I'm updating my review. I originally posted a lesser than stellar review, but at the end of the day, Seaside Vacations did the right thing and followed through with a reasonable resolution. The place we stayed was nice. It was great for a family and it was in reasonably good condition. For folks who are traveling via airplane, just be aware that the units aren't really stocked with anything. It's not super well advertised about this, but I did later find it in a subsection somewhere. No beach towels, a couple rolls of toilet paper, one trash bag, that was about it. So a bit of an inconvenience for a family flying in from across the country. So plan to bring everything you need to be self-sufficient. We did not have functioning internet or wifi for the week. read more

Bad experience I have been coming to the outer banks for years; using Seaside was one of the worse decisions I have ever made. Had many issues with the property that I rented from a urine-stained bed to broken bed frames, ripped cushions on the outside furniture. The property, in my opinion was in no way the same condition as the pictures online. It was in no way worth the premium price I paid!! I arrived Monday and called Seaside to address the issues; I was told that they were too busy to call back. I finally got a call back on Thursday. I Sent pictures of the damage as I was asked to do, did not hear back! Sent several emails, no reply! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! read more

The property's condition is misrepresented in marketing materials, and the lack of customer service is unacceptable for a premium rental. ________________________________________ Management Failure & Lack of Professionalism I am writing this follow-up because I am appalled by the total lack of customer service from Seaside Vacations. Following a negative stay and the subsequent submission of photos documenting the property's degraded condition, I expected a standard professional acknowledgment or an attempt at resolution. Instead, my concerns have been met with silence. As a retired military member currently working in maintenance planning and scheduling for the military, the lack of attention to detail and upkeep at this property is glaringly obvious. Ignoring a dissatisfied guest who has provided documented proof of negligence is a blatant disregard for guest satisfaction. ________________________________________ Documented Property Issues The following table summarizes the specific maintenance and safety concerns encountered during the stay, which contradict the property's online listing: Category Description of Issue Exterior/Parking Bushes are overgrown into the parking area; loose nails were found scattered in the driveway. Hot Tub Scum buildup on walls; broken lift; cover underside is peeling and falling into the water. Safety & Security Sliding glass door latch is broken; maintenance failed to fix it, leaving the home unable to lock. Plumbing Upstairs master shower leaks onto the floor, creating a significant slipping hazard. Privacy Multiple bathrooms were missing blinds; maintenance failed to install them despite requests. Amenities Volleyball net is unusable; grill area was left dirty; pool hose left out as a tripping hazard. Supplies Property failed to provide a basic starter kit as advertised. ________________________________________ Final Assessment The misleading marketing and absent management at Seaside Vacations achieved the exact opposite of the "under-promise and over-deliver" business standard. I will not be returning to this location, and I will be sharing these documented issues with my network of friends and family who frequently visit the Outer Banks. I rented a home for a week. Arrived the house was not thoroughly cleaned, went to wipe up some water on the floor and the papertowel was black. We reported the TV was not working on day 2 but the repairman didn't show up until day 5. We had a pool on the property which worked great until day 4 when the pump stopped working. They said it was serviced prior to our arrival. The response from the company was an offer of a $100 voucher if we stay with them again....so stupid! read more

It was a nice house and could have been a great experience. We were told the house was ready, so we went. They don't make the beds. The first thing I noticed was the bottom sheet had a rip in it. Nice. Sat on the sofa and saw a yellow piece of something. It was a candy wrapper mostly under the sofa. The oven was 3 or 4 inches from the wall for some reason. It was a 10 bedroom house. We did not bring batteries, so we were constantly looking for a remote that worked. The ceiling fans never did work as the remotes were dead. We swapped out some batteries in the unused bedrooms for TV remotes. The non stick cookware must have stuck at some time becuase it was all scratched up. Broken glass casserole dish among other issues. After our stay, we let them know what we thought. Response? $100 off your next stay. Big whoop. Why would we stay with you again? How about returning the clening fee? I let them know what we wanted to make it right. I told them that my online reviews would reflect whatever action they decided to take. Unfortunately, I am FORCED to give them a single star. Should have sub-zero rating. Horrible, filthy and UNSAFE FIRE HAZARD property at 761 Sea Mist Court in Corolla. It's called the "Surf and Terp" house. Should be renamed "Dirt and Turd". The filth we tried our best to clean, however their lack of response to a SPARKING ceiling fan is unacceptable. They were called multiple times, (spoken to personally) sent pictures, texts and emails. NO RESPONSE or actions to fix the issues of the house. If I could leave a 0 review I would worst vacation ever! We rented Queen Elizabeth's Castle. This house was trashed! There was garbage in all the cans and bags of garbage in the driveway. Garden shovels laying in the backyard, dirty dishes in the yard on the ground. Nails all over the back yard in the sand. Yard furnature was colored in sand from the shovels. Inside the house we found a traffic cone in the livingroom, food on the carpets, water bottles and beer cans in the house and on all porches, dirty dishes in the dishwasher, all surfaces were dirty, couch cushions upside down. Beer tabs all over and in the hot tub. Pronographic photos tucked into the guestbook!! (which our 9 year old grandson found) we call the property manager and they sent a guy to pick up the garbage when we asked about the mess he said he was not the cleaning crew. We spent hours cleaning. The hot tub was broken for 5 days of our 7 day stay. We called numerous times. At the end of it all the refunded $400 which was not enough to rectify ruining our trip and not correcting the issues. This conpany does not care. Use any other vacation rental company. read more

We decided to come back because the photos on seaside vacations website are exactly how they were ten years ago but I was mistaken. When we first got here we noticed the garage was literally pushed in with crap falling out everywhere, the grass hadn't been cut in weeks. The ONLY house on the entire street with grass that's 2 ft high. The pool area, the pool cover was just thrown in the middle of the walkway in a giant green bag. we had deck boards coming up everywhere with rusty nails popping out. We have called twice so far to have them come clean the pool, the pool guy hasn't come at all to clean it. There's weeds growing up all through the deck boards. The grill smells like something crawled up and died inside of it. We had a neighbor getting their grass cut and the guy cutting the grass shot rocks all over the place and cracked our windshield. I called seaside vacations the day it happened and they told me "well don't you have insurance for that"? I think the landscapers they hire should be insured and should have to fix our windshield but of coarse we have called numerous times and havnt heard back. The carpet inside is a disgusting stained mess, the microwave is falling apart. There were yellow stains all over our bedding and stuff splattered on the drapes. Dead bugs in the corners of the house, literally the day we checked in so the house wasn't cleaned. Trash under the beds and behind the dressers. Rat Poop all over the insulation behind the washer bd dryer. This house IS NOT what is advertised on seaside vacations website or any other website it's on. It is AWFUL. I have stayed at almost 80% of the houses on this street and I have never experienced something as dirty and disgusting as this. Seaside Vacations. I have been traveling to OBX from my hometown of Charlottesville, VA since the late 1980's and have rented from numerous rental agencies. I have never had a home left in the condition our rental was last week. The following items were called into the Hospitality Department. Additionally, I provided pictures to the crew and requested that a cleaning crew be sent over immediately. Upon checking into the home, we had the following cleanliness issues: * Old sandwiches wrapped in paper stuffed in bedroom drawer * Neosporin Ointment hanging in windowsill * Blood stains on pillows, mattress covers, pillowcases etc in Duo bunk room * Nail on Floor of King Bedroom that my husband stepped on * Cheetos under Bed * Used tissue behind bedframe on floor * Broken lamp * Only 1 towel per adult was left at the house * Dirty plates under the bed with food remnants on them * A panti-liner stuck to a picture in one of the bedrooms There were also maintenance issues with the home: * 2-3 inches of standing water in the outdoor shower area that stayed all week * Leaking kitchen sink where the rental company had left pans underneath the kitchen sink to catch the water After viewing the guest book for this home, there were multiple entries about the lack of cleanliness from the realty company. The guests from the prior week indicated that the home was left a mess for them as well. A runner arrived at 7:30 pm on Saturday July 8, 2023. The runner dropped off new bedding and left. Patti, your hospitality manager called me to let me know that she would be meeting with her department to discuss compensation for our stay and would be back in touch with me on Friday, July 14, 2023. I informed her at that time that I was not interested in renting from your company again and did not want any discount on another stay at the particular property. I requested to be compensated with a check. As of today, I have heard nothing from your company. I called and left a message for Patti Morrison at 11:15 this morning and still have heard nothing. Will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB. Before renting with this company, check their reviews with the BBB, Facebook, etc. You will see there is a systemic problem with this company. read more

Seaside rentals was a nightmare. we rented for two weeks and ran out of propane (For hot water) in the beginning of the second week. They sent out two techs in four hours to tell us we had no gas. The after hours call service is managed out of state (yes, out of state) and the people working in the office have no clue. The manager refused to get on the phone to speak to us about the issue and the gal on the phone could get us off quick enough. Save yourself some headaches and money. Dragonfly Cove-We had a horrible experience with Seaside Vacations in the Outer Banks. The home we rented was falsely advertised with beautiful pictures. Upon arrival the home looked like a dump. The stairs leading up to the home were rickety and about to fall down the wood siding was falling apart. Inside the home it smelled like mold. The furniture was falling apart and the doors to the rooms wouldn't shut. There were cracks in the overhead beams and lots of holes in the walls/patches where it appears water damage. They have you check in after 5 p.m. and office is closed. Indicator of poor customer service as well. They told us everything was cosmetic and nothing they could do or cared to do. This ruined our vacation as we couldn't stay in such a place. It was dirty and poorly cared for. Roaches, bugs, and more... Never again. read more

This review is for their QCB5-Shell House Condo rental and lack of customer service. I'll start with the good before explaining all the issues we encountered with the condo. First of all, the location of the condo is excellent. Steps away from the beautiful beach with access to an outdoor shower and clean outdoor pool. Also close to a lot of Nags Head amenities. However, there were several problems around cleanliness, maintenance and customer service. I've made a list of all the issues we encountered and can provide pictures of most of the listed items. - 2 Large Cockroaches in Wet Bar / Dining Area - Kitchen - Dirty dishes with food scraps when we arrived - Kitchen - Dirty utensils drawer with food scraps and dirt when we arrived - Dining Area - Wheel was broken off of dining chair leg when we arrived - Master Bedroom - Corroded sliding door handles on patio - Master Bedroom - Broken outlet cover on patio - Master Bedroom - Sunken outlets on the floor - Could not use them - Master Bedroom - Broken screen door handle - Master Bathroom - Ripped shower curtain liner - Only covered half - Master Bathroom - water damage on tile/tub area with cracking tiles - 2nd Bedroom Top Floor - Some kind of animal droppings by bed - 3rd Bedroom on 2nd Floor - Significant water damage on ceiling - Lots of carpet stains throughout the condo - Worst of all, they offered a free cleaning mid-week, so we adjusted our plans to make sure we were out of the unit for the cleaners. The cleaners never showed up and when I called and emailed Seaside Realty to follow up, no one ever returned my voicemail or email. Had the cleaners showed up or had they returned my follow-up calls or emails, we could have overlooked many of the items listed. My family and I were so excited to spend our vacation in a Seaside Vacations home. However, when we arrived it didn't take long for us to encounter our three biggest issues with the property we rented: it was dirty, dated, and infested with roaches. In terms of cleanliness, we booked this home during COVID after being assured that this company was going above and beyond to clean and sanitize their rental homes. But there was dust everywhere, some kind of mark on the bathroom floor that looked like a bodily stain, a discarded lollipop stick on one of the windowsills, and toys and crumbs underneath the sofa from one of the last families that stayed there. This suggests to me that the place was not cleaned to COVID standards, if at all. The company said they would send a housekeeper to clean it, but the point was we booked this home to vacation while socially distancing. It should have been clean enough already. After wiping everything down ourselves, we woke up our first morning to discover the cockroach problem. There were roaches in the foyer, roaches in the television room, a roach on the ceiling, another one in the kitchen, and a pair in the master bedroom. When I tried speaking with the management company about it, they told me that I was mistaken: the roaches were "water bugs" or "Palmetto bugs." It made me laugh actually, taking me back to my twenties when a Brooklyn landlord tried to gaslight me in the same way. Take it from me or Google: water bugs and Palmetto bugs are kinder, gentler words for "large American cockroaches." The company offered to send someone out to spray, but again: we booked this home to vacation while social distancing. And I wasn't about to have anyone in my family, including my two young children, sleep in a freshly fumigated home on vacation. By far the most disappointing thing about our 3-day stay in this property (we were supposed to stay for the week but packed up and left early) was the lackluster response from the management company. Their response was basically, "what do you want us to do about it?" Well, we wanted them to make this right. We wanted more than a "shrug" and "whatever" attitude from the client relations specialist. I get that the Outer Banks is busy right now, but through my own legwork I was able to find other places for my family to stay, including a property listed with Seaside and another company that partners with brokers like Seaside to deal with situations like these. It's sad that I got more empathy from Seaside's competitors than I got from the company to whom we entrusted a handsome sum of our hard-earned money to provide a safe, comfortable, and clean home for our family vacation. Needless to say, we will never book a home with this company again and I urge you, dear reader, to think twice before you do. read more

SO5C - CASTLE ROCK - Linens did not match bed (received queen for the bedroom has with a king). The main issue, and reason for the 1-star rating: FALSE ADVERTISING. Amenities for this unit indicate "Interior: washer and dryer" which means a washer and dryer INSIDE the unit (the definition of interior... in case Seaside Vacations forgot English). However, this unit has NEITHER a washer or dryer inside. Instead, the building has COIN-OPERATED COMMUNAL laundry machines (that are kinda if sh!#&y). Definitely NOT recommending this unit. As for Seaside Vacations, this is our first time in OBX, so it's difficult to fairly rate the entire company based on one unit... but, after falsely representing one of their units on their website, I will never rent from them again, and I do NOT recommend them because of this misrepresentation. UPDATED (2 days later): We received notices on our vehicles that we need a parking pass or our vehicles may be towed. Seaside Vacations said nothing, not a word, about parking passes for this location. Definitely, without a doubt, NEVER using them again. read more

House: The Fifth Line in Corolla. 13 of us stayed here in July. The floors were filthy when we got there so I took a white washcloth and got down on my hands and knees and washed the floors(pic of dirty washcloth). There was mold in the caulk in the bathroom. The screen door on the enclosed porch on the upper floor was ripped out and just flapping in the breeze. The 2 HVAC filters were FILTHY and my sons in law had to change them. They looked like they had a year's worth of dirt on them. 1 of the ceiling vents in a bedroom had what looks to be black mold in it. We did not discover this until right before we left and it was just by sheer luck that we found it because we went looking thru the entire house after 4 people in our group came down with respiratory symptoms a couple of days after we got there. I wish we had taken a q-tip and swabbed the black stuff but we didn't so of course we had no recourse. We did get our cleaning fee back however that is a small consolation for 4 people getting sick and missing out on their vacation. And it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to get back to me. We loved our stay at the Merry Mermaid in Nags Head. The place was VERY clean on our arrival. Happy that it's pet friendly and a 3 minute walk to ocean and sand. Nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath with laundry and lots of deck furniture. Also pet friendly, which we were happy we could bring our dog along. There is a lot of traffic going by the house, but we were willing to trade it for the short walk to the beach. Only wish there were screens on the doors so that we could enjoy the cool sea breezes while visiting in October read more

SEASIDE MORE LIKE RIP OFF NIGHTMARE I brought my 3 children, my mother, my grandmother, my dog and my grandmothers therapy dog away for 4th of July week vacation to OBX. Unfortunately, Our vacation stay in a seaside home was less than impressive. The home we stayed in was over $4500 for the week. That's not cheap so you have certain expectations. I don't know where to start...we arrived and after driving nearly 6 hours I immediately headed to the restroom only to find no toilet paper. Then went to wash my hands only to find the soap dispenser empty. Not only empty but it was new and never used. The house itself was nice but ill equipped but it felt like it was a model home meant for show not use. We had 6 people the house could sleep a max of 10. In the master bedroom where my mother and elderly grandmother were staying had no dresser and when they went to hang their clothing in the closet it was locked! Forcing them to live out of a suitcase for the whole week. We decided to grab dinner then go to the grocery store for the week. In the morning we cooked eggs and went to set the table but there were only enough settings for 4 people! We literally had to take turns eating but when we tried to wash dishes to take turns eating breakfast we discovered that the kitchen sink was completely broken the faucet was held up with tin foil and there was nothing provided to even clean the dishes with. There was no foil or barely any type cooking necessities, no type of baggies or storage for leftovers and with only 4 plates we couldn't afford to use them for storage. We had to go back to the store to buy things to cook and store, toilet paper, paper towels, baggies, paper plates, plastic ware, foil, serving trays, dish sponges, hand soap, dish soap....etc. it was ridiculous. I've stayed in homes all over the world and I have never rented one so ill prepared for actual guests. After the fiasco of breakfast we went to shower to discover no hot water. We also were only given six towels and washcloths for 6 ppl for a weeks which were laying on our beds because no bathroom had any towel hooks so before and after you showered there was no place to put your towel to keep it clean. We emailed seaside to address our list of complaints and they sent a repair man the following day but he only fixed the hot water issue. It stormed every evening we stayed and we had a pool but only a small net to clean it. It was dirty and full of debris every night. We requested again for our issues to be addressed and we were told the owner said they would "reimburse us for paper plates". The issue was not the cost of the paper plates clearly. The issue was if you are renting a home for 6-10 people then it should be equipped for 6-10 people. If we wanted to eat off paper plates we could saved 5k and gone camping! The evening of my mothers birthday our 3 rd day there (with our issues not fixed still) we planned a cook out on the grill. After prepping all the food and carrying it out we discover only one of the four grill burners we're working. We ended up just cooking our food on the stove because we were all hungry. We added the grill to our list. Finally on day 4 a woman showed to clean our pool and saw our dogs out back and immediately left without a word to us. Within 10 minutes a rep from seaside arrived. We were cooking breakfast and getting ready to leave for the water park but ecstatic someone finally came to address our issues. However the woman came in asked for my id then brought a copy of my bill for the home and my lease which she put on the counter for all to see. The trip was a gift to my mother so having the bill waved in front of her was not ideal but the woman continued and told me we were not authorized to have pets and that the owners were furious and we had until the end of the hour to board them or get out. When we booked the home we specifically filtered for pet friendly. She said well that's a website issue not my issue and your lease says that you will be fined $200 for any unauthorized pets. The lease that I was given only after I had paid my deposit on what I thought to be a pet friendly home. We had been there 4 days at that point. We wouldn't have rented if we knew. Meanwhile my grandmother is in tears over the thought of boarding her dog. I ask if we can just leave and get refunded the remaining days because we were unhappy as it was. The woman said no but we could move to another home that had a cancellation. I looked at the home and it was smaller, older, no pool but I said fine let's leave here then she said it would be a $700 charge to move! So we decided our only choice was to board the dogs. I was then told that the owners were holding me responsible also to clean all the rugs and the upholstery in the home! Despite the fact that neither dog was on any of the furniture nor did either of them have any type of accident. read more

If I could give these people 0 stars I would. The expensive beach house we rented for our week long anniversary getaway had a rat infestation, 3 of the beds had rat feces on the linens where my 4 and 8 year old niece and nephew would have slept. After repeated calls to Seaside management they sent someone to search for the rat and to change the bed clothes. Then on the 4th day the house was swarmed by thousands of flying, biting insects. They swarmed inside the house when we opened the door and covered everything. We could not stay any longer because they were biting my wife and two dogs. So on our anniversary night we had to pack all of our possessions we could fit and drive 7 hours back home in the dead of night, because no hotel was available. When I called the manager on duty at Seaside vacations and sent them pictures and videos of the swarm of thousands of insects swarming inside and outside the home, they said they were just "midges" and offered to send maintenance out to "vacuum them up" lol. It would have been funny if it wasnt such a horrific experience. They have since refused any liability or any refund and basically told us to go away. I stayed at Lighthouse Pointe with a large group of 12. We stayed during the week of 8/21/21 - 8/28/21. Myself and one other were sharing the large master room on the 3rd floor. The place was poorly cleaned prior to arrival but we overlooked all that for the large home and views. Upon waking up after our first night we noticed several bed bugs crawling in the bed. Blood was also observed on the sheets. Upon further inspection, a very large infestation was found under the mattress, and around the box springs. This cluster was large enough that it was most likely there for several weeks. From that point on it was very difficult dealing with Seaside as everyone kept blaming the owner of the home. They refused to move us due to us possibly contaminating another property. It took 1/2 the day before an inspector came out to verify our complaint. The inspector observed more bed bugs in other rooms and in a living room. They made us spend one night on air mattresses until a treatment could be done on the 3rd day of our vacation. Even after the treatment they refused to move us. During the treatment several personal pillows were missing and never brought back to the home. One elderly mother decided to avoid the trip entirely because of the situation and did not want to risk bringing anything home. When we brought up compensation for the extremely terrible experience we were faced with, Seaside wanted to push off the discussion till we returned home. Seaside then gave us a joke of a refund that they said was up to the owner of the home. The refund is a small fraction to what we payed for in total for the entire week. This incident doomed our vacation from the start and was 110% avoidable. It took nearly 2 minutes of moving the mattress to notice the large infestation. It is disgusting to think the poor family who stayed before us probably never knew what they were sleeping in and most likely brought something home. I'm sure Seaside has not notified the previous vacationers. Whether the blame falls on Seaside, the owner, or cleaning service; in my opinion everyone is at fault and someone should take responsibility for the vacation we lost. read more

The only problem we had was that one evening me and my son were getting ready to go to dinner and my husband was in the shower. I heard the keyless code being entered, and our door opened. A man stuck his head in, and said I'll turn the light off for you. I was so shocked. We called seaside vacation and we're informed by someone that the owner of the property has a friend that sometimes checks on the unit. This person had no right to enter the condo while occupied. Seaside has a Tennant enter a code when checking out. This person was not employed by seaside and I have stayed with them In the past. I have been pleased with seaside vacations, but this experience would keep me from renting this rental again. read more

I'm very disappointed in Seaside Vacations. My reservation is for 5/23 - 5/31, 2020. I have tried to postpone this visit because no restaurants, bars or Welcome Centers are open. They refuse to work with me. I have a 3000 mile drive to visit Nags Head. It is difficult to justify this drive when the majority of the island catering to tourists is closed. My reservations with Seaside through Vacation Network Inc are very disappointing. read more

We booked an Airbnb through this company back in February and just this morning they canceled our reservation with a very vague description for the cancellation. We will definitely make sure we don't reserve an Airbnb that is associated with this company in the future. We were able to find a place believe it or not but it is not dog friendly. The new place is a little more expensive and now we will have to board our pets $$$. read more

BB47 - A wave from it all was not good . This was my 4th year renting with Seaside Vacations for the Outerbanks. I will say this was my worst year with Seaside vacations. The house was really. ice but no one contacted me about the upper ac unit being broken. They put units in the 3 bedroom windows but the bathrooms were so hot and no air in there while we were trying to get ready. The upstairs game room was unbearably hot and we could not bear to be up there. This was one of the reasons why we rented the house so the kids go up there and hang out and play games . Even though there were stand up fans it wasn't enough. My second day there someone was knocking on the door to let us know he needed to come and look at the hvac for an estimate. The rental office never notified me that someone was coming until a day later. Well that was too late. The refrigerator freezer does not make nice , no big deal since they left an ice maker. Well when we opened it up there was water sitting in it for some time and the machine started to get moldy . We contacted the office about it and they did send someone but I bought Vinegar and a good brush to clean it all out. Maybe the cleaning people should have checked it. I made sure to empty it and leave the lid open when I left. The sheets that they gave us did not fit the bed. I had a king bed and they gave me a twin sheet and it was labeled King. The queen sheet also did not for the bed. I do not know what happened with the rental company this year. Then on our last day my daughter was letting me know that the hvac people were knocking on the door and when she came down they had entered the house without us letting them in. People were still sleeping and how do the rental company give the code to the door while I am still in the house. Once again I was not notified about this. Very bad communication on their end. Had a hard time getting our stuff out in and into the car with the hvac people and van in my way. I paid a lot to rent this house out for the week and it was not worth it. I think I will look into a different rental company for next year. When I called to complain all they gave me was the late check out fee back. I know I won't get back what I paid but I should get back more than $75 for compensation. If this is how you treat your customers , then I don't think I will do business with you. read more

It took some time with many emails, but happy to say that Seaside responded to our complaint. They were fair and generous.

My family stayed in a home managed by seaside vacations and we had a fantastic time. The home was on the smaller side but perfect for us. It was well stocked, cozy, and had a beautiful sound front view. You could tell the owners cared for their home and the families that chose to stay there. I do have a few gripes about the cleanliness of the home. First being, dog hair all over the carpets (clearly no vacuuming occurred). Second, large amounts of dust on the fans and vent in the living room wall. Third, an atrocious amount of mold/mildew build up on the shower doors. ( atrocious to me, possibly ignorable to others). Fourth, spiders and bugs galore all over the outside of the house. On the stairs, the decks, the garage- full of creepy crawlers! (None found in the house- thank goodness!) I did not complain to management as they did allow us to check in early (20 minutes) and the customer service woman that I spoke to was extremely friendly. She told me no one had been to the home yet to do the final cleaning check but we could go ahead and enter so long as we left the person in when they arrived. No one ever came to check the home. Overall, the things that weren't cleaned didn't cause any major impediment to our stay. I can understand the cleaning not being 100% to every persons standards when there are so many properties to be cared for within a certain timeframe for continuous stays over the summer. For the home, location and price, I can disregard some dust and avoid contact with mildewed shower doors. read more

I just started researching our trip to OBX this coming summer, and saw that Seaside Vacations had a low Yelp rating, and felt compelled to review them here! I cannot believe the bad ratings, though one review looks like it was just of the home, not the service that Seaside provides. We have used Seaside to rent our Beach house 4 times, and have had a great experience each time! ANY minor issue that came up was always taken care of so quickly and painlessly that we have always felt like we are their top priority. They make reservations, check-in and check our super easy, and I like that all their homes come with linens so you don't have to add that into the price when you are comparing! I will very likely use Seaside again this year! read more

Last summer for our first trip to OBX (yep, been there once, I have now earned the right to use that abbreviation) we rented a house through Seaside. The website is very informative, you get to see the property, the location, availability dates in real time without having to submit a request first, pricing based on the rental week, and the list of amenities both specific to the property and general amenities for all Seaside rentals. You're able to pay your deposit online through the website and sign off on everything electronically. Some places are still operating through snail mail and faxes which is acceptable, but not all that convenient so I appreciate that Seaside is up on current tech. Some properties have lock boxes, others require you to pick up your keys from the rental company. Unfortunately, our house was not equipped with the lock box and that was a small annoyance, but really the only one I had with the entire rental process. The rental company is located right on the main highway, so it is local and only about a 10-15 minute drive from the furthest property. We had an issue with our hot tub and someone was out to drain, fix and refill it within 4 hours of the call. When returning our keys at the end of the trip we were offered first dibs on the property for the same week the following summer at the current rates which would be a discount since prices go up yearly (everywhere). I did appreciate this and probably would've taken advantage of it if we hadn't been planning on moving this summer and were unsure of our finances. Overall an excellent experience. read more

The house was apparently alright, until the cockroaches came out day 3ish. They advertised that there was a volleyball court in the backyard, which it didnt have. I left a backpack on accident in the house and realized it was there after we got home from a long road trip. So I called, and they told me they would call me back. However never did so I had to call them, then the lady personally sent my case to the ground team. The next day I was again waiting on a call I never got. So I called and they had to get my information again, after giving it the day before. Then they call me back 5 mins later telling me that it was already at the shipping place. It could have been handled a lot better. No discount for the false advertising or cockroaches btw. Other than those things it was an enjoyable house with highly uncomfortable furniture. However, the distance from the beach was great, we also had problems with the DVD player, and the next day we had a repair man bring a brand new one to our place. read more

We've used Seaside the past two summers. Loved both houses, especially Bonzai Landing in Rodanthe this year. Breathtaking views! The only issue we had was with the hot tub, which wasn't working properly. I wish it could have been fixed during our stay, but certainly not a deal breaker with all of the other awesome amenities. Other than that, the house was perfect, the location was awesome, the team at Seaside were great. Will definitely be booking with them next year. read more

Loved it! Our vacation condo was clean and well appointed even though we were at the end of the season. Two minor issues were immediately addressed and all staff contacted were super nice. Hopefully we will be repeat customers soon. Missing that beach already! read more

Seaside was friendly and helpful from the beginning of searching for a rental in OBX. Looking at all of the different properties from different companies is definitely overwhelming, but Seaside looked to have some great properties. We stayed at Gulf Stream Condos in KDH milepost 8. Seaside staff was great. Answered the phone quickly during the process and helped with questions and concerns. The unit was clean and welcoming. They didn't leave enough towels, but quickly dropped more off. The unit itself was also great. Clean, welcoming, and had a fantastic view of the ocean and a back entrance/exit straight to the pool and ocean. Plenty of seating inside and out and nice quiet area on the beach. Some regular midweek cleaning of public areas of the units would be great since there were some messes left by others. Overall good experience with Seaside and this property--highly recommend. read more

I'm writing this review both of the realty company Seaside Vacations and the house Graham Slam. We rented the house for a family vacation. The pictures on the website must have been taken a while back - the house is shabby. Also, not very clean - and that is something that they could easily remedy. We, grandparents, nieces and nephews, were all a bit concerned about the state of the steps going from the top deck down to the pool. They seemed to have too much give when stepped on. And guess what?! Going down to the pool one day a step gave way under us - thank goodness the kids had already gone down. Luckily no one was hurt. When we took time to examine the steps we could see that they were too short for the opening and that the nails were starting to come out on the top. My husband immediately called Seaside Vacations. They didn't even ask if anyone got hurt. It was just "Oh. We'll send someone over." I wrote a review of the house for the Seaside Vacations website and they never posted it. They have no interest in the truth or in improving things. Next trip to the Outer Banks will be through another rental company. read more

Blessed By the Sea Finale, Southern Shores, NC We rented Blessed By The Sea Finale, in Southern Shores, NC for a week in June, 2019. There are many wonderful qualities about this house - nice pool, well stocked kitchen and great location, close to the beach. HOWEVER, we discovered that the house was infested with Palmetto bugs, which is a polite term, in NC, for cockroaches. We reported the problem to Seaside Vacations on Monday at 8:30am as soon as the offices had opened. The interior of the house was not treated until 6pm on Tuesday. By then, my son and his children had left to go home - they couldn't be comfortable with the bugs crawling around the house. I visited a friend on the OBX on Mon night, as well, but returned to the house on Tues to meet the exterminator and try to salvage my vacation. On Wednesday, I began to find dead bugs laying on the LR and kitchen floors. Each morning, I cleaned up dead bugs. Seaside Vacations offered me $200 in vacation vouchers for a future rental, and the owners gave me a $200 refund, for my troubles (the house was about $2800 for the week's rental). This does not even begin to compensate me for a lost vacation with my family. My husband drove down from Maryland to help me on Tuesday, and we tried to salvage the vacation, but gave up on the dead bug clean up and left on Friday morning. Seaside Vacations continued to tell me how common these bugs are in NC and especially in Southern Shores. So if you, or your children have a problem with bugs, you may want to stay clear of the Southern Shores area, and be very careful before renting Blessed By the Sea Finale. I will upload pictures of the dead bugs found in the LR and kitchen after the extermination. I just don't want another family to go through what my grandchildren and family went through. Worst vacation ever. read more

We stayed at OBX Attitude. When we first got to the house on Saturday September 3 we were so happy! The house and setting were perfect and beautiful. Then it goes downhill from there. As we disbursed out to the bedrooms we were met with beds that were not made and absolutely filthy bedding, pillowcases and blankets that had stains on them. There was sand in the beds. We called guest services 20 minutes into our stay. After several people in the party had to go and purchase bedding because of how dirty the linens were. We then went out to the pool... garbage, water bottles, food stains on the pavement and a kiddie pool and main pool loaded with sand. The floors were so dirty that our socks and feet were black! The furniture was so dirty and stained we would not let the kids lay in the furniture without a blanket on them. Two hours later they showed up to give us "clean bedding" and pick up the garbage in the pool area but, they forgot to clean the mess by the pool. We received an email a couple hours before we checked in that the washer and dryer were not working properly and a new set was to be delivered on Tuesday....(more on that later). On Sunday, day 2 we found out that the refrigerator water and ice machine were not working. noticed an ice machine .... then we opened it to find that it was so dirty that the ice had rust color to it so we called maintenance to come out and fix it. The grill was so dirty it could not be used absolutely disgusting they sent someone out, The problem was that it was on Monday. When maintenance finally showed up he looked at the fridge and said "we don't work on Samsung appliances" I then asked if he was going to work on the ice machine and he said "It looks like it needs to be cleaned, I do not have anything to clean it with" I will make a note and let seaside know. On Tuesday we were waiting for the new washer and dryer to be delivered at about 5pm I called Seaside to find out when they were coming to deliver the new machines, the gentleman was truly shocked that it was not delivered so he call Lowe's and sent me an email that now they were not being delivered until Thursday. There were 19 people in the house that did not pack heavy because we could wash some clothes if we needed to. As evening came on tuesday someone finally came to vacuum the pools. As some of the group went to the hot tub to relax they noticed that only half of the jets were working now on the hot tub so they let the pool guy know and he said "I don't work on the hot tub but I will have someone come out Wednesday". Wednesday was uneventful. All we did was wait for maintenance to come out to fix the fridge and ice machine, which never happened and nobody showed up to fix the hot tub. Thursday, we just accepted the fact that the vacation company did not give to S**T about all the problems so we just tried to make do and enjoy the last few days of our vacation. Then all of a sudden at around 5pm the washer and dryer showed up! WAHOO something got done! As Thursday came to an end all we had was a semi clean pool and the partially working hot tub, no ice (we ended up spending about $80 just in ice) and then... you guessed it, the hot tub stopped working completely with no heat or jets so we called maintenance again and of course nobody showed up. As Friday rolled in and someone finally showed up to clean the pool and still nobody came to fix the hot tub, fridge, or either ice machines. There were holes in the walls where they had to reattach the toilet paper holders. There was so much dust on the blinds we were afraid to open or close them. The kitchen sink leaked everywhere because there was no seal between the sink and counter. The only thing holding the sink were the clips and the plumbing. We were looking for my sons wallet and had to lift the cushions on the furniture, boy was that a mistake. Screens were torn, some were laying on the ground next to the house. When we talked to Mallory, the property manager for that house she said "well, it is the end of the season so the properties do get a little beat up" I was floored when she said that. So in other words we only worry about it early in the season. When I asked the property manager the last time she was in the house she said 2 to 3 weeks ago... Really? We could tell!!! Thank God we had a great group of people that enjoyed each other's company for our vacation. Seaside Vacations should be embarrassed. There has been a resolution by seaside read more
