We were spending night in Lone Pine on way back from Death Valley and stopped in for dinner on March 21/24. The place was BUSY/PACKED! We were greeting by a really sweet girl, who said we could wait in bar until table was ready. We were in bar only a very short time, less than 10 mins. We had a nice booth in main dining room. Our cocktails were just great - I recommend the Mexican Martini. My trout was perfection as well as the BF's steak with blue cheese. Mount Whitney towers 2 miles above the town of Lone Pine, California and we discovered that Season Restaurant is actually the heart of that Mountain King. Here is why: I have had a few meals in my life that I thought were perfect in every way. Dinners in New York City, Vancouver, Paris, Maui, L.A., and a few home cooked meals from exceptional friends. Seasons, in Lone Pine, California is now on that list. My husband and I stopped in for dinner after a brief visit to Mammoth Ski Resort. We descended the mountains, and ended up in Lone Tree. We asked the hotel desk clerk which was her favorite restaurant. She didn't hesitate. She said she likes steak, and she loves Seasons. (But she also said they have great pasta if you like pasta!) So we went to Seasons, and we are so glad we did. We ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer (also available as an entree if you ask) and we ordered the Elk Medalions with mashed potatoes and green beans. It came with a green salad. And the Chocolate Cake for dessert. The menu suggested a Syrah from Oregon which paired brilliantly with the Elk. The Ahi Tuna was the best I have had anywhere, all of the flavors of the seaweed, the wasabi , and the ginger were the perfect foil for the tuna. Seared to perfection. The side salad was fresh and delightful with a light homemade dressing. The Elk plate was beautifully prepared. The Elk juicy, not over cooked, tender, with a cranberry walnut sauce on top. The green beans were crisp, and the garlic mashed potatoes, presented like they were beautiful Mount Whitney on the plate. We liked how the Syrah had a bold fruity taste that could stand up to the Elk. My husband loves chocolate so we ordered the cake and split it. My goodness it was fabulous. It is clear that the chef here is brilliant, and cares deeply about preparing the best tasting food. In my experience, when you have a chef who cares that much about what he is doing, and has the skills to accomplish his vision, you get an exceptional meal. The chef certainlly knows how to build the perfect combination of flavors in a meal. My husband and I enjoyed the simple, elegant ambiance of this restaurant. The entire restaurant is spotlessly clean. It has beautiful local mountain art on the walls, and comfortable seating. All of the staff members were friendly and professional. The restaurant if conveniently located on Main Street, and parking is easy. We especially enjoyed the captivating presence of our waiter Edgar, as he explained our options and presented our food. Edgar's professional service made all of the flavors of our food and wine so much better. Edgar is a man of this particular place. He said he grew up here. When he spoke, you felt like you were listening to the Walt Whitman of the West, his thoughtful, articulate descriptions. We got the feeling that our waiter, Edgar was passionate about this place, and the experience he was curating for us as the dining patrons. It is obvious that the owner of this restaurant is as passionate as everyone else in presenting the best possible dining experience anywhere. I appreciate the owner's vision and hard work in bringing about our fabulous experience here. That's why I think Seasons Restaurant has a heart that beats with the passion and fire of the Mountain King. The greens were insanely fresh, the salmon wasn't over cooked and the dressing was great. The serving size was also great, very large portion of salmon and helping of greens. Perfect for our family. We stayed at the Best Western Plus down the street then we ate here for dinner. Had delicious kids pasta, trout and shrimp pasta for the adults. Service was prompt and warm. What a surprise in Lone Pine, CA. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. My wife had the " Seasons" which was a grill chicken breast over fresh vegetables, sun dried tomatoes, and mushrooms in a pesto sauce. You can get the Seasons with an Alfredo or tomato & basil sauce. I had the lamb chops served with fresh garlic, diced tomatoes and fresh goat cheese in a merlot sauce. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced by the glass and bottle. I don't often make reviews for anything but the way the hostess handled the situation warranted a bit of a word. We made a reservation for 4 at 5 on Google. When we arrived our reservation couldn't be found and we told her we made it on Google, showed her the confirmation and was met with "oh, we don't do that." I'm sorry? Again, "we don't do that, google signed us up for that but we don't do that." This review isn't on the quality of the food or the restaurant itself, but this one woman with terrible customer service and tact to handle the situation in a professional manner. Just a shrug and goodbye. It isn't hard to get google to remove the option for reservations, it isn't hard to make a note of it on your restaurants website, or post a note inside stating Google reservations aren't accepted sorry for the inconvenience. And it isn't hard to even pretend to make the slightest attempt to try and make the situation better without basically saying "it is what it is." Thank you woman in the purple shirt, we had a wonderful meal at the totem Cafe, great steak and less pompous attitude. Cheers. Edit: not that it matters but my partner and myself were looking forward to eating here for about two months knowing we would be coming for our first film festival, eagerly checking the menu and website frequently to go over everything we wanted to try that did indeed look and sound delectable. The hostess's response and distasteful resolution for the situation really sours our stomachs and hearts on what we thought was a quaint, nice little town with friendly people. My wife and I were vacationing and staying in Lone Pine and wanted to enjoy some fine dining. We were not let down when we went to Seasons. My wife had the filet and I had the rack of lamb. We both enjoyed our meals thoroughly and finished our meal off with their mousse cake. We were both pleasantly surprised to have such a lovely meal and excellent service in such a small town. read more

SIMPLY THE BEST!!! Maybe it was because I had just finished hiking 221 miles on the John Muir Trail and it was my first non-dehydrated meal in a couple of weeks. But I doubt it. You MUST dine here if you find yourself in Lone Pine. Most people staying in town are hiking to the top of Mount Whitney, the highest summit in the contiguous United States, with an elevation of 14,505 feet. So I am certain they have satisfied the tummies of many hungry hikers here :) My friend and I headed here on the recommendation of our hotel (Dow Villa). The place was PACKED for a Monday night. We had to wait for 15 minutes for a table to open. We both grabbed a glass of wine (cheap at $7-9/glass) and ordered one of the many 8 oz. selections of filet mignon. The meat was cooked perfectly and was extremely tasty. The vegetable and rice sides were delicious and it also came with a salad. We got the cheesecake for dessert. It was the perfect way to end our long thru-hike. The friendly and fast service was appreciated and I now have a new favorite restaurant when I'm in that neck of the woods. read more

Seasons is open as of November 28th. By now in the age of Covid, make sure you are supporting eateries of all kinds. They need us, we need them. That being said, Seasons was great. We optioned for take out even though they are able to seat folks with plenty of distance. Nothing on them, it's just what we do now. So we ordered the Steak Bearnaise and the Steak Raymond. The Filet mignon was awesome and buttery, just as you would expect. The Raymond was tasty and done perfectly. The orders came with a simple but fresh house salad and fresh baked bread with plenty of butters. Mashed taters and veggies was good. Really no weak spots that I could see. Good job guys and gals, thank you. Figure by now with Covid, everyone has stepped up their takeout game and Seasons is solid. Worth stopping by for a good meal. read more

Love this restaurant! I have been coming here for forever and always enjoy the entire experience from excellent service, calm pleasant atmosphere with a view of Mt Whitney and of course the delicious food. The menu has many choices for every dietary preference. The meal begins with delicious warm crusty baguette and butter. The entrees come with a very generous house salad with excellent dressing, I had balsamic vinaigrette. I chose the trout which was the best I've had. This was by far the most disappointing meal I've had, possible ever, and it wasn't all because of the food. Let me explain... I had previewed their online menu while searching for a location to have dinner on our first night in town. I had actually pre-selected what I wanted to order, so we walked in a few minutes after 5pm ready to eat. Our waitress, LeeAnne, greeted us and sat us at a table, handing us menus. My sons still needed to decide on their entree, so I took a menu to peruse it while I waited. What I found was that the menu pricing was quite a bit different then that of the menu online, in fact the steaks were approximately $4 more on the menu in the restaurant. When LeeAnne came back to take our drink and dinner order, I mentioned this to her, asking if they would honor the online price. It's all about integrity, isn't it? She explained about the fact that they didn't have time to change the online price, but said she check with the owner and get back to me. When she came back with the answer, I was a bit surprised to hear her rather flippantly explain that the restaurant had recently changed owners and the owner would not honor the online prices and that was that. We were hungry so we stayed. My mistake. I had ordered filet tenderloin with bordelaise sauce, which is typically a rich sauce made with wine; their menu stated it was made with Cabernet. My sons ordered tenderloin with green peppercorn sauce and the NY strip with herb butter. Our meals arrived and when my plate was set in front of me, I asked LeeAnne, "are you sure this is a bordelaise sauce?", to which she adamantly replied yes. It looked exactly like juice from a cooked steak to me, and when I tasted it, realized that of course, it was (see pic). Keep it mind-I am being charged an extra premium for a bordelaise, on top of the "new" prices on the menu. LeeAnne came to check on us, and I felt the need to communicate with her that my steak did not come with a bordelaise sauce...could I possible get a side of it? She then rolled her eyes, pursed her lips, as said, "Yes it is!" She was adamant, And I realized it wasn't worth arguing over, so I just simply asked asked for a side of herb butter like my son had on his steak. She huffed away and had the busboy deliver the butter. There was no interaction between her and I after that, which made for a very uncomfortable meal. No checking on us, and I was already so disappointed with the service that we didn't want to stay for dessert, and opted for pints of ice cream at the local market. What I came away with is this: This restaurant pumps out ok food, not great, not terrible, just ok, which makes the experience ok. The service and attitude makes the experience awful, and no matter what kind of food you've had, can leave you with an upset stomach. read more

The Skinny: substandard food at exorbitant prices (2) service: not great for the kind of joint this place is trying to be (2) value: avoid this place - unless you want to spend $20+/person for bad food and below "diner" standard of service. In which case, be my guest.(2) We should have known better. In a location like Lone Pine, simple is good. When a place touts their pork tenderloin with merlot/shallot/tarragon sauce - beware of what lays ahead. So the hubs and I came here to eat. We made reservations for the restaurant via phone message (no one picked up their phone so the hubs left a voice mail. No return call to confirm the reservation). He ordered the veal medallions in a mushroom Marsala cream sauce and I got the pork tenderloin with a Merlot sauce with fresh tarragon and shallots. Entrees come with a starter of soup/salad and a side of rice/potatoes and vegetables. We were started off with a small loaf of warm sourdough which was okay, nothing special. The salad was generic and kind of limp. A sad offering really. The pork medallions I ordered were bland and tasteless. Although the pork itself was well executed, the lack of seasoning in this dish was rather off putting. In addition, the sauce cannot have anything resembling a Merlot in there. Wine in a box? Maybe. A real Merlot? Hell no. The veggies served with the meal were okay although double vegetables instead of starch did not yield much more compared to the standard size. Finally, the veal medallions were straight up odd. Battered and fried, the coating was one flour ladened goopy mess. Throw in a gross creamy mushroom sauce which was overly salty, the dish was one massive textural/taste violation. To add insult to injury, the so called "saffron rice" clearly was a visit from our dear friend Uncle Ben. Tasting of artificial chicken bouillon, the only thing saffron-like in that dish was the color. Service is slow in this place so be forewarned. In addition one of the servers was wearing some heavy perfume which was very off-putting.Our server had a hard time remembering our order and couldn't let us know what the dessert prices were (just FYI it wasn't listed on the dessert menu either). Overall, given the expense of this place, I give this one a pass. Between the slow service and bad good, skip this joint. read more

Big city prices for a restaurant that's pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but actually not bad. The thing to order here are the steaks, which are very, very good. The rest of the food could use some attention. The salad that comes with your meal is a nice assortment of greens with a dressing (bleu cheese) that tasted like nothing. The haricots vert and wax beans and the accompanying mashed potatoes were tepid and kind of "meh". The veal medallions were generous, but the brandy cream sauce tasted very uneven: some of it tasted like un-flambed brandy, while other of it was tasteless. The service is friendly and attentive, and they have some nice wines too. With a little tightening up, this place would rate higher. read more

Ambiance: Probably the fanciest place within 50 miles, but feel free to wear your T-shirt and shorts. Waiters are really nice. Make a reservation ahead of time especially on weekends. Food; SOoo.. they ran out of several dishes on their menu the holiday weekend that I went. No biggie, my heart wasn't terribly set on those items even though the hostess should have told us they were out of those things. 1. T-Bone Steak with Natural Juices- 10oz. of meaty goodness.. a little much for 1 person.. good thing we were sharing. 2. Pork Ribs- Although they were large ribs and the meat came off the bones easily, it tasted like mature meat. To offset the less tasty meat, the homemade BBQ sauce was delightful.. fruity flavored. 3. Bailey Cheesecake- Beautiful presentation, but I couldn't taste the Bailey at all. It was almost like eating a regular slice of cheesecake with a black bottom crust and some caramel drizzle. Both entrees came with side of salads (Ranch and Homemade Dijon dressing were both tasty), cooked vegetables and potato wedges. Superb dining. We call here to make sure we can have dinner then we make our motel reservations as we have a 200 mile drive. Great steaks. John loves the elk & the wines. Awesome bar. This restaurant is on hwy 395 in the city of Lone Pine, Ca. It was recommended by the staff (Marcos) at the Boulder Creek RV Resort at the south entrance of town. In town, we actually drove by the restaurant and had to back track. I'm glad we did! The inside ambiance was nice and had a comfortable setting. I expected a cafe type meal when I ordered the filet mignon with the butter sauce. To my surprise, the filet mignon cooked medium rare was the most delicious and tender steak I have ever experienced. The meal came with a steak knife although I used a butter knife which easily glided through the filet. I have never thought of a meal as an experience, but this filet mignon truly was an amazing experience. The bread roll served was hot, and freshly baked. The salad served with the balsamic dressing was fresh and delicious. The waiter and help were very attentive and always available, even with a mostly full restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be back, and yes, I will order the same filet mignon meal. My wife had the French onion soup as well. The spoonful I had was so delicious. Four of us went here for dinner and were not disappointed! Probably one of the nicest places in Lone Pine right on Hwy 395 on the way to Bishop and Mammoth Mountain. We all head the filet mignon cooked different ways, mine with Maytag Blue cheese that was cooked perfectly and the blue cheese was plentiful and spot on. Good wine, great cocktails, delicious food and great service! We were so pleasantly surprised! Kudos to the team at Seasons! I highly recommend this place. Take the time to enjoy Lone Pine as well. Was up in Lone Pine from Southern CA staying the night after a hike in the Sierra. My daughter and I were hungry and choose Seasons based on reviews. So glad we did! Food was delicious!! If you are staying the night in Lone Pine and truly want a great meal this is the place to go. On busy nights you may need a reservation and they open at 5:00 pm for dinner. It is very unassuming from the outside but once inside it's a friendly feeling. The Wait Staff are truly kind, congenial and accommodating. I chose the filet with Bearnaise sauce and it was cooked to perfection and the sauce was excellent. Accompanied by a fresh and crisp dinner salad balanced the meal. The whipped potatoes were tasty and just the right portion. If I am ever back in the area I now know were to enjoy a good dinner. read more

Very cozy, fast service even though the place was jumping. The food was simply outstanding! we each had a different steak, cooked to perfection. My trout was pan fried in garlic butter and it was to die for. My husband enjoyed the salmon and my son the pork. They give you freshly baked bread to munch on while you wait which you asked wonderful. We were seated after a table of about 20 and even though the waiter apologised for the wait, this was s restaurant and not a fast food joint so we expected to wait 15 mins and that's all it was. Great food, best steaks in the Eastern Sierras. The wine list is also superb. I would have given this establishment five stars except for the hostess who doubled as a waitress. Dressed like she just stepped out of a hip-hop club in Hollywood (skintight ripped jeans, open back crop top exposing her giant tattoo) strange color of dyed hair. All the servers at Seasons conduct themselves professionally. They also wear a clean tailored black uniform, which is totally appropriate for the decor and the message trying to be sent "we are a high end restaurant" The first person you encounter upon entering the restaurant is the hostess. Totally distracting and not in sync with the atmosphere. Normally I would overlook this, but when she came to our table chewing food, and asked if I wanted another glass of wine that prompted me comment... corrections can't be made if you're not aware.
