The listing for Monte Serrano is incorrect as it is in Los Gatos. What used to be Mojntain Charlie's is now a higher end craft cocktail bar. The space was dead for a good long while so glad to see the revival of another choice of drinking that is open past 11pm had a good scotch/amaro drink at the bar with some of the friendly bartenders. Second Story is a whole VIBE! The decor is on point (very IG friendly) and the live DJ was playing those R&B hits we all loved in the 90's. When you walk in, you don't feel like you're in Los Gatos/ South Bay anymore. We did the full martini experience + other cocktails. Very refreshing. The highlight was definitely the ambiance- very posh. Great spot for a first date because the music is not super loud, so you can actually hear... I've come here 4 times now and loved it more with each visit! The first time I came I was pregnant and was so pleasantly surprised by their mocktail selection! I thought for sure I would be stuck drinking seltzer water all night. The one with charcoal in it was AMAZING. My friend and I were never offered a round of drinks and we most definitely reserved it according to the table size. There were two tables for two available at the time of our reservation (we are a party of two), but the hostess insisted those two are reserved, as if we were there without a reservation or having the wrong party size. I will be reaching out via email for straightening out the credit card situation as we do not want to be charged for what we didn't order. Came by for an early date night with reservations. The host was very friendly and we were seated right away. We ordered the martini cart and an espresso martini. The espresso martini came out quickly but the martini cart did not come out until we reminded the server. They quickly realized the issue and the cart came out shortly after. The host did a great job and offered us a round of free shots as an apology. When we paid our check they only provided us the final cost and not the itemized bill.. we paid the cost and then asked for the final check which they provided. Upon reviewing the check we noticed we were charged for items that were not ordered. We called the host back and they fixed the issue after and it was resolved. Overall the place is wonderful and has a great vibe. They are still working out some kinks but the drinks are great. If you visit just make sure to check your bill before paying so you don't have to watch deal with reimbursement and then watch your card to ensure things are complete. read more

Not what I expected at all. Don't let the website photos or IG postings fool you. This place is REALLY nice at first glance.....that first glance being professional photos posted online. Once you step foot into this gorgeous remodel, it's pretty much like a club, but the weird thing is it doesn't have a dance floor, at least I don't think it did...saw plenty attempting to dance and it was so awkward. The vibe is cool if you're 21-35, and like the clubbing atmosphere; this is not an elevated cocktail lounge as described in most media outlets. At barely 48 I felt like a cougar. Eeks! I have to say, the dress code is the best: We kindly invite our guests to embrace a cocktail-chic, refined, and effortlessly stylish look when visiting Second Story. The bouncers must not have been paying attention. Let's just say I wasted an outfit, a really good one. Can't comment on the drinks as I just had a glass of house bubbly. The only truth to this place, is that it IS on the second story. Check it out, just don't have high expectations and you will be ok. Had a great experience at this cozy craft cocktail bar in Los Gatos! The vibe was laid-back but elevated, perfect for a night out without feeling too formal. I went to the second story of second story ( hahah Pun intended) bar and was served by Ash, one of their newer bartenders as he mentioned. He was awesome. Super friendly, attentive, and clearly knows his stuff. He made me a custom cocktail based on what I liked and totally nailed it (something with Hennessy I can't remember) Excited to come back and see how he grows behind the bar. I'm writing this five stars instead of three or four, because I believe they will figure out the service time issue from the bar. They were so busy on their opening weekend that a lot of folks were waiting extended times for their drink. But I feel like that's a good problem to have and they will figure it out in no time! If you don't like a loud setting, you want to be out by about 930 or 10 PM. I arrived at 7:30 shortly after it opened and it had a peaceful, fun ambience, a great DJ, and it was pretty chill. After about 9:30 PM, it gets somewhat packed and with everybody together is loud. lol! I'm not an old person complaining about noise, it's just that initially it gives off kind of a chill lounge vibe, but it definitely turns into a bit of a nightclub, but with no dancing, around 10 PM. My bartender, Benjamin, made an excellent gin martini, the first one I had ever tried and I will definitely be having it again. He was a very good bartender serving up lots of nice looking drink drinks, they have a good drink menu! zero stars to the many gentleman that showed up throughout the night in something they'd wear to the home depot, maybe two out of 20 men were dressed up in something nice! Guys what are you thinking! Most were in sweaters, or sort of shabby polo shirts, things like that. In fact, somebody posted a photo on their Instagram recently, and a man was sitting at the bar in his hoodie. I was excited to go for the ambience, the dark lighting, the nice drinks, and also I was really hoping to see nicely dressed men, for once!! but ladies and gays be warned, there may not be many. (to any gentleman who are reading this, put on at least a button up long sleeved collared shirt, ironed. It goes a long way! It was very disappointing, most of the women were dressed so nicely, but that's not the bars fault). they should institute a dress code. Lots of parking around. Will be back! read more

Bartenders will always make a drink that pertains to your taste, tell them what you like and they'll make it for you. Damn, they know how to make Jungle Bird!! No bars and clubs I visited in the SF freaking bay area knows what it is, they do. My boy Moose, is a high-end bartender, he knows what to do, how to do it, he is prepping his own recipe of milk punch just to surprise everyone on a Saturday night. Ask him for whatever drink you like, he'll make it, so will others. This place became my go-to from the first time I visited it. Going there at least 2-3 times a week. Best cocktails! Best Bartenders. Best Atmosphere. I'm European, it's the only place including SF that gives me European lounge club vibes, and what can compare with it?! Loving this place in and out. You wanna take your date here, do; you want to chill with your friends, that's the spot! You want to meet cool people talk and chill, yes; you want to meet a girl, guy and have a casual convo and who knows what after, you're in the right place! As I mentioned, the current reservation policy--requiring reservations only for parties of six or more--feels a bit counterintuitive. They've assured me that changes are on the horizon to make reservations more accessible for smaller groups, which is a fantastic step forward. Once those updates are in place, I'll be more than happy to update my review to five stars--or remove it altogether. Looking forward to seeing the improvements! -- We traveled from out of town, eager to check this place out. Arriving early at 7 PM, we hoped to grab a seat. Upstairs, we found an almost empty space with plenty of available seating. The hostess asked if we had a reservation. We explained that we couldn't make one online, to which she responded, "That's because we don't take reservations for parties under six." So, you require reservations--but only for large groups? Make that make sense. Since when do bars turn people away at 7 PM? Frankly, this place is a joke. We won't be back, and we made sure to warn others heading upstairs about the treatment we received. I feel like this place is one of those situations where they try to please everyone and miss the mark as a result. The place is very nice. Great decor but then they play music that doesn't match the vibe/theme. They have martini service where the server brings a cart out to make the martini in front of you and tell you about it. The problem is that the music is so loud you cant hear anything that is said and it just becomes awkward. They have chairs and tables in the middle of the room yet play a type of music at a volume that you would expect people to dance rather than sit and have nice drinks. The drinks were fine but I expected from a place that primarily serves higher end drinks. I could sit and drink there if they played appropriate music at a better volume or I could go drink and hang out with people dancing if they removed the tables and changed the atmosphere but not both. read more

This is a great place for good vibes, fun music, and yummy drinks!! Starting off with the security, after checking ID's he welcomes you by stating your name. Small detail but makes and impact. David at the DJ booth makes the ambience fun and moody. The hostesses were extremely nice and welcoming- would come back just for their customer service. And of course, Benjamin at the bar?
