I've had a couple experiences with Second Wind. First, when I bought my RevIt Sirocco jacket a few years a go. The parts girl, Carlie, cut me a great deal on the jacket, as they were (at the time) discontinuing the RevIt line. Happily, they're stocking Rev'It again now. Four years later, I paid full price for an Arai helmet. I thought it was fair, given the expert help in fitting, and their previous willingness to bargain. Overall, Second Wind seems like a well-run business. The employees I've worked with are real motorcycling enthusiasts, competent, and friendly. The gear they carry, Shoei, Arai, Rev'It, and BMW is generally considered top notch stuff, and does its job well. They may not have the cheapest gear, but riding gear isn't necessarily the place to pinch pennies. read more

Forced to buy Evans coolant since they are the only place in the area that has it. The lady in parts told me it was $27/us gal. Apparently she was mistaken and it was only a half gallon. Looking first before telling someone would fix this issue. I also asked to have the pre-flush ordered, 1 us gal. It was never ordered. I will not be back to Second Wind Triumph again, they could use a second wind to get themselves better organized. read more

Second Wind has done a great job with services on my bikes, both new and old. The shop owner is great at restoring vintage bikes and has a wealth of knowledge in this area, whether upgrading with modern retrofits or keeping everything original. For the newer bikes its much nicer to have the service records following the factory specifications. I have found the techs do a solid and timely job in this area. It is possible that you may need to have an obscure part ship from England or Germany but they will let you know the timeliness of this. The staff also knows their parts and accessories very well. There is a nice variety when it comes to the selection of gear offerings. It's a pretty decent place to browse and get ideas making your ride more complete. They do stock a good variety of sizes in apparel and there is a fitting room to try on all these things. There are also various activities throughout the season such as workshops and rides that help educate and they are always fun to attend. There is usually a good turnout of enthusiasts from all over New England. The rides are some of the best that the area has to offer. Been at this place that "restore "old bikes with my 1988 GS bmw, they gave an estimate of 4000 plus dollars, They would replace almost everything, the front brakes calipers were stuck so go ahead and replace everything on the front, They charged me 300 dollar of labor for checking what's wrong and new battery but when i went to take the bike they did not put the bike together so I asked them if I only payed to have the bike apart... really non professional, there was a piece of plastic still on the seat when I was ready to put the bike on the truck so I had to tell the guy , can you please fix it where it was? I believe the estimate for service check was about 1000 dollar just fluids and filters. I found a guy that fix bikes in his garage and he made my bike running for less than 600,with new tires. I have been a bmw fanatic since 1996 and I met a bunch of dealers of this brand, be aware when the dealer is telling your front suspension are leaking. Or like at greater motor sport, "you need to rebuilt the carbs" without even see the bike. read more

I am new to Nashua and just bought a 09 Daytona 675 for track/race use. The previous owner had spliced into the wiring harness at few places and damaged it, so I went to Second Wind to get it fixed. I dropped the bike off (on 11/25) and spoke in detail to their service manager (not Chris) and also to their technician. The technician suggested that the harness needed to be replaced and since it was going to be a race bike (for track use only), a race harness would be cheaper and better. I told them to proceed. The next day, the same service manager called me and said that the race harness only works with race ECU and they'll need to order the race ECU to make it work. After getting a quote, I gave them my permission to proceed. Few days later, Chris (their second service manager) called me and told me that he has taken over this work and he wanted to get some clarification. He went over the work with me on the phone and confirmed that the parts were on order. He also confirmed that he will be able to setup the race ECU with their computer and I'll just need to get it dyno tuned (air/fuel ratio map). On 12/4, the parts arrived and Chris informed me that the work is scheduled for 12/9. On 12/10, Chris called again and said that there were 2 more parts that needed to be ordered to make this harness work. The extra cost was only $100, so I asked them to proceed. Got a call again from him on 12/11 and this time he said that I need to buy Triumph TRACS software ($500 extra) that is required to configure the race ECU. This contradicted what he told me a week ago that they could program the race ECU with their shop computer. At this point, I was very frustrated. When I asked why he didn't inform me about this earlier, he said that "they didn't know". So to summarize, it started with a $250 harness and 2hrs of labor and turned into a $2000 job. We had some argument about it and he instead blamed it on me. I mean...com'mon, does the dealership expects the customer to know all this? As a customer, I take my bike to the dealer because I rely on their expertise and judgement. If I was an expert at all this, I would do it myself and not take the bike to them. I went to talk to Chris on 12/11 and to my surprise; the technician who was working on the bike was NOT the same who I spoke with when I dropped the bike off. So basically, the service manager was changed initially, then later the technician was changed. That clearly explains why there was a lack of communication and a gap in their understanding of what I wanted. I told them to return all parts to Triumph and I can't pay $2k for all this. Chris insisted that since they already installed the harness, I'll have to pay for it and 4hrs of installation work. I told them that their lack of experience and knowledge about a Triumph part is their problem and I shouldn't be penalized for it. Of course, I couldn't win the argument since I am not a Triumph expert, so I asked them to leave the new harness on the bike and stop further work, so that I can take delivery of the bike next day (in non-working condition). So at this point, I have already spent $700 (on race harness and labor), my bike is not ride-able and not working and I have to get all this fixed. This is basically a shit show. I expected them to be honest about their mistakes, their lack of knowledge about the race ECU and admit their screw up as they switched their technician and service manager. Being an owner of a Daytona and a BMW S1000RR, I could have been a long term customer for them, but after trying them out this time, I won't give them my business again. I DO NOT recommend them due to their unprofessional, dishonest and disorganized service department. read more

AVOID!! Do not get service here!! I brought in my 2008 Triumph Sprint ST before a long road trip. I had a new tire installed and had the valves checked (12k miles). Due to my schedule I can only drop off or pick up the bike at night. On the ride home I noticed that my clutch was all the way out. It was very difficult to drive and I had to pull over to adjust the clutch to a manageable level. Once I got home I discovered I cannot get into neutral. It's like it doesn't exist. They next day I washed the bike and gave it an oil change (hoping to resolve the neutral issues) and found several scratches where the old wheel weights were. Also there is a large gouge in my rear rim. I was upset but had to get on the road. It took 3 attempts just to start my bike. Very odd. It always starts no issues. During the trip I noticed that cold starts are almost impossible. Warm starts seem fine. Also I discovered a large flat piece of rubber laying on my valve cover. I have no idea what it is. I don't know if it belongs on my bike or not??? I've never seen it before. Neutral is still a problem, starting is a problem, Rim damage and random parts just hanging out. I have contacted them about these issues and I have not had any reply. So $600 for service and my bike now has all these issues that need to go somewhere else to get fixed. Very nice people, enjoyed talking to them and purchasing my new Triumph Bonneville SE. On the not so good side... The "issue" of the Air Injection Emissions along with after market pipes was not made clear to me. When I picked up the bike, Chris mentioned that I "might want to remove the Air Injection" system since it causes overheating and blueing of the pipes. Furthermore, on the ride home I found out that the motor backfires excessively (again, on reading on the web, a feature of the Air Injectors). Solution - buy a kit to remove the injectors. I did, but with no instructions coming with the kit, and vastly conflicting info on the web, I do not feel entirely comfortable approaching the project. Until I fix this, the bike sits in the car port. I called 2nd wind and asked if they could do this for me, but they are booked for two weeks, so I either ride the bike and blue the pipes in the meantime (and deal with the "Snap Crackle Pop) or do a trial and error replacement myself hoping not to do any damage, or wait several weeks. I guess after spending $10K, I thought that a dealership could find an hour (what they say it would take) to make a new customer happy. Also, I think they should have emphasized the issues with the combination of the new pipes and Air Elimination before I bought the bike. read more

Went here to look at a new 2016 BMW S1000RR. The infamous Bill came to help me shortly afterwards. I was quite interested in the bike after talking about the one they had in their showroom but he would not let me test ride it. Now when someone is going to spend $20,000 on a bike they want to confident that it is the bike for them. They didnt have the color instock I was looking for so Bill said he would get back to me about my options. He then called me the next day. I asked him again about a test ride again that day and laughed at me over the phone! Little did he know that I got the last laugh because the purchased from another BMW dealership an hour away and it was well worth the drive with more selection and 100 times better customer service. Additionally they let me test ride a bike without even asking! Bill needs to learn customer service and take his potential customers more seriously. Additionally I noticed they had one of their bikes advertised and on show at Tulley BMW. Looks like their hurting for business. Shocking! Even though they are 15 mins away from my house Id much rather drive an extra 45 mins to their competitor. I already had my 600 mile service done there as well. Stay away from these goons! The worst dealer out there bought a R80 off a local guy and the dealer fixed the pushrod tubes leaking ....they stripped the exhaust on the right side....We all know that if the exhaust nut starts off hard then you stop and cut them off...the exhaust nuts are cheap...now they made a big mess for me....I call them and they pretty much told me to F off nice people....anyway I'm screwed....and they win.....I would hope National power sports runs things better ....I i wish they would contact me for a repair....if there worth there salt.... read more

My review by the numbers. Purchased a front tire for my Triumph Scrambler from them, $145 could have purchased online for $101... I support local business. Dropped off the wheel on Wednesday was mounted by Saturday. I was charged for 0.65 hours to mount AND BALLANCE ( very important note at $55 ). When they brought out the wheel the tire was mounted backwards... They put arrows on the tire and the brake disk for a reason. I told the mechanic who got the mechanic? who mounted AND BALLANCED it for $55. His response... Wow the tread pattern looked like it should go the other way ( they put arrows for a reason ) they said we'll fix that now. And in 10 minutes they brought me back my wheel, tire mounted the correct direction. So $217 for what I would call a used tire (installed and removed and installed) and either they charge 0.65 hours for labor to do a 0.2 hour job OR my new wheel that was BALLANCED when installed the first time is now not. Sadly I live three miles from them and will now drive to a respectable shop in North Hampton. read more
