What a treat this place is for home chefs. They have all your kitchen ware needs covered. The folks that work at this shop are great. So friendly and helpful. Nice store , unfortunately the minimum (25$) coffee drip which was display item to begin with, was returned a half hour later . The finish glaze was rough and it wobbles on the cup . Without informing me the charged a 10 % restocking fee and lost any possibility of a new customer. What a foolish practice for an item that was never used and returned less than a hr later. Am I wrong ? Why folks don't bother ! Not the 3.30$ , it's the principle you sold an opened item then charged a restocking fee ...GMAFB ! Nice store , over pleasant service but bullshit policy ! Helpful staff. Well stocked products. They are local and over 150 years old. The staff is very knowledgeable of their products and their uses. It can be inconsistently priced compared to box stores because they're thoughtful products and a smaller company. Can't recommend them enough. read more

We purchased around $250 worth of items, and one bowl was missing glaze on the inside, but we didn't notice it until we got home. It also didn't have the embossed stamp that the other bowls from the same manufacturer have, pointing to a possible counterfeit. We purchased 3 bowls, and we only returned the one bowl that had the imperfection. Missing glaze would allow moisture to enter and degrade the integrity. Mostly wanted to return it because of the missing glaze, but I wasn't given a chance to explain my reasoning before the manager was letting me know that there's a 10% restocking fee. The $5.50 is not the point, it's definitely the principal, and the Store will be losing my business as a result of that. A small store like this can't afford to inflict this type of policy for defective items they shouldn't have sold in the first place. If they're so sure about their products, they should ensure every item is in perfect condition and doesn't have any counterfeit labels or marks. read more

I have been here a few times but admittedly I have not been persuaded to make any significant purchases. While they have a good variety tools, gadgets and appliances I feel the offerings are basic, not exclusive. I mean the carry a lot of Cuisinart products but little I would call higher end. Now I appreciate the Gagia espresso machines from Italy but that's about the most exotic thing they carry. I want to really sing their praises being a Santa Rosa institution and small biz, and there may be some things you cant find at a competitor, I just wish they were a little more gourmet. read more

A gem of a store where you can actually lay hands on small appliances for every application. Sure you pay a premium for it but it is a great resource unlike buying on line and returning because the pictures didn't do something justice or whatnot. If they carry a line of products they can easily find you replacement parts that actually fit or even repair them. They've kept our 30 year old Cuisinart going for decades as the bowls develop cracks over time and finding the bowl on line is a hit or miss proposition. read more

Forget about Sur La Table this locally owned business has been in Santa Rosa since 1924! From the pleasant greeting and the help offered to you as you walk in the door I was blown away. Just came from SLT and the contrast was striking. Prices at Haristy's are more realistic, they have a huge assortment of kitchenware and gadgets plus they do appliance repair and also repair some of the brands that offer warranties. This is my dream store. I came in for a candy thermometer since SLT was out and someone told me about Haristy's. I found several candy thermometers there and was able to buy one that fit my needs and my pocketbook. Located on Farmers Lane in a large shopping center. Check it out and buy local! read more

A great store for the home cook! I loved looking at all the kitchen gadgets and small appliances. They have great customer service, both in person and over the phone - very friendly. Here is what I wasn't happy about... I brought in my KitchenAid Prof 600 standing mixer for repair; the culprit was the speed control board. While the MSRP for the same model brand new starts at ~$530, I was surprised (shocked is more like it) that they charged $215 for the repair. The actual cost of the replacement part was $75, the $140 was for labor. When I got home, I watched a YouTube tutorial on replacing a KitchenAid speed control board. The tutorial was only 14 minutes long so I'm fairly certain it likely took about 7 minutes to make the repair replacing the board that literally just snaps in. While I was happy with their service, I can't help but feel they overcharged me for the simple repair. read more

Cool spot to pick up unique plates bowls and other flatware that makes serving a party for a group interesting I love the bowls the holes on the sides they look really good for a risotto or a light crab and pasta sage brown butter It seems out-of-the-way as far as where it is being in the restaurant business for so many years I had no idea that restaurant supply stores aren't open on Saturdays and Sundays there are several in the area none of them open a week and a half before Christmas seems like a good weekend be open. However I don't want to work weekends either but I do Lol. I think the prices are reasonable the staff is friendly and there's plenty of parking worth a look if you have people over and like to dress things up a bit now I need a good linen store to find some colorful linens for tables. I had a problem with a KitchenAid stand mixer. I called to get information on repairs. I was told it would cost $125 and would be as good as new. I thought that was rather high. The head bounces when running. I went on KitchenAid web site and found the problem and fixed it in 30 seconds!! I think I got the Oakmont price. They only carry quality merchandise and are very knowledgeable and customer-focused. They offer full replacement on warranties. I've bought a Cuisinart microwave and a coffee maker there, plus a coffee grinder and toaster by Kitchenaid, all of better quality and service than the mostly generic brands you get at Walmart, Target or JC Penney. Given the heavy use of these appliances, I suggest that the extra money is more than worth it. read more

I learned about this place when I was taking a cooking class. The kitchen instructor told the class that if we ever need to repair a KitchenAid mixer, Hardisty's is the place to go. Years later, the motor in my KitchenAid mixer was slipping. I brought in the mixer and they said it was routine repair - costing around $120 for the repair - saving me hundreds of dollars from buying a new mixer. An excellent locally owned housewares shop. Carries medium to good quality home small kitchen appliances, cookware, tools, etc. But this is Not a professional restaurant supply. You're not going to find buffalo grinders, 56 quart Hobart mixers, nor wolf ranges here. This is a home appliance store. The inventory is the same items you'll find at a Sur La Table or Williams-Sonoma, at pretty much the same prices. The draw is that this family owned shop is run by older woman that know product information, know how the appliances work, & they can order parts for your Cuisinart. Like everyone else, I buy a lot of housewares from Amazon but sometimes you just have to go out and pick up stuff, turn it over, and compare the various pans, appliances and what not. Hardisty's has been around for decades and they are extremely helpful. It's fun to do shopping the old fashioned way, especially when it's a family business. Yay! Every small appliance and most of the kitchen gadgets in our home came from Hardisty's. They're an excellent source of outstanding quality products at fair prices. Nice folks too. They'll also take the time to work with you and help you decide which brand and model of a particular appliance best meets your needs. I spent an hour in the store yesterday shopping for a new coffee pot and bean grinder to replace our old, dying coffee maker. It very pleasant experience. Bought some of their coffee to try too. They're also the service center for most appliances. We had them fix my 40 year old Kitchenaid K5A mixer a while ago and they did a great job. My wife dropped off an appliance for repair some while back; they duly called back to tell her it was about $300 after their analysis and involved a new motor - far too much to make it worthwhile so she brought it back (despite their offer to dispose of it - or more likely part it out). As a result, I took a look as I should have done in the first place seeing as I have a background in electrical matters. Turns out their call to get the go-ahead was utter nonsense - a burned out motor is easy to spot from the smell alone before you even pop a meter on it. The issue turned out to simply be one of the brushes that needed re-seating after being jogged in the kitchen, a 2 minute job, and the first thing anyone should check if a motor won't do anything, especially a place with experience like Hardisty's. It was obvious that no real diagnosis had been done and they simply reeled out a solution that would have worked but involving completely unnecessary and expensive work. Keeping it to 'dispose' of would have yielded several hundred dollars of parts, that could be re-used, to rub salt in the wounds. Now perhaps this was one employee who was lazy or not very competent, but this was such a blatant attempt to take advantage of my wife that I have to say something. We will never do business with this store again; this experience was either due to incompetence or dishonesty. There's no honest mistake here. Feeling like we were nearly conned. Beware. read more

Went in to buy a new gold coffee basket that I thought I needed but after talking to salesperson he informed me that i was probably filling it to much with my beans that I grind daily. So as I was walking out I noticed they have fresh coffee beans so I decided to give them a try. After going over the different beans I decided on two different ones and was thoroughly pleased the next day, and sure enough I was over filling the basket and the salesperson also recommended a finer grinder setting on my Baratza Encore coffee grinder. I came in looking for a few things including a Braun shaver which I was prepared to pay $250.00 for. The guy behind the counter acted completely indifferent and seemed to have absolutely no interest in selling me a shaver or being of service in any way. He didn't offer to show me any, nor did he lead me in any particular direction as to the type of shaver I might want. He just stood there with a scowl on his face. My Series 9 Braun Lock Indicator kept going on during the middle of shaving, causing my razor to stop. The razor also developed a mind of its own and started to turn on in the middle of the night! Ernie new exactly what was wrong with it as soon as I explained the situation to him. The razor needed a new circuit board. I brought the razor in on a Monday afternoon and it was repaired by the very next day! Ernie provided exceptional customer service! I have been here many times to purchase high end pieces that I'll keep forever and also for the pie crust protector I needed in a pinch!! I live very close and it really is a convenience...however I went back recently to check out what espresso makers they have in stock after doing much research for a purchase I knew would be in the $500-700 range, well, I will NEVER go back again. Every single time I have been there the older saleswoman follows me around to no end. She's helpful the first 3 minutes but as she looms in the close distance her presence is downright creepy. Not to mention super effing insulting. I've tolerated & ignored her before but this time as I stood at the espresso machines comparing the brands I'd come to be familiar with through my research she came over and asked "do you know that those are fancy coffee makers, are you sure that's what you want?" I lost it and told her that she's making me very uncomfortable following me around and now she insulted me. I walked out and with that took my hefty sale. Sadly it's gone to an coffee supplier in Oregon (awesome customer service!) and not stayed local. I had purchased a Braun Series 9 shaver, after 6 months it started malfunctioning. Since it was under warennt, I called Braun and they wanted me to send the shave to Hardisty's Homewares in Santa Rosa, CA. I had sent it as I was directed, They repaired the shaver and sent it back to me after a week. Three months later I had the same problem with the shaver. I went through the same process as the first time. This time the return was much faster. After a day, they sent the shaver back, stating that they had changed the motherboard and the battery in the shaver. The shaver worked for two days, and it died completely. read more

Sent in oral b toothbrush for repair. Company claims it was lost in mail but refused to send pictures of open package until prodded to do so. Company claims we did not package correctly and that sharp end of medal ripped the hole in the mailing package. My toothbrush was working well before it was sent in (weeks before it was flashing red) and it is obvious that my good toothbrush was used to fill another order or it was damaged by this company. Even though the toothbrush has a 2 year warranty, neither oral b or this shady company are taking responsibility. This place is fantastic and saved me a ton of money. I have a KitchenAid blender. One of those stainless steel, super cool ones that cost way too much to replace. I love my blender. I have worked it hard over the years and it is by no means new. However, a part on it finally broke. I really wasn't feeling like I could afford to replace it. Thank goodness for this place because I didn't have to! They are an official Kitchen Aid dealer/repair facility. There aren't too many in the Bay Area so this place is a godsend. Reasonably priced quality repair on my Saeco Incanto. Personable staff listened to me and called when the service was done. I recommend them for service. In the kitchenware sales area, I get the feeling that they don't like you to browse. Looking for coffee filters, I got sidetracked looking at lemon zesters or something like that. A woman comes up quite close with can I help you find something. (in not so sincere tone) More like: 'what are you here for?' Disguised as customer service. I must not have dressed upscale enough or something. I told her that I was getting an appliance serviced, and also needed coffee filters. I stopped to look at other things. She told me where the filters were. I said thank you, but did not follow her to the filters. She stood by the filters and asked me what size I needed from halfway across the store. I felt the pressure of her goal to get me out of the store. I did not know the size of the filters I needed. How could I not? I must be some kind of idiot. I called someone who knew, paid for the filters and got the hell out. A huge weight lifted off me. It's been a while since I've felt that 'watch him so that he doesn't shoplift' feeling. Picking up the appliance, she was very quick to get in front of me on my way to the service counter, and I was walking fast. Can I help you with something? And blocking me. She should have played football. Or a hockey goalie. Really not inviting. I just want to pick up my serviced appliance. I promise not to look at the kitchen gadgets today. I will just leave.
