weekday dinner no res with no wait. i loved the tuna on the tuna tostada. the iberico was really good, but the tomato sauce was overpowering. the spicy vodka pasta took the longest to come out but it was easily the best dish of the night so it was worth the wait. there's also street parking nearby. need to come back to try the wine! read more

Let me start by thanking the employees for the excellent service. Not only were they knowledgeable about each drink and dish but also on attentive to anyone needing help. Food here was on a next level. If you get the hamachi, I recommend paring it with bread since it can get a little too salty. If you like ice cream, this is a spot to try! The coconut, hint of vanilla and strawberry slush gives it a rich but not overwhelming sweet flavor. Highly recommend but don't pair it with wine. The bluefin tuna was my favorite. This was my first time paring it with red wine and it goes so well! I had the Indigen andQueue De Comete wine. Indigen was a nice light wine to start with while the red wine was nice after a long day to unwind. To top it off, the music, interior design and warm lights give it a very cozy and intimate atmosphere. I went last weekend with my girl friends and it was so much fun. The staff was super helpful with all of our dietary restrictions (one vegan, one GF, and one nut free) . As the vegan of the group, I was able to eat the mushroom tostadas, (vegan) tuna tostada, almonds, and olives. The perfect amount of food considering I usually leave non-vegan restaurants pretty hungry. My friends had the hamachi, pasta, burrata, Caesar salad, and the pork and tuna tostadas. They loved everything they ate as well! The wine was amazing and the vibes inside were really cool! Honestly the perfect weekend spot for dinner and drinks with friends. I just love this little wine bar to bits. It's like...small-small, so the crowds inevitably spill out onto the street like wine-drunk suds from a broken dishwasher. I am visiting LA and found Seco on yelp. The photos of the coconut ice cream are ultimately what brought me in but the amazing service, cozy ambiance and delicious food is what had me stay the entire night. I tried their pan con tomate, cheese board, vodka pasta and the coconut ice cream. Everything was so delicious but my favorite bite of the night was definitely the pan con tomate. Me and my girlfriend tried this place out yesterday for the first time. Wine was good, service was 5/10, not so much friendly staff. Kinda get straight to the point and order staff. A worker that has short blonde hair with a little Star Wars rat tail that was helping us at first had the audacity to hit on my girlfriend while she was waiting for the restroom. After that he stopped helping us and another guy started coming to our table instead. I paid the bill with the other worker who was wearing glasses that took over. I didn't leave a tip due to the disrespect of the staff member hitting on my girlfriend while I am there. Just very disrespectful. Train your staff better to have respect and not act stuck up because those were some vibes I was getting. When I paid the bill and didn't leave a tip, the worker was looking and made like an upset sigh when i selected "no tip" he got pissed and just walked away, mouthed something to the hostess then smoked a little cigarette. The ambiance is super nice. However the chairs are super uncomfortable. They are little stools that are pretty small. My friend and I ordered the bread and lemon butter which came with 3pieces of bread and a little butter. I was a little disappointed the bread was super cold and a little hard. The butter was okay. Came on a Tuesday night and the place was absolutely packed. Staff was very friendly, but everything was very delayed. We had a reservation for 7 and were sat outside to wait for over 30 minutes for a table... that we reserved. (Granted, I showed up for a part of 4 with a party of 2, so that could explain the delay.) We were then sat at the bar, which was fine, but there was only one person working and it was difficult to get his attention. I really liked the wine we drank, however I would not come back for the food. The cheese "crostini's" are so thin, they break when you try to spread cheese on them. The ratio of cheese to crackers (because that's what they are) was way off. We had to ask for more and still had cheese left over. The other items we tried (caesar salad and tuna tostada) were just okay, in my opinion. The ambiance is nice, however it was WAY too loud in there. The voices alone filled the room, but on top of that, the music was blasting and it was impossible to hear my friend. I realize this place just opened, so I'm sure there are still kinks to be worked out, but I don't think I will be returning any time soon. I get the vibe that Barr Seco is more of a place to be scene rather than a chill wine bar. read more

When a restaurant we wanted to try was mobbed, the manager? Owner? Tony of next restaurant (also mobbed) said he could seat us outside soon. Tables on the street. He was so very nice and charming. We felt very welcomed. Especially nice since I was taking a friend out for her first night alone since her husband suddenly died a month ago. The service was also fantastic. Our waiter Riley couldn't have been nicer, explaining everything, and giving us tastes of the wine. Plates were cleared promptly, water refilled. Now the food. Everything was delicious.... Fresh tuna tostada, scallop crudo dish, delicious pasta cooked perfectly with delicious sauce. Sweet Riley even gave us a dessert. This restaurant has only been open a week. The vibes are cute but really small. They sat us right next to the restroom against the wall on bar stools. Not comfortable ( we had a reservation). The wine is peculiar. Tasted mineral'ish maybe because it's so "natural". We ordered two appetizers. Got the hamachi and tuna tacos. Hamachi portion was insultingly small and expensive as were the two tiny tacos. Won't be going back unless they offer some kind of specials. Not worth the amount of money we spent. We were there less than an hour. read more

Had an amazing dinner here with one of my girlfriends sometime last month. The place was quite busy when we got there, but it didn't take too long to get seated. They sat us outside, and our server Riley was so wonderful. He chose a lovely white wine for us after looking at all the stuff we ordered (which was basically the entire menu) and it paired so nicely with our food. First time coming here after being so excited to try this fairly new place here in Silverlake but after my experience here, I'm never coming back. So here is why: Walked up to the hostess and asked if there was space for 2 and straight off the bat, I get told there's no available seating. Even though I saw tons of chairs and a small table outside with no 'reservation' sign on it. She noticed I noticed, so with hesitation, she gave us the table. We were given a menu so we assumed we would get our order taken for our drinks. Waited nearly 15 minutes and nothing. The same hostess noticed the couple sitting beside us was also waiting to get their order taken and looking confused, when I overheard her tell them they can get up and order at the bar. Didn't have the decency to let us know as well. If I wouldn't have overheard this, we would still be waiting. My friend got up to order our drinks and said the bartender made eye contact with her and immediately pretended to do busy work to not take her order. He walked away until someone else had to take over and finally serve us our glasses of wine. The wine glasses were covered in pieces of crusted up old food, clearly not washed correctly. Literally the cherry on top. Looked around and everyone was getting attentive good service from the hostess and the waitress working that night and arriving customers were getting immediately seated. Also, not a POC in sight, except for us. This place was seriously so unwelcoming. If you're a person of color, I'd advise you to not spend your money here. Clearly racism was the issue. This was my second time at Seco and like before the food and wine were SUPERB, however, my experience was really ruined by such a rude server who didn't let us taste a wine because she "thought" we wouldn't like it, had a terrible attitude when we had any questions. I don't remember her name but she had long dark hair with short bangs and truly ruined our experience.
