she said she didn't want to influence on her personal taste, which I appreciate it. However, I can't say much for the taste of their customers. We ordered the shepherd's pie which was more like hamburger gravy with mashed potatoes, and I ordered the fish dinner which came with a single piece of fish that was not sturdy enough to hold up to a fork. The taste was in bed however it was very hard to eat because it was falling all over my plate. My friend that had the shepherd's pie said the flavor was good unfortunately the presentation and what it was supposed to be was not up to par at all. It has been over 20 years since I have been here and it is still good(as I no longer live in the area). We did carry out as it was crazy crowded(also the Friday before St Patty's day) even their takeout was yummy. There Rueben is little in the spicy side which was a pleasant surprise. I couldn't stop eating it; it was so good. Normally fries with take out are soggy. Not these they maintained some of their consistency. Blood orange Moscow mule! Well, hello! Now that was yummy! Love the twist on the classic drink! So that was the start of our dinner here! They have a great deal on burgers. Angus burgers starting at $2 and then you doctor it up. Looked like that was the happening thing last night! We opted for something different. We ordered the corned beef melt and the voodoo chicken pasta. The flavors were amazing! This may look like a pub, but man the food is great here! Who loves corned beef? Then made into a melt?! Omg! Well People I have been discriminated against twice at this place twice now being cut off by CLUELESS Bartenders for drinking what they thought was to much. Nice place to watch a football game. The waitresses were attentive and brought the bill quickly when we were finished. The food was delicious! The only thing I noticed was that there was a lot of Parmesan cheese on the salad as you can see in my picture, but it was still super yummy and I had lots leftover to bring home. read more

I came here strictly to get fish & chips to go for dinner. The place is very nice though and they offer outdoor seating which is ideal in downtown Plymouth. I didn't take pictures of the food that we got because by the time I came home it didn't look that great and I didn't want to do it Injustice. But after a few minutes in the air fryer the fish and fries came out wonderful and their tarter sauce is amazing. Came with a larger Meetup group, we were sat at 2 large tables, but only had one server. Tried his best at first, but didn't keep up on the drink refills. He did have a good knowledge of the menu. While many had the fish and chips, I had to try the Scotch eggs, which is an egg warped in sausage. Very good and I would order it again since the sausage has the right amount of sage. The dipping sauce that came with it was great. I also got the pretzel sticks with both cheese and mustard base sauces. I took 2 of the 3 home and they warmed up well. Both of these came from their small plates menu. I was saving room for the vanilla bean cheese cake with raspberry sauce. Half of that did come home and tasted just as good as there. The 20% gratuity added to the bills was a little high for the service and you know both EBS and I usually gave that or more for good service. If the Meetup group comes back, I will be with them, but will not make a special trip. read more

We are new to the area and have been visiting many of the restaurants in Plymouth. We received a " welcome new neighbor " gift card, so we thought we would give it a go. It is a typical Irish pub in all the good ways. Plenty of beers on draft, Irish whiskeys and a loud bustling atmosphere. We took two seats at the bar, it was a Friday night and it was busy. We ordered the chili, the steak sandwich and the Cuban sandwich. The chili I can say, was one of the best bowls of chili I've had in a long time. It had a deep rich flavor, with a hint of heat at the end. Both our sandwiches came with french fries and they were plenty and the sandwiches were very generous portions. My husband and I have been here only to grab some beers and to eat their Turkey Ruebens with a few local friends to meet up. I feel like turkey Rueben are a good safe item for an Irish pun fare. The huge wall of windows facing the street were thrown open so we could sit inside in the cool but still feel like we were outside. Lovely way to get the best of both worlds on a hot summer afternoon! We popped in for a quick beer and a Tigers game on TV (waiting for Cabrera's 500th hit). I think O'Callaghans offers the best tasting fish fry in Plymouth. However, they are also one of the more expensive too. Their tartar sauce is GREAT! The fish fillet is large, battered and fluffy. So, why the low rating. When I arrived and ordered my fish and chips (4 orders) the hostess was quick to help and give me menu. When I placed order she took my tel. # and I went outside to wait, and wait, and wait. Finally, I went in to find my order ready - Why take my phone number!!!!???? I was told it was just to hold my order - Come on O'Callaghan's, if you are taking an order with people standing outside, why not call them when it is ready. Second, the hostess could not ring up order. Three of us were literally watching the hostess trying to chase down busy waitresses to ring up the order. Not well organized!!! read more

Went to this place with a friend on a Friday for dinner. They had outdoor seating... but the tables were not set up so that people were socially distanced. The tables might have been 6 feet apart center to center... but with people sitting at the tables, people were essentially back to back. Food was decent. It was happy hour and they had 20 oz. draughts and select appetizers for $5. We started with the spinach artichoke dip. It was good but I found it odd that they used the round yellow corn chips that you get when you buy nachos at a sporting event. I got the O'Callaghan Burger. It was pretty good but I think the burger patty was a frozen one. You can usually tell it's a frozen burger when it's kinda dense and the edges are perfectly flat. The fries were good. My friend got the Shepherd's pie. It looked like a good size and she said it was good. The service was ok. Our waitress was wearing a mask and she was respectful. She did not bring small plates for the appetizer and I had to ask for ketchup for my fries. Those are usually basic things that you should be bringing without the customer having to ask. read more

Came in for an early dinner one Friday. The place was busy, but not packed; although I think they started a wait list not long after we sat down. The place has a great vibe and you can tell that locals really enjoy it. Our sever was super friendly. I had the bangers and mash, which I loved. The brown gravy was probably the best I've had in a long time. I also loved the snap of the sausages and the potatoes were great as well. My only complaint is that service was slow. Our server was handling a lot of tables. I know a lot of places are having a hard time filling all their server shifts, so I am not going to dwell on it.
