Such a fun experience! I've been to a cat cafe before, but SM's layout seemed more open and fun than the others. There were so many toys and obstacles you could pick to play with the cats and all the cats were either super friendly, super playful, or super chill. I honestly loved them all, but Ben had a special place in my heart. Super talkative and loved to cuddle. The full experience lasted 30 minutes and that's honestly enough time. We got to feed the cats treats, play with them, and take pics. The perfect way to spend our day. read more

The ambiance of this cat cafe is pretty cute. I love how much space the cats are given. The cats are very sweet. However, what really bothered me about our reservation is that a party of guests brought in treats to feed the cats. This caused a large proportion of the cats that were awake to roam in their vicinity and not with other paying guests. I asked the cashier if they sold treats to feed the cats and she said no. We have been to a few cat cafes in California and I think they deal with this situation a lot better. They have pre-portioned treats in bags that they sell, for not a lot of $$, and let guests use those paid treats to feed the cats. They don't let guests bring outside food. This makes things more ethical and fair for all paying guests. read more

We had a fun afternoon in Wallingford and after Molly Moons we headed here. I did reserve time in advance and I think they charge the right amount for what you get. I was happy to get treats to give the kitties as that really got the kitties up and moving about- they were sleepy at the start of our time. Be warned that not all cats are adoptable so ask when you get there if you want to adopt. The coffee shop area has some cute things to buy. The coffee hubby ordered took a while to get made and I honestly don't remember seeing other treats but that's likely because we had just had ice cream at Molly Moons (yum yum). Overall it was a great visit. We'll be back at some point. read more

I was there that day, and the website is very explicit that children under 6 are not allowed, but they were going full-Karen on the manager. He was very patient with them and stuck to their policies. A visited this cafe a few weeks ago and in theory, the idea is really good. There is a cafe in the lobby that you can order from before going into the room and bring your treats with you. My party and I walked in and immediately were excited to make our way around the room and meet the cats. As a paw-rent of two cats of my own, I know when I see a sick cat. There was one cat in particular who was extremely lethargic and had snot coming out of his nose, his eyes looked weepy, and he was sneezing - not like a regular cute kitten sneeze but like a MASSIVE sneeze that scared our group when we were near him. He was obviously really sick and - as someone who owns cats - I know how easily these sicknesses can spread to others. Our entire group took to him and was standing around him talking about how sad he looked. When an attendant was nearby I asked them if he was sick and she said "yes he's been sick for a few weeks but it'll probably just resolve itself." I commented that he looked "really ill" and should get checked out and she said that "he'll be fine, we're giving him lots of love!" This is incredibly concerning to hear. One of our group members was so concerned that he put in a request to adopt this cat but never heard back. Beyond this - they had a feeding session with the cats while we visited. A lot of the cats were trying to break into the room with the food in it and it just seemed like they didn't get fed often. The last alarming piece of this visit was that some cats were put into a cage during the feeding time and looked SO stressed out. One was pacing anxiously back and forth and meowing loudly, seemingly stressed. Our group walked away from this experience a little horrified and concerned about how the animals were being treated and everyone said it put a damper on their day. I hope that they have been making some positive changes and hire staff who specialize in cat body language and behavior so they can understand when their cats are sick, stressed, or hungry, and provide support to them when they are. read more

I had booked an hour, private session for my fiancé (birthday activity) and extended friends and family of 10 to come spend time with the cats. It was such a great experience. The staff running the cafe were amazing and were very professional regarding the care of the cats, and how we are to interact with them. There were over a dozen cats, with several available for adoption. They were all very well groomed (super soft and clean). We have one cat at home that gets groomed regularly and is not this soft! Within the hour, the staff would bring out bowls of treats for all of us to share with the cats; boy did they love this time to snack. Several of us tried to feed the not-so social cats whom stayed back or hidden. On one hand, it's seems a bit like a tease for them, to be loved every hour by different strangers without knowing if they will go to a forever home. But on the other hand, this program sure beats them being in a shelter and the grim realities that await them if they are not taken... We definitely plan to come back again and adopt If we can. Inside with the cats, we were taught best ways to play with the cats, were each given three pieces of kibble to give to the cat of our choice, and were left to enjoy them at our leisure. This is one of my favorite spots in Seattle. If you're a UW student, I would recommend renting some time in here during finals week and bring your homework. It's a huge stress relief. I also have, periodically, been a regular at their Saturday/Sunday cat yoga. I am always delighted by the chaos of yoga with a ton of cats around. More recently, I went back, and doing a light flow surrounded by cats was some of the best trauma work I've done in months. Coffee is always great and they have an awesome reiki crystal supply last time I was there in June. Going back soon hopefully! read more

I came in a little bit before my session (which is lower in price than other cat cafés I've been too) and very much enjoyed the ambiance! The barista was super personable and the service was great! The coffee tasted good and the seating area outside the cat room were cute! They sell quite a bit of cool merch, games, and cat toys. They have so many cats in the room and all of them were so sweet. This cat cafe is pretty cool. When you enter, you can order your drinks. After you order your drinks, someone will explain the rules of the cat cafe. Once the rules are explained, you will enter another room that leads into the cat area. There are a bunch of cats so everyone gets to play with the cats. Some are more affectionate than others. Coffee and cats? Best place ever! This place is my favorite place to be. I wish there were more locations like this. I go here off and on and noticed they now serve beer/wine. I have not ordered that from them and tend to order the cafe options of tea and coffee. They also have adorable marcon available as well. The dessert and pastries are cat themed and their coffees has cat designed from their templates their sprinkle with cinnamon(?)! Their cats are so adorable here! Very playful and some (not all) are pretty friendly. Their play area and cat tree is big and they look like they love it there. I like their idea of playing with cats and get to meet the cats in hopes of adoption. There are a few cats there that are permanent resident. They have quite a bit of toys that they cats love playing with. And sometimes, they even jump and come up to you too while you're sitting down! read more

We had such a wonderful time visiting the kitties at the Meowtropolitan this weekend. As a long time cat lover myself, I lost my two beloved elderly brother cats last year. I haven't been quite ready to welcome new cats into my home, so it was nice to be able to go and have a lovely hour at this Cafe and get a good dose of cat company. It was clear that the staff really understood the needs of their cats. While some were very outgoing and playful, others had places in the large space where they could retreat -- nap and have space as needed. Wonderful cat condos, boxes and climbing opportunities. I also love that the Meowtropolitan works with local animal shelters as well so that there an be more opportunities for cats to be cared for and adopted. While some kitties at the Cafe live there more permanently, others are available for adoption. All of the cats seemed to have what they needed to be happy and peaceful. What a wonderful organization! Full disclosure, I am an animal shelter volunteer. I love love love Meowtropolitan Cafe! You can immediately tell how much the employees care for the cats in their care. So glad the Cafe part has partially reopened on the weekends. This place provides an invaluable service to the animals and the community. By allowing cats into the Cafe they are increasing their exposure to the public allowing for more socialization and interaction. They open up room at the shelter the cats come from. The cats were very adorable and the space was nice but they suffer from false (outdated) advertising. - The location is described as a cat cafe with signs all over the outside listing drink service hours, but they are so understaffed that they were not serving any food or drink. - The website lists that all reservations for 4pm and later are adults only, no children under 16. We get there and the cafe part of it is closed due to low staffing. And there's a child right in front of us. We ask the worker why the adult only hours weren't being enforced and they said they didn't do that anymore. That was the whole reason we booked that time!! We didn't want kids to chase the cats around! If we had known they were just going to let kids in regardless of the time, we would have booked a time they would be in school, or go somewhere else entirely. And it was just as we expected. We couldn't get close to many of the cats because the kid kept trying to force the cats to play with him, which only chased them away. We payed for a whole 30 minutes to spend time with cats, but I only got about 5 minutes in at the end when the kid managed to sit down with a cat on his lap. We won't be coming back here. Hopefully we can find a spot that has accurate adult-only hours and an actual cafe. Which is too bad, all the cats here are very cute. read more

After going to Japan a few times and seeing the multiple cafes with animals, I had hoped something would spark here in the US. It's a good concept. Pay to enter cafe, make note that most of the animals there are adoptable. The store itself is cute. You enter an area with a few items for sale along with a nice coffee shop. The coffee I had was fantastic. Pay for coffee plus a small fee to enter the cat area and you're off! Being a huge animal lover of course I want to pet them all...you will note however there are a few with special collars that should not be pet. Overall it is a clean place. Amazingly easy on the body meowga. For someone who doesn't necessarily practice yoga but loves cats, this is a must! Between my cat-cow pose and a puppy dog stretch I had a cat on my back. Someone had a napping cat on their map the entire hour. Several cats hopped from laps to backs throughout the meowga hour. It was delightful. Would do again. Everyone needs more cats in their lives. Also we were promptly informed that there were no drinks being served because and I quote "I am not a barista." It turns out the barista comes in on weekends.
