Great selection of beautifully maintained ordinary and exotic indoor plants and unusual indoor and outdoor accessories. The outdoor lanterns last a long time and are reliable (we have three). We visit every time when are in Santa Rosa and always take home some items. read more

I used to love this place! I literally spent a lot of $$$$ there. Unfortunately I had 1 bad experience and haven't been back in close to 2 years. My 80 year old father-in-law bought be a Christmas gift. It was one of their popular Christmas lanterns that light up. I have several from urban garden. Unfortunately, he bought me the same one he'd bought from here the previous Christmas. I went to the store in the hopes of returning it, even for a store credit and they wouldn't budge. I guess purchased Christmas items are final sale, which my elderly father-in-law didn't know. There was no budging with them. I understand when a business doesn't want a seasonal item returned, but this was right after Christmas, when they still had their Christmas items displayed so it could have easily been returned to the display and if not sold, put on display the following year. I was completely brushed off and like I said, I've spent hundreds at this establishment. So they got to keep the $ that was spent on this gift but myself, my family and my extended family no longer shop here. I have told friends about this experience only to hear that a similar experience has also happened to them. Not a good way to take care of loyal customers. read more

I love stores like this one! It's such a beautifully cultivated store that offers plants, gardening related fun, outdoor decor, and even some household goodies. So many beautiful items to outfit your space and really create a warm and beautiful environment. When you buy some of the plants they will print a how to not kill this receipt which is awesome and it includes the full Latin name of the plant. Seems like not a big deal but I thought this was pretty cool to help you succeed. They have sweet decorations for all seasons. The staff and owners are informative and friendly. It's stores like this that make me love having local shopping centers like Montgomery Village. Such a wonderful shopping experience. read more

What a gem! My wife and I stopped in as a special treat for me to peruse the plants. (Insert "I don't need another plant, so I bought another plant and brought it home") We were greeted by a hello and smiling faces. I took my time and felt absolutely no pressure. Every question we had was answered with patience and kindness. I mentioned I was struggling with a specific variety and was met with understanding and assurance it's a finicky plant and difficult to care for by most plant lovers. I left with a few small plants with instructions for care, a delicious room spray and a luxurious rose body wash. We will absolutely return here again soon as we had our eye on some gorgeous quaint outdoor furniture. Stop in and say hello! read more

This place brings me so much joy. Floor to ceiling windows with plenty of plant choices! Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about indoor foliage. They recently moved locations and the parking is so much better. I went in to check out the new location and left with my trunk full of items. It does get a little pricey ($100 for an XL monstera) but that doesn't mean options are limited. Most small plants start around $10 and up. Keep in mind these plants have been tended well and are in great shape! Pot options are my favorite items here; the choices are endless and reasonably priced! Definitely would recommend this place to anyone; I'm obsessed! read more

This place is very unassuming and easy to miss if you're driving. However, I was on foot yesterday and noticed some cute stuff in the window and went in. Walking in to this store is like entering some site of magical sanctuary. Very unexpected (I'm a good way). This place is amazing and so incredibly adorable on the inside. I asked a stupid question (are the succulents real?) and the staff person was very pleasant. He explained that indeed the plants were real. He didn't even laugh when I stood there shocked at all the beauty. I picked out 3 plants and noticed a bunch of cool stuff that I will be coming back for. They have these long candle stick things (everlasting candles???) and something that looks like a fishbowl and then there is a moss thing. I spent less than $20 and am ecstatic. My only issue was that I brought my son with me and he has special needs/issues with his motor skills and I was scared he would accidentally knock things over. To solve this I will go alone next time and schedule time to enjoy this space. Also this place is very clean and it smells very good. read more

Last week, my wife and I attended a dinner party with friends. The host's home was beautifully decorated, but what seemed to get the vast amount of attention and thus a majority of compliments and inquiries was a Loki Fire Pot situated on the living room coffee table. This beautiful ceramic pot in various shades of slate and blue had a cauldron in the center from which a flame effortlessly fluttered like the wings of a brazen butterfly. Our hostess, giddy by now with our interest, told us she purchased it at the Urban Garden; the best part was when she told us that it is in Santa Rosa, CA! We wanted one of those firepots, so we planned to visit Urban Garden the next day. The store is located in one of the swankier north-end sections of Montgomery Village sandwiched between the Pendleton shop and Sur La Table on Magowan Drive. Upon entering the store, we were warmly greeted by a sales woman and as I stopped to take it all in, thought, "Wow! This is the kind of exclusive garden shop usually found only in trendy places like Carmel, or in San Francisco's Fillmore or Castro neighborhoods." But only it wasn't; it was right here in Santa Rosa. This was truly a magical moment, walking among the fountains, wind chimes, mirrored garden balls, teak furniture, bird baths, bird feeders and other objets d'art, baubles, and plain ol' fun stuff! The merchandise is displayed with an orderly whimsy, each item begging to be handled and examined. I instantly knew my sybaritic spirit could easily be sated by the offerings. I didn't have my camera with me, so I decided to go back the following day and document this treasure trove for garden lovers. Besides, we needed to buy another Loki Fire Pot for a wedding gift. It was our luck that one of the store's owners, Sam Stavros, was there. We spent about fifteen minutes talking about the store, all the while singing its' praises. Until last week, we had never heard of this place, so we were surprised to learn that Sam and his partner, Jeff Bastoni, have had this business for several years and in two previous locations. This place has great juju, which means to me that it will not remain unnoticed for long. And if that weren't enough, on our way out, a bronze colored butterfly casually fluttered by -- a talisman of good things to come! read more

You can tell they appreciate their customers! Some items are priced very well and fairly, while others are more on the pricey side. Be sure to check price tags before getting too exited about a find! The staff is super friendly and helpful. Parking is easy and you even earn dollars back with every purchase. There aren't many special shops like this anymore so do yourself a favor and stop in. Wandered into this store while visiting the center and fell in love with it! So many unique adorable items for your home and garden! I was also lucky to be there when the owner was there and he couldn't have been more helpful - love that he is actually on the floor answering questions and telling customers about items. The prices are not cheap but the stuff I saw was so unique and creative that these aren't items you're going to see at Home Depot or TJ Maxx. I found some really unique things in this cute, brightly-lit, shop. They had a nice selection of ornaments and holiday decor that are drawn from nature. I particularly loved the gourds painted to look like Santas, penguins, and snow men that came in three sizes. I also got a kick out of their collection of lighted branches and flameless candles. The candles looked incredibly realistic (they flicker!) but are totally safe around kids and the curtains. They also had some terrific picnic accessories that ranged from baskets with all the necessities (glasses, plares, flatware, etc...) to cute ant-shaped items like salt and pepper shakers. Their location, in Montgomery Village, is super convenient. This place has been my "go to" for years!!!! Indoor and outdoor decor and more!!!! All so unique, high quality and locally owned and run. To top it off, Kim, who works there is as stellar as they get! Last year they had an outdoor tablecloth that I really wanted in blue. Before I could get there, the blue was out. They took my name and number (although they remember you when you come in and yell out a warm hello!) and were unable to get it last year. I bought the green which is lovely too. I had been thinking about it the last few weeks as it is that time of year again. My schedule has been relentless so unable to get to the store. I was in Urban Garden with friends on black friday and decided to purchase an item. The salesclerk was so nasty and her attitude was so poor. I have been in retail for over 30 years and have never seen such bad conduct. I didn't get her name but she was short and had brown hair and was working the register. I asked for a bag to carry a glass item across the street and she read me the riot act. Needless to say, I will not shop here anymore and will tell my friends because of her, I was so disgusted. D.
