Since my BF and I have late Airbnb check in time so we decided to chill at coffee shop around the area. I saw the Yelp page for this place and instantly wanted to check it out because who does not wanna see some cute kittens while having a sip of nice coffee. Here is how it works: $10 per person include a drink and an hour playing with kittens. However, there is separate room for cats from coffee shop. I did not find it worthy so I decided to get latte/desserts and just cat watching from different coffee shop instead go to cat room plus my BF did not wanna drink anything. I got their nonfat latte, cheesecake and macaroon. Cheesecake was light and not heavy, kind of reminds me of Japanese style cheesecake. Also they made this cute kitty paw shaped chocolate on top of chocolate which made it a Instagram photo worthy cake! Their pistachio macaroon was kind of disappointing, it was on the dry side and I could tell that it has been the display for a while. Nonfat latte was okay, the latte art was sloppy but the staff there told me that usually it is harder to make latte art with nonfat milk so I don't blame them. After all I would say this is a good spot for cat lovers who wanted to see some cute kittens and spend quality time with friends. My boyfriend found Seattle Metropolitan one day on Yelp and we decided to check this place out with our friends during our trip to Seattle. We didn't get a chance to visit a cat café during our trip to Japan so we figured that this might do. He said that Meowtroplitan looked bigger and cleaner than the ones he's seen in videos. For you to have any playing time with the cats, reservations are required. It is $10 per person for 50 minutes of playtime with a drink included. When you arrive, be sure to check in with the cashier. Once you have checked in, they'll start getting your drinks ready, and then you'll pay. I opted for a hot tea, my boyfriend got a hot chocolate, my friend got an Italian soda, and last of our party got a chai tea. The hot chocolate had a little cat drawing on the top but the cutest was the chai tea. It had foam on the top and they used a stencil to drop some powder on the top to make a cute cat drawing. I don't know about the hot chocolate or chai tea but I did not like my hot tea and the Italian soda did not taste good. They also have cat themed pastries/desserts as well. When we went, they actually had a cat marshmallow box set full of cat shaped marshmallows but they were pretty pricy. They only allow about 15 people to go in the cat area during one reservation. They have .. maybe 8 cats or so? Can't really be sure cause they are free to roam between the human room and the back room. We went at 2PM and some of the cats were pretty tired looking already. One of them actually slept the whole time we were there. They have a few rules while you're in there: don't pick them up, don't make sudden movements/noises, etc. There are cats there that are there to stay and then there are cats there that are up for adoption. I suppose this can be like a foster home for cats? A good portion of the cats did a great job at ignoring people until we trailed a toy in front of them. Then there was this one cat that absolutely hated everyone except for it's care taker. It actually bit my friend and it swiped its paw at me. All the cats were adorable and cute. I just wished that some of them were friendlier with people. None of them seem too excited with so many humans around. I'm not sure if that's because they were already pooped/tired or they're just cats. I mean, in general, cats aren't really excited to see any human. But if that's the case, I'm not sure if a cat café is the perfect place for them to be at. There was one cat that followed one of us back to the table, kneaded our jackets, and then promptly fell asleep next to us. She was adorable. She was also the cat that was determined to escape as well. She was at the door a good portion of the time and sneaked out when the door opened. They have a good amount of air filters in the room as well, which is fantastic. I'm not allergic to cats specifically (I think) but being in a room with so many of them may cause my allergies to act up. In fact, my sinuses did act up for a little bit while I was in the room but it was definitely not as bad as it could be. Aside from the "AWWW" factor at seeing cats, there really isn't much that would keep me coming back to this establishment. And the "AWWW" factor can only last so long. In fact, I think one visit is enough -- for me anyways. It's a great place to visit though, especially when there aren't a whole ton of cat cafes out there. While I may not be a cat person, I know plenty of people who are. So whenever visiting friends are tired of the same ol' Pike Place and Space Needle tour, I take them here. First off, reservations are recommended. They're $10 a person but include a drink and an hour playing with cats. They do allow walk-ins if the room isn't full, or if you come in past the hour they'll only charge you $5. With that aside, Meowtropolitan is a great cat cafe! The cats are obviously well cared for and highly socialized. Some prefer to chill and lay on your lap, while others will actively play with you and toys. Some of the cats are permanent residents while others are adoptable and come from local shelters. I had someone from out of town come visit, so we spontaneously decided to check out the cat cafe. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to us, you have to make advance online reservations. Thus, we were banished in the cafe area (separate from the cats) and look inwards as if we were window shopping for cats. The cafe in itself was pretty small, but there were a few people inside doing homework. It's a total hipster joint to be honest, although I'm not entirely sure (original) hipsters are still around. Service was friendly even tho they would not allow us to see the cats. The drink menu is a little small, but they have cute theme human treats and will have fun cat theme art on your "meowcca" or "catpuccino". In terms of cats and their health. These cats are extremely plumped and seemingly have a good life. In terms of stress on the animals for having constant, but different, people come in and out on an hourly basis- I can't say for certain the long term effect. This place is basically a real life Neko Atsume game. Of course, you're here for the cats, not the coffee or bakery items, but at least you get a coffee with your cat room reservation (or, you get a cat room with your coffee if you've booked in?). The coffee was good, but their baked goods were a bit on the pricey side. $3 for a macaroon, or $4.something for a sliver of cake? It's tasty, but spendy for what you get. But again, you're there for the cats, not the overpriced (albeit tasty) treats. We came here around lunchtime and half of the cats were already pretty pooped from playing with other people. That's fine; there's like 15-20 cats so you can find other cats to pet. That said, the cats do just wander around and don't always seem interested in playing with humans, so they're more just the petting kind of cats. However, our best experience there was actually when we were sitting at a table in the cat room and one of the cats came up to us and jumped on the table (and our laps) and asked for cuddles. That totally made my day. Their phone system isn't completely working so if you need to actually talk to a person at the cafe (instead of just using the automated phone information), then you're in trouble. Overall, the place was pretty fun for the experience but I don't know if I'd go back there unless I was bringing friends or family who hadn't been before. Parking is pretty hard to find in that part of Wallingford, especially because there are a lot of no parking areas on the side streets. Purrrrr, purrrrr, purrrrr. Do you hear that? This cafe is PURRRRRFECT. If you're an animal lover, especially someone who adores cute kitties, you have to check out a cat cafe at least once in your life. They're essentially kitty shelters that have been transformed into a cafe/playful space for adults to interact with and care for all the animals. I had the chance to visit a cat cafe in Oakland, California with my girlfriend about a year back and it pretty much solidified my love for kitties. I mean how can you NOT love these independent, spontaneous, and moody felines? So when my girlfriend and I heard that Seattle had its own cat cafe, we knew we had to visit during our recent trip. The cafe was called Seattle Meowtropolitan, the Emerald City's first ever one of its kind (there's another shelter elsewhere). They took reservations for an hour of snuggling (included a free drink) so we quickly shelled out a small sum of $13/person for the next available date (check their hours because I know they close on certain days). Seattle Meowtropolitan was located a few blocks away from Seattle's Woodland Zoo so you can TOTALLY come before or after your tourist visit and actually GET PERSONAL WITH THE ANIMALS! I recommend coming at least 10 minutes before the start time (i.e. arrive right at the hour) so you have time to redeem your complimentary drink. Maybe come even earlier so you can browse all their cool stuff! Every one of their drinks and snacks are kitty themed. During our visit, my girlfriend and I got their Meowca as well as a Latte. They tasted pretty good and best of all our barista drew a cat on them. Now I'm sure you're wondering whether $13 was worth it for an hour at the cafe. Regardless of the time you go, it's going to be a VERY MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE! Even though we stopped by during the last evening slot (8pm) when all the kitties should be starting to sleep, there was plenty of activity! The kitty room housed around 10-12 different cats of all breeds ranging from tabby to siamese. The layout of the "playground" was kind of like a castle, and all the cats were royal subjects. Some of the cats were more docile, while others were feisty. Each kitty was safe to approach (if you're patient and careful) and some even let you pet or cuddle with them! My favorite part of the evening was when this one tabby jumped on a table to be fed some snacks. Hella cute! If you got an hour to spare and want to do something fun for a date or an activity, I highly recommend going to Seattle Meowtropolitan. CATfe! I was so happy =^.^= to see that there was a Cat Cafe in Seattle! I was expecting this to only be in Japan. There was once a "catfe" opened in Los Angeles but it was just a pop-up adoption center. This place, is a real cafe that serves food and coffee with the company of cats! Although about half of the cats were sleepy and not super playful, I was very pleased with our visit. There are tables to sit at but most people were walking around and tried to entice the cats with toys on a string. Some cats liked to be petted but some just walked away. I was rejected twice by dgaf cats :( but a cute black one came to sit right by me on the table! I later figured that she came by not because she liked me but because she wanted to snatch the macaron that was sitting in the middle of the table. I feel so used. She was smooth about it too.... she slowly reached over and stretched across the table while reaching one of her paws toward the direction of my cookie. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. I just wish there were more cats, or fewer people let in per hour because the same people kept hogging the toys and friendly cats. This place is recommended for Cat lovers! read more

This was my first cat cafe experience & it was enjoyable. Reservations are easy to make online and they include a free drink off the menu with a 50 minute time slot with the cats (for $13). I recommend arriving early in time to order your drinks and/or any food you might want to purchase (gluten-free & vegan options!). It will also give you time to check out all the cat merchandise before heading inside. I ordered a chai latte and the art on top was so cute! We had a fairly large group going in and most of the cats were distracted by others and I didn't really want to bother any of the other (adorable!) cats trying to keep to themselves in their little huts or up high on the ledges. We had one attendant, but they didn't provide any information about the cats or add to the atmosphere. I do think the experience could've been better, but of course part of it is subjective to the cats and their own behaviors and moods and the time in which you attend. However, I appreciate the fact that they're working with a local animal shelter to give these feline friends a chance to be adopted. Though I didn't take any cute cats home with me, it was a good time to catch up and bond over a new experience. **Here are some highlights & important info for your visit: -Located in Wallingford (Inbetween UW & Fremont). -Street parking only. -Online reservations are a must if you want to personally hang out and pet the kitties. They only book about 2 week's in advance, which makes it challenging to reserve yourself a spot. The $10 reservation gives you 50 mins of up close personal time in the cat room & a cup of joe. -If you don't have a reservation, no sweat! The cafe portion for coffee and food is open to everyone. -The café: A cup of coffee and a baked good typically ranges from $3-$5 each. Truthfully, their one main drawback would be the café itself. Don't get me wrong, the baristas were very nice and friendly. It's just that the coffee isn't that great (way too much foam and a little weak). Plus, their pastry case was fairly empty when we arrived. I also think paying $3 for a macaron is a bit steep, but it's hard to resist a baked good with a face on it Overall though, I enjoyed the experience. We came here not knowing that it was a cat cafe so when we found out we were intrigued and surprised. My GF and I just wanted a place to sit and relax and use free wifi and this was on our way home. The cafe is pretty small with a few seats here and there and EVERYTHING is cat themed - the drinks, pastries, decor and inventory. I had been anxiously awaiting the opening of this cat cafe, and at long last my reserved time had come. For $10 you get any drink of your choice followed by 50 minutes in the cat lounge. If you don't reserve a spot in the cat lounge you're still welcome to grab a drink and check out what's going on through a giant clear window. Desserts and merchandise are of course extra, but you'll want to make sure you pick some up to get the full experience. The cat lounge is beautifully designed and the cats are all young, friendly, and potentially adoptable. The room has built out playgrounds that reach up to the ceiling and wrap around the room. There were about 10 cats in the louge, and though most were sleepy there was always a cat or two more than willing to play. Considering they spend all day around people, they were as active as can be expected and didn't seem stressed at all. Plus, they have tables in the cat lounge where you can relax with your drink or read any of the silly cat-related reading materials. I've also fostered cats and volunteered with them at animal shelters, and I am very impressed by how kindly they treat their kitties. At any time the cats can move into a different room to get a break from the crowd, or jump up high to still be in view but out of reach. There is also an employee in the cat lounge at all times to make sure they aren't being mishandled. Outstanding value for a unique experience. We were visiting from the Bay Area and had a limited number of days, but we enjoyed ourselves so much we came in for a SECOND visit before we left. The staff - Thea, Clara, and John - were all so helpful and sweet... And you can tell they really love the cats. They're happy to discuss their different personalities and which ones are their favorites. They create a nice, calm atmosphere that feels nice for the humans, and perfect for the cats. What a gem! I love what they do. And have you seen those cute sweets they have displayed? Granted, I haven't had a chance to try them, but they look delicious and I'm tempted every time! I go to Seattle Meowtropolitan to hang out with the cats from time to time, but also work in the café. There's a table to the right of the entrance that I really like. It gets really quiet when the groups enter the cat lounge too. I've gone with and without a reservation and had a good time on each occasion, although the $13 price tag might put off some. You do get a drink with it, however, and seeing the cats is always worth it. There's a grumpy, old one that makes my day each time - I call her Snape. The cats can be tired in the evening, so I get the feeling it's best to go during the day, but it's nice to relax with them nonetheless. My partner likes to do yoga and I have been pretty hesitant to try -- I am not elegant or flexible -- so I got us two tickets to cat yoga to try out something less intimidating. The class was half beginners and half "experienced yogis". The moves were easy to do and my partner says that it could have used some music or something to make it feel like it had more of a flow, but I thought it was fun. I had the grumpiest cat choose my mat to sit on.. AKA it was his mat now and I was intruding on his space. My only complaint is that the person working that day offered to tell visitors which cats were up for adoption. When we told them specifically we wanted to know, they said they would be right back to tell us more, but they just disappeared until our time slot was up. There was no food or bev available the day we went because they had no staff. Would have been nice to know in advance so we weren't starving the whole time. The best concept. EVER. I visit Seattle frequently and I wanted to go here the last time I visited, but we couldn't get a reservation on short notice because this place is sought after! Anyway, it became a must for this visit and I booked 1 week ahead of time. I was amazed that $10 gets you entrance for an hour as well as your choice of drink. The pastries, brownies, cookies etc are separate. Anyway, the latte I got was excellent and so were the cat-themed treats! The cats themselves were a blast well, all having different personalities, making spending time with them that much more fun. Also, the cat keepers were also lovely and shared fun details about each cat. We went around 7 pm and the cats were still pretty playful (probably after having gotten a nap in). Overall, I had the best time! I think this is such a sweet way to get folks to meet these cats especially those who are interested in adopting one. My wife and I have visited twice and we had a small incident happen during our second visit that meant we didn't have a good experience and felt dissapointed.
